Trying to root my Inspire for the first time using Bubby's SuperOneClick method.
However, I am getting an error message during the install telling me "Main Version is old! Update Fail!"
If anyone has had this same problem or knows of a way to fix this and continue the rooting process it'd be much appreciated!
Thanks!
I don't think its updated and won't root gingerbread if you're on it so you'll have to use the hack kit

You could also use the DHD downgrade folder I would post the thread but I can't for some reason you can search its floating around this forum somewhere

Update: After searching for a new way to root with GB installed, I need a lil help on which method is best to go about rooting. Thanks in advance.
I recently rooted my inspire with bubbys one click tool. I cant boot into recovery and would like to just unroot my phone. If someone could please post a tutorial on how to achieve S-ON and flash the stock RUU and not just post a link to a tutorial because every one that i have followed has failed me, that would be great. Bubbys S-ON tool has not worked for me. If it matters, i have a PC. Thanks in advance. please help me from this to this
Use gene pools inspire factory reset s/on tool located in the development forum. It works really well and is easy to use.

Just flash a superuser.zip files through CWM Recovery and you're rooted.
If what the person before me said doesn't work try looking up the thread that's says " how to flash ics with s-on" after u do that process right you'll gain root access. Because I was in the same situation with you and couldn't gain root. But that worked.

I'm sort of having the same issue... Where do you get superuser.zip? Is there a specific one we need? And can I just flash it then right away flash a rom?
Thanks

Hey. I have been browsing the forum and looking for a solution about how to downgrade hboot in order to do http://revolutionary.io/ and then install the newest Radio.
I read in a topic that these guides should work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443636
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18122984&postcount=237
Could anyone approve if it's possible or give a suggestion how to do it right?
If you have root already, then you can miss out the steps to get temproot in the first guide, and start with copying misc_version to the phone. I don't think the second guide is useful in this case.
Edit: in other words, you don't need tacoroot

I was thinking about it the same way. Thanks for the advice.
Hello I'm ending if anyone can give me some detailed steps on getting root back after upgrading to 2.3.5. I've seen one post with instructions, but when it comes to rooting an HTC device, I get nervous. I just want to use my Wi-Fi tethering again, so would I just need to unlock my bootloader using HTCdev and install CWM? Do I downgrade?
Someone please help me out.

How did you root it the first time, AAHK or HTCDEV? If you used AAHK you might still be S-OFF; just flash a recovery and flash a rooted ROM. If you used HTCDEV I advise that you use AAHK this time around. Google "attn1 aahk" to find it. You will need to downgrade; it's in the Kit.

I used AAHK. I'll try it again, I just kept reading that it wasn't working anymore
