When people ask me to text them a phone # the easiest way would be to go to the phone screen and copy and paste it to a text. For some reason I can't find an easy way to do this, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Open up a contact, menu button, send contact.
Sent from my brain
Not looking to send the whole contact, just the phone number. The number I was trying to forward was not a contact #.
you could go to contact - edit-copy, then paste that in the text mess. not sure if it's the fastest way though.
Open up the contact, Edit it (Menu > Edit) then you can Copy the number as normal. Worked for me earlier when copying e-mail addresses.
Oh, well just bash out the number on your dialer then long press on the number and select all, copy

Or, from the dialler go into call history, long press on the number, then select 'Copy Number' from the menu.

Ok, so I just realized that it's very troublesome to compose a new SMS, have to go to the inbox, press right soft key, press left joystick, press down joystick to select SMS and then start composing
So I got an idea to configure the Messaging button on Tornado Noble to point to the compose SMS straight away. I did some google, and found the attribute to the tmail.exe application.
So I tried to create a shortcut named Long_AP2.lnk, in it contain this line
19#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "" -body ""
I saved it and transferred it to my phone, but it don't seem to work, feeling that my attribute might be wrong, I saved it as Short_AP2 and put into my phone, it works and by pressing the SMS button, it opens SMS composer straight away.
So the question is, why can't I get it to work on Long_AP2? Or the file name is supposed to be something else?
I also want to ask, what i that number 19 at the beginning of the line, hardware keys?
I think that the LONG_AP1.lnk activates when you hold the button for a few seconds.
Lol, I know that for sure,
I want to make long hold to activate compose sms, but short press to inbox
Anyone can help me? This is for our own good
keybddr.dll didn't support Long_AP2.
These aren't attributes. Attributes are what tell us whether or not file is hidden, read only etc...
These are parameters or switches.
I don't understand why you need to use a parameter to make tmail.exe open with a blank text message. Unless mine is broken, that's what it does by default. (In fact, I think mine is screwed up... wtf?)
Have you considered using mortscript?
andot:
If keybddr.dll doesn't support long_ap how is the media player supposed to use this for FFW in music/video?
I think it's supposed to support it.
I mixed up, it should be arguments
At default, it opens the inbox, not the blank text message
Long_AP2
With "AE Button Plus" you can map simple, double, triple and long click to one key.
This is a very usefull utility !
you need to modify the registry keys to use AEB Plus with the multimedia keys.

Hmm, I don't like to install additional cab to do simple stuff, perhaps find out what registry changes it does, and incorporate into a cab which installs the button, ill chk it out later

I fixed it. Don't know how it broke, but it works as you describe.
Is there no way to make a text version of a mailto: shortcut?
Good that you fixed it, but hope we can have 2 purpose with a button
short hold for inbox, long hold for sms
as you know, with Wm6, composing sms is even more troublesome compared to wm5
How to forward SMS in new WM6.1 threaded SMS? Hope somebody will come out with an easy solution for that.
Thanks.
yeah im not a fan of the new threaded sms some one said that you can select it with the dpad and then bring up a menu... i could never do it. plus you cant search your sms any more?!?
Just go into the conversation that contains the SMS you want to Forward, select (highlite ) the SMS you want to forward, press "menu" then select "Forward...
works

I've tried that before. It won't work.
before opening the message in the inbox folder, press and hold the message until the menu pops up. "forward" is one of the options there.
or tap menu>reply>forward

Have you ever really tried your method? Mine (forward option) got greyed out.

What he said. You have to highlight a particular part of the actual thread BEFORE you can see the forward. (He doesn't mean highlight the message in your inbox.)

But tapping the name will bring out the contact's detail menu. You will need to close the contact details to see the highlighted blue message. Anyway to prevent it from opening the contact details?
Sorry, I found it. You actually need to drag and highlight the sender's name and message..
This used to anger me to no end, as I forward a lot for work. I would try the highlighting and everything but still get the greyed out forward option.
The simplest option is to just open the message and simply press the up key once and it highlights the last message received in blue. You can then forward it. No need to highlight any text or name.
SMS forwarding in HTC diamond
YES it works.... on my HTC diamond....
open the SMS press the "up" key once, go to the menu and
"forward option is "un-grayed"
I have been trying for a solution since long... but this one worked....
thanks XDA

Hi friends
i noticed, each time if i want to send a message, i've to go to message-> selecting the account->and then new.
And what abt recently used numbers.. Each time have to select from contacts
I love this phone.. but why this phone lacks these basic stuffs
You can also start typing the number or the name (i.e 5->6->4->6 for John) on the home screen and switch left or right to SMS (txt) and then press the click on it, it will open the messaging app and you can start texting that person! Just a little tip
Otherwise look for AEButton which can assign a function to every hardware key!
Also, when you are in the messaging app and the "to" field is highlighted, just start typing the name, just like I told you above and a popup will open with all the possible names!

I am running a Verizon Galaxy Nexus on Jelly Bean and my question is simple. Is it possible either through apps or rooting, to have a button on the "ongoing call" screen that appears if the number is caller id blocked or is not in any of my contacts; that creates a new contact? Example 1: Someone calls and their number is already in my contact list. The new contact button on the dialer is grayed out or just does not appear. Example 2: Someone calls and their number is not in my contact list. The new contact button on the dialer is not grayed out. When i press it, the new contact screen pops up with their number already filled in. After typing in all their relevant information while still on speakerphone, you can press save and be returned to the ongoing call screen. Example 3: Someone calls with a blocked caller id. The new contact button on the dialer is not grayed out. When i press it, the new contact screen pops up without their number already filled in. After typing in all their relevant information while still on speakerphone, you can press save and be returned to the ongoing call screen.
thanks

I quite like the stock dialler, but how do you phone someone quickly? Currently I:
1) press the dialler icon
2) press the * icon
3) press the avatar for the person I want to call
4) click on the desired phone number (home, mobile, work etc).
Can I somehow skip at least step 4 and have a default number for them so that just clicking their contact photo phones them (and long pressing pulls up the other info, perhaps)?
1) press the dialer icon
2) start typing the name of the person you want using the dialpad (similar to T9)
3) Press the name and number you want to dial, it will initiate the call

That's another way to do it, certainly, but it doesn't seem to do very much towards reducing the number of keys I press!

Stick the top contacts widget on the desktop and use that, two clicks, or click phone and make sure the top three people are one of the ones you want to dial, or scroll and the keyboard disappears to show call log. 2 Clicks.
Can't say there is going to be a much quicker way of doing it short of voice controls...
There should be speed dial settings but there aren't
You can put direct dials into a swipe launcher. You can call those wity one swipe. Smart task launcher for example has more than 700 spots, swipe pad is more user friendly.
I have used this widget on almost every android I have had in the last few years: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.yuyang226.contactswidget
I use Nova Launcher. Swipe up on the dialer icon means direct call to my wife ?
