I'm back, baby!
Sorry for letting you all down insofar as you've relied on me for porting the stock updates to CWM-friendly versions. So to catch up, here's the 3 OTAs US users need to get current. On the off chance Asus updates our transformer tf101 any more, I'll mod those as well.
It's been a while since my previous update, so I assume that most of you are on the latest stock ROM by now, or have jumped ship to a custom ROM. If you'd like a cwm-friendlified version of a stock ROM for a non-US device, let me know and provide your dlpkgfile.
These are stock updates repackaged for Clockwork mod.
This update DOES NOT:
* Root your device if it's not already rooted
* Install clockworkmod
* Install at all if you aren't rooted
* Install at all if you don't already have clockworkmod.
* Install at all if you are on a custom ROM.
This update has:
* Clockworkmod support (It does not include CWM, but doesn't reflash the recovery partition either)
* Rooted (includes SuperUser.apk & su 3.1.3)
* No longer contains Busybox. Use Jrummy's Busybox installer.
This will not work unless you have:
1. clockworkmod
2. STOCK firmware (root is fine)
3. the US or WW or TW firmware, whichever the file requires.
4. The appropriate prerequisite firmware (e.g. the latest firmware before this update)
If this update will not apply, take note of which assert stopped the process. You probably applied some sort of mod to your transformer.
Your firmware/locale not listed? Send me your dlpkgfile and I'll add it.

FAQ
Q. Will my non-stock/custom/tweaked ROM work?
A. Probably not!
Q. I get an assert error about a file ending in .ko, what's wrong?
A. You replaced your kernel, didn't you? Put the original kernel and kernel modules back and try again. Put all the .ko files back, it will error out on the other ones too.
Q. I get an assert error about a file ending in apk or odex, what's wrong?
A. You replaced a bundled app, didn't you? Netflix is a big culprit here. You need the original apk and odex back.
Q. After I updated to this firmware, X doesn't work! Help!
A. Hold on there, friend. If the update works and you see the new version number after reboot, then my involvement is all done. Your problem is either imaginary or with the stock rom. Search for an existing thread with your question. If you don't find one, search again. If you still don't, then post a thread in the appropriate forum.
Q. Why haven't you been updating?
A. I don't know! But thanks for all the PMs. It's nice to feel loved.
Is it possible to have WW version too? Thx
+1 for WW version....
Thanks daoist,
Has anyone have a copy of the last version of Music2.odex? I've long since for some reason done away with it.
Also, what is the proper way to blow away the patch check and apply for a single thing like music.odex, and then rezip it so that it is recognized as valid?
Thanks,

Never Mind:: I didn't realize I was a level off (1 too high) on rezipping, so it works fine now.
Note: Just in case anyone else needs to remove lines from updater-script and repackage, don't make my mistake. At first I had repackaged from a level above so that I wound up with the first thing visible in the .zip file being kwt-cwm-*18, rather than all the stuff inside of it. That causes an update error immediately, so I just moved down and only rezipped the files inside the first folder.
Thanks much -
Why is this file smaller than the one that Asus pushed?

The one asus pushed has a blob file which will overwrite the recovery partition (e.g. it will remove clockworkmod). In order to keep cwm, the SOS recovery partition is removed from this update.
If you have a WW transformer and wouldn't mind being a guinea pig, try this update:

Hi
Just being a bit of a noob here; How do I apply the update?
I'm on a Transformer WW-version
Just copy the file to /sdcard/update.zip??
Root Access Is Denied
I installed the update without issue and double checked root which was working. Now, after a few hours later my root access is denied. I haven't changed anything. Any ideas?

Thought it was an update that I did to Superuser, I uninstalled the update, rebooted and no luck. I'm going to attempt to reflash the update from this post.
---------- Post added at 09:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:37 AM ----------
Well that didn't work at all. I attempted then to update superuser through superuser but it was denied. Not sure how this all happened, maybe it was the market update to superuser.
Unless there are any ideas I may go back and re-root using the Toolkit.
---------- Post added at 10:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:54 AM ----------
So I redid the root toolkit. Everything installed exactly as it should but root anything is still denied. I'm not going to blame this update but I'll try and get to the bottom of this and report back just in case it happens to anyone else.
---------- Post added at 10:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:17 AM ----------
Ok, got my root back. I redid everything then redid the Asus firmware update. Wow, odd. Well anyways if anyone loses it you may have to go back and re-root with Toolkit (if that is what you used) and reinstall the update from this thread.
So not sure if this is the correct method but I changed the way I installed it. I did Toggle Script Assert on and then installed as opposed to just a standard install zip from SD card. So if I've missed instructions anywhere and this post was a big waste I'm sorry.

