[Q] [ Q ] HTC HD2 "LEO" Activating Live without Chevron? - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I'm new here.
I recently changed my HTC HD2's OS to Windows Phone 7, I tried using the Marketplace and received the "we need an activation code error".
I contacted Microsoft received my 25 digit key and proceeded to try this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10566003
Sadly my phone doesn't download the Chevron Certificate as it should. I do know that it was discontinued but I decided to give it a try still. After much fighting and even downloading an official certificate installer, I gave up.
Now I searched through the forums and I see that the version I installed ( 7592 or Mango ) doesn't need to be unlocked in order to use the Marketplace. From there I deduct I won't need an activation code then... Why is it still asking me for it?
My question is, can I enter the code I received from Microsoft without worrying it'll be rejected because the phone isn't unlocked? Do I still need to install the Chevron Certificate? If so, how?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I use a HTC HD2 as well but I have no idea regarding your actual WP7 problem.
Why did you change to WP7?
I changed from WM6.5 to Android and since then I am very satisfied using the HD2 with Android OS.
Did you already try to use Android on your HD2?
If not, try it out...... ;-)

[Q] sideload apps with official development kit (no chevron)

If I subscribe to the Microsoft dev program to officially make apps, can I upload custom xaps (like the ones posted in this forum) to the phone I register with Microsoft for development?
My company work with iPhone and Android dev, and we are thinking of expanding into wp7 dev, so my company would be footing the subscription cost.
As far as I understand it, the chevron7 unlock enables the same registry key that the Microsoft dev program does, am I right in thinking this?
Regards,
owen
Yes, a developer unlocked phone, regardless of whether its with Microsoft, or with Chevron, can sideload XAP files.

[Q] how to unlock Dell Venu Pro with nodo 7392 ?

I bought new Dell Venue pro 16gb ans its updated to nodo 7392 . i want unlock it is Chevron unlock will work on it
Please help ?
Please use the forum search. You coul have gotten your answer far faster that way.
Developer-unocking (which requires a marketplace developer account) is the only known way to enable application sideloading past NoDo (7390).
You can get a developer account from Microsoft at http://create.msdn.com ($100). If you're a student, you can get it through Dreamspark.com (a MS program for students) for free, I think.
Thanks for the Reply i have serch lot b4 posting this. i want to know is there any othere way without spending 100 $
i am using also Hd2 with Nodo and jailbreaked so i thought it possible someone can cook rom with Nodo and jailbreak it

[Q] internet sharing over wifi for older HTC Mango Devices [HD7,Mozart, etc.]

I've seen that wifi internet tethering/sharing is supported on mango devices and its actually available on the new HTC phones like TItan. Also, I've seen on the deployment section of this forum that people have figured out how to enable this on older wp7 phones from Samsung. How can this feature be enabled on older HTC phones running Mango, such as HD7 or mozart? I've been waiting for this feature forever.. If its available on Titan, which is from HTC, running the same Mango OS that I have on my HD7, why cant it be enabled on HD7?
i heard that we have to wait for hardware update.
HTC announced that it will release a firmware update in the future that enable tethering.
but when? mango's here, new mango phones are here... when will the firmware/hardware update be herE? and how would we know? would it pop like like the software update notification on the phone?
I just received a HTC Update a day after I updated to Mango 7720 from 7712 (Developer unlocked HD7) but there is no internet sharing option. I wonder what that htc update was for?
i tried the xap from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238519
i got internet sharing option under Settings on my phone. But upon turning it on, i get an error message saying there's something wrong with the settings.
I cant post on that thread coz i'm a newbie here. Can anyone help resolve this?
Instead of creating a new thread, you could have simply followed the already existing thread of enabled IS.
They are working on it, for every phone, so just sit tight and wait for them to do so. Subscribe to the thread if you have to, but its most definitely being worked on.
thanks for the update.. i am following those threads... just that i'm a new member, so i'm not allowed to reply to those threads... hence i'm posting here
Hello, I cannot find the topic you're talking about. I have HTC 7 Pro, 7.10.7720.68, open market. When will I receive update enabling internet sharing or is there any unofficial way to enable it? I am forced to use my old WM6.1 device to do internet sharing from 3G to bluetooth to PC, but I want to use my Windows Phone!
Thanks.
rumour HD7 could support share feature.
Internet Sharing is working on my Trophy...
Cheers!
Internet sharing for HTC Mozart already exist.

does anyone have the actual link directly to the mozart 51007 CAB?
Can this update be installed over-the-air, or I must connect the phone to a PC?

