i don't think, it will upgrade your hboot. but i'm not sure. now i have a question. what is the difference between odexted and deodexted?

Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space. Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk. This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything.
ahh okay. i understand. thank you!
i just tried to install but i get the following error message in recovery
"Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.

It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockworkmod 3.0 gingerbread based recovery

Download this File, open your ROM and replace all files with files from download.
updater-binary to META-INF --> com --> google --> android
updater-script to META-INF --> com --> google --> android
superuser.apk to system --> app
busybox to system --> xbin
sqlite to system --> xbin
su to system --> xbin
Final is: Edify script, superuser und busybox is include on ROM.

I've uploaded a new version (v1.2) of the modified RC30 update.
http://rapidshare.com/files/165227766/update_TC4-RC30_full_xda-dev_v1.2.zip
http://android-dls.com/forum/index.php?f=24&t=189&rb_v=viewtopic(see forum post for link to actual file)
You must have the modified recovery image installed before trying to install this.
Install as per usual - copy to sd card, rename to update.zip, reboot, enter recovery mode and hit alt+s.
(here's a guide on how to install in Italian - thanks Deedend!)
The primary new features in this version are
- adb shell now works in recovery mode
- a real su (instead of the setuid copy of sh in the last version)
- lots of new goodies in /system/xbin and /system/modules
Other things that have changed from v1.1
- This version has a kernel compiled by Saurik, with more core stuff "turned on", to support more modules (Specifically, /dev/mem and /dev/kmem are available now)
- new features in init
- support for mounting to loop devices
- move flag for mount
- mknod that can wait for a device
- chdir, chroot, usleep, include, trigger- Changed the init.rc so that it will include /system/init.rc and /data/init.rc, so you can easily add new startup stuff, without having to rebuild/reflash boot.img
- Changed the boot-up recovery flash to look for a file at /data/recovery.img instead of /system/recovery.img, and also to delete recovery.img after a successful flash
- changed the "mount" symlink to be busybox's mount instead of toolbox's mount
- added an /etc/fstab file that busybox's mount can use, that lists the standard system partitions.
- changed the fingerprint back to the official RC30 fingerprint (don't want to let google know you're using a modified build)
- using a newer version of busybox
- moved busybox from /system/bin to /system/xbin
Note: A big thanks to Saurik (the "debian on Android" guy ) for all the changes to init and the kernel, as well as the modules in /system/modules. He also tweaked and recompiled a newer version of busybox. He recently posted his own update that I shamelessly stole this stuff from (with his permission )
It also includes the changes that were made in v1.0 and v1.1. namely
- set ro.secure=0, ro.debugable=1, and persist.service.adb.enable=1 in /default.prop, to enable adb to run as root
- Added the ability to mount to a loop in init
- Mount /system/xbin/xbin.cramfs into /system/xbin in init.rc
- Looks for a recovery image to flash at /data/recovery.img instead of /system/recovery.img, and deletes the recovery image after a successful flash
- added back in the telnetd command from RC29
-----
For those who have installed the stock RC30 update: no, you cannot install this update. You must have a modified recovery image installed to apply the update, and you have to have root access to install a modified recovery image. You can't get root access in stock RC30, so you can't install a modified recovery image, and so you can't install this update.

im gonna try this on my stock rc28... let u know tha good tha bad n tha ugly

No. If you're running stock RC30, and don't have my recovery image installed, you're out of luck, until another root exploit is found.
Does this include all the regular upgrades that the rc30 was going to bring like the battery fix ? And So i dont mess up how do i install the modified recovery image correctly ?
What mod we have to install it? since is not signed with google key it will not load on 29 at all.

You can't run telnetd just by typing it in on the keyboard anymore. You have to open a terminal (terminal emulator, pterminal, or with adb shell), and get root access if needed (su), and then type "telnetd &" (the & at the end tells it to run in the background)
Update using official patch file
You must be runnning the stock FRF85B release with stock recovery. Copy that file to the root of your sdcard, rename to update.zip, launch recovery (power on with volume down held), press power and volume up when the warning triangle icon appears then select 'apply update.zip'.
Download: Google
Update.zip to flash with custom recovery
This is the totally stock FRF91 repacked as update.zip. The radio hasn't changed since FRF50, so if you are using it, you can keep it and install the noradio version.
Download:
- without radio image: multiupload (md5sum: 041b1e21433e636340ca6b56f141a315)
Root
To root FRF91, just flash this update.zip (contains busybox, superuser.apk, su, unsecured boot.img) (md5sum: c6c27598c210576792d6d56738a2edde)
Addons pack
Just flash this update.zip (md5sum: 7cf8074d3685681728043f367e6b35fd) contains :
- cyanogenmod 6.0 kernel (2.6.34 overclockable to 1113mhz using setcpu)
- dev tools in xbin
- hudge apn list
The three updates can be flashed at the same time (I mean without rebooting between the flashes), just flash it in this order: base system, root then addons and reboot

