I`m coming from an iPhone so this will be my first android phone. I'm very familiar with jailbreaking so I'm looking forward to rooting my future phone.
I was comparing the specs of these two but I kind of like the screen size of the Sensation, but love the exterior of the G2x. right now I'm leaning towards the G2x but I heard that the interface is fairly bland compared to the HTC and that it has a lot of problems. I'm sure I'll be able to add a theme or skin by rooting, correct? I also heard the HTC has a locked bootloader, whatever that means. I'm guessing that plays a big part in rooting. Any idea which I should get? Also, I was wondering if I do get an HTC would I be able to remove the Sense(the interface)?
G2X. all the way. I came from an iphone as well and was looking for a new UI but if you're looking for a sweet iPhone-ish UI definitely flash MIUI. Great battery life, stability and usability.
You should go with sensation, fancy right out the box. You don't have to root for custom skin or theme. If you are a person, who do not mind some little problem to get the best out of other thing like speed, smoothly, the handling of the hardware on your hands, then go with g2x. If you go with gwx you will need a good amount of time to find out which rom + kernel will be the best for your need, nobody will be sure that rom will be best for you seen some ppl have luck with all different rom. Seen you from iPhone you should try Miui rom 1st, you can dl it here or one from rootzwiki.
sensation is a POS with POS reception. Grip of death issues make wifi weak to unusable. skinny screen makes landscape the only way you can keyboard, but then wifi goes out.
Lots of great ideas put into something with ****ty implementation. My g2x has 2x the reception of my sensation. I'll never buy an HTC phone again.
EDIT: BTW, it got lower reception than our motorola cliq's, by 1-2 bars all the time, but if you picked it up, it lost another bar. Moto cliq would have 3-4 bars at my house, or my dad's house, where the sensation had 1-2, and if you picked it up, it became 0-1 causing dropped calls. Horrid.
What kinds of problems have you guys encountered with the G2x? And is it true that it has more dev support than Sensation?
I don't have a Sensation but I came from Mytouch 4G, which is a great HTC phone and still wish if I could trade my G2X to get the MT4G. I got this G2x as a replacement for my MT4G (insurance) about 2 weeks ago and i went thru 4 times of exchange due to reboot, auto turn off problem. G2X forum doesn't have much dev support (you can always check and compare between forums to see).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278780
Good luck with your choice.
btw, G2X doesn't have build-in LED, which is a big - for me
If u plan on rooting, go with the g2x because it was my first android phone too and it was easier to start of with since it is easier to root. Sensation u can root but it has more steps to it. My phone only rebooted once.

Ohh btw if u use GPSa lot go with the sensation.

Thankds for the info so far.
Is the screen bleed on the G2xs a common problem? What about the dust under the screen of the sensation?
EDIT: And what other androids should I consider other than the SG?

+1 on this.
The G2x is an amazing phone, but it's going to be outdated pretty soon, sadly.
Im trying to get a phone off craigslist for cheap. Found a couple HTCs and G2xs. Doubt there will be an Amaze when its released. Looks great though :O
I have a g2x and a Sensation. The Sensation has a bigger screen, g2x wins hands down everything else.. the Sensation does not even have reception at my house, G2x and even Mytouch 4G have 2 bars, G2x feels twice as fast and the battery lasts longer..
My only small beef is the buttons are in a different order on the G2x and I really love the HTC Sense lock screen and weather Widgets.
But to me the G2x is a better phone..

Just a warning if you use bluetooth stereo for like your car or headphones, it'll only work on the G2x on roms based off the official 2.3.3 rom. So you won't be able to run CM7 or MIUI without losing bluetooth stereo support.
I love my G2x (mine has no problem), and the recent Gingerbread update seems to have solved issues in most case.
With the Galaxy S II's coming out to major carriers, and the Nexus Prime weeks away... I would wait.
But seems like you need a quick phone now.
I love my G2x. We have working CM7, MIUI, and lots of custom roms. Since the Sensation has been unlocked, I'm sure they are starting to pick up some stuff too.
Most people think the development has been slow, but we have LOTS of roms... the problem is that nothing new has come out to develop. We have the latest CM7 builds based on AOSP 2.3.5, we have the latest MIUI, and we have several stock-based roms. What more can you ask for?
New G2x's come with Gingerbread out of the box so they typically work better then the original outlook (boinked software). My cousin has a new stock GB G2x and has no issues with it (came from an iPhone 4). The Sensation also has/had some pretty major issues out of the box with their touch screen not being responsive and dust under the screen (hardware problems). I don't think you can fix a boinked Sensation with a bad touch screen sensor with custom software.
The G2x can be a beast if you want it to.

