Whatever is out there is not official, What you really want is a custom ROM. I recommend infused or serendipity VII, check out the development forum for more info.

There is an official UCKH1 update for Froyo 2.2.1. You can go to samfirmware.com and get the odin flashable file there...

Hello all
I'm new at this forum and new at all the galaxy stuff
I have Samsung galaxy S II, 2.3.3
I want to put a good rom, I need to upgrade to 2.3.4?
or i can leave it 2.3.3 with a good rom?
Ty
Your very lucky to have one.
I've always believed before you flash a new ROM you should ask yourself "What is wrong with the ROM I have". If that answer to that is nothing, you should probably leave it alone (My 2 cents).

It's up to you. If you wish to get the most out of your phone (although it is already a beast of a device), then you could root it and try out new roms. Here's a suggestion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274 .
If you plan to install the custom ROM or root, I advice not to upgrade to 2.3.4, I was told Android 2.3.4 is hard to root.

That's a lie.
When I tried it, Gingerbreak does not work on 2.3.4 but that was when 2.3.4 was just released. Now, I have seen many successful rooting on 2.3.4, should have checked before I post.
okay so im buying a galaxy s

Is it a Galaxy S or a Galaxy S 4G? Either way, I believe you can download Kies Mini from Samsung and get the update that way.

I hope I didn't misunderstand what you were looking to do. The only OTA or Kies update you can get from Samsung is still Froyo. It's the KD1 update.
If you're looking to update it to Gingerbread, there is not an official Samsung release yet. You would have to install one of the many leaked versions or custom ROM found in the Dev section of this forum.
Good luck

To add on, you need to have the bootloaders from a leaked ROM to run GB properly. Afterwards, just root by flashing drhonk's GB kernel and flash your custom ROM through CWM.
Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could update the firmware on my Samsung Infuse from Froyo Android 2.2.1 to Gingerbread 2.3 with a rooted phone? Will anything be lost during this, and will I have to unroot and then re-root my phone in order to update?
These questions are answered in the AT&T official update info thread. Please read before posting.

I do not believe there is an upgrade path from froyo to gb that will keep root. There are some pre-rooted gb ROMs but nothing down the official road. The official gb update is the same as the UCKL2 leak from December. Do a search for user przekret and you'll see the thread. Its buried in the development forum somewhere. Any of the "official" GB updates are flashable only through Odin so I'm pretty sure you'd lose everything. At least that's what I've been reading. I lost everything when I flashed it. Personally, however, the "official" is very unpolished and I'm actually back on UCKH1 Froyo until a new "official" is out.

Today I updated my Galaxy S2 to the ICS update released in Canada. This update removed my Root access that I had earlier. My question is, How do I reroot this version of the phone? I'm confused on this kernel download part, what kernel am i suppose to and all that sorta thing

Baseband: I9100MUGLD3
Kernel Version: 3.0.15-I9100MUGLD3 - CL377577

Sorry, it's very difficult to understand what you're asking.
Are you looking for the official (stock) Rogers ICS rom that was released in June? You should be able to get this update through KIES, but if you're looking for the .tar file...
Some searching of this forum for the firmware revision name (I727RUXLF3) turned up this:
http://d-h.st/m9P
Samsung also has a firmware repository so you could download from them directly (Probably safer), you will need to make an account though:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=4967#
You will need to know how to use ODIN in order to flash this, do some research and reading about how to use ODIN, because you can mess up your phone if you click the wrong thing.
My understanding is that the official Rogers ROM will NOT work with an AT&T phone. You would need to use a custom ROM based on the latest AT&T leak (UCLF5), as they have not yet released an ICS rom to my understanding (Someone correct me if I am wrong...).
If that's not what you're asking then please try to clarify.
im pretty sure hes asking who has the rogers ics rom and if they do can they upload pictures (probly battery and stuff) and whether the rogers ics release can be used on the at&t skyrocket
Stock Rogers ICS rom available from sammobile.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
yes this my question
rogers ics release can be used on the at&t skyrocket
It is possible to use or that it is suitable only for 727R
I have the ATT
If the install of Rogers will not be a problem so ask
2. Is there 14 toggle for ics 4 from rogers?
Hi Eli,
I also have Rogers Stock ICS 4.0.4 from Sammobile and am looking for the 14 Toggle Mod in the notification bar.
So far, I cannot find anything and nobody has posted a reply. I tried to mod this ROM myself but I'm not experienced enough with ODEX ROMs.
Here is the thread I've posted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757197
I hope you get an answer to your questions.
ok but your phone this i727 att
my phone i727
the rom i727r worked with i727 att?
I have the Rogers i727r with stock ICS rooted.
If you have an ATT i727, I think the Rogers ICS will work but maybe not perfectly.
What is your reason to put the Rogers ICS on an i727 ATT phone? Wouldn't it be best to use the stock ATT ROM?
beacuse att not yet out ics
this very Annoying
and i want ics
ok thank you man