Everything you need to know is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
i see so first start with the step 1 -4 if i am correct ! before go to a custom rom ?
any suggestion what rom is best now?
You need to following instructions to get s-off and rooted.
After that, you download ROM manager from market. Or read how to flash ROM on each ROM threat.
Send from: gplus.to/everyday
what is rom manager is that specially made for all the custom roms that are made here..?
sort of a one click installer?
Is there a diffrent approach how rom manager appLy the custom rom or always better to flash in the way is written in the thread?
thx i found a link
where it describes rom manager

Yes.
You need tο S-Off, root, SuperCID, install custom recovery in order to flash a custom rom.
You have to do it once. Then flashing roms is piece of cake (software actually) .
If you do S-Off, root, SuperCID then install Rom Manager (free) from the market to flash latest recovery. It' s the easy way.
you dont need root to install a custom rom??
ok thx
lots of work to get a custom rom ..
how long will it approx take ? the whole ride??
and rom manager can load all custom roms??
any suggestions for what rom is best ..so with less bugs ( better no bugs )
Q: do all the custom roms have dutch languages? ( is this same as ; all locales ? )
ok there is not a "best "rom, otherwise i will offend some people here..
but can y tell me with rom you have and why that one?
roms needs to have dutch ! can anyone tell me if all roms have that??
at A ndroid R evolution HD rom i read this:
You need:
•HTC Sensation S-OFF - Guide to S-off, Installing ClockWork, PermRoot, SuperCID & Flashing
•ClockworkMod Recovery 4.0.1.4 from AlphaRev or 5.0.1.0 from ROM Manager
How to flash:
Don't use ROM Manager! Flash ROM following the steps below:
•Download ROM and place it on your SD card
•Download "Super Wipe" script & place it on your SD card (optionally if coming from earlier version of my ROM, obligatory if coming from stock or other custom ROM)
•Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol down + power)
•In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard"
•Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of "Super Wipe" script
•Once again select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of Android Revolution ROM
•After flashing process is complete, reboot the device
Why does it say you need rom Manager and later Do not use Rom Manager ??

