Fingers crossed!!
Ed ur amazing it worked
i dont know if i wanna root it with supervision or guidance if u would hit me up via an IM that would be great but i owe u man
Basically you're now on a generic 1.21 WWE ROM. The next step is rooting and using a custom recovery to flash a custom ROM. Use unrEVOked (which is currently down due to a few bugs in the latest version) to root the phone and it also flashes a custom recovery so you can flash custom ROMs
Other way is to just get the 2.2 OTA update to be on official FroYo (you'd need a gold card if you have a branded Desire, mind) if you're not bothered about custom ROMs, etc...
Link to unrEVOked (keep checking to see if it's back up):

Whatever happened to the unrEVOked btw? What went wrong with the latest ver?
Apparently some HTC EVO users reported it bricking their phones so it's been taken down until the bugs are fixed...good thing if you ask me
I recently tried (foolishly) to do an OTA update from Eclair to Froyo on my rooted Desire and suddenly my device is stuck in a reboot cycle. I do have access to the stock recovery mode and fastboot seems to be working properly. I rooted using unrevoked3 and I don't know if it give me access to any custom recovery tools. I also do not have a goldcard, and as I understand it, I can't make one since I can't get adb up and running.
I have tried pretty much everything I can find that applies to my device, which isn't much since I seem to have some odd bootloader/radio specs which make all the ROMs and RUUs I can find not work. When I boot into fastboot or hboot, my device lists these specs:
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-WYNW0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Aug 10 2010,17:52:18
I can get to the recovery tool and try running update.zip, but I have only found one which gets past signature verification and then errors with a Status 2. I have also tried running the WWE RUUs from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 which will run once I give the device the "fastboot oem rebootRUU" command, but they all fail with a code 130 which means the device doesn't match. Also, the RUUs are all for a 1.1x or 1.2x revision and the loader says I have the 2.25.661.2 when it goes though the "are you sure" messages.
Is there anything else I can do to get this back up and running?
edit: An additional note, I have the SLCD screen which I know causes a bunch of issues since it uses a different driver than the AMOLED one and many of the ROMS, RUUs, etc. don't support it.
Hi tahosa,
I am suffering from the same issue but wondring if the Volume -/+ is working in your case or not, another observation that on the "SHIP S-ON" is this mean anything in locking or security issue?
my device gives :
BRAVO PVT3 S-ON
HBOOT-0.83.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.09.00.08
Jan 10 2010, 12:12:05
thanks, and I am also doing some research till find solution.... :s
Volume +/-
My volume buttons are working fine. I can navigate through all of the HBOOT and fastboot menus and get to the stock recovery menus. Any information you have would be awesome. I have been bashing my head against this problem for a couple weeks now and gotten nowhere.
Please try to check this link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7618995
In my case the volume is not worked :s
No change
Nope, the only image I could find linked from there fails with the same error as the RUU. I think it is mainly to do with the fact that my HBOOT version is higher than what everyone else seems to have.
When the image gets loaded during the HBOOT, it verifies just fine, but when it tries to run the device check, it errors with "Model ID incorrect!"
Fixed: Process
EDIT: I don't know how I overlooked this for so long, but since I did my root using unrevok3d I got clockworkmod recovery and a backup of my old image, which is probably why this method worked for me. These instructions may still hold if you are stock, but no guarantees.
I was able to fix my Desire using the following method:
You first need to identify which version of the software you device has using the HTC reflash tools. To do this, boot your device into FASTBOOT and connect it to USB. Start the fastboot tool and reboot it into the OEM RUU mode using "./fastboot oem rebootRUU". This brings you to the OEM reflash mode and you can run any of the available RUU tools from this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667. When you run them, they give you the version of the software on the device as well as what they are trying to overwrite with. Write down your software version if the first two groups don't match since you will most likely need a different version. From here, you can try running the update but it may fail. If it doesn't you should be all set.
If you can, find another one of the RUUs on the xda-developer page which matches your software version. Most of those link back to the shipped-roms page, but if you don't see yours on that list, look at http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bravo/ for the full list of Desire ROMs and RUUs. Mine happened to be the TELUS_WWE_2.25.661, which is a zip file. If the matching file is an exe, you have the HTC install tool, and can use the instructions above to flash it. If not, rename the .zip to update.zip and put it on your SD card and boot into HBOOT.
From HBOOT, choose recovery, and when you get to the black screen with the red error message press VOL-UP and POWER to get to the options and choose "Apply update.zip from SD Card." If everything matches, it will apply the update, and you should be able to boot up into a stock (or somewhat stock, mine was rooted) ROM for the Desire.
Let me know if this is confusing and I will rewrite it to be easier to follow.
Hi to all, i'm jauffre and i'm new in XDA. I have a problem and, as i searched all the forum without finding an answer, i need your help.
Last week i rooted my htc incredible s using the revolutionary tool, wich upgraded the hboot to 6.13.1002. i installed with the clockwork mod recovery tool a modded rom, and it was great. but sunday my phone crashed to the ground, and now the cover is broken (so i need to send it to the warranty).
