[ROM] CM6 - What do you want??? :D - G1 Android Development

I know that there are many 2.2 ROMs here in the forums. But i want to make something CM based wether its like my FroSense or something else YOU want.
Tell me what you would want!!!
Its my LAST project for the G1 because i will get a Desire Z on christmas.
I will still support my ROMs but i have to make it like 'blind' D

Your last G1 rom? So does that mean you've given up on froyo sense...? And its only September man, Xmas is in December.got a lil bit a time to do some Dev'n xD

Just SPEED
What I want:
Android 2.*
Fast rom
If you have to make a decision: choose the fastest option.
A G1 is no beautiful device. But the keyboard is what I love. So: Theming is not important for me. Just make it as fast as possible. That's what's counting to keep the G1 alive.

Stable speed and battery life
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App

I want a fast, stable, cm6..Maybe use Zeam as launcher for more speed. I agree with GZFan, Themeing is not important. Just something light and quick

Fast and have transparent status bar

Like i said. I will still support my roms... im working on every rom right now xD
Okay good suggestions. Lets get some more. I think transparent status bar is a bit weird but i gonna try it xD

speed, speed and more speed xD
CM6 has lots of options and cool stuff but its slow and laggy on the G1

Definitely have apps2ext for more speed too , if possible id like to see the 3d gallery removed, i hate it, its sluggish to me.. I use quickpic fo gallery viewing. Im not sure if replacing gallery is possible though

It's easily possible to remove the gallery but i think the most of us wont like that^^

you know running apps on sd-ext is slower than from internal memory...... right?
apps2sdext is for getting more, slightly slower, space for apps

Lol, well i guess the gallery stays. If i remove gallery manually via adb and push a new gallery, will it work properly?

I was always under the impression that putting apps on sd-ext partition is faster. Something to do with sd-ext partition mounting before the ROM loads completely?
Im newbish so i could be wrong, thanks.

Just uninstall it via Titanium Backup..^^

I second the removing of the3d gallery

hmmmmmm cm6 based good
i want it to be stable and fast with a beautiful theme, and wifi proxy setting should work for gmail, you tube and other applications if that works that's gonna rock

. . . . . .............. . ..

CM5, really?
Maybe you should take a look at froyobylaszlo for froyo with gingerbread ui. I wont do a gb ui because i simply think its not beautiful.

i want a fast 2.2 or 2.3. transpaent sb would be amazing. i already applied zdunx25's sb patch for transparency with red x's lunar ui theme. it looks pretty nice but transparent sb doesn't work too well

Wow! You guys have a lot of dev support!

I'm borrowing my buddys inspire for two days to see how I like it. I own an Atrix. Right away I can see that the screen and build quality of this phone is much better than my Atrix. I also really like sense.
I asked my friend to put gingerbread and 3.0 sense on this phone so I can try it out. While the features are great the phone just doesnt feel as fast as my Atrix I need to find out exactly what Rom is on this phone so I can tell you guys, but my question is, is there anyway to put REAL sense 3.0 on this phone as well as gingerbread? Or are these things just themes?
I would try to find this info myself but you guys have like 30 roms listed in the dev forum. Also can you tell me if its possible to make the inspire very snappy while having sense 3.0 and gingerbread? So far I'm very much liking the phone and am considering making the switch.
If I'm understanding correctly, sense will backup all my settings and apps so that if I switch phones I won't have to do anything to get it back to the way I had it. Is this accurate?

Shoot another thing sorry. Everything on this phone appears zoomed in and the fonts are big. Does this have something to do with the resolution of the phone. I expected the opposite since the screen is a tad bigger.

Motoblur is the worst UI you can have. The sense 3.0 rom is a tad clunky but it looks nice I suppose. Try out cm7 or miui and you'll think this phones hardware runs circles around your atrix.

