[Kernel] Restore GB 2.3.3 G2X Stock Kernel flashable zip - T-Mobile LG G2x

This is a flashable zip that simply returns your kernel and wireless.ko to stock GB 2.3.3 as delivered by LG in the update. This is for people who have played around with custom kernels and wish to go back to stock for whatever reason. Caveat: I have not tried the zip myself but one user has reported he has used it with success. This is a simple flash that simply replaces the boot.img and wireless.ko with the files from stock, so you should have no problems with it.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you brick your phone, void your warranty, or any other pain or suffering you may experience as the result of flashing this kernel.
Note: Always wipe the Dalvik Cache when flashing a new kernel. If you don't unintended consequences (i.e., boot stuck on LG logo or boot loop) may result. The first boot after flashing will take around five minutes or so. Please be patient and don't report your phone is bricked while it is still booting and rebuilding the Dalvik Cache, which takes several minutes depending on how many apps are installed.
Please report back any success or failures here.
Enjoy!

I was wondering if there was away to revert back. Thanks alot. Hey i got a question I am still a noob and I just stsarted changing kernels but Have been flashing for a while. I asked whast needs to be done before I flash and was told to wipe cache but nothing else is needed. I am haveing a problem with the new EB 2.1 and trinity kernels. When I do a hard boot to fix data it reboots twice the second one being a normal boot so I still dont have data. Should I try to wipoe dalvik and cache would that fix it if no do you have any suggestions?

This is useful thanks, wish we had one for cm7.....

Yes. The Dalvik Cache is the crucial thing you need to clear when you flash any system file, kernel, etc. If you don't a bootloop or stuck boot is a likely result. If you flash a different rom then you should wipe the system also to be safe.

reason is because I've been clearing the Cache partition as well, I'm not sure if I was suppose to do that, lol.

No reason to clear normal cache. In fact, if you use Rom Manager, that will delete the recovery it flashed as that is where it keeps it.

Flashing latest build of CM7

Sorry, this might be kind of a noob question, but i see build 23 is out for CM7. If i flash the new build, do i need to totally set up my phone all over again?
My last experience with CM ROMS on my G1 was that if you are upgrading to a new CM version a wipe is recommended but not necessary. However, if you do not wipe and experience problems it will be the first troubleshooting step suggested to you
YMMV on the MT4G builds, but that's how it worked with the G1

Thanks. Ugh, i didn't even think about that when i flashed CM7. Seems like it is a real PITA to wipe every time and have to configure all the settings again.
I had good success on my move from stock -> Ice Glacier (un-crapwared stock) by making a full TitaniumBackup of -everything- and then restoring it app by app (along with settings). They are similarly built ROMs, and it worked well for me with minimal downtime. You may want to consider trying that if you are just changing between CM flavors, as I would presume they are mostly backward compatible with a few fixes/features here and there. At worst it may leave you with just system settings to redo.
When i flash a new CMNightly all i do is wipe the cache and the Dalv/Cache and i've yet to have any problems. If you are worried about wiping and restoring everything. you might want to look into Titanium Backup.
thanks. I flashed without wiping and it seems to be fine. I was worried more about my system settings than apps.

Wiping the Cache and wiping the Dalv Cache will not reset the phone. Only a full wipe will do that.
To my understanding, a "full wipe/factory reset" in Clockwork Recovery will only clear /cache, /data, and Davlik cache. /boot and /system will not be touched. Some users moving from Froyo to Gingerbread have had problems with /system, and a wipe of /system (from within Clockwork Recovery or from adb) has solved some problems for people, beyond what a full wipe can do. Discussions are in the CM7 thread in the Application Development subforum.
I know, most people refuse to search for anything.
i usually wipe the Cache and the Dalv Cache when updating nightlies, but several times i've wiped nothing and just flashed the new one on top and its always worked just fine for me
I always do a full wipe when installing roms. Setting it up each time makes me think its a whole new phone which is cool.
You do NOT need to wipe when upgrading to a new version of the same ROM. I've probably flashed 10 no-wipe updates of cm7 on my phone and it's still perfectly stable, no force closes or anything.
Boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing. Give it a few mins to "settle" on the first boot, reboot again and you're good to go.
Worst-case scenario you'll just wipe and reflash anyway, and nothing lost.

