i have switched carriers, and want to sell my d2g i used the 2.4.29 sbf file and rsd lite to restore it to normal, and its stuck at the droid screen i cant believe im having a noob moment. i made sure all my usb drivers where up to date and had the newest version of rsdlite any advice would be great ?
Pull the battery.
If it doesn't help, go to the stock recovery and perform “wipe data/factory reset”.
Just in case you don't know how to get to the stock recovery, here: http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/Android_Recovery
grrr it says E:cant't open /cache/recovery/command
E:can't open/ cache/recovery/caller
Are you sure the SBF process was completed successfully?
Speaking of which, did you SBF booting the phone into the SBF loader?
The errors you saw are ok simply do wipe cache data and you should be fine.

im using DROID2WE_X6_2.4.29_FULL.sbf becuase i wanted to test out the seem edit for unblocking the US gsm bands since im back on at&t now.
my D2G was running the latest build of Fission rom before TBH stoped supporting it. when im sbf'ing i do not really notice any errors when its done it says manually restart phone, but i cant because its in a boot loop. do i have to keep an sd card in it when im doing this ?

Close RSDlite, and just take the battery out for a second. The phone will boot normally.

Does RSDLite finish 100% successful and then can't boot? Did you try it without sdcard?
I guess that you have tried to install 2.2 on your XT, and you are in boot loop (M logo), but you can enter bootloader mode, and if you do RSD lite shows imei, and other data something like this: "000x000000x00"?
some XT720 have problems with open recovery (possible?) and if you flash OR and put 2.2 on it you will brick your mobile (I managed to do that, and a few other people, and unfortunately only solution is motorola repair center - you can't unbrick it)
for others:
I think that you can test if your mobile is gonna be bricked in a simple way...
root your phone, download "ledmeknow" from market, and if there isn't detected any LEDs then don't flash 2.2 on your phone
EDIT
I see that you can enter open recovery...if you can, then you are safe
just wipe all data from it, flash new sbf and you will be fine
Not replying back so must have resolved it.

How can you use OpenRecovery after flashing a SBF? The hijacked sh will be missing... after flashing a stock sbf you have to root the phone and install the OpenRecovery hijacks. If you can't boot, how do you do that? So there must be something wrong with your drivers or RSDlite. You could also try sbf_flash on Linux or MacOS if you think RSDlite is messing up.
On my Milestone XT720 always have to use the Motorola Recovery to do a factory reset after flashing the Motoroi XT720 sbfs because it won't boot immediately after flashing. Not sure if that could be a problem for flashing Motoroi on Motoroi, though.

It's like 4:15am in Korea... he'll be back
I have a few questions of my own regarding that issue. I have Dexter's ROM installed on my Motorola Milestone XT720.
Everything works fine, even though I've had to reinstall the ROM along the way.
Total noob question:
Can I boot my XT720 into recovery mode if it won't boot up at all? (Motorola logo stays on screen, nothing else happens)
I have a recent boot/system/data backup in my nandroid folder, what's the quickest way to recover it when android won't start up?
Basically I seem to have this problem here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431277
I have the image but I need an .sbf file for RSDlite ... or does that not make sense?
I have downloaded the Indian firmware -> Retail Indian - 5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-SEARET and have updated the file via bootstrap.
I have performed factory reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvik and everything was working fine for 4 hours.
Now my phone is not responding to any keys, a green light is blinking at the top, I have removed the battery and switched it on after replacing it.
It turns on, shows the signal and other icons but the lock button is displayed and it doesnt respond.
If I call to my number I am able to answer it and after ending it again it goes back to same stage.
Please help. I am stuck here.

You might have to flash the fkz...
I dont have the fkz file, I have a zip file in the sd card.
It will be really helpful if you can provide me steps to do that or can you let me know how to enter recovery mode with CWM.
I am really freaking out, please help me out.
I took a backup of the original ROM before installing this ROM.