i spent last day searching a guide for dummies to unroot the phone, and using the signed RUU (downloaded from this site) it appeared to work, but my htc is still s-off.
now, i know i need to downgrade the hboot, and i tried everything (i reinstalled froyo, updated the radio and then updgraded to 2.3.3), but this is still a problem.
please, help me!
Hey guys, this is the procedure i did to solve my problem. do it at your own risk.
first of all i must say that with this process i'll have the hboot back, but NOT the bootloader (so when you hold "volume back+power on" you will see the modded bootloader, not the stock one). i don't know how did you rooted your phone, what programs did you use, and i cannot assure you this procedure will work. if you're not sure, don't do anything.
first, you have to look for the original RUU of your phone (you can find it on this site). then follow this thread to find the rom.zip file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790022), where you can find several files. you need the android-info.txt and the hboot_xxx.img files.
open the hboot.img file with a text editor; in the first line you can find many strange symbols, and after that there will be a string of numbers (that is the hboot version).
you have to know what version of hboot have you currently on your phone (if you used the revolutionary tool, it will be probably 6.13.1002) and simply change the hboot.img string so that the release number is higher (than the modded hboot; i.e. you can write 7.09.0000).
after that you have to make a zip file with the android-info.txt and the hboot_xxx.img file you have just modified, and if you have an incredible s, call it "pg32img.zip".
if you have another device, simply you can turn on your phone in the bootloader mode, and if there's a memory card the device will look for a file, which name appears (it's the code you need).
then put that pg32img.zip file on the root of your sd card, reboot in bootloader mode (volume down+power) and follow the instructions to do the upgrade. after that, if you restart in bootloader, you'll see that the hboot version will be 7.09.0000 (the same you wrote) and will be s-on.
now, search and download the latest version of "superoneclick" (an application that should root and unroot your phone), and start it. link your phone to the pc and start the unroot process.
when it is done, simply leave your phone linked to the pc and start the RUU.exe file you downloaded. start the update process and if you have done everything good, at the end you'll have your phone with the stock hboot and the s-on.
i'm not a serious programmer, i simply was really lucky (i really didn't know if that could have worked) but i did it. i don't know how did you do the root, and how does the superoneclick work, so i am not responsible for any bricked phone.
if you are not sure, simply send your device to the htc assistance (better pay than have a new paperweight).
good luck
download superoneclick select unroot and uninstall the superuser app.Oh and download and flash your phone's stock rom
ok, thank you for the help!
there's a little problem: at the end of the superone process it says me "superuser not found", so it can't be deleted.
so i remade the root (using superone) and unrooted; then installed the RUU, but nothing: it's still s-off. what can i do now?
i tried to make superoneclick work, but with no success... although i have installed the superuser.apk, the program still says me there's no SU, and can't unroot my device.
Any suggestions?
ok guys, i did it...
first i remade the root process, and flashed the superuser.apk. then i wanted to "upgrade" the hboot, from 6.13.1002 (revolutionary) to 7.13.0000 (simply i changed the 1 to 7 opening the hboot signed image with a text editor). then i launched superoneclick, and started the unroot process. at the end, i launched the signed htc RUU with gingerbread, and now i have my htc incredible s with s-on and hboot 1.13.0000.
=)
the last thing: does someone know hot to put the original htc bootloader?
cant someone build a uniform high performance rom
i added a guide to do the process go to the first post and read it all
thanks for the guide, just one confusion here, that after putting the pd****.img into the sdcard, i need to goto bootloader right? (not recovery)
Edit: worked in first attempt . Just one suggestion if you can replace word "Recovery" with "Bootloader" inorder to avoid confusion for other users
thank you fshami! i just corrected the guide
Hi I just tried following the guide posted on the first post using the android-info.txt and the hboot_xxx.img files received by the OTA update released recently as well as one downloaded from the net "OTA_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_hTC_Asia_India_2.12.720.5-1.36.720.1_release_190041sn70bk4icw74exvv"
On both occasions the bootloader update failed.
I am unable to install the OTA update. This has been downloaded quite a few times already and the phone just hangs with the android logo screen.
P.S. My phone is an Incredible S purchased legally in India around June 2011.
Thanks.
then put that pg32img.zip file on the root of your sd card, reboot in bootloader mode (volume down+power) and follow the instructions to do the upgrade. after that, if you restart in bootloader, you'll see that the hboot version will be 7.09.0000 (the same you wrote) and will be s-on.
Sorry my friend , but this don´t work....
Sorry.....
I thought this is what I was searchinf for years but...What if I have an USB issue? Like usb brick? So I cant connect my htc with the pc x.x for superoneclick
Hi Guy's and Gall's
For some reason I can't get my HTC sensation to S-off, I am not new to android or rooting Android phones ( Huwei pulse , HTC wildfire , Htc disire HD, samsung NC110 on 2.3 duel boot with wifi) But this one has got me stuck
I have searched and searched on the net for other solutions/fix's and just find the same methods and no solution.
This is where it all stops every time! ( straight of the bat basically )