Hey guys!!!
I'm just wondering what you all think of the mytouch. I played with the g2, and I like it. I like the keyboard, and the screen looks better to me IMO.
However, with gingerbread proally coming out soon (PROBABLY) , that'll slow updates, for the MT right, because of mySense?
I LOVE THE MT4G. LOVELOVE.
I use facebook a lot
I text a lot
I like more customization
i'll probably root, overclock, and flash a custom rom when a lot of them become available.
mySense seems allright!
i consider myself an intermediate to advanced smartphone junky.
What phone should I get, and how do you like it?
I'm also worried that it's been a few months since the g2 came out, and its not even at the front at my TMO store anymore. I don't want to sign a contract and want another one before 3 months.
but the mt4g is! ideally, i wish they would add that g2 keyboard to the mytouch 4g and keep that z-hinge, it seems cool to me.
thanks!
so, should i get it? hows your experiences!? thanks.
its really important, i need a new phone before monday .
cmon guys please. 12 views, noone replies?
i just am deciding if i like mysense, and if its worth losing that amazing keyboard the g2 has. though the screen is only .1 inch bigger, the mytouch screen seems way bigger! i like it in my hand.
Well I have no experience with the MT4G yet as I am gonna get it today. My first decision was to get the G2 but after doing countless research (youtube reviews!) and comparisons of the two, I fell in love with the myTouch over the G2. The hard keyboard of the G2 doesn't really matter to me, the onscreen keyboard is good if not better with Swype. I prefer vanilla android over other UIs but mySense seems to have a lot of interesting tweaks and features that I might enjoy having. If we don't like it then there's rooting of course as I'm sure there will be plenty of roms available soon. The updates are the only thing that have me a bit worried but like I said, rooting the phone might ease the pain of dragging updates by flashing 2.3 roms if available.
Not sure if this might help but its worth noting i think.
Good luck on choosing your next phone!
I've had both the G2 & the MT4G and I'm a lot happier with the MT4G.
The G2 seemed too bricky for my tastes and I really didn't use the hard keyboard to compensate. MySense is not as good as full fledged sense but it's not a huge difference.
I know not too long after gingerbread comes out we'll probably have a Rom to flash it on our phones so updates don't worry me so much.
I think it really comes down to if you want a hard keyboard or a front facing camera. I chose the front facing camera & less bulkiness

maybe because this is the 15th "how do you like your mytouch" "is it better then the g2" thread.
people need to learn how to read before they start typing
I have had the G2 and now the MT4G and although the G2 is a very very good phone I must say that I believe the MT4G is the best all around phone I have ever owned, I also have a Vibrant and a Nexus One at this time but I am going to sell the Nexus One. All of these are Great phones IMO but the G2(hinge issues, connection issues, radio issues)and the Nexus One( touch screen issues at times, signal issues) and the Vibrant(virtually no GPS until just a short time ago, lags etc.signal issues) do not seem to compare with the all stability of the MT4G of which the only issue I have found was a slight glitch in MMS messaging which is now covered. All of this is obviously just my opinions but if I had to go with just 1 phone right now it would be the MT4G

BOO-YA.
I gave up my mint N1 for the MT4G. I know there aren't many ROM's for it yet, and God knows how long it will take to get Amon_RA, but it took a good month before there were ROM's to flash for the N1. With Android 2.3 so close to being released it's just a matter of time before we get a vanilla gingerbread ROM for this device.
The Mytouch is a great handset but after using it for a couple of days I'm not that impressed....I will be selling or trading mine soon...