Ok, go to this post, it is the beginners thread, and it explains how to flash the fxz factory restore file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
And need to pick your fxz file from here, not sure of the exact one you need:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
Follow the instructions in the link above about halfway down the first post there. Just use the right file from the link I provided, instead of the AT&T retail version in the beginners thread.
The instructions will start with:

Download the fkz from here.Be sure to choose your region.
First off what OS are you running on you computer?
Download RSD Lite and drag and drop the fkz into RSD. Then boot your phone into fasboot by powering up while holding vol up+down.
Read the noob thread for more detailed instructions found here.
Thank you for the instructions and your help.
This is a AT&T phone which I got it from US.
Shall I install the original AT&T?
I have few steps meanwhile waiting for someone to reply.
I pressed vol up/down and power button and went into system recovery
wiped cache and did factory reset and I tried to install from Sd card.
It said E-verification failed.
I thought I lost hope and I restarted to see if it works.
Now I am able to see the setup screen when we first switch on the phone.
The android setup. I dont want to risk getting into this mess again, this is my sister's phone and she will kill me if it doesnt work properly.
I want to install the actual At&T version. Can I install it from SD card via CWM recovery?
I would be happy to continue with the current Indian version, I am afraid after few hours it will again go into the same mode as it happened today morning when I installed the Victory Rom, I dont understand why I am facing this problem even though I am following all the instructions.
Are there any apps which I shouldn't install like Titanium recovery, my backup, ES file manager? Is the battery saving mode got anything to do with this?
I am really sorry for asking so many questions, I am confused and I need your help badly. I wont play with this phone for ever if I set this straight.
Please advise.
You would want to boot into AP Fastboot then use RSD Lite to flash the AT&T fkz.

Hi, Have you tried Manual reset to clear the data/factory this sorted my install of Cm7 the other day when it boot looped.
To Manually Reset
If there are significant problems with your device or you are not able to follow the steps above please use the following process to manually reset the phone:
Turn off phone
Press Power key + Camera Key + GalleryKey to power on the phone and bring up the recovery screen
When the Triangle/Exclamation point screen appears, press Volume Up + Gallery Key down and tap the camera key to show the recovery menu.
When the recovery window appears, use the volume up/down keys to navigate the menu and the camera key to enter your selection.
Select Wipe data/factory reset
Select Reboot Phone

i run adb or terminal but my phone is not recognised i already installed usb drivers for xt720. any steps to boot my phone in recovery using pc?
Which sbf are you using?
I think it's possible to create a synthetic sbf that wipes /data and /cache, must many of them should already do that. There's always a risk that the reboot is caused by something else father than lack of wipe. IIRC this usually happen after boot animation.
Anyway, I'm wondering if you're trying to flash the modsbf--that will never boot after sbf.
i used us brightpoint and all other sbf but still it keeps rebooting after m logo.wont go through bootanimation.i havent tried to flash modsbf. mioze wer can i get the synthetic sbf that wipes all? if ever it exist can u link me the sbf?

The brightpoint is already a full flash that should wipe /data and /cache (it contains empty /data and /cache). Some of the Korean ones are service flashes that don't wipe data which is why I asked. (Don't bother with modsbf--you must have working stock recovery for that to work) The idea would be to use sbf-depacker to create a sbf that only has data.img and cache.img taken from eg the brightpoint, but I don't think that will help here since brightpoint doesn't work... I assume you've tried flashing and booting with the sdcard and sim removed?
hi!

So, today I trade my HTC One for a RAZR XT925, $350, and a water proof 32GB Sandisk ultra sd card on Kijiji. I thought it was kinda weird to get all of this stuff, but it seemed fine at the time. Afterwards however, I found out that every time you turn off or reboot the phone, it tried to go into recovery mode or something with the android guy and a bar at the bottom in a loop and always factory reset the phone, so no matter what, every time you turned it off, it'd reset it. After hours and hours of work, I have the bootloader unlocked, rooted, CWM installed, and Cynogenmod also installed. It no longer factory resets it (I think, but i sent a text to a random number and when I rebooted it was still there), however, everytime i power off and power on, it goes into recovery mode. This is very annoying and will make it very hard to sell again, but if I can fix this last thing, I'll have a solid phone until the waterproof S4 comes out as well as having made like $100.
So basically, I need to know what to do to make it boot into the rom by default and not the recovery. Also, I searched it up and someone else had a problem where they kept booting into AP fastboot mode I think, I tried that line, it said successful, but it didnt work. For me, it's booting into the recovery by default.