Noob's Guide in Flashing ARHD 6.3.x (UPDATE)
Hello there, I have noticed that many of the noobs like me are having trouble in flashing the newer ICS ROMs, Particularly mike1986's latest ARHD 6.3.0 XE ROM.
It's OKAY if I don't get recognition for my work. But my ultimate goal is to help Noobs like me
DO ask questions if there are any queries about the guide! I will be more than glad to help you.
Disclaimer
1. I Do NOT hold responsibilty in any bricked devices that are caused when following this guide.
2. I Do not own anything in the links provided. These are results of hardwork of mike1986, ziggy1001, xl VipeR lx, madmaxx82, Kohr-Ah & Hawke84.
3. Also you could visit joaquinf for a similar guide.
Basic Information
1. You will need, a HTC Sensation/XE/4G which is S-OFF and SuperCID-ed(optional - you will know later). xl VipeR lx made a guide on this Here
S-OFF in this case allows the Flashing of Files(Security Off) and SuperCID allows the flashing of ANY ROM to the device regardless of the carrier.
2. You will also need, a custom Recovery(4EXt, Clockwork Recovery etc), this actually Flashes the files, whereas S-OFF ALLOWs the flashing of files.
3. Please note to ALWAYS check the MD5 Checksum to prevent any bad downloads, which may result in bricking when flashed.
Preparation
1. Always, Always ALWAYS make a NANDROID backup of your current ROM. To do so, go to your Custom Recovery and Backup the Whole ROM.
What this does is that it simply backup everything ( setting, rom, software, etc.. ) and put it on your SD Card. If something was to happen(bad flash, bootloops etc), You can just go in recovery, and recover your phone with that. It then reinstall everything the way it was.
2. Even though you have already made a NANDROID backup of your current ROM, DO make a backup of your apps using Titanium Backup or System Tuner, So that later on when you are on a new ROM, you could still recover all your Applications & data that you installed on the previous ROM.
3. Download the Latest 3.30 firmware package by mike1986 from here
This is required due to the ROM being build on the 3.30 RUU* Base. Firmwares are basically what your phone needs to run the ROM.
4. Alternatively you can download the latest User friendly 3.30 firmware by Kohr-ah from here
To get your CID, To get your CID, you can simply use an app called CID Getter from the app store. After getting your CID number, just download the CORRECT file for your CID and download it!
5. Download the latest 4EXT Recovery Touch by madmaxx82 from here
6. Download the Suggested Radio, Superwipe Script and the Latest 6.3.x XE or 6.3.x ROM from here
7. Remember to check all of their MD5 Checksum with the MD5 Checksum provided by the Download Host. You could use FastSum to do so.
Now that all of the preparation is done, It's time for the actual flashing. Be warned!
Flashing the Firmware:
1. Copy the Latest firmware package (PG58IMG.zip) you have previously downloaded into the Root of your SD card("Main Page")
2. Copy both the Superwipe and the ROM files into the SD Card. Preferably the Root of your SD Card.
3. Power down your device and make sure it is fully off-ed and not in Hotboot mode. (Tip: Try pulling battery)
4. Boot your device into bootloader, if you still don't know how to do that by now, it's by holding down the Power button + Volume down together till a white screen with words(not HTC) appears.
5. Make Sure you have done SuperCID and the SuperCID number should be 11111111 (or not if you are using the "User Friendly Firmware Package")
6. The firmware package should be found seconds after you booted into Bootloader, press the power button to confirm update.
7. Let the bootloader do it's work and you are done! - Tip: Your device is expected to update halfway, then reboot back into bootloader and continue updating. In the meantime DO NOT TOUCH YOUR DEVICE.
It's is to note that Firmware 3.30 still has Fastboot commands enabled. This means that fastboot commands like getvar, push, fastboot reboot etc is enabled. This is usually related to ADB.
Now that You are done with the Firmware, now lets move on to the ROM. If you are coming from below version 6.3.x you MUST flash the Superwipe Script first before flashing the ROM, for instructions to flash Superwipe Script, see SuperWipe below.
Flashing the ROM:
1. Eject your SD card and boot into Bootloader.
2. Your Bootloader should now read
-Revolutionary-
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1100
RADIO-(your flashed radio)
*unchanged*
2. Select Recovery Mode and then quickly & swifly re-insert your SD Card.
3. Optionally, you could connect your Device to the PC using the "Toggle USB Storge" funtion on your recovery to delete the PG58IMG.zip. This would make your life easier.
4. Now, while you are in your recovery, select "install from sdcard" and navigate to your Superwipe zip and install it. Your device will now reboot automatically into Recovery again.
5. Now select "install from sdcard" again and navigate to your Android Revolution HD 6.2.x file and install it like you did to the superwipe.
6. Remember to select the Tick ONLY WHEN your device is HTC Sensation 4G at the first option (Tmos Fix).
7. Remember to select the Cross ONLY WHEN your device is HTC Sensation XE when it prompts you which Kernel you are installing. Removed as of ARHD 6.3.0
8. Do select the Tick for the Bravia Engine Support for more goodies!
9. After finishing the installation, select reboot at the Recovery Homepage and you are done!
10. Do note that first boots may last from 5mins to 20 mins.
Now, After flashing both the Firmware and the ROM, it's time to flash the suggested radio for ARHD 6.3.x
Flashing the Radio(optional):
1. Open your downloaded Radio file and connect your device via USB to the computer.
2. Select Charge only (works for me)
3. Drag the radio.img from the Zip file to the root of your adb folder(previously used in Writing SuperCID) and Open up the "Start Here.bat" file
4. Type in the Following Commands.
Code:
cd C:\adb
adb devices - to check whether is your device connected
adb reboot bootloader - your device should reboot into Fastboot Bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio.img - now let your "start here.exe" do all the work
5. When the "start here.exe" shows "finished. Total time: ---", type in this next,
Code:
fastboot reboot
Your phone should reboot & everything is done!
SUPERWIPE
1. At recovery, select "Install from SD Card"
2. Navigate to Superwipe script
3. Wait for it to finish flashing. - ARHD's Script should reboot your device back into Recovery.
4. Done.
How to make the best of your phone?
1. Now that you have completed flashing your ROM, you can proceed to Restoring your apps. Do take note to NOT restore system apps or system data.
2. Get Root Explorer and edit your Build.prop file (remember to Mount R/O - Open in text editor) and look for
Code:
# Increase overall touch responsiveness
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=60
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
Change the 60 you see into 150 and you should get something like this
Code:
# Increase overall touch responsiveness
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=150
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
Remember to Save the File! Root Explorer should also create a backup of the old Build.prop file.
3. To improve smoothness, you can also purchase System Tuner PRO and do the following settings.
Go into CPU settings, And set the governor to interactive, tap boot settings. Select "Force CPU1 Online" (to run both cores).
To offset some of the battery hit, I go to Screen Off Behavior, select On Demand governor with a max CPU speed of 540mhz. I leave the in call settings as is because I tend to do other things like look up information while in a call.
Set all the tweaks (such as sd card tweak, CPU settings, and Force ALL CPU Online) to run at boot completed. (as of 1.3, I now have them set as init.d script)
Reboot and I am done.

