Zune says PC and Hotmail are different countries - cannot login - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So please help:
I have Hotmail for 13 years.
Now Zune finally starts to support my country (Poland).
So when I want to login to Zune on my PC, Zune says country/region of my PC and Hotmail are not the same so I cannot be logged in.
Apparently 13 years ago Hotmail didn't even exist for Poland so I couldn't even locate my account for Poland.
So what can I do? I don't want to change my account of course and it is already attached to my phone. I can't login to Zune.

You can change country in Regional and country settings in Control Panel in Windows.

No no. I am not going to change my country/regional setting of my PC, why should I?! Idiotic.
I talk about changing Hotmail regional settings, it's logical and should be easier.

hmm i don't know if it's help but try here: https://account.live.com/EditProf.aspx

Unfortunately that link doesnt help. It says one thing there and one thing on the "Zune-side" of the account. When trying to add a CC to my Live-account it tells me that I live in the US (because when I first bought my hd7 i lived in the US), but now i I have moved back to Sweden. Result: I cannot use the Marketplace.
MS: When will you EVER learn...

Thanks but Zune still says the same thing!

So you say you CAN'T just easily change the country in your Hotmail in order to use Zune in your country?!
If this is true it means MS is really driven by idiots.

I don't get you.
My Windows is Polish, Hotmail set for Polish location.
So where is the problem?

This is madness. My live id is used as my developer id as a microsoft partner but I can't change the country back to the Netherlands.
Are they mad, mad mad , mad, yes..oh I know they want more live/zune users so now we all create a new one.....

Once you set the region in your live account (Zune, Hotmail, Xbox) you can't change it. I know it's absurd that you can't but that's how MS operates!!! they had the option of changing the country to newer xbox live enabled countries but that was very few (like South Africa).
I had set my country as UK for getting Xbox Live, and now i can't revert back to India. there have been numerous threads about this idiotic behaviour but no changes from MS yet.

Actually you can change the country on your Zune-account, BUT every app you have bought will have to be bought again and reinstalled as well. You will loose everything that has to do with Live/Zune/Marketplace on your phone according to the warning message I got when I checked it out.

Here are the install files for the treo 750v:
http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.palm.com/emea/BBCBISTreo750v.cab
Also here is the link to the manual:
http://euro.palm.com/de/de/support/handbooks/Blackberryconnect_Handbook_en.pdf
Let me know how it works for you.
I have everything installed and I think its gonna work but I just need the Desktop software. I tried to download the one stright from BB but it looks like I need another one.
Its called:: BBC Desktop for Windows Mobile
and the file name is: BBCDesktopTreo750v.Exe
I hope someone can find it.

help with install
Can you take me thru the install? I downloaded the cab file, but do not know what to do next?
I am also on Verizon with a 700w. I had the BIS service when I changed to Treo.
So far this is what I know.
There are 2 things that you need.. the .cab file and the " BBC Desktop For windows mobile "
to install the cab file just copy it to your device / SD card and then " open " it with any file explorer, and it will install just like any other program.
ill update this when I get ahold of the desktop software.

I have setup the BB Connect on my Treo 750v (on Cingular) and everything seemed to install correctly. I was able to provision to my corp. BES and receive the IT Policies. However, I only get a partial icon on the Today screen. Rather then seeing 4 Blackberry icon thingys, I get 2. Which tells me I am not completely connected. I see that I have the service books installed (ALP & CMIME). The "Email Setup" button is disabled under the Utility tab. I have done all the obvious. Selected "Register Now", etc.
I also have the BB Connect plan on Cingular. I previously had a Blackberry Pearl and a Nokia E62 w/ BB Connect. Nothing changed on my account.
Any ideas?
right now im getting the " you account is not provised correctly " or something to that effect. I think its telling me somthing on the BES server is not setup correctly. If anyone has any experience with that please, tell me how to setup my account. I am a IT admin, but this is my 1st time dealing with BB stuff.

Looking at the BB Connect manual, the status icon I am getting is that it's in the process of connecting. I never get to the full BB Connect icon on my Today screen.

I can. I have all the service books installed and the IT Policies downloaded to my device. I am able to see "Connection Available" within the BB Connect software on the Treo. I was able to provision my Treo to the BES and was able to sync using the handset syncing method in the BB Connect setup process.

Make sure you do not have any other Blackberry software installed (i.e. Blackberry Desktop Manager). I had an issue before with that.
I am getting the same provision error. I cannot connect to the BB desktop at all.

I think I know why I am not getting connected. When I spoke to the data support folks, they had me having the Nokia E62 w/ BB Connect on my account. There was no way for me to change the device using the Cingular BB portal. It did not recognize my device (probably because its Vodapone/unlocked). I wonder if they can override the PIN/IMEI number on there side.
How do you get the PIN #? I had one on my BB, but no longer have it.

The BB Connect Desktop software will provide one. If you connect the treo with the BB Connect desktop software, you will see the PIN.
I deleted the old desktop software, but still cannot get into the new wm desktop. I get the same provision error.

I got around that error by adding my exchange account into BES.