I root it, unlocked the boot loader, flashed cwm recovery, and installed CyanogenMod. Now it boots into cwm recovery by default and if I click reboot system now, it just boots back into cwm. Only way to get to the system is to go to the boot menu by pressing all three buttons and selecting boot normally.
Stock recovery is gone. Cwm asked to replace it so that the phone doesn't reinstall it on reboot. Cwm doesn't, but when the phone booted it stock recovery, it used to get wiped.

No the problem was in stock. When I got it it wasn't rooted or anything, rooting helped fix the problem partially by not making it wipe every time I boot it. Now the only problem is that whenever I boot it up after a shut down or restart, it boots into recovery mode instead of the ROM.

did you ever find a solution for this? I just bought a used phone and am facing the same problem - I can't even boot into recovery, it will just start bootlooping again. Only thing that seems to be working is fastbood mode. (or regular reboot, but then everything is wiped every time)

After a few hours, I (somehow) ended up being able to enter recovery. On the downside though, now it always goes automatically into fastboot, because everything seems to be screwed up. I even got CWM installed though (unlocked the device because I didn't know what else to do).
Now every time it goes into fastboot, the reason given is: "sticky bit fastboot"
Any ideas left?
Oh btw, I have a german phone, in case that matters somehow. I can't flash in any fastboot way anymore, now I always get some message about a downgraded version. Of course details can be supplied if needed.
edit: was now able to flash CM, no idea what I did so that it didn't give me errors anymore. It still goes into fastboot by default on every reboot though, I always need to select "reboot device" manually every time.

Sounds like you are able to use the phone. That’s good.
The error is saying it can’t downgrade the trust zone (tz) right? That is normal for a phone with an unlocked bootloader. You can simply ignore that.
The sticky bit fastboot problem looks like it can be fixed by issuing this command while in fastboot mode: fastboot oem fb_mode_clear

the fb_mode_clear was the culprit, thanks a lot!
and the error says: "downgraded security version. update gpt_main version failed. preflash validation failed for GPT" - which is still keeping me from flashing stuff via fastboot.
since I can't fastboot flash at the moment: do you happen to know where I can get the german modem image so that I can flash it using CWM? I think through all the flashing and trying I have a corrupt or wrong modem file (probably the US version). I can not log into the carrier network right now. it asks me for my SIM PIN and unlocks the SIM, but that's it. so I can't make phone calls or anything right now.

Do you have a custom recovery installed as well...?
I know you said you are rooted... if you have a custom recovery you can try doing a factory reset, may fix the issue - note you will lose any user settings and data/apps.
If you are on stock recovery, I'm not sure what the issue would be - you "should" be able to take OTA's using stock recovery. You cannot take OTA's if you are on a custom recovery.

Looks like that site has you flash CWM, so your answer would be "yes"....
In which case you can't take OTA's. You should be able to restore your backup in CWM, which I'm wondering if you took...?
If you don't have a backup, you can try doing a factory reset and booting... otherwise you might have to completely reset the device using a FXZ file and RSD Lite.

Start with the least painful, and move to the most.

Try putting the phone into fastboot mode, and see if RSD picks up the device then.
I believe if you turn off the device, and turn it back on holding the camera button you'll get some boot options.

So you hold power + vol down until the phone shuts off. Then hold power + camera (quickly) after it shuts down. It should turn on to a menu, hit volume down until you select "AP Fastboot". Then vol up selects, and you should see the AP Fastboot Flash Mode screen...
