Email not updating on Captivate.

Is it just me, or are other Captivate users having problems with the email not updating? I have my email set to check for new emails once an hour, but I only rarely get notifications that I have a new message. I have to check my email manually most of the time.
Also, I never kill the email app so it is running all of the time.

Which email are you using? Yahoo! With default email client? Then yes it has issues over WI-FI. The email does not work on wifi only works on 3g or edge.

I have this problem using the touch wiz email app over cellular and wifi. Regular gmail and yahoo aps work. Have to reboot, then the touch wiz email works. Touch wiz email blows, though.

I guess I am using the default email app... I assumed it was a standard android app on all android phones. I like the app because I can have multiple email accounts in one place.
So is this a touch wiz app? Or is it an android app?

I had the same probleme before, I switched to K-9 mail and it works fine now

delete your email app's cache and or storage.

Don't use task killers.

The only problem I'm having with my email is with my corporate exchange account on both my Vibrant and Captivate.
I will get notifications about mail sent to my inbox, but I have rules set up to help organize my inbox, ex. mail from engineering dpt goes to a folder, and emails about project updates from group abc and xyz go to another folder.
I don't get notifications OR email for those emails unless I go into that specific folder and hit refresh, and then I get all those emails.
Although sometimes I will get mail notifications 7 Unread Emails but there won't be any in my inbox, nor will there be any in the folders.

I have this exact problem. No one has a solution?

This is what I did when I had the same problem with the Gmail client. This resolved the issue.

Where might one find such a thing? I'm not having any issues right now, but have run into e-mail FC issues which were resolved by removing and re-creating the e-mail accounts. If a simple delete of cache data will fix it that would be a faster solution.

I have only had my at&t Captivate for a few days, and I have noticed that my email client runs about 4 emails behind. When me IMAP server receives an email the email client sees it and notifies me, and if I'm watching it I can see the email for a split second, but it removes it from the client. I won't be able to see that email until I get another email on my IMAP server (4 emails behind).
I saw on this thread that someone had better luck with K9 client, so I loaded it to try. I am seeing the same basic results, except that when a new email comes in I can see it till the client polls again. Then the new one disappears and is replaced with the most next email in my account, staying 4 emails behind.
I can check this at any time by looking at my webmail or my iPad.
Can any tell me how to clear out the cache? I have completely deleted the email account and reconfigured the account with same results. I believe it is an OS issue.

To clear cache, from home screen:
Menu
Settings
Applications
Manage Applications
Menu - Filter-All
Scroll down to Email. Click it and clear cache. I've never actually seen anything in there on my phone, however.
On another note, I did find that ATK (Advanced Task Killer) was correlated with emails hanging in my Outbox and not sending for my Exchange Server account. I put Email on the ATK Ignore list and that solved it. (I'm only using the ATK widget to kill things like when I exit a program and GPS keeps running, but even that seemed to screw up my email.)

I have now loaded the Bionix1.2 ROM and I am having the same problem with it. I find it strange that it's only me having this problem. It stays exactly 4 emails behind.

I have now loaded the Cognition.v2.2.Beta4 and I still have the same problem. I have tried the K9 email cient, and obviousley have wipe the phone many times doing the ROM changes, and the problem remains. I would greatly appreciate any moderators feedback or help! I really love this phone and the Froyo ROM, but I need my email to work.

E-mail App

Hi, guys
I'm looking for a good Mail App that is clean and simple.
GMail: GMail is quite good. But I don't like the fact, that I can't deactivate to group the E-Mails. If I have more E-mails, I want them seperatly and not grouped like in Gmail.
Stock Android E-mail: This is an app I'm looking for. Simple and clean interface. Only problem is, that I can't push Mail to other folders.
An app I like is k-9. But it takes a long time to configurate it. Does anybody know an app that is in between the stock e-mail app and K-9? Would be great if I could add more than one account and switch between. (like HTCMail)

Enhanced E-mail is excellent!push notification is what makes it rule out k-9

+2 Enhanced Email is a great app, works with hotmail accounts to.

