[Q] Couple questions about infuse 4g on infused 2.2.3 - Samsung Infuse 4G

anybody able to answer these questions quick?
I got infused 2.2.3 and i wanna know some more stuff i can put on, and what it would all do... i see people with different modems, mods, kernels and i dont know what it all means... all i got is infused 2.2.3... im pretty familiar with cwm now but most of the other stuff i dont understand yet.
I also want a good nice looking theme but i dont know where to find the ones that have been made?

I'm also curious. I juuuuust updated. My big gripe is the lock screen (aosp) - it just looks big and clunky. I'd love some extra info if anyone's willing to share

Rom suggestion for the old lady

Looking for a stripped down rom for the wife. Something fast and stable with no fluff. I'm running cm on it now and its decent but still kinda sluggish.
She really only cares about web, camera and the phone. She doesn't load apps or anything else. I don't mind running a 2.1 rom either if its fast.
People with cm, would you say its a fast as you can get and I'm trying for too much out of that little guy? Thanks for any input.

first i would post this in the Q&A section as this is a question.
CM6 is sluggish?? really wat r u doing to make it sluggish? its prolly the fastest most stable rom ive used so far besides fresh 2.4.

For fast 2.1 I'd go with zen or NFX roms
pancake 1.5 the fastest ive ever tried
I just ripped one from an RUU for her... we'll see how it runs. Otherwise I'll look into some of the others mentioned here. Thanks for the input.
In case anyone wanted it, I dont know what all is floating around the hero community.
Its based off RUU 2.20.651.1 It includes the radio. It WILL wipe your Hero by default. I removed all the sprint software (cept VVM) and some of the other stuff like footprints, twitter... uhh anything but facebook. I added root explorer and wifi tether. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! See ya's

PS. it did seem to take awhile to first boot into it, Im used to the EVO so dont know how quickly the Heros come up as a norm.

Quetion about switching from a Virant 3g to 4g

So I just got me a Samsung 4g (I know, I know, what took me so long) well anyways I had a Vibrant 3g since day one and I love it. Now my brother gave me his 4g and I am wondering do I really want it. (besides having ffc, 4g and other stock specs) I hesitate because I have rooted and flashed so many roms finding what is best for me and now I have to start all over. So I have some questions for all you 4g owners. I love tethering so does the Vibrant 4g force me to activate through Tmobile or does a custom rom already have it avoiding tmobile to activate it. That leads to my next questions, what in your opinion do you think is the best rom (looks doesnt really matter I prefer launcer pro anyways) I was running Masters rom, Axura and though that was great for the 3g.
first off, let me say that the two phones are VERY different. dont come into this forum thinking they are the same. i am telling you this now because if i read a post saying "i used rom manager" or "i flashed a vibrant rom" "...and now I am bricked...you HAVE to help ME"...then i will ignore it.
other than that...Welcome!!! had to get the above out of the way. anyway. you should be able to create a hotspot for free. i dont really tether, so idk.
as for the roms, check out the Bible thread (search:"Bible") and it will list everything. you will probably want to go to Gingerbread, so check out the ICBINB GB roms because they have every SGS4G tweak in them.
if you want froyo, icbinb froyo with the sweet acid theme is really nice. i am currently on bionix frost and i love it completely. i can walk you through flashing any froyo rom out there. for gb, a ton of people have made detailed walkthroughs and phreshjoker is recording videos.
let me know what you decide to do after you read and i will gladly help in any way.
Thanks for your imput and the heads up, I though flashing was going to be exactly the same to be honest I will definatly go over the flashing threads and the bible of course. I will try bionix frost, but I like to have the most up to date rom so I have a feeling I will end up sticking to gingerbread ICBINB GB roms

Welcome to the dark side!!! We have cookies!
While it's definitely tempting to jump right into ICBINB GB ROMs, I would suggest to wait. Since the flashing process is different compared to the Vibrant, you should get comfortable with using the SGS4G CWM first. That would mean going for the Froyo ROMs first. As soon as you're comfortable, you should make the jump to GB. Just a suggestion though.
As for my favorite ROMs here, I would say Bionix Frost, ICBINB Froyo and GB, and Audiophile Series (Froyo and GB). Bionix Frost was my first ROM and is still the easiest ROM to flash on this forum. Just check your mounts through CWM and flash. ICBINB is the fastest ROM I've run on Froyo, so that would be on the top of my list. Audiophile is fast and great for...audiophiles, so if music is your thing, this ROM will definitely be for you.
Of course, there are plenty of great ROMs on this forum. I haven't tried all of them (I haven't actually tried Audiophile either), but these seem to be the most popular.
Lastly, remember to read all directions carefully! Good luck!
You can still get your flash on... Just read up..
Odin is still your friend...