CM7 is basically vinilla android with some improvements so no sense, miui is the best rom ever period, rcmix kingdom is sense 3.0 but is still not a solid rom. i had an atrix, hjad hardware problems with it and got it traded, then i started looking at the inspire fourms and i became more and more unhappy with my atrix and switched it for an inspire and it was the best desision ever but if you want to back up all your apps and restore them it wont work when switching roms 100% of the time so i would recommend BUYING titanium backup because if yourestore apps with the free version it takes forever due to the fact that you have to hit yes for every app, wait for it to install, then hit done, for every app

I disagree. Miui is horrible. Blah.... It lasted 12 hours on my phone. And that only cause I went to sleep.
I am using Gingerbeast. Its awesome. Fast...I Have been OC'd on it @ 1450mhz for like 2 weeks straight. No Issues. No Sense tho. But sense, its garbage man. Sense is bloatware..... .. Install a launcher, install GO SMS and GO contacts.. Its all you needs. If you want sense for the social stuff, just down load the social apps. But with this phone why? I just use the browser and log into them normally...
Leedroid is the only other Rom I would recommend for Sense. I used it for weeks. Fast, OC-able and All the Sense you could want.
I also +1 Titanium Back up. Its awesome.

It's strange to see one person love miui and another hate it haha
I basically like sense for its ability to keep everything backed up for me. Not for the widgets.
I think I'm going to make the switch from the Atrix based on the build quality alone. Do like the option for sense though.
Is there any other ATT phone that can be reccomended over the inspire at the moment? Or is the inspire at the top of the food chain for build quality, power, and modability?

As I am not experienced much yet with an unlocked bootloader, ill take your word for it. I already purchaser TB for my Atrix do that's not an issue. I just never fully understood how to use it so I kinda just sits in my app drawer.
If you could please just briefly highlight the diffrences in cm7 and miui I would really appreciate it. Also do you think flashing to cm7 will remove this "zoomed in, big font issue" I was referring to earlier? Or is it maybe that MOTO blur is zoomed out? Everything looks smaller on the Atrix.
It's strange to see such dislike for Sense. I've seen on many occasions in other phones forums, people asking how to put sense on their non HTC devices. I was under the impression it was the best.

Out of all the UI's Sense is the best. I've used miui once but it looks too similar to the iphone so I don't really know what the appeal is there. However there is a large number of people who like the stock look with CM7 because of how you can customize literally everything, after a while that gets repetitive and boring. Personally I prefer Sense because of the hardware acceleration in the UI and the eye candy. Out of all the UI's it's the only one that doesn't look like it was designed by a 10 year old kid.
Go flash Leedroid with all the patches and you'll see what I mean.

internally MIUI and CM7 are very similar the biggest difference is the way they actually feel when using them, its mainly the ui, with CM7 you can customize EVERTHING but with MIUI most of its their you just have to see if you like it but if you do flash miui id recommend Rey's coustom rom MIUI in the desire hd fourms. but with titanium backup what it does is makes very precise backups of all your apps and saves it to your sd card and when you move roms you just download titanium backup and restore, most of this is done thorough batch which you go to backup/restore, hit menu, and select backup all user apps with data, but NEVER select system data when moving roms because it can cause some serious problems
My opinion:
Love sense. My favorite UI, and I like all roms on this forum. Tried every single one. My absolute favorite aosp rom is gingerbeast. Favorite sense rom is stock rooted and gtg's inspired ace. Then comes miui. As for the atrix, forget it. I had the atrix and it kept overheating, so I got the inspire and it was the best decision ever! Best part-no motoblur
As far as the people who don't like sense, go spend a year on touchwiz or motoblur

Well then you might as well flash an aosp rom. Sense wont keep all you stuff backed up throughout roms(I don't remember it restoring any of my stuff)
aosp roms will keep EVERY app backed up and will restore them when you reflash or update the rom. If you uninstall an app, it wont restore it.
Works perfect.