I have had 1 OTA and Unlocked bootloader via HTC dev method, I can re-lock and Un-lock nothing makes a difference.
I have the Drivers, ADB, etc, ( and have deleted and re-installed )Factory reset also makes no difference in the outcome, the process stops at the same point ( above) and the time it takes also remains the same regardless of what I do.
I would Like to get access to the root folder to remove the T-Mob and other annoying apps and perhaps in future run a custom rom.
Any one who can help Please?? What am I doing wrong??
Thanks in advance...

Lucky for you I found this same problem yesterday and figured it out lol.
Hope this works......
1) Get to the part where you have to enter in the beta key but don't hit enter yet.
2) On your phone go to settings/connect to PC/Charge only
3) On your phone again go to settings/applications/development/USB debugging and check the box.
4) Hit enter on your computer and see what happens.

Thank you for your help.
Thanks Guy's for you help so far,
I have tride most of your sugestions and I re-installed the htc driver and ADB/fastboot last night.
Then I thought I would do yet another factory reset..... and have another go, But I got a surprise oem recovery is dead??? and so is the factory reset??? both give me a white HTC screen, and this lasts for 1 hour or forever or till I remove the battery. I had not noticed this before.
After I pull the battery the phone will reboot and work as normal. so not bricked yet
Do I now need to re install recovery or ???
Help is much appreciated as I would like to get the thing S-Off before the ICS OTA update arrives, Tho I will probably not get the update till I fix the recovery issue.
For you followers, I have just ( finally )received the OTA update to ICS It is installing as I type.
My location is the south of Holland, My phone is the sensation and network provider is T-Mobile NL.
Just thought I should let you know.
Now once this is installed I will start reading about getting the phone rooted.
Final Solution
Go for Tacoroot method..it works...dont worry abt bricking and all..
search tacoroot method...(tricky process)it gives temporary root access...
then do Revolutionary S-off...it definitely works...
Install 4ext recovery
install Superuser...
install suitable firmware
insatall rom...
You might go into bootloops but dont panic...installing ROM will take care of that..
Ping me for any doubts...INDIA
Go ahead and ROOT...life becomes Awesome after that...

if you wnat to enjoy custom roms and all dont do OTA ICS update
as it will update your bootloader to 1.27 with S-ON
and there is currently no solution/tool to S-OFF with H-BOOT 1.27
so i strongly advise you to stay out of it
for your previous HBOOT (i presume its 1.18) there is solution..
you need to use tacoroot to do a temp-root then follow the revolutionary
there is a guide for that
search for it

