Battery Life - Verizon Droid Charge

Hey Guys,
I rooted my droid charge, and been trying different roms and kernels, (currently Humble 1.61 with imoseyon kernel 2.6.32.9)
And my battery life is just horrible I lose like 8-9% per hour without even using it.
Any suggestions to a great combination (kernel+rom) for good battery life?
I just feel like my phone was A LOT better on battery before i rooted it and installed custom roms.
Thanks in advance

All roms have the same battery life as they are based on the same source. However, kernels are different. I recommend testing both imoseyon's LeanKernel and imnuts PBJ kernels and seeing which you like better. Also, you definitely want to calibrate your battery.

Better battery life, a De-Sensed ROM or AOSP?

Can't stand Sense, but seems like AOSP ROMs have its fair issues with the Thunderbolt.. Has anyone tried both? If so, which had the better battery life?

I'm on the extended battery but I get at minimum 18 hours with 4G always on and everything constantly syncing.

I get pretty good battery life on CM7 with the stock battery but if I use my 2750 mAh extended battery I get amazing battery life!

I like AOSP, but I'm just wondering if a stripped out/unbloated De-Sensed ROM has better battery life and less bugs than a AOSP one. Btw, I have a stock battery.. + 2 spares.
I got WAY better battery life with a de-sensed rom over AOSP. No matter what kernel/rom combination I try nothing has come close to sense or sense based roms.
AOSP roms are not perfect yet as far as the RIL, but way too much useful stuff on certain ones to go back to sense for me. Battery life is probably 12-16 hours on average for me on CM7 RC 1.6. If it lasts that long, it's good enough for me.
I think it comes down to personal preference. I didn't see a big enough difference to stay with one over the other for battery life. I'm sure it's different for everyone based on kernel settings, oc or not, number of things active in background, level of use etc.

I agree. Both are pretty stable now assuming you install them right and don't mess them up. Differences in battery are as you said, usage overall and what you installed after the rom. I'd say at this point in the life of both sense and the AOSP based roms. Much of how good a ROM is, depends on how knowledgeable a user is in using it to its potential, just like with any electronic device.

agree with this.
I dont notice ANY substantial difference between AOSP or Sense.
I've tried the following TB roms:
Das Bamf Remix 1.8.6 (and others in that series)
CM7
Various Synergy Builds
Gingeritis (current ROM)
I'm a heavy data/phone/txt user. I only have the standard battery. I get through 1 day on a full charge with any of the roms above, and no more then that.

+1 that and I have tried:
Das Bamf 1.6, 1.8, 2.x
Liquid
Theory (at least two in the series)
CM7
Gingeritus
Gingeritus GTX &
Telsa Coil.
Just installed NonS3ns3 and its fast as eff. Now looking for a low voltage kernel, is there a preferred kernel?
By asking which is better you've now got all these "fanboys" from each side swearing that their side is the best. Well, honestly, both can be great on battery. The ROM doesn't play as big a role in battery life as you think. It's moreso the kernal & the radio.
I find on either side the MR2.5 & MR 3.5 radios do well. AOSP side the leankernal is great and on de-sensed the dreamkernal is great.

Thanks for the info. Trust me, I get the major reason for battery life is always a kernel and underclocking. I had the OG Droid and I modded it like crazy, the only reason why I started this post was because if Sense takes so much space and RAM I wanted one that was minimal. I'd take AOSP, but I searched a ton and it has its issues on the Thunderbolt unfortunately.

Definitive best kernel/rom combo for battery? NS4g

I use my ns4g pretty heavily so I need a rom and kernel optimized for battery life. I'm looking for 3+ hours screen on time, something the ics roms/kernels I've had havent quite delivered. i dont wanna downgrade to gb, but I'd like to find a good combo of battery life and stability...

try this ics kernel, http://goo.gl/QAuKi its Trinity TEUV(TEI6S). its undervolted, underclocked at 880mhz, and its bus/gpu is overclocked 10% at 220mhz. its fast and great on battery. i use it with cm9, but it should be good with any ics rom
You don't even know lol ive tried and tested that decent battery but I can't live without the mods... solid performance tho

With all the mods, they r all good as well (icup speedy, matr1x, sg-uv etc.). The new franco.kernel is released and it runs very nice. It doesn't have mods yet but the battery life and performance are super. Also like simms said, the barebones trinity kernels are the best in battery life.
I'm running NexusBeam with franco's latest and I got like 25 hours of battery after average use.