Reverting to Gingerbread or below
Here's a brief explanation on what's going to happen.
1. You will have to flash firmware 1.17 - with referrance to "Flashing the Firmware" above.
2. You will then have to flash the previously downloaded Superwipe script
3. Only Then you could Restore your Nandroid backup if you have one, or flash your downloaded Gingerbread ROM.
4. And lastly flashing the Reccommeded Radio for that particular ROM or Backup.
If you have superCID, (11111111), use the 1.17 Hboot from here.
If you don't, use the 1.17 Hboot from here. Do note to download the right file with referrance to your MID and CID.
Hope you enjoy ARHD 6.3.x/ARHD 6.3.x XE.
Cheers!

Nice guide but I did not think that you can do advanced fastboot commands like pushing a radio after doing the firmware update?

You need Root Explorer (or any root exploring app) to do this.
It should be located under System folder. Remember to Mount R/O if you are using Root Explorer!

For ARHD 6.2.x/ARHD 6.2.x XE you need or need not SuperCID.
You could flash the firmware package from this Thread
To get your CID, you can simply use an app called CID Getter from the app store.
After getting your CID number, just download the CORRECT file for your CID and flash it. You should be alright!
Cheers!
Thanks for this!

No, Thank YOU for your wonderful work
Had to move this to general, as it is not development nor a general guide, of which there is a number in development forum already.
Best is to tell arhd dev to include it in his thread.
Cheers
Alrighty
I thought you don't have to flash new radio, if you flashed firmware ?! Isn't radio included in it ?
Finally with help from people from many other forums Defy with BL7 was rooted.
For now we have no script to make it on the phone without wipe but I'm very happy that it's working.
Rooting Procedure
1. Wipe phone twice (2x make Wipe Data/Cache in stock recovery)
2. Flash 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 CN or 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 Retail.en.EU CEE (It doesn't matter what version of this two You flash but it must be the same with version from point 4).
3. Wipe again (Data/Factory Reset)
4. Flash rooted SBF 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 CN Rooted SBF Part.1, 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 CN Rooted SBF Part.2 or 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 Retail.en.EU CEE Rooted SBF
Thanks List:

- coelho_ from XDA for help and translation ShellRoot procedure
- Joe31 from XDA for CEE Rooted SBF