I'm with ya... Came over from an Evo and just can't get used to the hard keys at the bottom instead of the touch-keys. Also experiencing some automatic re-boots (3 in three days) and some text sending problems (I already turned of the Teklia). If the Evo had been a GSM phone, I would have brought it to TMO (sprint really sucks in this town). I'm looking for a GSM Evo-clone! My only other choice will be ATT in about a month when they come to town, but they don't have any decent androids yet (sorry, the samsung captivate just doesn't do it for me... the touch screen is terrible)

Nexus One owner who absolutely loves the My Touch 4G. Will always keep the N1 for the almost instant upgrades but the hardware on this My Touch is 2nd to none. This phone has it all and it all works. I'm getting use to this non vanilla Android for lack of a better word but using Launcher Pro this thing is dynamite. Best phone to date besides the Nexus One of course. Seriously the My Touch 4G is probably the best phone I have ever owned. The Nexus One will always be my go to phone, I'm just always drawned to that thing.
PS
The HSPA+ was just flipped on in my town. Live in a suburb outside Boston and getting between 3.5 to 5.5 Mbps on download and 1.5 on upload. I was usually getting around 900-950 kbps on the download. What a major diifference and these speeds are in my town and most surrounding towns. T-Mobile is killing this area with their great network. I am in freaken heaven. Thank You T-Mobile.
Those speeds are on my Nexus One. My Touch 4G is higher.
I had the EVO for almost a month (trial period). While I agree the bigger screen is great, it seems a little more washed out, maybe due to the fact that the same resolution is now scretched to accomedate a 4.3'' screen. The capacitive buttons on the bottom was a wash for me. I find myself accidently hitting them sometimes. I much prefer the physical keys. Battery life on the MT4G is much better. I could never manage to squeeze 10 hours from the EVO (moderate use). So, I chose the MT4G over the EVO. The only thing I did like about the EVO was the original SENSEUI on it, Tmobile's version is a little sloppy. Just my experience and opinion.
Your device is clearly defective, get a warranty exchange. That, or your lying.

LOVE the hardware, but don't like Sense. Waiting for CM6 to come out. You could always pick up a used Nexus or Vibrant for $300 or so. Or buy this one from T-mo for $450 ish without contract and then trade up later if you really want...
Hello XDA,
I currently have the HTC Aria (Rooted) and I was wondering if I should get the HTC Inspire 4G. I have been considering it for a while and my upgrade date is in a few months and I was wondering, is this a great phone?
In my opinion yes the Inspire is a great phone but if you still have to wait a few months; HTC has some new stuff coming down the pipe Dual core, 4.5" screens, Ect... Although by the time you upgrade the Inspire will more than likely be free while your other options will not. As for what AT&T has out there right now I would still pick the Inspire. Even if they would have not screwed up my change from Alltel and gave them to me for free to keep me happy.

I agree with tmcfarland. I came from an aria and I love it. Plus there have been no problems getting used to it other then the size difference. Just be sure if you root to read everything through it is a little more involved than the aria but still very doable.

my favorite phone so far! although my second best is the blackjack 2 so this is really in a different world.
camera is amazing too...
like its been said waiting will offer a newer htc phone but its prolly gonna cost you where as this inspire might be a free phone when your due
Thanks guys, I went to an At&t store in my area to check the phone out, it seems pretty cool. And does anyone suggest a specific ROM, I have been looking at some extremely great ones.
I have enjoyed Gingerbeast for a whole week already, world record fot me...but i would also recommend honeysense, 2.1 sense mixed with 3.0

I'm going against the grain here and not recommend this phone. I'm on my third phone. Im not hard on them at all. The speakerphone and freezing problems is why I returned the first one. The second one the screen totally went out. Both were stock. My current version is rooted and custom and so far no problems. It does drop calls but that may just be the service although never had q problem with my previous device. The battery is puny and you will need a charger with you at all times. I give the phone a 6 out of 10.

