Browsing top viewed/rated/discussed videos in the Youtube App is pretty much awful!
Most of the top videos always come from a channel named BleuXephos and concern a game (or not?) called minecraft.
This reflects nothing with the "real" youtube.
Is there any fix for that? It is VERY annoying.
PLEASE delete this second post, and move my thread to Android Apps and Games
I am really sorry for posting this in the wrong section

A new startup company has come up with a great way to search and play online videos.
Download PPC version onto my Tytn and it works a treat!!
Try it from... http://www.vtap.com/
Cool, thanks.
Okay. This is cool.
- Has one of them "as you type" searchbars for video and wikipedia. Type in "kitten" and it shows in nanoseconds all the relative stuff about kittens.
- Really fast, as from software point and in downloading videos.
- Seems to have gazillion video sites.
- Plays videos really smooth. Has different quality settings and an audio only mode. (Tested with Wizard)
- Background and playlist mode for video downloading. Good if you're using cellular networks.
It does have few bugs and it doesn't really have a way to list videos like "top 10 from youtube", instead it shows a list of some news, sports and political stuff on the search page by default.
They also seem to be planning a java version for the functionally challenged phones
I recorded a quick overview of the software

Btw, sorry for the quality. I didnt know that the youtube-online recorder does that.
aside from just playing "unrestricted" video, this is pretty brilliant
Brilliant piece of software.
Just one thing I noted immediately after its installation.
1) I tried to install this on the storage card. But it actually installed in the programs folder of the main memory.
2) After I installed this software I keep getting the sound I have associated with the event "Connection Established" ever few seconds though actual connection does not take place. As a fix I have disabled any sound for the event "Connection Established". Anyone else noticed this. My device is the HTC Touch.

I agree, would really like to filter the results by site (i.e YouTube only).
Since it downloads the videos in order to play them - I nice feature would be to beable to save the videos for later repeat views.
Pretty good app so far.
One way to filter clips in vTap
search youtube and select youtube group and then do search...pretty cool... they are doing search with in the group....

I had the same problem... Is there any workaround to get it installed to storage card instead?
Wow, very nice, love how it shows all videos, organizes some into videos, shows all video sites, etc and is VERY fast in both displaying videos and information as well as buffering and showing the actual video.
Storage Card problem.

I have contacted the support for vTap, and they have indicated that a fix should be available shortly.
Great news aalvino!, thanks
Works Great on my Touch!
Btw... there's a new version now that supports installation to storage card
great app to make youtube and other video sites work on a Prophet. But, I might just be dumb, I can´t find a seekbar or a similar tool that would allow me to jump to a specific part of the video I´m watching.
Is there something of the sort in vTap?
is there a way to fast forward or rewind the video in vtap? the arrows arent highlighted...
Very cool app but not at all new. I had a version of this installed almost a year ago..never did understand why people were having so much trouble with youtube videos when vtap played them just fine from the beginning. Good application
This is nothing new at all.
Vtap has been around for quite some time, i don't know why you have a new thread started for it and calling it a startup complany? I have had this installed since last year!
The post actually started last year...
I was just wondering if its possible at all to watch youtube videos on the fuze. I dont want the crappy website where it streams youtube videos in 3gp. I wanna access all of the videos, not just the ones youtube has bothered to convert. Thanks for the help in advance!
If you browes your windows directory you will find a You Tube application which is pretty well made, and has a High Quality option for very good looking clips.
I dont see any youtube application? I have the att fuze by the way, not the unbranded htc pro. Not sure if that makes a difference. Is there any place that I could download the app from?
On the Fuze, it's already present in the Programs tab.
I dont know if I am looking in the wrong place or if the app got deleted or something but I cant find it anywhere for the life of me. I dont see any youtube applications under the programs tab. Is it hidden somewhere?
It's a funny thing that AT&T did, so don't feel stupid.
You have to go - through the file explorer - into the Windows directory. You'll find that YouTube app in there. Cut it and paste it into Start Menu>Programs and you'll be on your way to YT enjoyment.
Btw, not to burst your bubble or anything, but it's in this raphael section....if you had searched youtube on fuze.....then you would've found it....

