I installed Boot Animation Changer and i have checked the other 4 posts. But i un-installed it and went back to changing the boot animation manually. Except the /system/media/bootanimation.zip is not been used upon booting. i think the program has told the phone to look elsewhere for the animation file and i cannot find where the phone is looking for the animation file. Any help will be great.
Tried a quick search, but couldnt find anything that really helped. I installed ApeX a while ago, and got tired of my boot. I installed the pro boot animation, found here, but I want the stock startup shutdown sounds enabled again. How could I do this? Ive tried editing build.prop as suggested by birdman at alldroid, and tried putting android_audio.mp3 in the data/local folder. Im not a total noob, but I was hoping someone has experience with this.
EDIT: Finally got the startup sound to work, but no shutdown sound still. Any ideas?

You have to edit desc.txt in the bootanimation zip to match the apex sound file name and extension.
The droid pro bootanimation you installed most likely calls for "droid.ogg" for the sound, you need to change it to call for (let's say the apex sound is called apex.mp3), well, you need to change desc.txt to call for "apex.mp3" instead of "droid.ogg". Make sure you put "apex.mp3" in the correct location system/media.
LOCATIONS OF SOUNDS AND ANIMATIONS [WIP]
From what I have found, this is the best list I have...
.qmg(animations) .Wav (MP3)
Before you start make sure that you have root obviously
Using root explorer and making sure that write protect off
Add .bak to the end of file to keep it from running...
You can use any Mp3 just change the file name from .mp3 to .wav on the phone
Boot sound;
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav
Boot up animation;
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
/system/bin/samsungani
Charging animations(power off);
/system/media/battery_charging_XXX.qmg
Shutdown sound;
/system/media/audio/ui/shutdown.ogg
Shutdown video (directory of .qmg);
/system/media/shutdown/
"The binary file for stock boot animations is /system/bin/samsungani as an FYI"

Thank you-Imoseyon! [EP1Q] GB Kernel W/Custom boot animation support! http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php...on-kernel-(leaked-stock-repacked-v0.22-9-4-11)
and everyone else that helped me compile this list
I hope this is a help anyone that needs to find these, and if there are changes to be made just post, and I will edit to correct.
You can delete the shutdown.qmg file and replace it with a png sequence and it will still play properly, for anyone interested.
.qmg files and limited suport for this new tech
Hello,
I have really been reading for 3 days and there is not much on this topic.
What I understand is that the .qmg files can be replaced on the Froyo versions if the Kernel supports it with png's but not GBE's. I have been successful in changing the the boot animations (only) .qmg's with .qmg's. These files are very limited in my searches and found some posted here.

png's (bootanimation.zip) will not work in the GB? Am I correct, because there is not yet a kernel to support the GBE's? Can anyone clarify or am I really messed up in my thinking.

Imoseyon has a GBE Kernel which supports Bootanimation changes.
I tried custom boot animations on GB and the system never kills the process, so the boot animation keeps going unless you manually kill it via adb. That's the only reason I didn't include it in my repacked kernel.
Imoseyon Kernel v.22
Says it supports custom boot animation check it out!

Ok so I have the pbj boot ani that imnuts posted over in the fascinate area and I got a different pbj boot up sound that is 17 secs long. The boot ani works fine but it cuts off the sound early. Is that because the Gummy 2.0 imoseyon kernel boots up the phone faster than normal?

I didn't say that custom boot animations didn't work, I said it never goes away. Maybe he did something different, I don't know, but I tried 3-4 different things to get the boot animation working properly in EP1Q, and it never worked right if it wasn't the stock boot animation.
bootanimation.zip
What I have found is that this does work if the file is renamed sanim.zip and the kernel supports it. These files contain .png's not .qmg
However I have not been able to get the orginal droid charge animation to work because it is in the .qmg format. I am on the EP1W voodoo kernel.

Turn off animations / sound?
I'm a bit of an "old school" linux guy - and like seeing my device boot messages as the device loads.
Is there a way you can turn off the animations and sound, and just get the boot messages?
I wonder how can i convert .png to .qmg
or just make it works because i want to change my charging animation
Guys/Gals I apologize if this has been resolved but I have a Samsung Nexus S, Rooted, presently running AOKP CRESPO JB MILESTONE 1, KERNEL =STOCK. I am trying desperately to enable sound on boot, I installed a custom Boot Animation and the desc.txt says the sound file should be placed in /system/media with the name transdroid.mp3. So I downloaded transdroid.mp3 put it in the place it is suposto be and nada. Sure the custom boot ani works fine but where's the sound? I even downloaded an apk called BAC (Boot Animation Changer) and it gave the option of running a script to and import an .mp3 which I did (same one transdroid,mp3) are I even check by accident the build.prop file and noticed that ro.config.play.bootsound has a value of 1 (on) so what the heck is going on? I did ONCE have boot audio when I installed a beta rom called Nexus Sense 3G ROM.
It's pretty straight forward about how to change boot animation on the OPO and other android phones. Done it on the OPO's we have and G3. Animations and boot sounds play on G3, but only boot animation on OPO's. The boot sound will not play on the OPOs. I'm using the same sound file, PowerOn.ogg, for the G3 and OnePlus.
I've read many other posts, and specifically one where the boot animation creator put the PowerOn.ogg file into system/sounds and or system/sounds/poweron On my OPO's, stock 44s rooted, the system/sound directory did not exist, so I created it and those placements do not work. Permissions of the directories are correct. I've tried using the same directory as the G3, system/media/audio/ui, and permissions to 644. Does not work.
Can someone please advise where to put the sound file/how to get it going?
Thank you.