Hey, I'm almost always around a charger and my battery on my Aria isn't so great either, so do you see me complaining?
When will you have the phone? For now I would recommend trying something like miui, very much like iPhone and completely different from the other inspire roms.
Definitely try gingerbeast, super fast.

Wait. I have the aria and 2 inspires and would tell you to wait. The phone has issues, but I will say I still love it. Looks like the sensation is coming to ATT and lord willing maybe the sgs2 . If you think battery life on the aria is bad your really in for a bad surprise with the inspire. They have the same size battery.
Performance wise the inspire is rock solid, on par with the dual core beasts. I can run the tegra and gameloft games without a hitch. But the cell signal, WiFi, and definetly Bluetooth performance is sub par. It is a phone afterall. The speaker is bad, unusable for videos without the volume apk. I honestly think the metal body is what hinders the radio. Most have issues with the screen, my two included. Hell a case can kill Bluetooth as can your Hand covering the side.
Not trying to poop all over our beloved gadget, just telling it like it is. Go into any if the forum here and ask the opinion of that phone. I promise you it will be 90% positive, except the atrix. Lol

I still use my Aria and I have the Inspire...The Aria is good in the car because I can control everything with one hand and my thumb...cant with the Inspire.
The sensation is a great phone, but there are some things that bother me about it. Sense 3.0 is just too much...uses too many resources. The screen is decent, but I still can't figure out why the g2x screen I saw in person looks better (maybe because the g2x is an IPS screen?), and the speaker on the sensation is terrible (how is the speaker on the g2x)?
I've been reading that the official gingerbread update has (so far) fixed some issues that the g2x had, which is why I'm thinking about making the switch.
Any opinions on this?
honestly as this recent leak is, cm7 is still better and more stable with alot of extra features, until t-mo releases the official ota with upgraded baseband and upgraded to a gingerbread kernel, this update is still inferior to cm7 imo
gingerbread is still far off, if this is the latest rom LG has, then i wouldnt say its close to being pushed to t-mo for review wich still leaves us a few months away from anything official, unless they really plan to make the final update run on a kernel that doesnt even fully support the tegra 2 chip.

Both phones are great. Had the G2x but switched it out for the sensation. I have no regrets because the G2x was very problematic. However, a working nondefective G2x is a beast phone nonetheless. It's faster than the sensation imo.
The sensation on the other hand is also a great phone. And im Lucky that I got a nondefective one from the start. I prefer the sensation over the G2x but it all comes down to the user itself.
Im not boasting or bragging or putting down any phone, just stating my personal experiances with these phones.

The g2x is an awesome gaming phone with all the tegra games and stuff.
The sensation i feel is a little more boring but more reliable and professional looking. Also i noticed that by disabling sense and the bloatware that cane with the phone, ive been able to make it as fast if not faster than the g2x. Specially the browsing. I dont have the problem where it takes a while for the browser to open abd once it opens its seems to reopen the last website, which i belive was due to my g2x running low on memory.

I traded my g2x for a sensation, them back to the g2x. The g2x is way better..
Sensation wifi was horrid..
Kept my G2X but use my Sensation as my daily driver. The only time I really pick the G2X up is to play Tegra games or flash ROMS. Like someone else said, if you keep Sense on the Sensation, your phone will be laggy. HTC did a horrible job of optimizing the new version of Sense. If you load ADW on the Sensation, the UI will become as fast, if not faster than the G2X. Loading apps, using Google maps and browsing the web has always been faster on the Sensation than on the G2X whether your running Sense or not. Getting rid of Sense and stopping it from running makes the UI as responsive as one could get.
Can't go wrong with either phone. I didn't have a bad experience with either of them (until I loaded GB onto my G2X). Some people had a bad experience with the G2X and went to the Sensation. Some people had a bad experience with the Sensation and came back to the G2X. To each his own.

Well, looks like I'm keeping my sensation.
Installed launcherpro, and for some reason it even opens up apps quicker now (even though sense 3.0 is still there running in the background). I also love the fact that I can still use the sense 3.0 lockscreen with launcherpro. Phones feels like an entirely new beast now.