- free2livefrom XDA for testing and helping with patching under linux
- and everyone who tried to help in this thread - THANK YOU
Old Post to let everyone know what we worked here.
Code:
I couldn't find any thread about rooting it and only few posts under roms threads so maybe we can start here. I was making backup of rooted DFP-231 en.EU but after this by mistake I restored 2.3.5 DFP-125 and I needed to reflash my Defy with full sbf of DFP-231 cause to make OTA I had to upgrade to BL7 so any chance to restore my backup is root full sbf DFP-231.
I was trying:
Root Tools:
- (XT800+)ROOT_MOTO_2.3.6
- Defy_2.3.6Root
- DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su
- DROID 3 easy root script v7
- ME525 2.3.6 Root
- ROOT_MOTO_2.3.6
- root4defy134
- SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse
- ZOC_FlashMasterV1.70
- unlockroot23-eng
- Motofail for Droid 4 and Razr
- SuperOneClick with new Exploit motofail hangs on 5th step
Downgrade to:
Every verion MB525, MB526, ME525, ME525+ starting from early versions of Eclair ending on DFP-2311 but only DFP-188 and DFP-231/DFP-2311 has BL7 and on all other verion phone is dead.
I was trying also modding sbf files by myself and few from Walter79 on DFP-188 thread and trying to force reflash under stock recovery but unfortunately still no luck and every time I had bootloader error or just dead phone.
From last few days I'm monitoring all German, Chinese, Spain and Russian forums about rooting this but still even no clue.
Only thing I learn is that every tool for root has problems with writing su app to phone so I think script to make it is wrong but I'm new in android and I have no idea how to edit it. I tried superuser under Ubuntu 11.04 also but I couldn't mount phone so another fail.
I'm screwed with BL7 so if someone have some ideas I'm opened for most options.
are you try this ...3 link attached from xda http://www.android-hilfe.de/2729429-post10.html
All tries to repack and pack back sbf ending with bootloader error.
and if you flash the su zip http://www.android-hilfe.de/2742491-post20.html
Signature Verification failed. Walter79 posted recovery from 4.5.1-134-DFP-74 for root with stock recovery but bootloader error after flash.
Someone (walter79 I think) was talking of a tweaked sbf that could do the trick. Basically to create this you need to
1) unpack the bl7 sbf to a folder and get cg39.smg.
2) Mount cg39.smg as ext4 in ubuntu (sudo mkdir /mnt && sudo mount cg39.smg /mnt -o loop).
3) Now place su binary(su) in /mnt/xbin and Superuser.apk in /mnt/app (To find these files look inside superonclick zip archive)
5) Set perm (sudo chmod +x /mnt/xbin/su)
6) Unmount (sudo umount /mnt)
7) Repack sbf.
8) Flash your phone with new sbf using Rsdlite
9) See if it's booting, if yes, let us know.
10) If no, reflash orginal sbf again.
Find most tools you need here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
Ok, I'll try it and maybe it gonna work but I'm afraid that bootloader error shows after repacking sbf.

If this fails with bl error it means that bl7 somehow checks the patency of mmcblk1p31 during boot. If that's the case then rooting these new sbf will be very very very difficult.
---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:36 PM ----------
Edit : use motoandroidepacker 1.3 from http://and-developers.com/sbf

Hi.
Yes it is like this,i tried a things above, the result is boot err.
Tried, mount CG39.smg (no moding) umount than flash, Bootloader err.
I could try 1 more thing, from rooted telephone (bl7) you can pull CG39.smg by ADB.
adb shell:
su
dd if=/dev/block/system of=/sdcard/CG39.smg
Edit this, than flash.
Thanks
Ok, I did what You said and used files from superuser site (bin su ofc) and unfortunately Bootloader error Err:A5,69,35,00,27 and after simple repack and build again without modification CG39.smg phone booting normally.

Just to confirm : Did you use MotoAndroidDepacker 1.3? If it was MAD 1.2x, please repeat the steps with MAD 1.3.
I could see that you used a control to verify if depacker is working properly. That's smart. You could also try this: make a new sbf that only contains the modified cg39.smg. Delete other smg after depackin. Make sure that you use MAD 1.3. Good Luck.
OFC I did all on MAD 1.3 but I think that problem isn't in content of package but modding CG39 cause after rebuilding clean sbf everything working fine and as someone said after only mount and unmount CG39 without modding bios shows error.
Hi, new update for T-Mobile DFP-188 shows up and it's available here but already edited by uploader. I didn't installed it but I downloaded it and tried to modify it by myself. Added su, Superuser.apk and busybox from root4defy134 and added permissions for update script under rest of bin permissions but ofc after trying flash it by stock recovery, recovery shows error at verification. So maybe someone have any idea how to modify it to add root files and update?? Or maybe there isn't any chance to do it??
I want to talk about his attempt to gain root access. I have a PC installed eclipse and android SDK. If you try to copy any file in the System folder at once shows the error (read only filesystem). Today I tried to use the Kindle Fire Utility. Now, almost enable to copy the file to the section of System (ie it is copied by 99% and then gives an error). It seems to me that it might somehow help.