Assuming you have root, you have to remount /system rw, and then chmod 4755 /system/xbin/asus-backup
Sorry if this has been covered but I cannot figure it out.
I'm trying to install this update but I'm getting an assert error I cannot get past.
error message
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/AWS.apk".
I did uninstall Asus webstorage before so I went to the app store and installed it from there but I'm still getting the same error. I have searched the web but cannot find AWS.apk to download and install or drop in that folder.
Any idea how to get past this other than restoring my system?
Thanks
Hello Guys!
Today is my second day with this wonderful device. It´s really awesome, I played with her all day and started trying new things.
I rooted my Xoom, installed new Apps and I wanted to install a new theme, which I found here.
The description said that I have to copy the files on a micoSDCard, which I dont have. No Problem! SSHDroid -> Win.
Well..at least..that´s what I though. I couldnt acess the systemfolder.
I copied all the files in the SSHDroidfolder and transfered them with RootManager to the right folders - copy and paste.
After I pasted one app in the system/appFolder the Xoom freezed with an errormessage and the bar with the three buttons disappered on the next boot.
Than I tried the factoryreset, but I´ve got the same problem.
What should I do?
Reflash the device with the system.img and boot.img with fastboot. With that said it will take you a bit to find the correct system.img and boot.img for your device. Then you will have to learn to use fastboot. To me if your going to play these are the necessary tools you need to learn to use. BTW you might not need the boot.img but it can't hurt.
---------- Post added at 02:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:07 PM ----------
or if you don't want stock you can flash CWM recovery (using fastboot) and then wipe the device and flash a ROM from the Development section.
It´s working now (with Android 3.01) - thank you very much!
DominusD.
Now I try to figure out how to install tiamat without a SDCard..
if you do not have a sdcard yet, install rogue recovery, then you can backup, install... from the internal ssd

Would also be very interested to learn of your progress. Not a bad device for the price, but screen resolution is a bit odd. Would be nice to have root to change that.

Successful root sumvision cyclone voyager 7"
Hi all,
i recently bought one of these little powerhouses but HAD to root it. Seeing as there were no obvious instructions on these forums (that I could find) i hunted down some stuff and figured out a solution.
Please note that I am NOT responsible for the programming of ANY of the stuff here, i have just collected it into a guide for others who wish to make use of it...
FIRST i downloaded PDANet from https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s74jc6nn66vyc95/CU0xp5M4F5/PdaNet.zip because i knew that it would install the required drivers for the rooting. I suggest you do the same as its about 98% accurate in installing drivers for most android devices.
SECOND i downloaded TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.rar from http://www.mediafire.com/download/vd3y1rld2amdxq5/TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.rar. I extracted all the files in the archive to a folder on my desktop for easy access...
Now i followed the instrustions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127573
Now my tablet is fully and successfully rooted.
Important points to note are:
There will be no SU Governor app installed - Grab SuperSU from Google Play
You will need to wait between reboots until the tablet has COMPLETELY restarted, I recommend leaving 5 mins before pressing space to advance to the next step.
You may need to reboot your PC if your tablet can't be found by the script. I stumbled on this step without realising it was something SO SIMPLE to sort!
FINALLY i recommend installing the "full!screen" app from GooglePlay - it will help remove the annoying bar at the bottom of your tablet's screen and makes it much easier to use (and possibly faster as its not constantly re-sizing stuff for a strange resolution screen?) Find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.tsorn.FullScreen&hl=en
I think i covered anything, would love to hear your feedback!
Very thanks man

You're welcome, hope it works for you, let me know how you get on!
May also need to add a line somewhere.
I tried many things in and around this thread and other related threads on here relating to the Cyclone Voyager BT 10.1" and still ended up with a blank "List of devices attached" until I got it work by adding the line:
0x2207 (Fuzhou Rockchip Electronics Co., Ltd.)
into the adb_usb.ini file in the .android folder of my Windows home folder.
That comes from yarvik support forum and is meant to work for a Xenta tablet, but what the hey, sometimes you've got to follow your intuition.
I may have done many other things which may have affected the behaviour, but it wasn't until that line went in that everything burst into life.
Once adb says it has a device connected then it's just a matter of choice to either use Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry or SuperOneClick. I think it took a combination of the two to finally get the 10.1" tablet rooted, but either way, rooted it is.

Hide root?
Sorry to hijack this post but it seems you may have gone some way to answering a question I have.
I am trying to use the SkyGo app with my Cyclone Voyager, but the app won't work on Rooted devices. However I haven't rooted the device, it comes that way out of the box.
I have tried using apps such as Hidemyroot and SuperSU to hide the root but none of them are compatible it seems to me. Is there a way of removing the files that show as rooted or hiding them?
many thanks

I had just received a fresh new Galaxy SIII from Asurion and eagerly rooted and flashed my favorite AOSP ROM and found out my camera wasn't working. I search through these forums like a mad man trying to find a solution and I tried EVERYTHING but then I read someone's reply to troubleshooting and I admit I may have been overlooking the wording in some of these guides as to the path of my camera files but I fixed it and I want to share my findings so someone who is having a similar issue can get it fixed too. I'm also going to add the methods that didn't work but may work in other cases.
This fix ultimately replaces bad or missing firmware files. If you haven't tried Odin back to stock, re-rooting, or wiping data and getting a fresh start, I would recommend that first. This is more or less if sh** hits the fan.

