Hello guys, I'm well and truly sick of my Samsung G5 I5500 after it has broke 3 times in 10 months (2 of which were hardware faults), I have got a brand new one as a replacement and I'm going to sell it, just wondering which phone i should purchase, here is what i am looking for;
Low budget phone (under £100- ideally)
QWERTY Keyboard
Wi-fi
3G
Chat style messaging
On a good Pay As You Go network (£10 top up, unlimited texts and some internet, I actually want more than 3000 texts though like TMobile who offer 999,999 texts a month for £5)
Does NOT have to be a smartphone.
Camera etc
I was looking at the Nokia C3 QWERTY or the Orange Rio II, but i would want a phone unlocked or on TMobile.
Thank you.
LG KS360 has a qwerty keyboard, and chat style messaging, but I recommend a cheap smartphone LG GT540.
zte monte carlo, very good phone in the UK.

Even tho the low budget, and even tho i hate LG like hell, I also think KS360 is a suitable phone followed by you'r specs.
I don't really like the look of the LG, I'm also not a huge fan of them seen as though my previous LG phone broke after a week! I was going to get the LG Optimus last year but decided not to.
Do you guys think the Orange Rio II is a good little phone?
http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/rio-II-Orange-black
Samsung Galaxy Mini or Gio best choice for you i think.
U must select android or Bada operating phones.
pony up and get a used hd2, you wont regret it
The Sony Ericsson X10 mini pro is about €130 and it's an Android QWERTY slider with touchscreen. That's value for money.
Thanks for all the replies guys, I'm just going to stick it out with my phone until Christmas then i can obviously increase my budget and buy a much better phone, I'll have about £150-200 for a new phone if i wait till then- any ideas?
I was thinking of a Wildfire S or Orange Monte Carlo
what about Samsung galaxy S?
Ill have a look now, thanks, I've just been looking at the HTC Wildfire S, seems like a nifty little phone.
I don't really want to buy second-hand, I like to have things new with all the extras and in a perfect condition- I'm one of them kind of people.
I was looking at the Monte Carlo but i can't be doing with all the bloatware from Orange, so I'm looking at the Wildfire S still- anyone got any opinions on that phone- regarding the speed of the phone, screen quality, the camera, does it run smoothly etc?
Thanks for all your help.

Hey guys,
I'm really stuck in deciding what to buy! I want to buy two android phones & here's the problem:
First one, I'm stuck between HTC Hero & HTC Magic, their hardware look same only difference is camera which I think is not that impressive in any of them! I've heard that Magic rooting procedure is way too dangerous! It may brick the phone easily! So isn't there a safe approach? Which one do you think is a better choice?
Second phone is somehow harder to choose! Don't know what to choose: X10 or Nexus One or Galaxy S! I really like to have a big screen since I want to watch movies on it while on the move. Also updating the OS & having new apps is important for me! I really like the specs of Galaxy S but no LED flash usually means no camera! I have heard Samsung does not care about support & software updates... If only HTC Evo was GSM compatible! It really looks perfect & just like what I need! What do you think? Which one's better in your experience? Do you think I have to wait for a better phone since I haven't seen any good GSM android under development!
Thanks in advance everyone!
BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nobody cares to say what would they choose?
Go for the Nexus One. I have one and it´s the best buy ever. (And I have always been a Nokia supporter) Forget about the X10, my colleague has bought one and must admit that it was a wrong decision. I have no knowledge of the Samsung phone, it could be ok, but who knows...? I have even purchased a used Iphone just to compare, (and to install Android on it of course), and the Apple device is nice, but not as nice as Nexus One.
You will never regret that you bought the Nexus One.
I'd agree with the above poster and go for the Nexus One... played with a mates one and its fantastic, and being Google made its gonna be kept well updated!
If Android were the only one OS in the world I would choose EVO or tmob 3g slide
Thanks its not
It's a shame there's no Evo on GSM network! Thanks guys, any experience from Galaxy S owners is appreciated!
Do NOT forget the X10, especially since it has been rooted. Look into it more.
How about HTC Desire? Which one is better, Nexus One or Desire?
Hi,
I am seriously considering to buy 2 phones for my mom and my cousin back home in india.
I have brought down the choices to ZTE Blade and Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. I myself have a Samsung Galaxy S and I love the Super AMOLED screen (which is almost same as the one in Blade).
My mom loves bejeweled, and my family has a history of using Sony Ericsson phones (every one loves sony ericsson). my cousin just needs a phone to use social networking features.
which ever phone I buy, I am going to unlock it and i have plans to install stock rom on it and make it updated(?).
I also have considered T-Mobile G1. Im confused.
which one should I buy?
I personally would not get the sony because they have a reputation of late updates. None of them are really 'fast' but the g1 has great support. Hit the thanks button below if this helped