Yea man...Sense sucks anyway. The only things good about it is the lock screen, sms app, contacts and email. Everything else is just annoying eye candy. Good part about using a launcher is you get to keep all of that without the eye candy.
Check your available memory now. It should be somewhere around 300. Also, if you think LP is fast, check out ADW.

If you are a developer then get the G2x, but if you are looking for a overall solid phone for day to day use, keep the Sensation. But if you don't etheir one, then can't go wrong with either phone. The Sensation is more powerful as it uses a better GPU.
The screen on the sensation is superior in some ways, just overall looks sharper and alot more more detail. But the G2x, colors look more vibrant.
WiFi issue I notice to, if you touch around the top area and when signal is fair, then drops, but with a stonger signal, not as bad. Notice it doesn't affect the other radio's inside.
But the G2x seem quicker, but battery last more longer on the sensation, I guess theirs tradeoff's ethier way you look at it.
Long term Sensation is a better choice, In quadrant test score lower due to screen resolution is higher and does affect the score, but CPU/GPU is better in the Sensation as it use a powerful 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor with Adreno 220 GPU, which is known to outpreform the Nvidia terga 2 chipset, only thing lacking is the ram which is 768MB LPDDR2, which is good, they sure have when to 1gb. Alot of people think the Samsung Galaxy s2 is going to be faster, it's not, it only use a Adreno 205 GPU, but the ddr II 1gb ram helps but screen resolution also make a big different, put the same screen in all and see who wins?
I didn't have any problems with my G2X to begin with, but updated to the GB update and it runs even quicker and the battery life is also better.
One thing that deterred me from getting the Sensation was the locked bootloader and only 1gb of internal memory. Not all apps can be moved to the SD card. Plus I think the G2X looks sexy with it's curved Gorilla glass edges and sleek body. stock Vanilla is a big plus, and the dual speakers at the bottom of the phone and not on the back that get's muffled was another deciding factor. HTC always has crappy sounding speakers.
So, my dog broke my HTC Sensation 4G's screen ... Now getting Samsung Galaxy S II T-Mobile. This was a great phone. Learned many things about android. Learned about Security Off and On, Radios. Everything. It was pretty bad though with no Custom ROMs.So I want to know what did you think of this device and how it performs. Before a last goodbye.
SGSII is nice, I played with it while still in development. Reason I wouldn't get it? Low dev support. Sure, there's a whole bunch of support for the SGSII in other countries but that version is COMPLETELY different then the one your getting. ALL the guts are different right down to the display so everything that has been done to that one wont work on the one your getting. It's a US only version. Just my .02.
I trialed the Amaze (yes I work for TMO). It was nice, fast but not faster than my Sensation and DEFINATELY not faster customized. Again, it's issue is it is only a TMO phone so dev support will be low. It will be nothing like the Sensation.
On to the Sensation. Best phone I've ever used, hands down. Everytime I pick it up, I'm still amazed by what I can do with it and it's user interface. Yeah, Sense 3.0 has a long ways to go but its so nice to play with. Something new almost every day!
I gotta be honest, when I first got my Sensation I was quite disappointed with the horrible UI that comes with it out of the box. But then I flashed Senseless Extreme, which made it a lot more tolerable. Now that I have flashed CM7 I am completely happy and my phone is extremely fast and smooth. I couldn't ask for more. Much more fun to use than my old Nexus One. I just love the huge, brilliant screen and the awesome CPU.
I personally am disappointed in this phone, but I enjoy it at the same time. I find the fact that it isn't perfect is what makes it fun: fun to try to make it better by modding it. If I had a phone that I liked out of the box, I never would have discovered rooting and custom ROMs and the like. I only joined xda because I was so disappointed.
Overall, I will never buy a LCD display phone again, the poor software integration left me wanting, and problems like the crappy speaker and decidedly average battery life were disappointing. So I am disappointed, but this phone has opened me up to the Android world (1st android phone and 1st smartphone) and I'm excited to see what it can do with ICS. I'll milk this phone for what its worth for sure.

