[Q] Turn Off BackLight Notification for Emails? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using the BLN with LED notify on CM7. When I get a email notification, my backlight lights up. How can I stop this? I don't want the back light for the buttons to light up.

You can turn off notifications in the emails settings menu, but then you'll not get any notification of any kind. BLN lights up for any and all notifications, there is not currently a way to set it to be selective. You might want to pm the developer to suggest this ability.

BLN Problems Nexus 4g NS4G Look Here!!! FIXED?

For all people using the Nexus S 4g (NS4g) that cant get Back light notification (BLN) Working this is what I have done for it to work.
You must be rooted and must flash Netarchy Kernel for the 2.3.4. Im using 1.3.2
CFS Stock. I am also on the Stock Rom.
First of all you should be able to use any version of the BLN Control APP. Do not try and use the "Test Section" of the BLN Control APP because it will not work and it will discourage you lol.
If you want a quick test just go to "Activate BLN" on the BLN Control APP and then close the app. Press the power button on your phone so that the screen is off. Go on your home computer and send your self an email to your Gmail. Once you receive the email your lights should glow (Blink if you have the Pro Version)
Now if you are using the Stock SMS app just turn your notifications on and as long as the screen is off when you receive your notification your lights should glow (Blink if you have the Pro Version)
If you are using another SMS program such as Handcent of GO SMS there are some options you will need to tweak.
I am using GO SMS. GO to settings, Notification Settings, enable notifications and then go to default notification settings, under screen settings UNCHECK where it says SCREEN ON.
Then go down to LED Settings. Make sure BLINK LED is checked. You also may want to enable reminders just in case you turn your screen on.
NEGATIVES ABOUT THIS MOD: Once the screen is turned on the glow or blinking will stop until you get another notification. Also if your screen was already on when you receive your notification it will not blink or glow when your screen automatically turns off. Also if you have another notification in another program that turns on the screen your glow will not work. Keep these in mind.
If anyone knows how to fix these issues please let me know.
Thanks. That certainly saved me some time (though I still wasted some on the 'test' feature ).

[Q] Disable all led notifications in airplane mode

Hello, I'm using an Atrix 4G device, and I'm loving it; especially the fingerprint lock and the fact that (however its age) it is still a well-performing device.
My question: is it possible to disable all led notifications when in airplane mode? I have found the setting > display > led notifications, so I'm able to turn this off myself, but I would like to disable all led notifications when in airplane mode. For example: when the phone is charged, it will give a green led notification.
I find this annoying, since I merely use 'airplane mode' when trying to sleep and the led wakes me up.
Thanks in advance!

BLN and popup

It is a well known performance in Android OS
that after a notification popup is shown
-if the screen lightens and the phone gets unlocked-
every bln lights (blinking or not) turn off once the screen turns off.
On GB, once I obtained -don't remember through which means-
the effect of lights staying on after the screen turned off.
I cannot repeat the experience in any means, nor on ICS neither in JB.
So to sum up, I need to have the screen on and unlocked
in order eventually to read notifications and/or popups texts (sms, whatsapp, etc.)
and notwithstanding this I would the lights to turn off ONLY when i remove manually the notification from the status bar, and not when the screen goes dark.
Any hint?

I almost think that's how it worked on gb. That's all I have.

EDIT:
I gave up and choose not to let the popup unlock the phone.
So I expected the lights to stay on .
I've just discovered that
notwithstanding the fact I set BLN static led to on (or its timeout to on for 23 hs),
after some minutes lights turn off.
Once again: anybody has any idea how to have infinite static lights notification?
EDIT 2: for the lights themselves to stay always on (no popup), try last Bedalus... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34006635&postcount=5244
You can't have both.

Clear. Even if on GB I could.
Who can think about a turnaround?
And what about the lights turning off after a while even if options are set to the opposite?
As i remember, bedalus explained that there are some codes in ics and Jelly bean that prevents that bln is on until you dismiss or read notif. It cant be changed. So, deal with it or go back to gb.

default notifications? ie: Led and vibration?

what are the default notifications for this phone...coming from a S5 where it was long vibrate/blue led for gmail, short vibrate/green led for text, and double vibate/i think pink led for facebook
shouldnt it be the same on the note since its lollipop?
i could of sworn gmail did the long vibrate when i first set up the phone but now it does double vibrate and i keep thinking it's facebook...is there a way to change it without lightflow?
i tried making a custom vibrate patter in system settings but gmail still double vibration
thanks!
I'm too ADD to have noticed anything you mentioned above. I always thought all notifications are the same. Either you're real astute or you have way too much time on your hands lol.

No notifications?

I haven't been receiving any notifications over the last few days, whether its email/text or whatever, the phone doesn't vibrate/sound like normal, just a quick split second vibration but no notification led or sound. Nothing shows up in the status bar either, but if i go into the app i can see the new email or text.
What's going on? Haven't seen an issue like this before.
Never mind, i must of disabled led blinker pro notifications for some reason, works now.
