Hey guys,
Having recently restored the factory settings of my 2.3.4 stock I lost updates to some google apps (for example, I'm now looking at the old Google Music app).
Weird thing is that I had new updates notification but when I enter the market there's nothing to be updated on the list of my installed apps.
1 day has gone by and still no updates...
Am I missing some magic trick here ?
If you go to the Market to the corresponding apps, what does it say?
Does it claim that they are updated and give you an Open/Uninstall option or does it give you an Install option ?

what a n00b I am lol! yep when i get into the corresponding app I have the Update button to click so I guess that will sort it out! Will try at home when I'm in WiFi! Hopefully that's all there is to it
Good to hear, then it's probably just that.

yep I managed to update them from their own application profile on the market! Still can't find Google Music but it's not a biggie, didn't like it all that much anyway...

It is because Google apps send update notifications in batches. You can always update by going to the app page directly before you receive the notification.

Dear all,
I'm new here, I just upgraded my nexus s to ICS 4.0.3, t-mobile ROM. After experiencing battery problem a few days, I decided to do a factory reset. But after the reset, the Google voice icon is missing and I can't launch it at all. I looked at the app manager, and it is there. So I did clearing data for Google partner setup app and restarted the phone, but it still doesn't show up.
Your help is greatly appreciated
Did you try just downloading it off the market?
Please hit the thank you button if i helped!
Yes I tried. The market app doesn't allow me to install or uninstall it because it's a native app.
Thank you.

Btw,where is the thank you button?

Thanks for your reply.
I never rooted my phone before, but will do that after the warrenty expires on April this year.
I actually tried to do the factury reset at least 10 times, so as flashing the official ROM, combining with clearing data for Google partner setup app. But still no luck.

Rooting is an awesome thing to do. I have rooted 4 devices or 5 if you include HP TouchPad.
Droid Incredible
Evo
Droid 3
Motorola Xoom
It is awesome. Lots of great things to do after rooting.

any thoughts on solving my problem?

I did some searching, and found that after the update a lot of people are having problems. Sounds like market apps are causing problems too. I would unistall everything. Then do a factory reset. But from what i read, it is a problem with the update not your phone. They will probably be coming out with an update soon to fix the problems.

it seem like nobody else got this issue,...

I have the same issue.
I have same issue, I had Google Voice before updated to JB. It seems Google restrict some system app outside US. Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Magazines, Google Play Books also be freezed. I've unlock them using Titanium Backup defreeze feature. But this not work on Google Voice, since Google Voice isn't freezed. Still don't know why.
I am facing same issue... JB not showing Google Voice :-s
I just flashed my ROM to cm9 from cm7 and installed the google apps package.
When I log in open Android Play (same account), and go my My Apps, all my previously downloaded apps and purchases are there still there, but none of them say 'PURCHASED'. They now list the purchase price of the app. Essentially, it's not recognizing I purchased any of my apps.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
EDIT: If I go on my computer and visit https://play.google.com/store, My purchased library still exists and I am able to install it via send to phone.
So really, it's a matter of inconvenience.
I read an Engadget article saying this is happening to a ton of people and Google is aware and working to rectify it.

Try going to manage apps and deleting app data for play store. That has worked for me in the past.

Yes Google is aware of this and best thing to do log out your gmail account clear data then reopen/sign back in. But if that doesn't help you'll have wait till Google updates

It seems to have fixed itself. Maybe there was just some server delay recognizing my phone.

Hey I was wondering if anyone else has had apps install by themself, over the past few days a couple of apps have somehow showed up on my home screen. They don't show up under the app drawer or under apps in settings. Also ever since these started coming thru I keep getting notifications for other stuff like "lose belly fat" and "job offers starting at $325 and hour". I'm currently running aokp m6 if it helps. I've done a full wipe and it stopped for a day and then came back. I'll post some screen shots of the apps.
P.s. the ones installing automatically are the last three above the PayPal widget.

