how to change the settings background from black to any other

Ya...i also would like to know that how to change boring black background to some colourful or any other background...!

SORRY guyz i also dont know that may be we should have to edit any .xml file

here is how to do
he_stheone64 PM ME
But i don't understand does anyone understand this
"These are the new styles in framework-res (values and values-hdpi folder). I used Theme.Wallpaper as parent, so you can use anything from walls to transparent pngs. Then you certainly need to add the hestheone.png to framework-res.apk. I also added more styles in order to be more flexible, when you want to adjust for example a .noTitlebar style.
Then you only need to refer to Theme.Custom in settings AndroidManifest.xml (don`t forget @android) and you`re all set. That way you don`t need resources and just add manifest to your stock settings.apk plus use the new framework-res

Sir, Krazzy why are some Roms are already deodexed like the POSEIDON ROM?
If its not too much to asked can you create this rom already deodexed? It would be very awesome, Sir. Thank you
PS. I love your ROM choice.

Jazone pls look at the title.. This is only theme for xxkph and not a rom.. And as i know when an custom rom released, it is deodexed..

Thanks for sharing.
Noob question: How to install this? Is this compatible with Overcome 1.63 (Android 2.2.1)?
thanks
Nandroid first. This way you can try on rom of choose to test.
Instructions for Settings with transparent background:
1. download settings.rar and extract the apk inside to your sd card
2. copy or move the apk using root explorer
3. navigate to system/app
4. tap on r/w at the top
5. [optional] backup your Settings.apk/ somewhere just in case it doesn't work for your rom.
6. paste all apks
Thanks for this, ran out of thing to do with my fascinate and took my tab on. Been working with a couple dev with their roms and mods, to create themes for the vzw tab, would like permission to add this to the themes (of course for the transparent) but the icons would be changed to match theme. With proper credits goes without saying.
looks like tab is finally getting a fine choice of themes/mods nice work
anyway to get this to 70% for light wallpapers

Thank you.
In your instruction it's written that "replace all apks", but I found just one apk.
Is the way in first post same as the second way?
------------------------------------------
I found the original file, thanks anyway.
Hey, really cool
Is there a APK-File of the transparent Market?
BoyPpc used it in his actual Rom V4.....

I changed settings.apk but it remain looks like the original one
I have original jk5 firmware rooted and cwm installed w/ rom manager

In my tab i back to stock settings cause this one crash when i tried to send 1 file w/ Bluetooth.
I suggest to backup Settings.apk AND SETTINS.ODEX cause if u want retunt to stock u need to replace this 2 files....if u don't replace settings.odex u will stay w/o settings and Widgets.
So....backup them in SD!

It's happening on the essential settings.
Take for example the volume settings, phone settings, and applications.

[Theme] "Envy" for WB v6 (w/% battery & animated notification background)
I revamped my Suave Green theme from 2.1 and added some new stuff for 2.3!
Since there is a line of themes & icons named "Suave" already I changed the name to "Envy" to avoid confusion but now I see some themes in the "similar threads" with Envy in the title...
I'm gonna roll with it since it's already named & uploaded, hopefully no one minds.
So without further ado I present:

for Wolfbreak's TW Gingerbread V6 . . U jelly?
(Fully= "Connected to Google")
I made or edited most of the visible icons, buttons, toggles, etc. including the battery and this time around I added an animated SE logo to the notification background (shade).
The first time you pull down the notification bar after a reboot it will not be animated, but the next time you pull it down the little ball inside will bounce back & forth
I will also attach a zip to remove the animation in case it's not your style.
With Animation>
. . No Animation>
Thanks to 10tonhammr for this post explaining how to do the animation.
And of course a big thanks to Wolfbreak for the rom!
As always, back up before flashing in Xrecovery and I am not responsible if you break anything or suddenly become more popular.

I'll let someone else port that... It's a good one though!
I don't plan on adding a lot more to this theme anyway, since I'm about to switch roms... I may do messaging & a few other things if I get requests, but I'll be sticking w/my theme for that.
I request this in blood red and black if possible.

