good find

Talk about another mini firesale waiting to happen.

Looks like interesting device.....Do you now any un-crackable????? All device may be crackable, but what's about time of this crack?

i wonder why there are less interested in the BB play book, as it is just as good as the HP touchpad
just because it's $199 vs $99 ?

playbook would be awesome with android

I'm guessing that by this time next year most 7" tablets will have settled somewhere between $199 and $299 in price. Kinda ridiculous to pay $500 for a tablet in this economic downturn when for the same $500 one can buy a decent laptop. A 7" 16GB wi-fi only tablet, running the latest version of android, and easy to root, for a price of $250 would sell VERY well. Not to mention that it would get lots of dev support for custom ROMs and such. One can dream...

Viewsonic Tegra2 Dual Core 1GHz G-Tablet $379 at Sears

The Viewsonic 10 inch "G-Tablet" discussed in the link below ($349 from Sears) has the Nividia dual core 1ghz Tegra 2 processor. It sounds like it has pretty decent hardware but lacking in software due to not being an official Google product and having a poor performing UI.
http://androidandme.com/2010/11/tabl...sears-for-379/
Viewsonic G-Tablet specs include:
NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual ARM cortex (1Ghz)
Capacitive Multi-Touch/Multi Tasking panel
10.1” 1024 X 600 TFI LCD Screen
512 MB RAM, Mass Memory 16 GB
Mini USB x 1; Full size USB x 1
1.3MP Front –Facing Webcam
Earphone x 1
Micro SD card slot
2 x 1 W speaker
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
G sensor/Light sensor
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
3500mAh/7.4V Li-polymer Battery Life 8-10 Hours
Slim design (267 x 173 x 14.3mm) Wt. 820 Grams
Buttons: Home/Back/Menu/Volume/Power
OS / Android 2.2
Headphone Jack
Built in Microphone
"Original information out of Viewsonic said this device would cost over $500, but Sears is selling a WiFi-only version that lacks the sim-card slot of the more expensive model. Some overseas models were also reported to include 1 GB of RAM, but the Sears unit is shipping with 512 MB RAM."
"The good news is that this tablet comes with Android 2.2, but that might be there the fun ends. This tablet was not certified by Google so it lacks all the Google Mobile Services including the official Android Market. Thankfully you can still sideload apps and alternative markets like SlideME."
You can buy the "G-tablet" here: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...1&blockType=G1 Use the zoom feature on the picture to get a really good close up of the device buttons and LEDs etc. I like the clean and simple look. Three buttons is nice too and the Wifi only will work perfectly with a tethering Nexus One. At $380 it is ~$120 cheaper than the equivalent iPad.
I think this would be a good candidate for dev support to take advantage of the hardware to root and optimize for 10" display. If developers are interested in rocking this device I am definitely picking one up.
Do you think developers would work with this device?

Engadg'et reports Woow tablet 'g tab' look-a-like out in December.

engadget.com/2010/11/25/woow-digitals-the-one-tablet-cooks-up-tegra-2-with-gingerbread
From Engadget...
"Woow Digital before either, but we've just received some very legit-looking imagery of the company's forthcoming tablet, modestly titled The One. Google's impending Android Gingerbread release is promised as the OS, while the internal equipment includes an NVIDIA Tegra 2 core, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of flash storage. Up front you'll find a 10-inch display spanning a 1024 x 600 resolution, while wireless connectivity is taken care of with Bluetooth, WiFi and WCDMA 3G radios built in. Woow tells us it plans to launch The One in Japan before Christmas at a price of ¥42,000 ($504), which will be followed up by availability in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Europe. Well, it had better hope that release schedule doesn't shift, because come CES 2011, we should be up to our ears in Tegra 2 tablets and phones."
Check out the images, it looks dead-on for a G Tab. They claim that 'Gingerbread' will be released on it. May be good news for us G Tab owners.
Cheers,
Mojav
The images show 2.2 as the version. But, it does also show 1GB, so at least that much should be true. Granted, it could be a pre-release version.
Gingerbread (if true) would be awesome because it's very likely that we could use the boot.img / system.img off this clone. If anyone finds a dump of this thing next month, please tell us on the IRC channel or PM me.
I haven't shelled out for one of these yet because I'm still divided on which tablet is the best.
The short list is:
WooW Digital, Advent Vega, Malata Zpad T2, Viewsonic G-tablet, Toshiba Folio 100, eLocity A7.
Which one of these is the best (Price vs Features vs Quality) and why?
The Archos 101 was on my list but that is officially out since it cannot keep up with these other ones.
I've also recently spotted this one for a brilliant price (~$230). It's an iPad knockoff but it has a smaller screen (8" ... grr I want 10"), plastic-fantastic but a no-joke A8 + 512MB RAM + 4GB ROM. I think it can be improved with some custom software and Google hacks. But there is a few things that make me wonder (touchscreen type, multitouch, tvout, 3G, bluetooth, viewing angles, microSD etc etc)

