DOWNLOAD Mirror 2 (MS-skydrive) /MobilePhone/MotorolaDefy/CustomRoms/4.5.1-134 DFP 74
To begin:
Put the Nandroid backup folder 4.5.1-134walter on the SDCard in this folder:
Code:
/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
Installation for red lens:
Install official FroYo (if you have CM7, Miui, or any other rooted Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread with 2nd-init enabled rom go to step 4)
After setting up FroYo, root it.
Install CWM via 2nd-init from market.
reboot and run 2nd-init (voldown on blue LED)
Go to "Recovery"
Go to "Custom Recovery"
Go to "Wipe data"
Go to "Backup and Restore"
Go to "Restore"
Select "4.5.1-134walter" and confirm
reboot. You should get stuck in a black screen.
Flash the FixedSBF now (pull battery --> go to bootoloader VOLUP+Power, flash /defy/fixed-sbf via RSD-lite)
After this process is finished the phone should reboot. Booting up can take a while, max is about 10 minutes.
Charge your phone to 100% and keep it charging for an hour after.
Calibrate your battery using the batterycalibration from market
Insall method with SOC green camera
1. Start from 2.2 Froyo (I use JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_179-002_DEBLUR_CEE.sbf)
2. Root it.
3. Install CWM via 2nd-init from market. Put 4.5.1-134walter folder from this to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
4. reboot to recovery -> custom -> wipe data -> restore -> 4.5.1-134walter
5. reboot and press power+vol up for bootloader
6. Flash 4.5.3-109-fixed.sbf (first start takes several minutes)
7. Go back to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and install Greenbreadmod 1.1
8. (wipe cache and dalvik) and install NEW_3D-fix_customization
9. (wipe cache and dalvik and reboot)
720p record and play, panorama patch View attachment 720p-panorama-defy-plus.zip

[HowTo] Show hidden Market Apps on Gingerbread Roms

I decided to create a new topic in dev, as this issue affected me in MS2Ginger, CM7 and MIUI, and users from any of these roms could benefit from the info.
If this should be on General, I'm sorry mods, here seemed more appropriate.
Guys, for those like me that couldn't see some apps on Market after using Gingerbread ROMs, I found a workaround after some research that worked for me.
* I just tested it on MIUI but it should work on others.
Basically the Market checks the build.prop for the fingerprint, so I used this one from Nexus S on 2.3.4 and had no issues so far.
Code:
ro.build.description=soju-user 2.3.4 GRJ22 121341 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=google/soju/crespo:2.3.4/GRJ22/121341:user/release-keys
*If someone can provide build.prop or fingerprint from Milestone 2 would be great. Didn't want to flash stock froyo just for that. Tried to find a build.prop from any Droid with gingerbread with no success, and I'm downloading now the leak from Droid 2 Global to test.
To use it :
adb pull /system/build.prop c:\where\you\want\to\put\it\
backup the file
open with notepad++ (I guess wordpad would work too) and replace with the fingerprint
save
adb remount ( or mount /system r/w using root explorer )
adb push c:\where\you\want\to\put\it\build.prop /system/
adb reboot
changes to references to defy(jordan) made my lights and torch stop to work. will wipe the build.prop from first post until find a fix
For those who already applied it, Sorry!
Below it's the original build.prop for MIUI 1.8.19 (will5) with the fingerprint changed but the original fingerprint commented for easy rollback in case of any new bugs noticed due to this change

[ROM] SGH-T679 // VKJ1 // Stock // Deodexed // Rooted //Busybox

This is the rom that ships on the Samsung Exhibit II 4G with a few added extras.
The most essential tools have been added to this stock rom including root (su and superuser) as well as busybox.
The whole rom itself has also been deodexed.
Why would I want a deodexed rom?
A deodexed rom allows for developers to theme the rom and tweak certain apps as they wish. It also make removing bloat alot easier.
Benefits of a stock rom?
Other than providing you with a rooted stock experience that is also deodexed, this rom will allow you to recover your phone in the situation that you have a custom recovery but your phone isn't booting to the lockscreen.
How to Flash
Booting into ClockworkMod Recovery. (Install ClockworkMod)
To boot into ClockworkMod Recovery (where we will be flashing the downloaded rom we put on our SD card) we have to power down the phone.
Then you simply need to hold the power button and the volume up button after 5 seconds release the power button and continue to hold the volume up till the ClockworkMod Recovery menu come up.
Wiping data/factory reset.
Once we are in recovery we will notice and option in the main menu to Wipe
Data/Factory Reset
Flashing the rom!
Now that we have followed all of the above steps and made sure to wipe data/factory reset, we are ready to flash the rom!
Choose "Install Zip from SD Card" from the main menu, and browse for the rom you put on your SD card.
Select yes and the process will begin.
Reboot.
When recovery reports to you that the flash is done and completed you can select reboot from the main menu, and your phone will reboot into the rom.
Also you can make a backup (nandroid) with ClockworkMod and is highly recommended prior to flashing anything!
Just for Developers!
Template for custom roms.
A rooted stock rom is useful as a base for many custom roms that developers create.
An updater-script that is guaranteed to work.
Just below is an updater-script that is guaranteed to work, it can be edited and tweaked to your liking but it currently does boot the rom and is used in this rom I've posted.
Enjoy!