I'm going to have to agree with those suggesting Enhanced Email...just switched from K9 recently and it's great so far. A big plus is that the dev is often in the chat/forums on EE's site helping figure out any problems and working on requested features.

Thanks everyone! The support for my app Enhanced Email has been incredible. I continue to give back to the community here on XDA and via Twitter just as a show of gratitude. Not sure how many people know I got my start here with my Email app which eventually made it on to the market.

Anyone knows wad is the settings for exchange hotmail & live accounts? How to set up?

Seven emaiil client is one of the best, auto setup for Hotmail, gmail, yahoo. and only real yahoo push mail client(third party), Home screen widget support too.

[Q] Social hub

Does anyone use the social hub on their note? I've been persevering as I like the concept, but I'm finding it a bit limited in functionality. e.g. no option to select multiple items.
Also it always opens on the feeds page, which I hardly ever use.
Is anyone else using it?

Yep I use it and love it. Have 5 email accounts, facebook, twitter and linkedin all in one place. Superb app

I try to use it ! I think it's difficult to use in with de note. I also want to have e-mail first and not the fields page...

the scrolling on it is really slow. Anyone else get that?

no more using it...and set it to not boot at startup. laggy for me too

I'd like to give this a test drive, anyone able to post up the latest social hub apk?
Seems it's not in the market now, and I'd frozen it when it first launched as I don't use facebook and other (anti)social stuff, but it might be worthwhile now I'm sync'ing work email so that I can use one app to handle work and personal email. I like how the default mail app does pinch-zoom which gmail lacks, so if social hub will do that and handle gmail the same way I'd be happy. After freezing it and then updating firmware the apk's seem to have gone so cannot re-install

Social Hub will use the stock email app for emails, so you can pretty set up your account there.
I'm not using it anymore since it consumes a lot of memory. Also, occasionally the account for Windows Live would suddenly stop working with no way to retrieve mails. Furthermore the extra things that it can do for emails can be configured in the stock email without it. Example, to use Hotmail, configure the server to m.hotmail.com as Exchange account. For Yahoo, configure it as imap. You get push service for both.
For social apps, since I'm using Facebook official app, I don't see why I need to set it up using Social Hub. Well the thing I hate the most is that I can't choose the default tab when I start it up.

thanks for the info, I was hoping to just have one app in the quick launch area for exchange/gmail/IM but maybe sticking with stock apps is a better bet then. Might look at moving the gmail accounts into this and dropping the gmail app instead.

I've been using social hub anytime now, it works fine. putting all accounts in one, easy to access emails and messaging the only thing is that, it eats more memory (allocating more memory to social hub0 with out actively using it.

[Q] Facebook Notification Problem

Hi there.
Altough I've searched it through Desire S forum, I couldn't find anything about it. I've been using Endymion V3.5 ROM for about a week and I can't get any Facebook notifications. I've done all settings on the app and phone's accounts and sync. But nothing happened. All other social network notifications works perfect e.g. Instagram, Foursquare, Twitter. Just Facebook resists. Wondering is it about ROM or anything else? I've started using Facebook after I've installed this ROM btw. I haven't been using it since 2009. Thus, I can't say anything about my previous use.
So is there anything I can do about it?

Did you install Facebook and Facebook Messenger? Notifications are working again since I uninstalled the extra messenger..

It didn't work, I get a friend request but there was no notification even though I installed the messenger app. Any other ideas?

You could Try the App " Friendcaster ".
Just login with your Fb credentials & allow the app access to your Fb profile.
The App has everything you need, from notifications.... To Syncing your Fb friends list!

email app not syncing automatically

The email app has recently stopped working on my Z3.
I can manually refresh the app to get emails, but for some reason it wont autosync.
Is anybody else having this issue? And know of any fixes? Thanks

Had the same issue after upgrading FW through Flash Tool. Unfortunately I didn't find the solution, so I did a factory reset.

After playing around with the settings, I changed the sync times to every half an hour?
I am now at least getting now sync notifications, which is a good sign.
However, it's only worked for one account so far

The updated Gmail app supports using other accounts, I use it to sync my Outlook and Yahoo, you could try that. I think they will slowly depreciate the E-Mail app just like the Android Browser.