It's an awsome phone. It has its bugs but thanks to the awesome devs here, everything is dope sauce. I'm running rooted stock with Faux123 GB kernel.
Welcome!
Hope you have fun!
Yup! Dido everything before my post. Phone is bad ass when rooted. Running CM7 latest nightly with faux's 3.8 kernal. Smooooooth as butter!
Enjoy and ignore the posts about it being the worse phone ever created.
I love mine...most do.
Welcome and grats on picking up the best phone out there! Enjoy it and like the Guy above me said, ignore the haters.
"a phone to make you numb, a phone to make you dumb, a phone to make you anybody else...
All the roms in this world... wont save you from yourself"
Welcome!
Welcome man, and enjoy your new G2x

I will be joining the GTX ranks this weekend as I switch from Sprint to T-Mobile. I'm glad to see that many people like this phone. Haters are gonna hate, no matter what phone they have. Some people aren't happy with anything and that's just the way it is. I'm looking forward to developing a new ROM and some themes for this phone. I've done a few here and there for the HTC Hero and the Optimus S. So, this will be a nice change. Just out of curriosity, are there any vanilla 2.3.5 ROMs for this phone? I did a quick browse of the Dev section, but it looks like everything is CM and I did see one 2.3.3 ROM. Nothing against CM, but I like the idea of a vanilla build. I guess I will have to start developing the minute I get home from the T-Mobile store, lol.
I believe Faux's 2.3.5 build complete AOSP with tiny CM mods in it but completely his own work from scratch, not 100% positive but pretty sure. Happy to hear about a new dev jumping in the mix.

Thanks for suggesting faux123's rom and thanks for the welcome. It looks to be a good one. Looking forward to making a rom for this phone and also some themes.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
just wanted to say that last night when i got home i rooted it and installed CM7 1.16 nightly build real quick to test it out. and wow i cant believe what i was missing man. where can i start battery life is at half after work while texting, surfing the web, and gps wifi all on even bluetooth. the lcd bleed is such a controversy seriously. while typing on the phone it just feels right. the hardware buttons feel tough not like they are gonna cave in. even though the back cover is plastic they did a good job making it feel right. now to experiment with some roms
I just got g2x my cousin didn't want it however I have att what is the easiest way to unlock it its rooted running the latest miui but it sucks because I can't fully use it any help would be great and thanks in advance

You buy an unlock code off eBay for $3.00. Then insert an AT&T sim in it and turn it on. If the sim unlock entry screen shows you are good to go. You just enter the unlock code you bought off eBay and unlock the phone. If the screen doesn't come up then you need to flash the phone back to stock, unlock it and then flash another rom of your choice. Some custom roms don't have the code to bring up the unlock screen when needed. I unlocked mine on stock rom. Was fast and easy. Code was $2.99 from eBay.
BTW, on AT&T you will only get Edge speeds, no 3G. :-(

Best ROM

Hello everyone, Im a noob here and with this new hobby. Im not a noob to the whole aspect tho, I did alot with DTV and DN then FTA so I have some knowoledge. I just rooted and installed S7 rom, then like a noob locked it out but figured out how to fix. So my question being a noob is what does everyone consider the best ROM for the infuse and why? And youre opionion on best apps to install once freed up? Glad to meet everyone here and thanks for all the reading I have done over last 3 days, it saved me and my phone LOL.
The new bionix is a infuse based rom but the ports coming in are awesome as well try the new darky rom!!

+1 cheezy...I'm enjoying darky myself...everybody has their own preferences

thanks everyone, I probally will try them all after everyones feedback, like i said im new and running S7 and hate resetting my gmail and reloading all my apps after re-installation. This way i can read and investigate all roms peeps suggest before I make the leap. S7 is ok i guess but was expecting so much more, right now got my eye on Bionix, but all your inputs helps a noob like me out greatly. Thanks
im running the new bionix i like it so far
Cool can you tell us why what you think the advanages are?
I'm running Infused v2.2.3, it's a great rom that gives good battery life. Unforunately, the developer has stopped work on it (he's supposed to be coming back once AT&T GB releases). But it's a solid rom.
CM7 or Darky. Darky is likely the best i9000/Captivate/Vibrant ROM, if you really want an Infuse based ROM, the only one I've used is Infused and it's pretty good.
AT&T's lastest leak: KK2 with Entropy's kernel for root.
I've removed most of the bloatware and did my own theme with pieces from this theme and that theme.
I get 14-18 hours on a charge. WiFi, Bluetooth & Data all work and are fast.
Only problem is video being broke.
I'm enjoying the Infused 2.2.3 also. Very stable, and greta battery life.
MIUI is awesome some bugs semi broken bluetooth havent tried the darky or some of the other newer roms tried dlev was alright infused was ok. Would wait for ICS before flashing something new.
Miui is my favorite. Works better than anything I've tried.