Basically, +1 an all of your points
i had a sensation too and opted out for the galaxy S2 ,i wouldnt worry about the dev support fo the galaxy as is there already a few devs over there and iit will continue to grow. i just couldnt deal with the dust issue .when you send a phone back because of this and the one you get back has it worse than the one you sent then its a problem. with that being said i loved everything else about the sensation but it was time to move on as i was sick of getting replacement handsets. galaxy is a very nice phone and i dont think i went backward any
I sold my sensation for the SGSII with T-mobile and it's the best decision I've made. The sensation stock is such a piece of crap, but thanks to the devs the phone is decent. But its sucks that you have to root your phone in order to get good performance. The SGSII? Smokes the sensation in every category except screen resolution. But the Super AMOLED plus display makes up for it. If you haven't seen it in real life you don't know what I'm talking about. It's simply AMAZING. No wonder why it gets all the praises.
I wish I knew how you make this phone lag. Mine is completely stock and I have no lag at all and good battery life. Of course I have no dust issues either so maybe I got an anomaly

I had the sensation, then switched to the amaze, then went back to the sensation. Played with the sgs2 and I hated the touchwiz ui crap. I know that is complete personal preference so personally it was enough for me to not get it and go back to the sensation. So I absolutely love my sensation. Even in stock form.
I heard a lot of complaining about the Sensation on this forum before I got it and I was pretty worried about buying it. When I played with it in the store, I thought it was a little laggy in scrolling and opening apps.
Buying it was the best phone decision I've made. I'm not a techno-wiz, but s-off, rooting and installing Android Revolution HD + the Bricked kernel was easy and has made the phone incredibly fast, usable and fun to use. Seriously the best phone I've ever used.
I went the other way I had a gs2 sold it why 2 reasons firstly the thing gets very very hot when playing games and I mean hot secondly its to thin uncomfortable to hold well it was for me. I then bought the sensation but lost my job so had to sell it I was gutted best phone iv ever had. Got a new job but bought a HTC desire s which iv still got but today iv just ordered a new sensation which ill get wensday carnt wait

This is the best phone I've had hands down. It took a lot to get it there but the best things in life... Well you gotta work for them. After getting CM7 and the anker 1900 battery this phone is a beast. I'm sure it'd kick the crap out of the tmo sgs 2.

This is the best phone ive ever gotten myself..I played with the sgsii and it feels like a toy in your hands and i also hated the touchwiz ui..I was planning to get the amaze but the phone is way too thick and the design is crap compared to the sensation..
I love this phone. Got it on launch day and have had no real issues. Maybe I got lucky? I have insurance but have never had any reason to send it back.