My Choices of Smartphone
For me, I will choose none of them. (Purely from my point of view..no offense) Instead, if I'm going for:
WinMo(6.5): HTC. HTC have great bunch of winmo 6.5 operated smartphone which is working very nice and smooth.
Recommended device: HTC HD2
Android: Google, Samsung. If my budget is lower, i will go for Google Nexus One if I'm going to buy an Android phone. But Samsung Galaxy S or Samsung Nexus S would be a better choice as the specs are much better and greater performance.
Recommended device: Google Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Nexus S
Windows Phone 7: HTC, Samsung. The new windows OS have a few distinct functions that should not be underestimated and it would probably be a great choice too for buying smartphones.
Recommended device: HTC HD7, Samsung Omnia7
The small Sony androids aren't so good IMO...very small screen, tough to type on. Even the X10 mini pro with its hard-QWERTY has extremely small buttons making it very difficult to type on it.
For low price-range I would recommend the HTC wildfire. Its good as a basic social networking/normal user smartphone. The screen isn't too great, but excellent considering its price. You will also be able to run Bejeweled on it
ZTE Blade looks good for its price as well, but I am not familiar with the brand so I really cant give an opinion there. It doesn't have the same screen as the Galaxy S though, it employs an OLED screen (not SAMOLED). OLED is not as good for outdoor use as it tends to mirror a lot.
For a higher price-range Galaxy S or Nexus S...preferably the Nexus S which has some more hardware features.
im tending to buy a blade
Hello,
I think you should ask yourself a few questions :
- is the operating system importatant for you ? Android, Windows, Symbian ?
- What capacities ? Camera ? 3G ? GPS ? Budget ?
- WHAT NETWORK IN INDIA, specially for the 3G : what frequency ? Samsung is UMTS 900/2100Mhz, Nokia is UMTS 850/900/1900/2100/1700,.....
Personnaly, I saw the Xperia, I dont like it. I have a Galaxy 3 : it is very nice, except the 3G doesnt work in USA !
You do need to ask yourself those kind of questions first.
Regards
I bought myself a Nokia X3-02
and will get Blade today.
now I need to get it unlocked.
I need an unlocked phone
Thing iss my budget is 350
Maximum
I was thinking of getting a x10 used
or just get a samsung s.
Whats your opinion?
Thanks. Andriod only though. can you give me other choices ?
Thank you.
If you like messing around with your phone (Flashing, tweaking, modding, etc.) and the T-MOUS HD2 works in your area for 3G, go with that.
Otherwise, a used Nexus One or HTC Desire I'd say... The X10 isn't what it's cracked up to be.
Who is your carrier and in what country?
i don't like samsung ,because my sister have one , voice of it very low
Well I can start by saying there is a huge difference between a nexus s and a x10. They both suck. The nexus s is a Samsung and it's already falling behind many android phones about to be released, nexus s is much better than the Sony tho. I olwould wait a month or so and you can get a dual core. They are on the way.