[REQ] ICS theme for r800i (2.3.3 & 2.3.4)

I know it's a bit much to ask and probably won't be around for a while, i'm positive there are people interested in it just as much as me as i'm currently "ICS pimping" my phone out but due to my locked boot loader and fastboot not working due to 02 sim lock (and not having the persuasion or the trust to do it via online no offence due to the costs..) i can't get cm7 running and using that ICS theme i was wondering if anyone could make this ?
With widget locker you can mimic the lockscreen now.
Oh i have the wallpapers, the widget locker and using the ICS clone, the default UI sounds , the ringtones and notifications ripped from the Galaxy Nexus, launcher pro icons theme, the google widget and the clock widget, oh and the market update the google music app update and the google+ update from 4.0
i'm getting there lmao
Couldn't you just switch to ADW or Go Launcher and use one of their ICS themes?

no, because i already have that done read my previous comment, i'm talking about a theme the way the Galaxy S II theme got ported to this rom, re-themeing the stock status bar, apps framework, system UI etc.

Why not try porting the theme yourself you can edit framework and systemui without needing to decompile so shouldnt be too hard
trust me it attempted it before and i ended up bricking my phone, don't ask probz didn't give it correct permissions , being a uni student leaves me little time to focus on things like that 9:00 A.M. and i'm up to my neck in coursework lol.

PyroIce Tips, Tricks, and Help Guide. -Please Post Your Own Too :D-

I've made PyroIce my new Daily, and we all know it has some bugs. So I thought I'd start a thread to help Unclutter the fourm.
Here's the first thing I've found out.
- Wi-Fi Networks that are WEP/PSK locked can be connected to without having to Manualy put the name in.
Nova Launcher is a Great ICS Replacement Launcher. It can be downloaded from the Market. Or found on XDA as a flashable Zip. That makes it a system app, and allows widgets to be accessed from the launcher.
It has homescreen effects, drawer effects. Custom Grid Sizes, and all widgets are resizeable. Its the ADW of ICS, and is better than CM9's Launcher for 4.0.1.

Good, the only reason I won't root my girls phone is cause I don't wanna fix it.
Does anyone know if you can unlink the notification volume and ringer volume in ICS?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
first off, i think this rom is simply great, considering that ics is on very few devices right now, and that our phone is a bit slow in general with development (nothing against all the devs on this phone, cuz what they have made are all really good)
two questions:
does anyone know why the camcorder app is limited to 720p recording? it's definitely not a big issue, but this camera is considered to be one of the best, seems like a shame to waste it.
also, any way to fix the htc dialer showing up in the call and to answer a call you have to unlock first?
how's everyone's battery life doing? mine's much better than when i had cm7 on it
I was looking at 1080p but for some strange reason libstagefright camerasource detects that 1080p is not available. Coudlnt binary hack that, and no idea why that happens.
You can use fullscreen caller id to let you receive calls without unlocking, or can use widgetlocker from market with security set off.

Stock KJ2 does that, so I don't think it's really a rom issue per se. Seems like it doesn't keep the launcher layout in memory during high usage or something.

Yea one of our phones main problems is a severe lack of RAM, so the launcher usually has a hard time staying open when something else is bugging out the memory.
Sent from the phone everyone has forgotten about!
You can try using something like launcher pro and setting it to keep in memory, not necessairly guaranteeing that won't have other problems though...

Use the v6 supercharged script, this will lock your home screen in memory and take care of that issue entirely
How do I run that script?

Try going to this website: www.google.com, it's something called a "search engine" then type "v6 supercharger XDA" in the box and see what happens!!! It's a really useful website for finding things!!!
I use aggressive 1 settings, haven't felt a need to use the others
Haha alright

I've been using this rom now for a few days and its by far the best rom (as of right now) out there and I haven't been using any kind of task manager either and it is still smoother and speedier then any rom out
P.s. no disrespect to all of the great devs out there workin on are phone!

Please know that ROM is essentially my gingerclone ROM with all the same asop apps and framework as well (with changes of course). I'm sure its updated to KJ2 with lockscreen mod by now but the poster of the ROM didn't even bother to change the OP format from my GC post. I'm not saying don't use his ROM.. if you like it do so, I'm jus speaking up because he didn't properly credit me or Sduvick. He's on XDA and used to post on the forums so idk why didn't he say something about it.