I too had some Apps install on their own. But they were apps I had before I attempted a NANDROID Restore, which for some odd reason failed and killed my Boot. So I was forced to re-flash my stock boot/ROM on my S3 (AT&T Flavor) and repeat the Rooting process. But once I started looking through my app drawer, some of these apps were being re-installed. Odd, perhaps some internal back-up that I'm not aware of on ICS.
Yea these are random apps that aren't even from the play store. When I click on them they open the browser and take me to a page to sign up for a subscription.

Have you installed recently any pirate app? An app not bought or downloaded from Android market?
I saw some apps that installs a patch that brings/installs apps and shortcuts on your cellphone. Tô solve this Just delete the program or patch and use an antivirus Just in case...
Good luck

No I purchase all my apps from the market. and have all your same apps from my note and my note doesn't have this issue.

same issue
I'm having this issue but its legit apps keep "updating" themselves baxk after I uninstall them
ie: bbm, flashify, (more I can't think off atm)
Some of the apps has Adware build in it, which means if you download the App, it will spam your Home screen full.
You can fix this problem by manually delete it everytime, to fix it permantly you need to delete the app.

Are you sure you uninstalled the right one?
also do you have any virus on your phone? I don't think this is the problem though.

Yes multiple times
Today I went as far as deleting history of them being installed in the app store... Waiting to see if they are back tomorrow
Update: still happening. Resorting to auto update off and still having to stop installs... Something to do with rebooting, or its triggering it
As with some of you, I do not like the 7.x version of Google Maps. So, I am using a 6.x version of Maps. Using Titanium Backup, I "detached" the Maps app from Market, so when I do a bulk or auto update, the Maps app is not updated. About 1-2 days after I detach Maps from market, using Titanium Backup, I notice that the Maps app shows up again in Market and shows needing to be updated. This has happened several times in the past few weeks.
Not sure what or if I am doing anything wrong.
How can I permanently detach an app from showing up in Market?
What could be causing the app to show up in Market after being detached using Titanium Backup?

I've been experiencing the same thing with the most recent titanium and play store - apps will detach for a day or two but they will still have updates in the "my apps" section.
Interestingly enough, when I get notifications for updates it doesn't mention the detached apps. Haven't figured out a fix yet...

I have the same issues with it re attaching itself to the market. I haven't yet found a solution. I looked at rom toolbox pro and that doesn't seem to have that same option

Why not just turn off notifications and auto-updating in the Play Store, rather than trying to detach all your apps? I haven't quite found a time when detaching from the store is a benefit, other than if you share apps with people.

I never auto update for example, for a while I didn't want to update Google Wallet because you had to change your build.prop back and you could screw it up if you had it working. I like getting notified when updates are available for all my other apps, and just hitting "update all" in the Play Store when I have some time to let it update. Unfortunately, since I couldn't detach Wallet, it would always try to update with the rest of my apps whenever I hit "update all". Detaching it from the market would be perfect in this situation

Hey everyone I figured out a workaround for the whole Facebook forcing you to use Messenger app. This is for Android only so sorry iOS...
Go to Settings > Security and check Unknown Sources.
This is important because you need to download the apps from the web.
**BTW in case something bad happens to your devices which I'm almost positive nothing will I'm not responsible.**
Okay now delete your Facebook app.
Then go here: http://facebook.en.uptodown.com/android/old
And go all the way down to the bottom of the screen and download the oldest version of Facebook. Install it and sign in.
Now keep installing every version of Facebook from the bottom up and make sure just to click on the messages tab to make sure it works on every version of Facebook. This will let you keep the messaging option in the default app for the newest version! When an update is available I recommend you update from the website rather than the Play Store. Haven't tried it yet because there isn't an update and I don't know if it will still work.
Hope this is useful! Good luck

thanks. Im gonna try that because it really bugs me when they do that. Right now Im focusing on figuring out how to keep my sync settings for my google account from changing on their own all the time. Its driving me mad.
Thanks! I'm sure my friends will be glad to hear this!

I just use Messenger. I've been using it for as long as I've had a smartphone. I'm not afraid of the permissions. Samsung's stock SMS app requires all the same permissions as Messenger and more.