You need to decompile the apk before you can edit the xmls. Then you can edit them like a normal text file and then re-compile.
You will need to install ADB (android debug bridge). It has something called apktool built in that can edit apks from the command line. Then there is Apk Manager that is a frontend for apktool.
That will get you started. There is lots of good info here on Xda and even Google if you search those tools. Good luck!

(MOD + How to) Transparent statusbar for 9500/9505

Flash from recovery, both odexed and deodex roms supported.
Note: Latest Nova beta gives transparent statusbar without any mod.
1: Download the correct version: 9500 or 9505
2: Place the zip on internal/external sd
3: Reboot into recovery
4: Flash zip
5: Reboot
The zip will remove any systemui.odex file if its present in the system/app folder.
(Do it yourself):
1: Use apk-tools to decompile SystemUI.apk
2: If you get an error in decompiling the apk: remove the
"system_bar_settings_view.xml" and "system_bar_notification_panel_title.xml" from the layout folder
(SystemUI.apk\res\layout\). Do not forget to add the files back after compiled the modded the statusbar.
3: Go to the decompiled folder \Apk Manager\projects\SystemUI.apk\res\values
4: Open drawables.xml with Notepad++
5: Change
Code:

#ff1e1e1e

to
100 % transparent :
Code:

#00000000

80% transparent :
Code:

#88000000

6: Compile the apk, add the 2 files back if you removed them
7: Add the apk to the updater zip.
Update: more on setting the transpancy:
A good software to get the color codes:
http://download.cnet.com/ARGB-To-Hex-Converter/3000-2192_4-10565877.html
Some numbers:
#00000000 - black with 100% transparency
#3F000000 - black with 75% transparency
#7F000000 - black with 50% transparency
#BF000000 - black with 25% transparency

You should be able to use one of the systemui files from 1st post. Delete the associated odex file first, in system/app folder.

Are you sure you've installed the right version? OP has i9500 in the attachments and i9505 in the box.com link.
---------- Post added at 09:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:53 AM ----------
OP, is it possible to make a file where the notification bar is dark grey (like the original) instead of black when used with apps please? I have an i9505.
Doesn't the transparent background work properly with scrollable wallpapers? I've noticed that it works fine on the single-screen lockscreen:
But doesn't align properly with the scrollable homescreen wallpaper:
It seems to draw its background from the centre of the wallpaper:
Is there any way to fix this, or is it just an embedded feature of the transparency option?
Dosen't work for me i9500
Deodex rom
I removed .odex file and replace SystemUI.apk
How i set permission ?
This working for 9505 odex would be awesome!
It does not work on i9500

The posted version in 1st post runs on stock 9505, make sure you delete the odex file first.
Note: I have a very slim rom for 9500 ready. Runs very smoothly. Anyone want to try?

Just to confirm about the black --> white backgrounds, which line of code you actually edit and where? Is it in "colors.xml"?
Coz I've been trying to fix the same problem myself with apktool and I haven't been successful much. A shame about the text though.
Thanks in advance.

Actually, that fixes the icon colours. What he actually wants is below, I think - as I was suffering from the exact problem.

Code:
<color name="tw_notification_action_button_text_color">
<color name="tw_notification_action_button_background_color">
Change the first to black from teal and the second to white from black and you're all set.
Thanks for the inspiration though guys.

Yeah, I just did a dirty copy and overwrite - which *will* of course cause a freeze - and quickly turned the phone on and off. Afterwards it boots fine with no bootloops.
I do need to remind you though, after recompiling you *HAVE* to copy the META-INF folder and AndroidManifest.xml file from your old framework-res.apk into the new one.
Or at least that's what I did.
Also, I'm using TotalCommander, which helpfully overwrites a file with the previous file's permissions intact. I'm not sure about other file managers - theoretically if the FM doesn't preserve file permissions while overwriting, a bootloop could occur as the new framework-res.apk will *NOT* have the correct permissions.
Thank you