A noob in HTC Trophy

Hi guys, I a newbie in HTC trophy. I'll receive my trophy maybe next week but I real noob in Windows Phone 7. I just want to ask some things like:
1. Is it possible to unlock Windows Phone Mango on HTC trophy?
2. How do I install .xap files? because I found some interesting apps here at XDA
I hope you can answer my question guys
It's possible to dev-unlock any Windows phone. However, unless you have a student email account, odds are that you'll have to pay a little.
$99 to MS at http://create.msdn.com (also lets you submit apps to marketplace).
Free but otherwise almsot the same at http://dreamspark.com (requires student).
$9 and no app submission at http://labs.chevronwp7.com (when available).
Alternatively, you can check the forum for your phone here at XDA-Devs, and try to find a pre-NoDo ROM (build 7004 or 7008). Then you can use ChevronWP7 Unlocker (details are on the Development and Hacking forum). However, I'm not sure if a ROM that old for the Trophy is available. Certainly if it's a Verizon (CDMA) Trophy, the earliest you're likely to get is 7389, which won't work for the hack used by Chevron Unlocker (not to be confused with Chevron Labs above - same people, different technique).

[Q] how to jailbreak htc hd 7 mango?

ok, first off all I have to say that I have explore this forum searching for this answer, and yes there is some things that are very useful. but, since I'm new in these things (I have some knowledge, but I'm little afraid to do something in which I'm not to familiar), I would love to see best and the simplest way to do with tutorials or reference that is compact (or at least what to do first, second...). So how to jailbreak it to use windows device manager so I can install other apps besides market apps?
here is my sys info:
Model: HTC HD7 T9292
OS version: 7.10.8107
Hardware version: 0002
.NET CLR version: 3.7.11140.0
In the end I must say that I'm glad to be a part of XDA forum among the best devolopers in the world, and I hope so that I will be able to help someone in the future after I get more knowledge and expirience in this area.
There's no working "jailbreak" for an up-to-date HTC phone right now. All you need, though, is a developer unlock; "jailbreak" is usually used to describe something that bypasses or modifies the phone's security settings; developer unlock is a feature built into the phone by design.
Until recently, you could use ChevronWP7 Labs (http://labs.chevronwp7.com) for a cheap dev-unlock, but apparently Microsoft has limited the number of uses of that tool, nd they sold out a month ago. No word yet on if/when they'll get more. In the meantime, there are two official ways to get dev-unlocked:
1: Purchase an AppHub (marketplace developer) account from http://create.msdn.com. $99/year, 10 unsigned apps at once, lets you submit to the marketplace.
2: Get a free student AppHub account through http://dreamspark.com. Requires a student email address and only allows 3 unsigned apps at once, but no cost and also lets you submit to the marketplace (if you're into that; please remember that this is a developer forum, not a "make my phone cool" forum).
Alternatively, you could downgrade your phone to pre-NoDo (build 7004 or 7008), set your computer's and phone's clocks back a year, and use ChevronWP7 Unlocker (not the ChevronWP7 Labs, the original one). Then, look for instructions on staying "chevron unlocked" as you install the upgrades on your phone. It's a mess but it's possible.
To try and increase the number of apps you can install (to an effectively unlimited number), and allow installing apps that use the capability ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES (which can be used to get an app more permissions than its sandbox allows) on Mango, you can look up "interop unlock" as well. If you use the legacy ChevronWP7 Unlocker and then carry that forward, you'll almost certainly get interop-unlock included for free (one way to simplify this would be to install the Htc Interop Unlock XAP in NoDo, then upgrade to Mango and follow the unlock instructions after updating).
Maybe it's the best option for downgrade, and than again update on mango. I just want to know is it gonna effect my phone in any way (I mean on bad effect). I'm gonna search here for that options.
Thank you for your answer and for your time. I appreciate it!
@mailman78
Let me know how this all goes for you, as I have the exact same phone (in Australia). I'm wanting to try the downgrade/jailbreak/update route, but would love to know how someone else went about it. Cheers!
I've done it without problem!
1. downgrade bootloader from 5.xx to in my case 1.69 (or other 3.xx, 2.xx, 1.xx)
2. install RSPL and HSPL
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18244911)
3. install custom ROM
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1476058)
Step 2. is VERY IMPORTANT, otherwise you CAN DAMAGE your phone device.
You must consult guys from thread-s that I gave you for Australia, I haven't spot anything about Australia! Before you doing anything, first take a time to read very carefully posts, comments and other things, BECAUSE I live in Europe, and here it's working (it's says europe htc hd7 devices)! In this threads it's explained very smooth and great!
I hope so that you will find something for you.
Best rgds