And here is the same one but with an upgraded 1024x600 display:

Or should I just wait for the Acer Tablet 10in? (same as G-Tablet but 1GB RAM and 720p screen!)

Interesting, that price is about one month salary for the average worker. Compare that to here (USA) a computer is 3-4 days of an average workers salary. I great start to helping the 8th largest population to become digital
there are lots of those similar ones on deal extreme
all of those android "laptops" are more a Netbook than an actual laptop.
I hope they open it for the international market...may be at a higher price so that the government can further subsidize the local price and make it more affordable

But see it is something huge for a country like Bangladesh...
If it's any good and doesn't have any mjaor problems, i would buy one.
here's a semi decent one like the one OP mentioned
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/7-resi...c-with-wifi-tf-hdmi-white-arm-cortex-a9-67193
again only 512 RAM, froyo, ARM 9, 4GB internal, 7" screen, sd card slot, 3.5mm Audio,2 x USB 2.0, 1 x HDMI, Earphone, power adapter included
another one http://www.dealextreme.com/p/8-touc...d-2-2-tablet-pc-w-wifi-tf-arm-v9-800mhz-70508
8" instead
Getting one of these is something that I need to look into
i've been keeping my eyes on many of those
waiting for a dual core model to pop up
Screw it and get a decent tablet and a blue tooth keypad, I love my gtab and with all the development going on I can have anew device in a few mins .
IM looking for a cheap but rather reliable pad for a 10yo and occasionally a 4-5yo
I would buy one, thats a heck of a deal for the average user.
Resistive screens are terrible unfortunately otherwise it's pretty decent.

I think that is a good price for something like that. but what is the HD space? and you cant do much of anything major with 512MB ram but its probably a descent piece of harware
Again I'd like to stress that there are scores of such tabs already available, but it is something big and commendable for a developing nation like Bangladesh.

Dragonfly Futurefön

I came across the following product on IndieGogo, and I have to admit that I got really curious by their story. They designed a device that combines a phone, a tablet and a laptop. And not only that, but you actually get a 7 inch phone and a 2x7 inch dualscreen laptop. Tabletmode is the 7 inch phone with a very special dock which will be explained later. Oh, and the device runs Android and Windows. Simultaneously.
To dive right into the specs, click here. To read the story and see the full indiegogo page, click here.
Specs
The windroid version comes with a i5 or i7 processor (t.b.d.), 4 or 8 gb of ram and 256gb of SSD storage. The graphics card will be the intel 4400 or 5000 series.
The phone (and tablet) come equipped with a Snapdragon 801 (can change to the 810 closer to production), 3gb of ram, 16,32 of 64 gb of storage and a 3200mAh battery (which can increase closer to production).
The pure android version doesn't have the seperate windows hardware and functions solely with the phone hardware. The phone also comes with a bluetooth headset and touch pen.
Prijs
The Windroid version can be pre-ordered on Indiegogo for 400 dollars. The Android version is priced at 300 dollars. When released the pricing is planned to be 799 and 599 dollars respectively.
I think the pricing on both of these devices is amazing for the stuff you get, both the Indiegogo and release prices. The are some drawbacks though, especially if you are an intensive laptop user. Double screen is nice, but 2x7" is extremely small to work comfortably. What do you guys think? Is this the "next big thing"?