Hey Guys.
Due to the lack of simple NOOB Guides I've decided to make one for all the noobs out there.
(Including me. The amount of help I needed was unimaginable!)
This is the way I gained root and S-OFF. I thought I would help others by telling them my own method.
I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR A BRICKED PHONE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
STEP 1 - Unlocking the Bootloader.
Visit - www.htcdev.com and pick the Sensation that YOU have.
Here's how you can find out which Sensation you have.
Sensation 4G (T-Mobile) will have a 'customised' T-Mobile case saying 'T-Mobile' in the corner.
Sensation - Vodafone - Will have come with 'branded' firmware. (Vodafone symbol comes up when booting up phone.) Another way of spotting is having random apps. e.g. Music Store.
Sensation (Normal) - Pretty self-explanatory. No symbol when starting up phone, no apps just plain and simple.
REMEMBER TO CHECK USB DEBUGGING
Once you have chosen your correct phone follow the steps for unlocking the bootloader.
When you have completed all the steps on www.htcdev.com you will notice that when you hold 'power' and 'volume down' it says:
***UNLOCKED***
Which obviously means you have unlocked the bootloader.
STEP 2 - Gaining 'S-OFF'
Follow juopunutbear's guide on gaining S-OFF here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617
I know - using a paperclip? Trust me, worth every bit of time. If it doesn't work then try and try again.
When you've gained 'S-OFF' you should notice that when you hold 'power' and 'volume down' it says:
***UNLOCKED***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT: 1.27.0000 S-OFF
Which is great!
STEP 3 - Flashing a new recovery
REMEMBER TO CHECK USB DEBUGGING
The way I flashed a new recovery was extremely quick and easy:
Download this AMAZING Tool-Kit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497404
All credit goes to hansoon2000!
Power on your phone.
Check you have USB DEBUGGING Enabled.
Plug your phone into your computer.
Make sure you have drivers enabled. (Unlocking the bootloader should of made you download 'HTC SYNC' for the drivers.)
UN-INSTALL HTC SYNC.
Unplug your phone from the usb cable so it enables you to power off.
Hold 'power' and 'volume down' and press power on 'FASTBOOT'
You've entered FASTBOOT.
Plug the USB Cable back into the phone.
Do not touch anything on the phone.
Go onto your computer and open up the HTC ALL IN ONE KIT.
In the top right-hand corner you will see a list of recoveries.
Click 4-EXT.
I've done a picture to help in attachments.
Your phone will go through numerous screens etc. but don't worry! It's flashing your new recovery! So long stock recovery!
When it has finished remember to check if it has worked!
When it has then congrats! Now onto root...
STEP 4 - Gaining Root
REMEMBER TO CHECK USB DEBUGGING
Use the All-in-One-Kit that you downloaded earlier for flashing the recovery to gain root. Read the instructions below.
Assuming you're doing this straight after the last step then you will not need to enter fastboot again, etc.
If not read through the last step again until OPENING THE HTC ALL IN ONE KIT.
This time in the bottom right hand corner you should see perm-root.
SEE ATTACHMENTS FOR A PICTURE.
Click it and let the program install Superuser and gain root access.
You should see SuperUser installed!
If all goes well then Congrats! You have successfully rooted and S-OFF'd your phone.
Now! Who wants a nice new ROM!?
Check this thread by walidhazem for a list of every ROM being developed for the Sensation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613295
Hit thanks if I helped, this post took a lot of time and effort!

after SOFF ..either the person wll have LOCKED hboot or Juopunutbear HBOOT (if he said yes to eng-hboot after soff is done) but no way it stays UNLOCKED
also after doing HTC-DEV unlock and before doing SOFF ..the person should have ROOT too (actually juopunutbear requires root access only which then can be granted via HTC-DEV unlock only )
ROOT is a per-requisite to SOFF
and to just root ..no need to have recovery (unless the guy wants to flash some custom roms) ..he/she can use my one click root tool ..link in my signature (works if the guys just have HTC-DEV unlock too )
and lastly ..there are enough guides already i think ..auggie2k soff guide (which you have linked ) covers the standard SOFF process which has HTC-DEV unlock ..and my guide covers NON HTC-DEV method of SOFF
and for root ..my guide covers it and there is a old guide by VIPERX i believe covers rooting by flashing su zip, also kgs aio tool and hansoons tool covers them too
just my 2 cents here

i like to do s-off without htcdev.com unlock bootloader method but in my laptop only usb 3.0 ports are there.so will the s-off fail i use the usb 3.0 port.
for installing rom i need s-off only or requires rooting also?

