H2O Internet Settings in CM7 - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hey. I have been having an issue getting data to work for H2O mobile when using CM7 (latest nightly.) I have tried using the settings that they list on their website, but it says that I must enter an MCC and MNC number when it says it should be blank. If I leave the defaults, it does not work. I downloaded their install app, but the data still does not work with those settings selected. All CM7 based roms do this (at least all those released within the past 2 months.)
The strange thing is that it does work (with the install method) when using OTA based roms. I don't know why one does and one doesn't. On the OTA it says I am running on AT&T, where as H2O shows up on CM7.
Does anyone have a solution for this? Or will CM7 just not work?
Thanks.

CM7 has a problem with data connections in general on the G2x. Try doing a hard reboot and see if that brings back a data connection for you, if you had one in the first place
Once again, a hard reboot is holding power + volume up until the phone resets

I never had data on 2.3.5, but I did a hard restart and still nothing. :/

Nexus S Not Connecting to Network on Reboot

My dad's Nexus S keeps disconnecting from Wind and will NOT automatically reconnect to Wind. I've set it to Automatic. On top of this, *every* time I enable Wifi or Bluetooth on his device, his Wind connection drops and remains dropped until I manually reconnect.
The only way around this issue is if I manually select Wind's network in the settings menu, thereby avoiding 'Select automatically'. The problem here is that when the phone needs a reboot, it doesnt remember the last network and it needs to be manually selected *again*.
I've done a quick search via Google and there are others having the same/similar problem;
http://www.google.ca/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=34411ac78e8a4ff6&hl=en
Apparently the 2.3.6 update doesn't fix this either. Is there a 2.3.7 release? I'm even thinking of rooting and flashing the phone to use a custom ROM (MIUI, its much cleaner with better shortcuts which my dad would like).
Does anyone know of a solution to this? I'm thinking of going into Wind and having it replaced (its less than a week old). Question is, if he's racked up more than 30 minutes, can he still get a straight exchange for the phone? Would it still be eligible for exchange/replacement if I tried the ICS update to the phone?
Did you guys root the phone? Ans if you did, did you installed custom rom? If so, it just might be the incompatibility with the Nexus S. If you didn't root it, the phone just might be defected. Try updating the os. It always doesn't hurt to update os. If that doesn't work, I guess you should return it and get the new one it somethign :/

At the minimum, I would try updating to 2.3.6.
Yeah try to update to newer os. And if that doesn't work, I guess you should exchange your phone or something??

I've updated my original question with more details.
But no, its not a rooted phone. Everything is stock Android 2.3.4. The phone is only about 5 days old, we got it for him on the 27th of December (or 26th, cant remember). I have installed a few applications (cnn news, wp.pl, bbc news, unit converter, etc). I've updated all the applications as well.
How can I obtain 2.3.6 and install it? Is the process difficult and would it render the phone non-returnable to his carrier for fixing/replacing?
If you have stock, the process is easy was snap if there's a avaliable ota update to your phone. Go to setting-about phone-system update (I'm pretty sure) and if there's an update for your phone, you can download and install the new rom from there.

Will it give me the option to update to Iced Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 as well?

Hi, I have the exact same problem as the original poster, except worse.
I lose my data connection when I turn on wifi, or after I reboot my phone. And once I lose the connection, I have to power off and take out the battery for it to work again. My phone was already rooted when this problem start about 4 days ago, was using stock rom (2.3.6) I downloaded for my I9020T (don't ask, minor hiccup when I was rooting my phone...)
So far I've tried the following:
1. boot to CWM recovery -> factory reset, wipe cache, unsuccessful
2. *#*#4636#*#*, changed preferred network to WCMDA preferred or only, unsuccessful (I also had issues with sending SMS, so I also updated the SMSC, which is 07916174080001f6 for Mobilicity in Canada). Also selected "Automatic" in "Select radio band".
3. I flashed the OS to cyanogen, still same problem.
4. In mobile settings, tried changing apn, toggle data connection, 2g/3g, "Select automatically", doesn't work.
5. a whole bunch of other voodoo I found on the web, but none worked.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is flashing with a stock sbf, because I can't seem to be able to find one.
The error message I see in *#*#4636#*# -> Phone info is something like DcInactiveConnection...: unknown data error (sorry can't remember the whole thing).
Also tried asking mobilicity to refresh my service, but that also didn't help.
I ran logcat in terminal emulator and searched through the log for "error" or anything suspicious, the only thing I saw were these,
1. Error loading keycharmap file '/system/usr/keychars/herring-keypad.kcm.bin'
2. caused by: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Connection timed out
I/TelephonyRegistry( 188): notifyDataConnection: state=0 isDataConnectivityPossible=false reason=apnSwitched interfaceName=null networkType=3
I/TelephonyRegistry
3. onErrorResponse: Failed to send 5 events because of [com.android.volley.TimeoutError]
D/Volley
Tried googling all of them but didn't find anything useful.
I've been at this for the past 4 days and still haven't been able to fix this. I tried swapping in another mobilicity sim card and it also had the same behaviour, so it's definitely something with my phone.
Also, after I power down and remove the battery and power it back up again, the connection still doesn't come back automatically, but I have to toggle the airplane mode to get it to connect.
At this point, what else can/should I try? Or should I just ask them to send it for warranty?
Any help/advice will be VERY much appreciated!!!! And apologies for the essay.
Thanks!
NM, I reread your post. I have nothing for you. Sorry.