Love the phone! Came from Epic 4G, and I don't see myself ever buying a Samsung phone (unless, of course, it's a Nexus device!). It seems the TMO SGS2 might suffer a similar fate of having poor dev support as the Epic 4G because of the considerably different hardware (specifically the processor); they still haven't received Gingerbread, and no CM7 support (even the SGS1 hasn't received a stable CM7 build I believe).
Anyway, this was my first experience with Sense, and I have to say it blows TouchWiz out of the water, and offers some nice enhancements to stock Android (see camer). Despite the attractiveness of Sense, I put CM7 on this bad boy, and it is leaps and bounds better than the stock experience. Even tried going back to Sense, but a few hours later, I was restoring my Nandroid backup!
Take a look at CM7 benchmarks on the Sensation, you'll see that they are very comparable, if not better, than the stock SGS, which kind of suggests Sense is really bogging down the system.
Camera on the Sensation is great, and the resolution offers the most screen real estate that I've ever had on a phone. It's really fast, and does almost everything I want it to do. All it's missing now is Siri
I was disappointed in the phone at first, like some of you, but it has really started to grow on me. One thing that needs to happen, when you first get a sensation, is to S-Off, root it, and then put a modded ROM on it.
It doesn't even matter if it's a Sense mod, AOSP/CyanagenMod, or CyanagenMod - the stock needs to go to really get a feel for what this phone can do.
I actually like the LCD screen, although the SGSII's super-amoled screen is nice. I call it a toss-up.
I think what really did it for me was the realization that the software can be changed - but the hardware is much more difficult. This phone just feels better in my hand than the SGSII. I've been lucky enough not to have a "dust under the screen" problem (yet).
I dunno, maybe it's because I came from a clunky BlackBerry and an even clunkier OpenMoko.
I love this phone! I got it when all sensation still run as S_On and after while S_off and rooted this phone from 6/10 boost to 8/10 then someone on the this forum post out how to self unlock the phone without call the mobile provider it make it 9/10 to me. After flash custom rom and do some "Tweak" with the setting and skin. Even some iphone fanboy will play my phone while we hangout.
This phone is great. With a custom ROM it runs ultra fast. I recommend IC 3.3.1 with it.
I have a T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4G with issues and T-mobile will swap to another SGS4G or a HTC Sensatation, or a LG G2X.
While not the problem triggering the swap, the GPS on the Samsung Galaxy S line has been awful. How good is the one on Sensation?
Samsung has been awful at firmware updates. GB just released a few days ago for the phone, and ICS is likely way off if ever. I know HTC has promised ICS for the Sensation. Has HTC been good with timely updates and source code?
I'm a bit put off by HTC forcing Sense on top of Android. Are there alternative rom's with more generic Android? I don't know enough about Sense to know the issues, but I'm fearful of losing other Google features or updates.
The Galaxy is easy to root and add CWM recovery. Is there any issue with this on the Sensation? (Don't now if there is a locked boot loader issue.)
One thing I do like on the Galaxy is the scratch resistant gorilla glass. Is it any different on the HTC? I don't use a case.
Besides the answers to those questions, are their any issues I should know about the Sensation, or any reason I should consider the LG instead?
1. Gps works fine havent had any issues.
2. not sure about timely dates for things on sensation ... gb has been on it for a while if that helps :-\ i hear ICS sometime early next year( rumor?)
3. Sense is nice has alot of cool features deff worth trying out, if not can switch around to nonsense roms / cm7 etc.
4.Thread in development for s-off cwm etc very easy to do.
5. Sensation has gorrila glass aswell
If someone offered me an LG g2x id grab my phone and take off running in the opposite direction screaming at the top of my lungs. heard nothing but terrible things about that phone specifically..
Sensation is a nice phone compared to Galaxy S 4g... id pick Sensation but thats just me...

I would definitely switch your phone out for either the G2x or Sensation.
Each phone has it's own set of problems. SOME, and only some G2x's suffer from reboots and wake problems. But I've never experienced that so for me the G2x has been awesome and stable. Tegra 2 is far better than the Sensations Snapdragon.
As for the Sensation, I've never owned one so I can't really comment on it. I just know some duffer from HTC's terrible quality control. And a lot of G2x people that went to Sensation, came back to the G2x because of the Sensation's lag and touch screen problems.
Anyways, I like the Sensations 4.3'' screen with qHD so that's a big plus. And it has a lot of ROM's to chose from. I like the G2x because of it's build control and superb speaker quality, and of course the Tegra 2 processor. So it's up to you which one you like better.
Once thing that is for sure, is to dumb the SGS4G. That phone is good, but updates and no CM7 kills the experience.
I switched from the galaxy s to sensation. For same issues you expressed.
I had a hard time picking between g2 x and sensation. G2x is definitely faster out of the box mostly because there is no sense on it. The sensation however won the game when i had it in my hand. It's sturdy and reliable. If you do not like sense apply a no sense script to which ever Rom you flash and there you go. You could also apply The super smooth and ultra smooth sense mods. They help with eliminating the lag.
I always had issues with GPS and navigation on my galaxy. And I grew tired of the iPhone style they had. HTC came with variety for me with options to make it my own. Sensation all the way.
You wouldn't be disappointed with the g2x but you wouldn't be missing anythig with the sensation.

a friend of mine has the SG II and I have had a play with it, TouchWiz is awful compared to Sense, thats a big plus for the Sensation in my eyes.