i think with usb 3.0 ports it won't work but i 'm not totally sure
for installing roms you can do it also with S-ON but requires root.see here

I was using a method which was in Bahasa (INA), its also similar to your guide, but for ROOT, thats the different. It looks like using old method. But the final result is SuperUser app.

did you got the phone back from repair and motherboard got changed ?
then HTC-DEV unlock might not work
you should try SOFF non HTC-DEV one ...guide link in my signature
On the verge of giving up...
Ok I have followed this guide, looked at multiple others and tried a variety of restarting, uninstalling, re-installing and a myriad of other methods to get this to work and now I really am starting to become frustrated. I wouldn't class myself as someone who is a complete noob, I did manage to root my HTC Desire so I have some understanding of the whole framework, however, I am a noob to these forums so be gentle please
I have a HTC Sensation, I have managed to unlock the bootloader using htcdev guide, I have also managed to flash the touch version of ClockworkMod. Now comes the problem of S-off, the guide that you link too says that you must be rooted before attempting, so I scrolled down and read your method on how to root. I can not find the 4-EXT in the recovery list so I got the touch ClockworkMod, now I don't know exactly what the difference is between these and nothing comes up in the "Attachment Thumbnail."
So my problem here, running Windows Vista 32 bit, I plug in my Sensation, USB debugging enables, open the HTC One X All-In-One Kit and highlight "Perm Root (GB/ICS)". Click Run and so my phone boots up into ClockworkMod, now this is where the problem begins, my laptop then starts looking for "MTP Device" driver and just keeps searching, never finds it and never stops until I unplug it. When I unplug it or restart the phone, the little pop up states "MTP Device installed" however it hasn't because it stills says "Searching preconfigured driver folders". Now the problem with this is that when I start the rooting process on the Command Prompt it just tells me there is an error and it can't find the device.
Now I have tried uninstalling the htc drivers, unistalling other drivers, restarting the laptop, the phone, factory reset the phone, all sorts. So if someone could please shine some light on this for me because I can't see where I'm going wrong with this. Just to add some factors in case they matter, my phone is UK branded from the company "3" it has the 3 logo when it boots up an various 3 apps on the phone. Much appreciated from anyone who can help me with this, I will use the "Thank" button to all those who answer with a valid point so please, any ideas would be grateful.

i totally lolled at the bold sentence of your post

ditch the HTC-ONE-X-TOOL completely its for ONE-X
the same dev made a sensation all in one tool kit too ..its one of sticky thread in sensation development section
anyways as you just need root
use my one click root ...link in my signature (you just need to have drivers installed ..if you dont have drivers check in per-requisites section )
thats all
also you can use kgs super utility for root too ..its a sticky in sensation development section too
Problems with Step 2 - HELP!
Hi Guys,
Im having significant trouble getting through the below instructions - im completely new to this so apologies if i have missed something obvious!#
I have completed step 1 of this without any issues and can see my HTC Sensation is *** UNLOCKED ***. However, i dont seem to be able to complete step 2 point 2 successfully.
Id appreciate an idiots guide to completing step 2.2 onwards if someone could oblige? With special focus on 2 - Restore to Stock 3.32 Rooted ROM & 3 - Flash boot.img from Stock 3.32 Rooted ROM in Fastboot.
Cheers!

Hey Guys.
Due to the lack of simple NOOB Guides I've decided to make one for all the noobs out there.
(Including me. The amount of help I needed was unimaginable!)
This is the way that I found out just by pure luck.
The way I gained perm-root was pretty amazing.
Download this AMAZING Tool-Kit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497404
All credit goes to hansoon2000!
Power on your phone.
Check you have USB DEBUGGING Enabled.
Plug your phone into your computer.
Make sure you have drivers enabled. (Unlocking the bootloader should of made you download 'HTC SYNC' for the drivers. UN-INSTALL HTC SYNC.)
Unplug your phone from the cable so it enables you to power off.
Hold 'power' and 'volume down' and press power on 'FASTBOOT'
You've entered FASTBOOT.
Do not touch anything.
The way I gained perm-root was pretty amazing.
Download this AMAZING Tool-Kit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497404
All credit goes to hansoon2000!
Sense 4 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671547&page=430
Best ROM (In my opinion): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
Hit thanks if I helped, this post took a lot of time and effort!