(skip to second paragraph if you're not interested in a mild rant)
In one of the recent updates for the YouTube app while streaming to the Chromecast it'll automatically add every video you've watched to the TV queue. That's fine as I don't mind having a list of the recent videos I've watched, but the part that bothers me (enough to create a thread, which I can't remember the last time I started one) is that the video is added to the top of the queue. This makes every video that you just F***ING watched play all over again! Again, I'd be fine with this if there was any type of preferences within the YouTube app to disable such an asinine "feature" that I'm pretty sure was solely created to boost the number of views of their videos (as I see no other purpose). It really feels like Google is going the way of taking away many options within their apps and it's bugging the s**t outta me to no end. The Chrome browser within Android use to have a plethora of options such as choosing user agents and things of that sort but that option is no longer available either. [/rant]
Is there any way to disable the autoplay "feature" of the TV queue while using the Chromecast, or the TV queue altogether if needed? My current version of the YouTube app is 5.7.41 and I'm not sure when this bug was introduced exactly.
Let me know if there's more information needed, I've been out of the modding scene for awhile (I'm actually pleased with stock Android on my Nexus devices).
Thank you for any assistance that can be provided, even if it's the version number that I can roll back to before the TV queue.
Just to say that i also think its fu..in anoying! I was searching for some kind of solution and found this thread. Only thing left is to hope that youtube will change that in the upcoming update...
Well, I appreciate seeing that I'm not the only one being bothered by this. I had forgot about this thread do to the (seemingly) lack of interest and I was reading comments on my tablet while a video played on my Chromecast, when the video ended it changed to the next video on my tablet and gave no ****s as to what I was doing. Android/Google used to be the king in my book as they gave options for everything, but they seem to be following in the same footsteps as Apple nowadays and it is sorely disappointing.
Ok, this has got to be affecting more people now. I thought my newest mishap was just a glitch, but even after reboots the bug (feature) exists now anytime I stream anything from my laptop as well! The goddamn problem is also WORSE than the tablet issue because at least the tablet takes you to the video it is streaming so you can stop it an remove it from the queue. Apparently that wasn't a big enough F*** UP(!) for Google so now if you play a youtube video from a laptop that is part of a playlist, then play a different video that's not within that isn't within a playlist, when the non-playlist video is over the previous playlist will start playing again. ARE YOU ****TING ME!?!?! Now I have a playlist playing on my Chromecast that the ONLY ****ing way I can get it to stop is to start playing another video and then stop it!. Please inform me that the lead developer/designer setting the path for Chromecast has autism or some other disorder they have a legitimate reason for being this ****ing stupid.
I totally agree with you guys, it doesn't make any sense why it behave that way!!
bumping this, as i'm bothered by this as well
wonder why it doesn't affect more people though... it's probably not a widely used feature
I am also very pissed off with this! Every now and then, in the middle of the video, it pops up.
It stays there for hours (at the minimum) and it lowers that brightness and has the annoying symbol for it covering the content of the video!!!
This is extremely disappointing!
Bothered by the same thing. The problem was fixed a while ago, but now it seems it's back. As soon as I want to play/cast a video, the TV queue is populated with all other videos in that playlist. I would like it to play THAT video, then stop. :/ I can removed one and one video, but that sucks when it's maybe 60 videoes in that list.
Here is My latest app:

I think this app would benefit more than most from having a video on its play store page. Or at least a better description. After reading it, I still don't really understand what it does. Where do the videos come from?
You are absolutely right.
I am working with a friend on a video.
The description is indeed somewhat lacking, but it is the best I could do. If You have any suggestion on how it could be improved I will be glad
The videos come from Youtube links.

Just literally go through what the user will be doing, thats what is missing. You already have the why. So something like "You can add videos to the player from x y z sources" and how you do that.
You are right. Good suggestion. I've updated the app's description by adding the following line:
EASILY ADD NEW CONTENT
Share to this app from the build in YouTube app to easily add new content.
It was also a bit unclear to me from the description if the app provides the content or it was someone else, like a parent, that needed to pre-approve and manually add videos to the playlist.
I'd also recommend improving the screenshots. Either remove admob for the screenshots or let it show real ads, but the "Test Banner" gives it an unfinished look.
Btw, there's a similar app which focuses on kids videos, you should check it our for inspiration: http://www.kideos.com/
Thank You very much for Your suggestions. I will definitely take them under consideration.
YouTube picture in picture
I recently bought a tablet for media consumption. I have been away from android for a while (my last device was a Droid 2). As I'm sure you all know, YouTube now has a featured that lets you reduce the video to the corner so you can browse YouTube while watching Youtube.
This seems like a pointless feature. If I could watch YouTube while browsing Chrome, now THAT would be something.
Am I just missing the point?!?
On a related note, is there a way to do just that: watch YouTube while using other apps?
Thanks for your help demystifying this.