***MY FIX (Old Way)***
Download any TouchWiz based ROM to your phone or computer.

Goto /system/cameradata and copy all the SlimISP files to your phone.
Goto /data and there should be another SlimISP bin file, copy that but don't mix it up.
Move these to the files to the corresponding areas of your phone.
Check permissions, I granted full access to Root, and User
Start the camera app and cross your fingers
Reboot if it didn't work immediately
I recommend keeping a copy of these on your ExtSD if you have one because you will have to do this if you flash a new ROM.

My mother got (against my advices..) a chinese Yuntab E706 tablet. She has been using it for a while, but she started noticing abnormal popups, installed apps etc.
Tried running Avast and Malwarebytes that found some PUPs. two of them found by avast kept on being reactivated on reboot. Malwarebytes found this:
Android/PUP.Riskware.SilentInst.a in /system/priv-app/Xfota/Xfota.apk
Suggesting me to remove it: impossible, because it was a system app called "Online Update"! So it suggested to disable it: neither this option was available!
So I tried wiping cache and restore to factory setting.
After that, I tried firing up again Malwarebytes and voilà, it found the same malware, again in "Online Update" app. Also android marks this, in notification bar, as potentially harming for the devices, suggesting to disable it. The button disable doesn't work, though the app is listed under disabled app. Also Malwarebytes says it is disabled and could not do harm; I'm worried anyway about all this story, what should I do? The tablet is not rooted anyway.
Thanks everyone in advance!
try these tricks
Nice one. I feel ur pain. 1st u must find & do everything possible to root the phone. Then once rooted successfully via Kingroot and sorts. Download rootuninstaller, titaniumbackup or 3c toolbox pro to force remove the virus after granting root access.
Alternatively, u can boot into safe mode by preesing power button to display power options, then press-holding the "power off" option to reveal "boot into safe mode" which when booted into allows you to undo changes done by apps that can damage your phone.
Pls feel free to ask questions.
Gud luck!

1st try to find out ur processor type, whether it's qualcomm, or mtk or powervr, or whatever. try gsmarena.com to check ur fone's specs or manufacturer's website. knowing fone's processor type make choice of rooting process easier.
well most china fones meant for international market ought to be mtk
try latest version of kingroot apk app[requires internet] in rooting d fone
And if fone is "mtk", we can use mtkdroidtool pc app & spflashtool pc app to create scatter file & extract, from d fone, the boot.img & recovery.img which can both be used to create a twrp custom recovery tailored specifically for ur fone.
pls try all these out diligently & give feedback.
best of luck!
P.S.
i actually found out the fone is mtk i.e. mt83321; dwnld & install out latest kingroot apk on ur fone with internet connection
then head over to http://www.theandroidhow.com/2014/05/how-to-make-backup-stock-boot-recovery.html?m=0, read those instructions carefully, download the required softwares and get the processes started.
best of luck!
@HellFire90
BTW, xfota is not malware it's the Over The Air updater used by some Chinese phones, that said it pretty much behaves like malware so I'd say it is.
I don't know how to root your device but if that nonroot method I posted works then you don't have to. Be wary of root apps, some will be worse than your current problem… especially if from some random website.
i've decided to help u all the way & i've created assortment of files for u to download. First head to https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0BygHnAHGWWirc1JKZWdFUWZGR2M&export=download, and download and extract the zip file. Then read the read_me_1st.txt, and get back to me.
@HellFire90
Kingroot is one of the most effective rooting apps but it comes with adware! Also I have doubts about just what info is sent back to China so I've never used it. See the XDA thread about it, they suggest replacing it with supersu after rooting or whatever, I can't remember exactly,

In my gdrive attachment above u find my careful assortment of softwares, files & folder hand-picked by me.
1st install all android usb drivers [those .inf files] from Computer Management, and then Device Drivers.
Those install all necessary adb driver from the adb software and folders.
My solution with Total Commander [with adb plugin, and provided those adb drivers&usb drivers are installed] allows u to access the entire file system of ur android without root access(i'm still currently using this method on my PC) to edit root directories and access phone's internal memory.
Pls give it a try and give me ur feedbacks.
Enjoy!

And if neither of the afore mentioned methods work there's also the following one, that works on some phones that my first method does not eg S8 ,(not sure if swizzy's method will work on all phones so posting this just in case)