I've tried a lot of the roms out right now, I kept going back to Infused from gtg465x because of it's stability (I like to know for sure that I'm getting my calls and messages) but currently I'm very pleased with the mosaic ROM. It's really a great balance of stability and style, with just enough customizable options to make it feel unique. Also my wife has an infuse and she is a big fan of the Doctorz ROM (they just released version 9 that apparently fixed some of the glitches that v8 had) but I am steadily turning her into a regular flasher...of roms. lol. Anyway shealso tried the black one and it was very flashy but had lots of Italian glitches, currently she's tuning the GingerReal2 and she loves it.
Bottom line is...a matter of preference. I like stability with a dash of flashy, some people prefer flashy and don't care if some stuff doesn't work...others don't care if there phone is as boring as a rotary from the 80's as long as they can count on it working properly.
Hope this helps and have fun flashing!

VictoryRom v1.7 working best for me. No issues of any kind. KK2 does NOT have broken video like previously mentioned. My videos and youtube work great. I flashed it over a fresh install of gtg's unbrick.
i am also trying to find the best rom, but they all seem to have small problems that aren't necessarily dealbreakers, but slightly annoying to deal with every single day. I have been running cm7 for a while, and it's awesome, but I want my bluetooth audio back. i might be wrong on this one, but I think all the captivate/i9000 ports are going to have that "first call" bug. I was looking through all the leaks, and they seem to have widespread weirdness, which is what i would expect from a leak. I guess what I'm looking for is the latest version of android I can get without these bugs. should i go back to stock?
infused 2.2.3 with E's daily driver.
A lot of roms are not based on the infuse, those will break your bluetooth; thats a deal breaker for me. I would like to try some of the others and I have heard some really great things about them, but need the bluetooth for my car.

KK2 builds should get your bt audio working. Anyone with bt audio in their car should avoid MIUI and CM7...they will never get the bt working on the Infuse.
Bluetooth works fine for me.

[Q] Sidekick 4G humble questions

Hello all, I've decided to mod my newly aquired sidekick 4g. I'm not sure if this forum is all that active any more, but I figured I'd ask my few questions in the hope that someone can answer them. BTW I'm very impressed there is so much data out there for a relatively unknown smartphone.
1. I'm a huge fan of slim operating systems with no bloat. On my laptop I run Arch linux with very lightweight applications so my system is snappy. I know asking for the best ROM is poor form so what I'm asking for is an opinion on what the best ROM is for speed alone, stability would be nice, don't care for flashy GUI if it's slowing anything down.1a. From my reading on the forum it looked like gingerclone v2 was what I was interested in, however it hasn't been developed recently. Is this a good choice or am I better off with a newer ROM?
2. Should I be able to use V6 supercharger and the Blaze modem with any ROM?
3. I plan to be using the phone for tethering and was wondering if all (or most) of the ROMs support this behavior? I figured all, however the features listed in the ROM here made me second guess.3a. Anything other features missing from rooting the phone? Again I'm inclined to think no but correct me if I'm wrong.
4. Any other tips you have for a new sidekick owner? Or some flames perhaps?
Thanks, even if nobody answers this I have a whole forum of information to mull over. I apologize if this is improper or that I haven't searched thoroughly enough for the answers.
This is for sure the proper place to ask such questions, unfortunately there are only a few left to answer. This phone has lost all devs, but windxixi has just got a 2.3 ROM almost 100% functional!
For now best stay with froyo, and yes best ROM questions are not to be asked in xda, feel free to try any of them as they all share the same base, just remove what you don't like (an arch fan understands light so I do the same)
Yeah you can supercharge any ROM here to the best of my knowledge, shouldn't have any issues adding the blaze modem either if the ROM doesn't contain it.
Not sure on tethering, don't use it
Only benefits to rooting this phone, stock was horse****
Tips will be to actively engage the community, although there are few left here the ones that are are great! Add where you can, ask questions when you must, and help keep this dying phone alive!
Such a nice setup for a phone, so much potential, and you are here at a good time as I'm thinking there will be an influx of great things happening soon!
Happy flashing!

2) supercharger is really bad on the phone I believe a dev here created a better solution which should be implamited in nexus jb an glorious overdose v5
3)this phone isn't good with wifi but from the signal it self should be fine
4)I believe the new 2.3.3 should be up an running maybe in a week or 2

I was running NexusCM towards the end of my sidekick use and I really liked that one. I would try either NexusCM or NexusJB
I'm still using Glorious Overdose 3.2 or 3.3 Bulky. It does what I need for now. It's not my daily driver of a phone, but has a bunch of stuff on it that I don't have the time to deal with keeping safe through a wipe and all. I did pay for a app called RAM Manager (it has a free version through) that I think helps keep the phone running extra nicely. This phone has been extremely durable for me. I've dropped it numerous times on concrete. I pop the battery and back cover back on and it comes right back up...just a few scratches. The keyboard is simply the best. I'll definitely be jumping on the GB 2.3.3 ROM when it's ready for daily driving. My thanks to those who have been working so hard on that!!!