Shop around. Keep your options open. Plenty of phones out there that are better than the x10 Sam S. Check Craigslist, ask your friends, etc. You can get a good deal for 350.
Desire Z/G2 is another option you might want to consider.
I bought my new desire hd a week ago and its amazing...highly recomended!
i think samsung galaxy s is the best at the moment
Hello all,
Im planning to buy a new phone with a maximum price of around 700 dollar. I was thinking about the iphone, so there is my price based on!!
I want to use my phone for music and movies, kind of media center. The camera isn't an important part. Just for the basic media. Also i like to have fast internet.
Gaming isn't also not really necessary.
I had touch and a qwerty before. I like the qwerty but touch only is ok too! So some options i would like beside the iphone! And how good is wm7? Because the interface looks extremely cool!
Thanks in advance,
Wouter
1. Basically, I do not like any of the WP7 handsets...beside...all of them are very cheap now...HTC Trophy is under €200 here where I live...they are simply a fail product to me..
2. I am an Android freak so I will pick an Android such as Samsung Galaxy S2 or HTC Sensation.
3. If you like iPhone 4, well... I am not a fan of it either...but you might also wanna consider it.
4. Nokia X7 and E7 are also not bad...you might wanna consider them too.
Forgot to be mentioned, E7, X7, Galaxy S2 and Sensation are the newest flagships.
They should have the best hardwares at the moment, even iPhone 4 is old compared to them.
never by symbians mobile for a while as the market is not improving with it as the android phones and the iphone are worth value.if u want a android phone of worth $700 here s the list
see for LG Optimus Black P970
Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II
Samsung
Google Nexus S I9020A
HTC Incredible S/Desire S/Wildfire S
Unless nokia is releasing thr windows phone by October we have to depend upon android OS
If you want the best of the best, I will narrow down things for you.
HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy SII are the best there is at the moment.

I checked the HTC sensation since i love the htc phones. I really like it. And it's android. By the way symbian ill never buy. Well, since im not really a fan of samsung i really want to eliminate that one, because i had two samsungs and i couldn't work with both.
Another question is, where is sony ericsson, is it completely off the market?
And by the sensation is mentioned on their site: 'Surround sound'. What kind of sound should i expect, not some crappy beta sound i hope? Someone that has experience with the phone?
Thanks for all your answers.
Greets,
Wouter
Sony ericson? well...Sony has not release any new phones, which I like...but the Xperia play does not look very bad either.
The thing is, if your eyes are already used to Sense, Sonys UI looks terrible
For 700$ (depending where you live) you can get most of the new phones. I myself would go for an Samsung Galaxy....unfortunately i am still stuck with my HD2 .
I was never a fan of the iPhone and for sure my next phone will be one with an Android system!
I've had a captivate for around a year.
It's pretty, and fast. Any Galaxy S/S II phones are really nice. It's pretty good for media. It has a decent battery. I have really enjoyed the phone.

Go with the Sensation if you like Sense 3.0. Or go with the Galaxy S 2 if you like Touchwiz 4.0.
The Galaxy S 2 have a much bigger internal storage by the way.

Just like my Desire.
Hello,
I'm not very keen on starting this kind of thread, but comparative information is pretty scarce on the internet.
I'm planning on getting my girlfriend an Android phone soon and I'm stuck between these 3 models due to my budget:
1. Sony-Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini
2. Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570
3. Motorola BackFlip
The Xperia was what she originally saw and liked, but in my opinion its not very good. The Samsung appears to be the safest bet, and the Motorola is something i've just seen 10 minutes ago and seems very good on paper (hardware-wise) but that screen seems too small and the keypad is not something she (or i) would like very much. Plus that flip mechanism i'm sure will not last very long.
Now i turn to you, the community, for opinions. I'm a bit stuck between these. Any input would be great!
Thanks!

The best for me is x10 mini...
1. X10 mini has many stuff u cn do n u cn root it n update to 2.3 cyanogen... Cons: lag of multitouch n qvga
2. Galaxy mini has ginger update too, but i dunt understand too much abt rooting it... Cons: qvga
Best : Able to overclocked to 800mhz
3. Backflip... I tink is lame...
But for a budget hvga fone, i recommended optimus one or x8...

Thank you for your reply. I know about Optimus One and it is superior to those 3 that i've mentioned. Unfortunately it's $35 US more expensive than my budget (my budget being what those 3 cost). This is a spontaneous decision and there is not a lot of money to be spent. She doesnt care that much about the technical side but she would enjoy the apps and everything and i could certainly help her discover more about Android. She prefers the smaller devices as well. So no optimus one.
I might just end up with the samsung. Im still not sure.

My wife has a backflip, I got it for her in July and its been durable but broken a few otterbox cases (just the front piece). The best rom has been cyanogen mod 7.1 even tho it frequently freezes it has performed way better than the stock 1.5 & 2.1 that Motorola provides. If a good phone is above your budget, just spend the extra lil bit. It'll be worth it in the end.
