[Q] Is it possible to... - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to install Android on WP7?I am gonna buy a new phone within 10th of next month.I'm confused between Defy&Focus. But I love android because of the apps available.I only need the phone for mutimedia&gaming purposes.Focus is a great phone at that price point. But I think WP7 lacks Games&Apps. Will the mango update increase the number of apps available.Or should I go with Defy?

[Q] Phone with out Android..?

I am newbie here, and planning for new android phone.
One of my friend got X10 without Android from India for few bucks less, shopkeeper said he can come again anytime to load the OS (which will be chargeable-same amount he deducted while buying). He was using his phone very well without android, unfortunately lost his phone. I really don't know what OS it was there on phone (stock or other).
My question is
1. Is it possible to get a phone without android, and if yes then what will be the OS on that?
2. Is it possible to flash/load Android (suitable to that specific device) on such device by our self?
Thanks in advance.
I think your friend got one of the infamous counterfeit phones.
Perhaps it had the Chinese ripoff version of Android on it.

Is that possible to jailbreack my DellVenuePRo or install other rom in my Dell venue

Hello
Iwould like to know if its possible to jailbreak my Dell ? Or to install a new Rom (as developer)
System nummer: 7.0.7392.0
Firmware:2250,1800.7392.212
Is that possible to to somethink?
A downgrade?
I wish I had an answer, Bump!!!
Bump ?
Can somebody explain the method?
There is no chance to jailbrake this phone now, because after update Chevron doesn't save, there is now flash mode like HTC, so u won't be able upload any custom rom, there is no registry editor and other critical features... Dell needs strong community like HTC to done it... You'll be able only to upgrade your phone to mango RTM 7720 as other devices... Good Luck!
To me when I hear jailbreak I think of the iOS where you get all apps for free from the marketplace. I don't like doing that. If you're wanting your phone unlocked to do sideloading then all that info is right here in this forum. I've side-loaded plenty so it should be pretty easy to find. I just don't like the term jailbreaking even if that's not what you meant.
You can but you will need a student developers acc but that's it you can't do it any other way and max apps you can have are 3

At&t HTC hd7s wp7.8 wp8 updates?

Hello to all!
I own an HTC hd7s from at&t running wp7.5. The only tweak I've done to this phone is the sd card upgrade to 32gb. Everything else is factory stock.
My question is does anyone knows if at&t will be releasing the 7.8 update for this device? I would like to keep it legit....
But if no plans are out there for updates for this device I'll be more than willing to hack away this phone.
So in my willingness to hack the hd7s, are there any roms being cooked for this device to upgrade to 7.8 or wp8?

No one knows the plans of ATT man. I myself don't think there will be anything for us officially (HTC Titan here). But seeing that the 7.8 update was pulled from MS and Nokia's servers (due some issues with 7.8), you might be waiting for an additional amount of time. But like I said, I don't think the update will be officially released for the other phones on ATT. Like always, the other OEMS (Samsung/HTC) haven't pushed the US carriers into giving its users updates.
Some questions from greece!

You can purchase a 32gb micro Sd card for about $20.00 us dollars. The process is very simple. You can find videos on YouTube that show you how to do this. Make sure you back up your data
For the rest of your questions.... I don't know...

Why you people want to screw your mind with this topic?
Just install Deepshining V8.0 or Dynamics V2.0, they work on the HD7 and the HD7S with no problems...
and get done with this "update issue", when the chefs create a new ROM based on the new update, then it's moment to update the ROM...
Pretty easy...
Thanks faustolg, now question those roms will update to what version of WP?

8858 I believe
Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express
Both are the same ROM version
7.10.8858.136
there are minor ("proprietary") differences, is up to you what ROM you'll keep.
Both are compatible with WP Backup, Windows Phone Device Manager + TouchXperience, but Dynamics is the only one that is Cab Sender compatible...
A few dates ago I found a nice piece of software called "seveneighter" it automates the WP 7.8 update. And viola! 45 minutes later my HTC hd7s is now WP 7.8!

[Q] Want to buy new android device need advice

Hello.
I want to upgrade to a new android device.I still use my HTC M9 but its getting slow.
I want something in the price range and specs of the K20/K20Pro.
I'm looking for a device that has a rugged/waterproof case available as an accessory.

Android One

Hello everyone,
I was searching for Android One topics here and unfortunately found nothing ( probably because of the confusing name)
So can someone explain what's up with this Android One software overlay.
I read some info on wiki but still have some questions:
Is it like normal firmware that only comes with certain smartphones, or you can flash it yourself?
It's a near stock android but, which version is it based on,
does it come out every time new android version rolls out, or it just gets updated to the new one.
and lastly let's say I have android one phone, and after three years they stopped regular updates,
it's still android one compatible phone right, so I can update to the new version myself?
Thank you.

Hi, Android One are phones that run a lite weight version of Android for budget phones with small specs (under 2Go of RAM, entry level processor,...) called Android Go. It's supposed to give a fluid experience to phones with limited capacity. Each Android Go version (for each Android One device) is in consequences very specific to the device, in order to use efficiently all of what the different specs has to offer.
You can still build ROMs/TWRP for those devices, and use it as a normal device, but the experience will be much slower. So to answer your 3 questions:
1)It's firmware that only comes with certain phones, it's build to use perfectly the SoC and memory, so it's very specific (not generic like GSI)
2) Android One are phones, Android Go is the Android version. Your phone may or may not receive an update to the Next Android version, on that side it's the same as other phones. If it receives an update, you'll run (for example) Android 10 Go Version. So update exists for Android One phones, they won't stay for ever at the same Android version they had at the beginning.
3) when your phone won't be supported anymore, you won't be able to update your phone to another version of Android Go. You'll still be able to flash ROMs or stuff like that, but since Android Go builds are very specific to each devices, you can't flash them "cross devices".
PS: at the moment I've not heard of Android 10 Go Edition, it's still at Android 9 if I'm correct. But it will be updated, the goal of Android one is to support cheap and often not long lasting phone over time.
