Some part of the screen is unresponsive - HTC Desire S

Though it only happened once or twice, but sometimes some part of the screen stops working, particularly the mid part. Sometimes it gets OK when i lock and unlock the device, but the one that happened just now, i had to reboot the phone. Although I cant seem to replicate the problem.
Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas?

ive had this problem before. only seems to affect the keyboard. 1 or 2 keys at a time would become unresponsive. I havnt had the problem in about a month now though. Since using a new rom. I think this is software related.
What rom are u using?

Yeah I also had the keyboard problem. Changed ROM and problem solved. I was on hydrogen before

Can I do it and what Tom will be best for it?

Hi. I have unlocked bootloader, cwm recovery and I'm s-on. I can't change to s-off becouse of hboot version. Witch rom will be the best for speed and stability+gaming
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
For best aesthetics and performance, any AOSP ROM will do. Personally, I recommend CM7

Can I use cm7 to if I have s-on??
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
yes, you can. Although you'll need to flash the boot.img separately.
Why I need to flash boot image separately ? I can't just use rom manager to downlaod and instal??
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
sadly,no. You are not completely s-off (and you can't be s-off on new HBoot). You can flash ROM any way you want, but it won't boot until you flash the boot.img via fastboot.
Why always it is so complicated? ?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Sire it may be complicated at first, but it is really worth rooting and using a custom ROM.
They are x10 better than stock in every way

I will wait for full root on new hboot. I don't want to downgrade and then use revolutionary becouse revolutionary hboot is.not healthy for this phone

Nah, your wrong.
How is it not 'healthy for the phone'
doesn't make sense at all. Doubt there will be a new way to unlock it.
You'll just be on stock forever
Your loss...

Downgarde process is easy or pretty complicated? ? I read post about it and don't get it what do I need to do.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Well, I haven't tries myself to downgrade, so can't say.
Your decision. Do lots of reading before hand.
Its worth it though

I wasn't so hard but yes I made some mistakes in process wrong commands and I forgot to relock bootloader and I couldn't ruu old version. Now I'm all done and wana ask for the rom, witch is good and stabile
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Depends what your after mate
Do you like Sense, or do you want to try ICS? Or maybe pure 2.3 AOSP ROMs?
-------------------------------
Sent from my HTC Desire S
Ilike ICS but they are are not pretty complete, I want to try that CM 7 but there poeples saying it has SMS delay and I'm a big tiper. ICS only when they will implemente hardware acceleration
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
I've used cm7, oxygen and miui.us all are pretty good and stable but I prefer miui.us looks nice and it all works. Battery life and performance is good too.
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium
SMS delay? None here
Be sure to use the latest stbale build. Not nightlies if you want a bug free experience

Instaled cm 7.1 all so far is good but battery last 1 day only, same like sense rom, performance in dayly use is almost the same but in quadrant 3100 that's blows away stock where I can get Max 2000

When you first flash a ROM, your battery will drain faster on the first few charges
Try calibrating your battery. After that your battery should get much better

I did calibrate after first drain. But should battery need last longer?? And display no more take so much battery but mobile standby aand phone idel takes 40+%

Did you pull the battery at any point?
Check the connectors in the back of the battery cover to ensure they have a good .. connection..
Something might not have flashed right. Reflash the firmware and see if that fixes it.
I rarely open the back cover, it happened right after flashing the firmware. Could it be that i use a GB rom? I heard that it happens on ICS roms to some people.

Issues with Runnydroid V5.1

I wanted to see if anyone else was having these issues.
I got runnydroid V5.1 for the inspire last night and tried it out and its a good rom but has a couple things that if fixed i would go back to it.
Issue 1: I noticed that i turned on my phone and the time was running great. but after my class i took my phone out of standby and it automatically changed to military time which was very wierd!
Issues 2: I notice some graphic glitches when i shut down my phone or the sense part would be lagging alot.
I did a full wipe before V5.0 and flashed 5.1 over it so is anyone else having this issue? And did i do something wrong when flashing?
***HTC Inspire Currently with Android Revolution HD 7.0.3 S3.5***
Probably just a bug in the rom, is your phone overclocked? That may be why its glitching...oc to high

I actually never messed with the cpu settings but i did come from android revolution which has oc on it so that might be it. One of the problems would be when i shut down my phone it would say shutting down then show the home screen then shut off so.
Probably a bug, flash another rom and see if the same problems happen

Frozen after full night of charging (not bricked)

My wife's phone has the GB firmware from the firmware thread as well with matching rail. Phone was on elegancia GB but would heat up with custom kernel. Switched to Rc mix now.
On both ROMs after waking up in the morning the phone screen won't light up and the green led is on even unplugged. Phone won't turn on unless u do a battery pull and then the battery is completely dead with the red line through the battery. There is no app to control frequency
Can't figure it out

Nobody??? It also says something about select to return to dock mode in the top of emails

why still on GB? if a ROM acts up, change it.
Well it doesn't seem to be a problem with the rom as it happened with 2 gb sense roms but didn't happen on cm7
Anything other than gb causes the phone to random reboot

Did you upgrade your firmware before flashing any ICS ROM?
You must upgrade your firmware before flashing any ICS ROM, otherwise you will face random reboots..
What's the current status of the phone?
S-Off or S-On?? Bootloader locked or unlocked ??

Yes I know about the firmware update I have done that before flashing any ice rom 3.32 and 3.33
The reboots actually started before the phone was ever rooted when it was on the ota update of ics. So I rooted the phone with no improvement tried numerous roms, rils, and firmwares. Then s off with no fix until going back to gb.
I just flashed sensation XE mod 007 Tom yesterday and all seems to be fine now just gonna leave it like that since its not my phone its my wife's and she is just happy to have phone that works right
Phone has revolutionary hboot s off
Thanks for the help

How to tell if GPS hardware is broken

I am using Albino's CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 ROM, which works great. However, my GPS is not working. I've tried a bunch of apps from Google Play to try and resolve this issue but no luck. Is there a way to directly check the GPS hardware itself to determine if it is broken?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
Hi,
Very weird that you have a hardware problem.
You should make a cwm backup and flash a sense ROM like Mike's ARHD o elegancia.
if it works
Sent from my GT-P1000
If you want to check a hardware problem I would suggest you to try some stable rom like Stock,RevolutionHD,ViperS or Revelation to see if your gps works on some of them.Don't forget that CM10.1 versions are steel in testing mode.
Thanks guys. I'll give the alternate ROM approach a try...

Ah crap. Installed ARHD (which I have used before) and the GPS still didn't work. Looks like I may have gotten to end of life for my Sensation, a whole 2 years, by gosh