[9001][Recovery] Fixed FeaMod V1.4 [FINAL PROPER] [No BootLoops] [NonOC] [NonUV]

This is a fixed version of manveru0's FeaMod recovery V1.4 (aka CWM recovery v 5.5.0.4) so all credits go to him.
Disclaimer: this piece of software is not for the unexperienced and might bring you in a situation you can't resolve yourself. So don't use it if you fear the potential danger of bricking your device. I am responsible for nothing related to this piece of software and therefore won't help. If you decide to use it anyway you agree to be ultimately responsible for all consequences that may occur. So you have been warned !
Terms of use: Remember the power of reading ! If you can't find some particular information on the first page use the search function, it is your best friend.
Besides there are even guides and tutorials all over the forum and in most cases your question was already answered.
If you take a moment and read through the WHOLE post below and a few more moments to read some of all the stuff in other device related threads of this forum, you will find ALL you need just there.
It's not invisible so you CAN find it. And forum rules and good manners tell you to do it exactly like this. And I WILL ignore every question that is already answered here.
Obey the rules !
Recovery feature list
- the internally used kernel to boot CWM recovery is not overclocked and not undervolted and uses Samsung's stock kernel settings so it should work on any i9001 phone (it's different from manveru0's release and I already released this fix in January in the original FeaMod thread)
- reworked the integrated script in recovery startup sequence that takes care about the recovery reboot issue automatically so no more rebooting into recovery again and again once and for all (reported to work finally by wintel_mac, thanks for testing all releases)
- the CWM 5.5.0.4 recovery itself remains totally untouched and is the very same as in FeaMod V1.4; for any more information on that please refer to the original FeaMod thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331164
- the package includes only the recovery image so anything else on your phone remains untouched including your boot kernel; the recovery partition has its own kernel integrated which is only used for booting CWM recovery, in all other cases your original kernel in the boot partition is used - primarily for booting android that is

This version is meant for use with ANY i9001 ROM including stock ROMs, custom ROMs and even AOSP ROMs as well (as soon as the latter are actually available)
Install instructions:
1. If you don't have already any CWM version (FeaMod Recovery) install V1.2 via Odin first. If you never heard of that learn all about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331164
2. Now make a complete nandroid backup of your phone with CWM
3. Download the attached CWM zip package
4. Copy it to your internal sdcard
5. In CWM choose "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from internal sdcard"
6. Select the downloaded file "FeaModV1.4_Fixed_NoBootLoop_NonOC_NonUV.zip"
7. Confirm install with "Yes"
8. Wait till you see the message "Reboot to use Fixed FeaMod V1.4 !"
9. Do so like the message says.
10. On first reboot the fix to cure the recovery reboot wasn't yet executed so you will end up in recovery once again (if your phone is affected with that issue) !
11. So you have to reboot into system once again and from now on everything will be fine, promised That is if you installed it properly and exactly like described above.

If anything went wrong during install just try again.
If you can't boot into recovery anymore just install FeaMod 1.2 via Odin again.
If you want to install Fixed FeaMod V1.4 directly via odin just extract the recovery.img only from the zip file and tar it. Then flash it via Odin in one package mode. If you don't know how to do that refer to the flash guides in this i9001 subforum or use the above described method only. If you still can't handle anything of that don't use FeaMod/CWM at all, you will most probably brick your phone with it.
The experienced users (ONLY !!!) can also use dd of course to flash the recovery.img directly to the appropriate partition
If you got severe errors AND didn't make a backup because you knew better than the developer don't even dare to beg for help.
If you encounter any other errors report them here but be sure that this is no feature or problem that was already described above.

Ooops, this means the script isn't actually executed. Couldn't test it properly since my phone isn't affected by the issue. Will review that immediately.
Looks like im the wrong person to test this out
It always worked fine for me

Which would mean the script works but the CWM install routine doesn't.
@wintelmac: can you please attach the default.prop file that shows up when you boot into recovery ?
Code:
adb shell "cat /default.prop" > default.prop

Won't help since you are not affected by the issue anyway. New version already uploaded, wintel_mac can test it now.
It's kinda funny your's and my phone are not effected by the recovery bug,
but you'r kernel still managed to screw up my sdcard

Please, don't crosspost^^ It's about the recovery (which uses not even the skyhigh kernel), and not the kernel so it's simply uuuuuuseless here

OK, that's the right one, so the install routine works. Which is actually the only part that I could test on my own phone and it worked properly
A new version is already online, can you test that please ?

Since update it stuck at 2g, could somebody help out to revise BUILD.PROP to test?
i found the solution for those stuck on 2g speeds here in the US after flashing an RUU....your phone is probably on ICS 4.03 or 4.04 after you installed the official tmobile RUU...you have to keep checking for software updates on your phone until you get the official JB update installled from tmobile (it was officially posted at the end of April and available as a manual download through the "check software updates" option on your phone). i had to check for updates and install them about 5 times because the RUU i used restored my phone to ICS 4.03...i kept updating until i got to JB (it's going to be very large file, over 600mb).
IMPORTANT!!! --> after the update, your phone will still be stuck on 2g speeds....you them have to do a FACTORY RESET...yes, you have to wipe everything from your phone so make sure you backup to your laptop or something like that and then do a factory reset....once your phone reboots, it should now get 4g speeds (hspa+)...i read through alot of threads since my phone was tuck on 2g after i intalled the official tmobile RUU and finally got it to work after incrementally updating through the "check for software updates" option.
