My girlfriend has a HTC Wildfire that she has had for some time. We want to install Cyanogenmod on it because she has been having some problems with the stock ROM. Unfortunately (not being very techy) she has managed to make a complete mess of her contacts in HTC's "People" app. Most are stored on the phone, some on the SIM, some on Google and then the rest are Facebook for HTC contacts. Is there an easy way to unify all these contacts as I would like to back them up before rooting and installing CM on the phone?
Ideally I would just like to make them all google contacts so that if she changes from HTC in the future we don't have an issue getting the contacts off again.
Many thanks.
try pim backup
I had this to on a HTC Legend from my last workplace. I also used exchange to syncronize job mail etc. Some contacts merged without my doing and turned out complete fail.
My resort was to arrange all my contact as i wanted them on my gmail account through my PC and only allowing facebook syncronize the existing contacts. I also stripped the syncronizing with exchange to only download e-mails.
Now I have a working system that automaticly functions even on the new phone I bought when I quit my job.

Hi,
After several happy years with my P3600/TyTn I am quickly falling in love with the Hero. It seems to have all I need (plus a lot I like), but does anyone know whether EasySync Pro works on this device/OS ?
I use EasySync to sync my (employer's) Lotus Notes calendar, email and contacts with the P3600. Would not want to miss this functionality in future !
Many thanks in advance
Sync Lotus Notes with HTC Sync on Hero
HTC Sync v 2.08 now supports synchronizing contacts and calendar info for Lotus notes. I just synced my Notes calendar to my Sprint HTC Hero. It does not transfer the attendees, but at least you get all the other calendar information (date/time/place). Im not sure why they don't advertise this when they mention outlook.
HTC Sync can be downloaded from HTC's website. I think this is the cleanest and freest solution to an android device. I had read about using companion link and don't like the idea of sending all the data to google's servers first.
Forgot to mention. I also used Easy Sync Pro with my Touch Pro and Mogul. Easy Sync only works with a windows mobile device or the old Palm OS. So ... NO, you cannot use it with the HTC Hero.
Dear All
I need an expert help... i recently used facebook for HTC sense on my HTC desire and i got all additional information to my existing contact list like birthdays, emails, profile pictures ....now i tried to syn to my outlook my contacts with all the new additional information but the sync didnt include anything new and kep my contact list on the original format (name and phone only)
How can i sync to my outlook the new people information to be used in the future in any other phone????!!! please help i really need this......
I have a HTC Desire sync with Exchange 2003 sp2.
My first problem: it don't sync all contacts. (only about 3040, missing ~80)
The second: sometimes when creating a new contact with the phone it make a new contact fine but overwrites an old ones name phone number and email with the new contacts data.
How can i fix this?
Try making a new account or edit the contact in gmail manually.
Hello all,
I've purchased today an HTC Inspire via eBay, and i was wondering, is there a way to transfer my data (contacts/sms/other stuff) from Windows Mobile 6.5 (previous HTC Touch Pro 2) to the Inspire's Android system?
Thank you

Don't know if you can transfer sms though. Pics and music can be transferred using the USB cord.
To export contacts you could use Thunderbird.
It does a fairly good job exporting WinMo contacts to CSV. Pending how many iterations of MS Exchange Servers you went through you may have to edit the Excel (CSV) file or edit the contacts later on in google's contact manager. If you decide to edit the CSV it's a little bit trial and error before everything fits to googles format but it's worth the effort (I have ~1200 contacts and had to edit perhaps 150 manually after the import). SMS's will be lost, pictures can be copied manually.
Thanks, all... but on the emotion of having my htc inspire with me, i didn't even back up my contacts
If you sync with Outlook, HTC sync will work with syncing contacts & calendar. It may cause duplication though.
For sms, install SMS backup on both winmo & android.
Outlook task won't sync though.

hello,
Is there a solution for my exchange mail not syncing properly? The problem is that new email syncs fine, but when I change a mail in Outlook on the laptop, the change in most cases does not sync to the phone.
Some info:
Android version :2.3.5
Kernel version : 2.10.161.3
Can anyone help me? What do I need to do? Flash a custom ROM?

Are you using Exchange mail? Outlook is delaying changes, I've noticed it too. Eventually they go through, on the next change. I'm blaming Outlook, because sometimes forced update still doesn't bring the changes, but if you do something else in Outlook and/or force-update it - it propagates to the phone.
Hi Jack,
Sorry, but I believe it is.something else.... When I use another client on my Desire (like thunderbird) the changes sync properly. However I would like to keep the stock email app. Problem seems primarily in the inbox. When I move a mail from inbox to another folder, it is present in both inbox and the other folder on my Desire S.