TEUV All the way for battery performance
Matr1x v15.0 is out, has all the features and is undervolted.
I get 20-25 hours out of battery with around 4-5 hours screen on time.
Do you think using running CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS with Matr1x 14.5CFS, i could get decent battery life? i'm asking cuz i want to install ROM on Gf's phone, she still running CM7 from when i did last time, but i don't want to put a rom that lacks features. i want one feature rich that will not suck on battery life
I can't get over 2 hours screen on time MAX at all anymore. I'm running Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast GB with GlaDOS 1.12 kernel undervolted to 880 MHz and 20% screen brightness. Even with a new Battery and a full wipe and clean install I still get terrible battery life. Anybody have any ideas? I'm dying here. Is my phone broken?

At first it's a simple rule. What works for me, might not work for you You should try a kernel's and radio's combinations, remember about a RIL matching to radio You choose and give it some time to settle it On GB ROM version best for my battery life was Brick kernels
The best for me now is Virtuous Inquisition-v3.5.0
Quiet good in battery life... My phone on stanby(when im sleep) for 10hours++ and only drop for 1%
Really happy with Virtuous roms
Tried many many ROM's
HyperNonSense had the far best battery life time on my Sensation XE. It was superior to Virtuous. ;-)
Have you tried lowering the cpu and putting it on conservative, that helps me out regardless of rom usually. Using Darkforest now and it hasn't really affected the stock battery life, 6 hours of constant use, more than a full day if I stop fiddling

[Q] Battery Life rooted

I am looking for a rom that handle me using my phone all day and not dying. I would love to find a rom that possibly allowed you to turn off the lte or whatever. As long as i dont have to charge my phone 3 times a day. Can anyone help me out?
many topics posted on this, the search feature is ur friend
My opinion
Seanscreams skyscreamsandwich rom has excellent battery life, I think if you try that with the new UCLA kernel you'll be very happy.
I have the stock Rogers ROM, rooted with CWM installed. I installed updated stock UCLA radio and kernel last week to get the benefits of latest kernel. Worked great but I've never been thrilled with battery life so Saturday I flashed Faux kernel v. 9m I think it was, on top of stock ROM and new updated stock radio.
Installed Set CPU to control new scalable speed kernel. I'm not easy to impress but it's absolutely unbelievable. Set to a conservative profile I've got blazing speed and 50% better battery life after 2 days use.
Go for it but don't do any playing before installing custom recovery ( CWM) and making a Nandroid backup.

The Skyrocket has respectable battery life, consideeing its LTE and 4.5",screen. A ROM is not yoir solution to getting extended battery life out of your phone. While some ROMs are more battery friendly than others, there are better alternatives. Juice Defender seems to be really popular and successful at prolonging battery life.

Here's a link to the thread. I'm sure there are others like it. I definitely learned a lot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524291
Needless to say before any of that is done, you wanna make sure the following is done first:
1. Make sure your phone is rooted and have Clockwork mod setup.
2. Do a nandroid backup.
Hope this helps.

battery percentage problems on hellfire phoenix V2.0

I installed Hellfire Phoenix V2.0 p999 a few days ago and ever since the battery meter has been doing weird stuff. One minute I look and it will be at 67% and then the next it will be down to 19%. Just yesterday I plugged it in at 92%, after I plugged it in it read 83% so I unplugged it and back to 92% it went! I know its not my battery because I have had plenty of different ROMs on this and the battery percentage never gave me a problem before. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Thanks
That's because you're probably using Faux's DS kernel. Flash another kernel.
Its not the rom but the debouched sloth kernel(ds kernel) its supposedly gives an extra 5% juice but very funky battery readings. As long as you charge the phone fully and drain it til its nearly complete ( around 2-5%) you can avoid these readings, course as soon as u charge it again it will jump to 78% again lol
Its probaly better you just stick with just the cm kernels when using faux, or try out instead morfics excellent cm7 kernels!

There are 2 versions of each faux kernel, ds/cm...
make sure you flash the cm one for best stability accurate battery readings.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
btw if you don't mind the funky battery reading you can just stick to DS kernel, it gives you more juice, the amount varies between phones (not all phones are the same)
Here's some facts that faux states outright in his kernel post:
faux123 said:
DS Driver == DebouchedSloth's Battery Driver (funky readings, but great battery performance)
CM Driver == Official CM7 Battery Driver (smooth readings, but battery life is slightly less than DebouchedSloth's driver)

Hope this helps, I'd agree if you were to flash with CM kernel you would be fine -- if you care more about knowing when it's going to die or it lasting just a little more than it's supposed to.