[Q] Loop problem

Hello all. I'm pretty new and I hope this is the right place to open this thread. I did many searches, tried a lot of ways but i can't fix my problem.
Well the problem is that Everytime that i flash a new rom (in the Restoreway (Found on youtube) And in the .zip way) after installing the rom, and rebooting from xRecovery it start an endless loop and i don't really know how to fix it.
I tried many methods. Like wiping cache, factory reset and aaaall the other wipes.
so, ill ask you guys, please help me cause i can't find a way to flash this thing. :\
thank you so much.
hey dude i suggest you flash back your phone to stock rom
That fixes all the problems in the system and after that you just root it again
and install everything you want but be carefull in what you uninstall!
Try this...
I would suggest GSB ROM 3.6. Been using this rom since since version 2.2 and had very little problems. It is important that you follow Sheds instructions to the letter. It is very fast and basically trouble free. You can get it here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944430
install ruu ?
do a factory rest ..else try stockroms
what i'll do is try to wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache before i flash a new ROM... if it still fails then i will do wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache and factory reset before i flash new ROM...
my last resort will be to flash stock ROM then flash custom ROM again...

LG p500 bricked due to multiple flash

First of all I'm new to this forum.I've not find any specific ans to my issue so I'm creating this thread.I've installed custom ROM Oxygen,Franco Kernel to my LGp500 through clockwork MOD recovery. It was working perfectly.
Now the prob is that with my over enthusiasm of flashing and testing new things.I've flashed the same ROM thrice and kernel twice(such an idiot I'm).Now My Phone has become unresponsive or bricked(in tech jargon). When I switch on the phone Its showing LG logo but after that it freezes out there,No key is working, nothing is booting,I've tried several time but it ends up same thing. So to end up the process I was removing battery everytime. Though with power+home+vol(-) clockworkmod working fine.
PLz plz help..I've no other phone to use..
Clear your cache, davlik (in advanced) and then try again.

Do you have a nandroid to restore from? If you don't, try wiping everything (data, cache, and dalvik) and just flash the ROM, and reboot.
It sounds like you've soft bricked your phone and i've done it many times myself. Simple fix, just clear all cache, format everything and do a fresh flash of rom.
I don't see that you have answered yet. Did you get it to boot after clearing data as well?

[Q] Stuck on bootscreen after flashing [JB]Unoffical MIUI 2.9.14 Skyrocket[PORT]

Hello Pros! First post, semi-noob here.
I tried flashing the newest [JB][CM10Based]Unoffical MIUI 2.9.14 Skyrocket 9/14/12[PORT] today. I followed all instructions; I wiped wiped wiped, factory and Dalvik, and flashed the kernel.
But I am always stuck on the MIUI bootscreen, and can never fully load up the ROM. I've tried wiping and re-flashing several times, to no avail. I have not had any problems flashing roms before this. Any help or ideas of what causes this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Yes, I formatted both system and data. And I'm using the recovery that was recommended in the rom thread, Sk8er's Cwm v13.
Thanks for your reply!

Try reflashing. But when u get into recovery go to extras/darkside tool. And click on the super wipe(idr what's its called but there's only two options.) When that's done factory reset format data/system 3x if u want.( Couldn't hurt) then flash ROM! All should be good... if not keep this thread open. Lol and well try something else. But hopefully that works. Good luck!

Really? Damn. Are u on the latest recovery? If not try flashing the newest. Then do the steps again in my last post. Can't believe your having all these troubles!
Oh also u could try fixing permissions. After doing all the wipes and after flashing. Go to dark side tools again and do the cashe wipe! Then go back to advanced and fix permissions again.
Can you boot into recovery or not? If you can, just flash the rom. If you can't, yank the battery, replace it. Then, hold down both volume buttons, the press the power button, release all the buttons, you should be able to get into recovery.