I can`t enable internet in MIUI

After installing MIUI I can`t enable data transfer (2g/3g internet). Data transfer is turning on, but there is no 2g/3g logo and internet. This happens after installing all MIUI stock and custom roms. APN settings is correct, before it was ok. I`m installing via Clockwork recovery v5. Device is G2x (P999)
What should I do? How to enable it?
I believe for the g2x you should see an H next to the bars, that is if you are in a good service area.
Otherwise I think it also shows G, and E.
If it doesn't have anything at all, then I'm not sure.
Does the internet work when you go inti the browser?

I had this problem before, go to ur APNs and go to authentication and make the authentication "None" instead of "Not set". That will enable ur data

Hey go to SETTINGS->MOBILE NETWORKS->ACCESS POINT NAMES-> in here select option button in your android phone, in the menu select NEW APN, you will get the APN settings as seen in this. In the link ACCESS NUMBER = SERVER in mobile.
As I am not allowed to post link for first ten TIMES! will guide you through
google search -> "vodafone apn address" the third result will be GPRS APN Settings with Username and Password - Modem Unlock. Click it and follow the method above mentioned.
Question was asked and answered.

[Solved] edge/gprs

When I first set up my Infuse (stock froyo), mobile internet (EDGE/GPRS...we don't have 3g/4g here yet) was working. Then I rooted and flashed CM7 on it. The net would still work. Then one day, it just freaking stopped working. No APNs were changed, no radio bands were touched...the carrier didn't change anything...it just stopped. I reverted it back to stock using GTG...and double confirmed the APN settings from the carrier. And it still won't work. Restart, flight mode...I've done it all. Many times over. I've tried different APNs from the net. Nothing works. I'm stumped. So is the carrier's tech support
Any idea?
Try changing ROM. Do a clean install, and do not restore any system data or apps.
I went through multiple cm7 builds...with complete formatting of /system and /data and /cache. Then odin'd 2 stock builds
Could it be a sim issue?

hmmm.... good idea... i'll try the sim in another phone to see if net works
Turned out to be a network issue. They did some backend fixing and resetting. I got the net back.

[Q] Complete noob not sure what i did

I had my phone rooted with viper mod installed and being the dumbass i was because the camera no longer worked decided to change it to the pacman mod. In the process of doing so i now have no OS and i cannot mount the sdcard. Have tried using adb to push to the sdcard but 0 (unable to find device)
Currently i have clockworkmod recovery on it. Someone please lend a helping hand , after reading for hours on end and trying different ideas i am at my wits end. phone is an htc one s through virginmobile.
update
Finally got access to the sdcard returned, tried to re-install the viper mod and only tries to boot recovery, but now it hangs on the htc recovery loading screen.
Did you flash boot.img?

Thank you for the boot flash info, i'm stunned it seems. Well i did get the phone completely up and running (txt, calls etc.), then today i noticed it says no signal limited service emergency calls only.
So i figured service was down to virginmobile.
Checked later still down , checked the apn and there wasn't one anymore.
So searched for the right info for virginmobile when entering APN it states no simcard found.
So now i can't enter any info to use the phone. Only wifi works
Have you restarted the phone?

I have seen this but on another rom and the only way I could fix it was a reflash even factory reset in TWRP didn't work.

Weird ROM behavior, no data connection

So I installed bmm without issue, made my back ups and started trying roms. I had a hell of a time getting anything to boot. I would get stuck on the boot animation every time. Finally got slim kat installed and that is the only one I can reliably boot into. Tried aokp 4.3 which booted the first time but gets stuck on the animation now.
Also, when aokp worked I had no mobile data. Same problem currently with slim kat.
Where do I go from here? I've tried clearing cache and davlik on both with no luck.

Thanks, Wasn't aware of that. I copied my APNs from my stock ROM. I get data now, just not 4g for some reason. I'm looking around to figure that one out.

I only have the options of 3g and 2g with 3g already being selected. I don't know whats going on. My stock ROM gets 4g with those APN's, re-entered everything to make sure I didn't miss anything but I still don't have 4g as an option.

Type *#*#4636#*#*
Then select ''wcdma only''
Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
Well wcdma only didn't do anything. After messing with Slimkat and another 4.4 ROM (which only worked until I rebooted) I've decided that there are just too many bugs for me to use it daily. I decided to try a 4.3 ROM but I'm still having issues getting one to boot after the first reboot. I've let it sit on the boot animation for 45 minutes and it never loaded.
I haven't found a lot of advice on the subject of ROMs only booting once. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I realize this is an old one, but I thought it might be worth mentioning...
I had the same problem. When I copied APN data (specifically "apn type") from my stock ROM data did enable, but at a very slow speed. A quick search yielded this AT&T site which suggested different settings. I was able to choose the "ATT Phone" config and modify "apn type" from "default, supl, mms" to "default, mms, supl, hipri".
When I modified that value, data was much faster, but still only clocked 3.5 Mbps on my CM ROM vs 5.1 on Stock with SpeedTest.net app. I believe it used different servers and I only did a single AB test.
...and by the way - I am also a bit frustrated with the BMM setup. It seems like a third of the time I am unable to successfully boot back into my CM ROM. It always seems to boot into Stock ROM fine. I do have CM in the second slot which it sounds like some folks prefer to not use.