Messenger "There is a problem with the server"

Hi all,
I am having trouble signing into Windows Live Messenger on my XDA Serra (HTC Touch Pro).
It only happens with my main Windows Live account - when I sign in with my old account Messenger works fine.
The message I get is:
There is a problem with the server. Please try again later.
I have contacted Microsoft and they have "escalated" the problem within their tech support department but ultimately they have not been any use. In the last e-mail I got from them they suggested contacting my carrier. I had already contacted o2 and they said they cannot help in this issue. I am pretty convinced it is a problem relating to my Windows Live account. Hard Reset of the device has not helped.
Please if anyone can help or has had similar experiences post here!
Thanks,
Matt

I'd never seen this problem until a few days ago. My connection and internet access are still rock-solid, but suddenly I haven't been able to sign into messenger. I re-flashed the custom ROM I've been using, but that didn't fix it. I suspect either AT&T is trying to force me to use their proprietary IM client (presumably so they can charge me for text messaging) or it is indeed something wrong with my Live account.
Please help me too!
Help me too!! That makes three of us. Im using MSN over EDGE/GPRS and it won't sign in for me too. I keep getting requests of contacts that have added me..and when I click on allow, it says "There was a problem with the server". Sometimes, it just wont sign in at all, come what may.
Wow, I'm quite relieved that it's not just me!
Have you guys tried signing in over Wi-Fi? It doesnt matter what connection I use, I can never sign in.
Have you guys updated your MSN client PC side to the new 2009 version? Apparently (after I started having hassle with my Touch Diamond today) as soon as you sign in to MSN PC side on the new 2009 client with multi-sign in it renders your account buggered and in turn WinMo won't sign in no matter what you hard-reset or install.
Try an old account that has never signed in to 2009 version and your fine.

Yep this is the conclusion I have come to.
Sadly, Microsoft customer services really don't want to know. I have been in email discussion for over a month, and they are truly useless.
I guess we're at the development team's mercy, if they know or even care about this problem.
It can't be that difficult to sort out for them. Other third party apps (e.g. IM+) are logging in fine and you then get the usual "you have been signed out" message on the PC. So for now I'm going to use a chain of trial versions in the hope that MS sort this out in the next month seeing as 2009 went official this week.
And don't get me started on the new version of the PC client. What primary school children did they let loose on the design?!

Hope it helps,
Well, still no news from Microsoft regarding this issue. It has been 11 days since I last received an email stating that resolving the problem was their "top-most priority" although they could not provide a timeframe for resolution.
I've emailed them again to ask if there is any news but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed.
It's pretty disgraceful how the functionality of our devices can be reduced in this way through a problem with the server. I hope it's fixed soon.

Microsoft really needs to get more people working on Windows Mobile products. Out of nowhere, all of their mobile products (Live Mail, Live Messenger, Live Contacts, Sideshow) failed to work since the beginning of January and there is no support what so ever.
So it's been about 4 months now since I was last able to use Windows Live Messenger on my Windows Mobile device.
This is so far beyond a joke that it's become funny and then lost all funnyness again.
I am tired of using Palringo, though I do appreciate their free service.
Has anybody managed to get any information about a possible fix? I've read elsewhere that Microsoft have suggested to some people that they just create a new Windows Live ID. This is quite franky a ridiculous suggestion, as I am sure many people are quite attached to their e-mail address. Personally it would be a huge inconvenience for me to have to change my address.
The problem seems to be with the live mail address book. I managed to get it working by exporting my contacts, deleting them, and importing them again. Has been working fine now for several weeks. More info here:

I have deleted all my contacts but I am still getting "Problem with the server".
Is there anything else I can do?
I thought I should wrap this up... a few months ago it just magically started working again.
While I'm happy it is working, I'm still left concerned that the functionality of my device is purely at the mercy of Microsoft, and I am utterly helpless to do anything about it or even find out what's happening.
Uncheck the synch contacts option when installing is the solution..........in step 4 in ver 10.6.***

[Q] changing windows live ID

Hello there, I'm new here so I hope this is the right section..
I edited my Windows live id log in, I mean I changed ID and password. So now my Windows phone can't log in and I can't either download apps. Is there a way, different from Hard reset, to chance main Windows live ID account? Maybe from MFG?
no live id its the only one you cant change. you must reset your phone to factory defaults
Sent from my WP7 Trophy
ain't there a way, even hidden?
is there the risk that I've lost all the apps and games I've bought? windows live "unique ID" is the same as before I changed windows live ID...

I tried to circumvent he prob by trying to make a new windows live account using my previous windows live username login and link it, but the email that was associated with my first windows live id doesn't seem to have been recycled and still appears to be a "windows live id" despite the fact i can't access it, log in, reset password or anything...
this sucks big time!!

Latest version of Mango?

Hello
I am a registered developer for WP7 and I got an invite from Microsoft to get Mango for my phone, and I did.
My questions is this: on engadget.com, I saw a video of a phone running a newer version of Mango, with a few extra features (visual voicemail, bing something, etc)
How can I get that? Or is it only available to certain devs?
Searched around, have yet to see any answers.
Thanks.
a number of features are country dependent and some are dependent on your carrier.
If you can give us that information, perhaps someone can tell you more.
can somebody explain to me why I dont have bing audio in mango beta 2? is it region specific too? I am located in surabaya indonesia with telkomsel. developer unlocked...
or nobody has it on their beta 2?

The new Bing map features were demonstrated using an example from NYC, so if anything, this should be available in the US.

Visual Voicemail is available only on t-mobile in the US.. I have a focus on at&t.. so I don't get it either..
Bing Vision, Bing Music, Bing Maps w/ turn by turn directions and Local Scout all work on my device.
Facebook chat works as well, it just needs to be linked to windows live via live.com before it will work.
I saw at least one video with an unlocked focus running on t-mobile that was demonstrating the visual voicemail feature in mango.
Anybody able to make bing audio work outside us? Tried changing the region settings to us and did not work.
My settings are set to australia, but my actual location is in surabaya, indonesia.
if i disable location from search settings, its worse, local scout button is missing haha.
in germany its also working. turn by turn navigation and voicemail/sms ...

lack of visual voicemail is reportedly not an OS problem.. it's an at&t network problem.

the xbox live app is dependant on the region of your LIVE account. It could simply be, that XBOX Live is not supported in croatia. What you then need, is a new primary Live Account from a region that supports Xbox Live.