Teddy I thought so, I've used all of your roms. I can't wait for your next release. It also uses your kernal. I'm just a flashaholic, love changin it up every time I can

So is teddy really doing a new ROM? This would be fantastic news. Maybe have roboto as font and use ics icons?
And is it not possible with any of these roms to do the whole notification drop-down clearing of messages? Is that something that id definitely need ics for?

(Beta)[ROM]Senseless-Fury <No Pants> Updated April 9 Beta 1.1

I'm working a custom rom that has as much of Sense pulled out as possible without interfering with functionality. It is based on SOS S by Swagstr and it is super smooth. The main focus will be battery life. It's also as smooth as a baby's arse. Its like the remove sense option from the EViO series. Its a stable beta. I'm only calling it a beta because I haven't themed it yet. Anyway just try it out and tell me what you think!
-Stock Deodexed Sense 1.0
-MAXED OUT build.prop
-Native screenshot, Quick settings, Tweaked browser, CRT animation, 4 in 1 reboot, swiping notifications, Volume music mod,
-ICS Gtalk from Swagstr
-Most of sense Ui pulled out
-Sony Xperia S experience
-A bunch of init.d tweaks
-GPS tweak - should be faster?
-Nexus S boot animation
-HTC everything removed
-No live wallpapers, they're cool and all but they destroy battery life
-Lots of Ram
-Cleaned up like 10 mb in libraries
-Hacked hotspot
-Its pretty damn fast.
-Download is 134 mb so its slim
Instructions to install:
Wipe everything: data, cache, system, dalvik, and boot, three times each
Flash rom
Flash any kernels/ tweaks
Reboot
Let rom sit for a while
Then using titanuim backup install the htc setup wizard and google setup wizard and anything else you don't like
Reboot and wipe cache and dalvik
let it sit and your're good

downloaded both copies and tried to flash both. i get to the startup animation and it keeps looping there. are there any special requirements for this rom? i am using cmw and have an ext3 partition.
It doesn't boot? I probably uploaded the wrong zip. I'll update the link right now. Sorry guys. Its pretty stable otherwise.

confirmed working! great rom so far. the xperia launcher is a nice touch, just wish it had more of the widgets.
gonna flash the sense sbc kernel and see how the battery last.
Running great so far, everything is very smooth especially the xperia launcher, plenty of space for apps on first install.

I have a couple widgets that I'll upload. I don't really use them though. Also I'm running the stock SBC kernel too.
Check the first post again for more widgets.

thanks for the apk's. going to play with them now.
I'm free to take any requests. I'm planning on making the lockscreen and notifications transparent. After Tuesday I won't be able to work on it till Sunday. I'm going to DC. Anybody has any tips on what to visit?

Love to see the ability to remove the battery icon. Personally I like the miui like top battery bar.

Looks cool, will be trying this tomorrow.
Um I was planning to let the Rom resemble stock gingerbread more. For some weird reason the dialer from cm7.2 started working and its perfect. I'm taking out the HTC gallery app and removing the libraries and including the stock one instead. Also the HTC contacts, clock, calculator are also going. I plan to include the aosp versions instead. Any objections?

It's your ROM to do with as you please, but I prefer the Sense dialer and contacts. Both do the job though, I just like the look of the HTC stuff. That's my humble opinion.

Yea I agree, HTC makes some nice looking stuff, albeit bloated. But whatever saves space feel free to do! Also, the SOS tweaks and mods would work on this too right? Just wondering if anyone else tried before I have a go, but I guess I could always nandroid.
SOS Tweaks should work on it. And I'm keeping the Sense Dialer and Contacts. I really wanna focus on stability and smoothness. I don't like the Sense gallery and I'll put in the MIUI one or Stock one. The stock syncs photos and is pretty stable and fast. I will include the aosp clock for people who don't need the sense one. There's gonna be an update tonight including the new stuff and some tweaks. When I get out of beta we'll have transparency.