Wow, still stuck on the boot screen even after the darkside cache wipe. I flashed CWMR Touch v6.0.1.3 by sk8erwitskil which is the newest CWM recovery as far as I believe, and the recommended recovery for this ROM. I EVEN flashed TWRP 2.2 just for the heck of it and flashed MIUI with that and still the same result; stuck on bootscreen. So I'm pretty sure it's not the recovery.
I did a darkside superwipe, and a darkside cache wipe, along with factory reset & format data/system 3x. The rom installs in recovery just fine. It's just once i reboot, i get the MIUI splash loading screen indefinitely. I'm not sure what could be causing this since I do all the important wipes (plus the darkside wipes now) each time. I think I have BAD LUCK!
You'll have to use odin, and reroot your phone.
Have you checked the MD5 of the ROM? If it's a bad DL it could flash just enough of it to loop you.

I had the same problem, but while my phone was stuck on the MIUI boot screen i pulled the batter, got into recovery again and simply did a factory data reset just once and then it booted up, but my issue is that i get no data at all no mater what version of MIUI I try to flash.

Ya I agree try downloading it again. Check the md5 and flash that ROM again. If it doesn't work your gonna have to Odin!
There were a lot of complaints of boot loops when flashing, so I pulled the DL link. I actually stopped using miui and moved back to CM or AOKP, depending on which one is most stable at the moment. Every once in a while I give miui a try, but I never stick with it. If you want miui, I suggest you follow Lithium's thread. His version is the officially supported miui rom.
I can confirm heres what i did to fix i had the boot loop.. all i did was run DARKSIDE Superwipe x2 Times. Then i installed MIUI Rom. Then i Factory Reset. Try booting wait a little bit. If still not going threw remove battery and boot to recovery and factory reset one more time then reboot. So once again.
1. DARKSIDE SUPERWIPE x2++ 2. Install MIUI Rom. 3. Factory Reset. 4. Boot. 5. (If still looping) Remove battery Then recovery. and Factory Reset and boot again. Your welcome
Can we move this to q and a?

Totally wipe and restore Tab?

I am fairy new in this and would like to know if anyone can tell me how to do a full wipe and reset of this tab? I picked up a used one yesterday to experiment with. I already have 1 since long but never got to flashing it because of the brickbug thing. So it came with some custom 4.0.4 rom and I flashed JB stock onto immediately with odin but for some reason it seems sluggish and also rebooted itself once where all apps got deleted?!
I read that on stock ics doing any kind of wipe can brick the tab? Is still the same on jb? If not can anything please be kind enough to tell me how to go about completely cleaning everything out? It is to my limited understanding that just flashing a stock rom leaves all kinds of things lurking around underneath? Especially since considering it came with a custom rom on the previous owner my have flashed lots of things without properly cleaning up?
oh and I just got it rooted with cwm so that's done at least.
JB has been reported to be brick-bug safe.
Boot into recovery and factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache (in advanced) and reboot. First reboot may take a while, so be patient.
Setup and let the ROM "bed in" and build its caches.
Edit: if you still have troubles, do the above and also format system partition, reboot into download mode, flash firmware with Odin, and 're-flash the cwm recovery.

Thank you for taking the time to answer! This is exactly the kind of helpful info I was looking for.
Would I gain anything from flashing your kernel and is that something you would recommend that I do?

Of course, there's lots to gain or lots to miss out
There are many many features that improve it over stock kernel.
There are a couple small random bugs, but they are also reported to be present on stock kernel.
Please have a full read of my kernel Post #1 to #3 and decide for yourself if it's for you. I've also provided the stock kernel for flashing which I recommend to always keep on your device.
You can flash the kernels via custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) or ODIN.
As always, please read the disclaimer too.
Take your time, and make an informed decision on what best suits you
Edit: if you do decide to flash it, make sure it's the P6800 JB 4.1.2 kernel (NOT P6810 ICS 4.0.4). The are two different threads......
