If you flashed EP1W, you're already rooted. I don't know of any EP1W builds that have been released unrooted. Check for the Superuser app. You should have it, and if you do, you're rooted.
Would it be with all my other apps

no problem yeah its kind of an information overload at first, I felt the same when I first got an android phone...
CWM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112804
just use Odin to flash CWM, then boot into it right after you Odin it and flash the attached .zip (put on your sd card first)... and presto you'll be rooted

the CWM file should be a .tar or .tar.md5 and you put it in PDA (never touch any of the other buttons except PIT), uncheck auto reboot box as well since you should have the battery in to flash with Odin... after it successfully flashes unplug the phone and pull the battery, then put the battery back in and hold volume up + home + power until 'Samsung' comes up then let go of power while holding the other buttons still until CWM comes up then flash superuser there

Hey guys bought my wife a g2x last week I thought I would put a rom on it for her its rooted and installed cwm so its time to put on a rom I am running stock 2.2 and noticed that most roms are gingerbread can I just flash on top of 2.2 or do I need to put on the gingerbread bootloaders some how first? Thanks

Just make sure you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed... and be sure to wipe everything before you install... Also, fix permissions after it's installed.
Ok so I don't need to upgrade to stilick gingerbread? And I'm sorry but what do you mean by permissions? Thanks alot

No, not unless you want the new baseband because I've yet to see a easy to apply it without the update. Could be wrong. And that's for you to decide, but the the baseband improved signal and gps response on my phone.

No flame but LOL @ this...
@bigdog736
Your post tells me nothing about whether or not you are rooted already.
Just in case you aren't, you need root access, and CWM installed.
I'll provide you with the links.
You'll need this tool to flash the root to your phone. It's called Odin.
Download here:
Odin Flashing Utility
Now download this ROM and flash it using Odin. It will root your device:
ED01 Stock Rooted
Now, download the CWM and flash it using Odin. This is the custom recovery:
CWM
Now, with root access, and CWM installed, you should not have any problems installing a new custom ROM.
You want GummyCharged 2.0? Well just to insure that you downloaded it from the right source, I will provide a link for that too:
GummyCharged 2.0
Again, if you are already rooted and have CWM installed, sorry for wasting your reading time. Your post just didn't give me ANY information, so I just assume that you aren't rooted.
i emailed the Superuser guys about a month ago with an issue where i would get constant notifications to update my superuser binary, no matter how many times i actually updated it, and they sent me a CWM zip to flash and try to fix the problem (new version of superuser). i flashed it and all went well. i've been having the same issue again so i thought "why not try the same thing" and flashed the zip but lost root somehow. so is there any way that i could just push the files for root? can that be done on a GB rom?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Sounds like the binaries in your kernel are outdated. Try flashing a new rooted kernel. If you're on GB try drhonks kj1
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
i figured a kernel flash would help so i did it (forgot to write that in the OP) and i flashed the kj1 but it didnt help
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I always had that problem everytime i updated superuser in the market and phone reboots it reports binaries out of date. It only happens to me when i update superuser, so trying leaving superuser alone and not update it.

This will flash everything. If that doesn't work... then I will post a video of me punching myself on youtube. (just kidding...)
But really, The one-click makes these "it doesn't work" or "I can't root" problems go away.
does it have to be heimdall flashed forbit to work? i flashed with cwm and the kernel flashed but i still dont have root
edit: heimdall flashed, still nothing

I read somewhere that you can flash su via cwm from a zip that its in the superuser page. might wanna check it out. Sorry if im wrong!
/me punches self in face.
So... Let me get this straight.
You ran the kj1 or kj6 (not the fully stock) one-click and you didn't have root at that point? Are you doing something after the one-click?

Sorry, not trying to be pushy, just really curious.
How do I unlock NAND on my Droid charge? I recently rooted my phone. I am new to all this. all seems to be working fine except i get an ocasional error saying "Write access for the system partition was not established on your device and therefore VM Heap Tool will have to be closed. Please make sure your device has NAND unlocked before you try again"
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Haska

Yeah don't. That ROM is pretty outdated. I would go with Infinity, Eclipse or TweakStock.

Don't do that. Eclipse or TweakStock only. Everything else is pretty outdated. And get PBJT for kernel.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
What were you doing when you got the error in the OP? I've never seen a popup error or even a logcat error showing that info before. Also, just because Infinity hasn't been updated doesn't necessarily mean it's outdated. It's still built off of the same base framework as every other ROM.
i have had my phone for a couple months and have been trying to root it i look on youtube for guides but this phone seems to be the odd ball.... its running on 2.3.4 and i have tried (superoneclick) and (unlockroot) and none seem to work. I have heard there is a way to do it by (ADB)? If thats the only way and thats how you are going to tell me how to do please explain this has been really hard for me. thank you.

Someone correct me if im wrong, but in order to root this phone you need to flash an already rooted ROM, you must use the nvflash link that was provided for you no matter what, and then once CWM is flashed, flash a ROM.
Hope this helped!

Super one click doesn't put cwm recovery on the phone if you want rooted stock kwes has one pre made flash through cwm easy as pie guys. I dont understand why you would want your phone rooted with no recovery installed. Just makes it harder to fix if you mess up
