[Q] Are windows phone 7 dev tool available on DVD - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,

I am not sure if can do that successfully with a reliance netconnect dongle here at my place (india/pune).
Can anyone help me out with burning a DVD of the same i can personally collect the same from pune/mumbai OR point me where i can buy the same online or offline ?

Windows Mobile Emulation

Hi there,
I have a project to do at work and I work with PDAs all day. My mission is to get the Windows Mobile emulator to be embedded onto a website.
I want to know if this is even possible before I start putting lots of energy into this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
There must be someone out there with some knowledge of this! Please!

Help for Ultra Noobs!!!

Hello! I am the afore mentioned ultra noob and despite looking, I haven't been able to find an idiots guide to the simple stuff - what is a cab? What is a rom? I have read that I need microsoft .Net Compact Framework 3.5 but when I try to install it, it says 'Deployment to device will be unavailable as compatible active sync was not detected on this computer'. All things that I am struggling with.
I will be getting a TP2 next week and am hoping to get a head start on some of the stuff you more experienced peeps know about. So, if I have missed an ultra noob guide on these forums, could you point me to it or, maybe the regular users here could post a few replies with, say, your top 3 tips for tweaking a phone and choosing the right programs to download?
Thanks!
Hi,
I'm sure everything you need is available on xda. Another place to get basic information is Wikipedia:
CAB file: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAB_file
ROM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Read-only_memory
ROM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROM_image
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmware
http://gizmodo.com/5281397/how-to-install-windows-mobile-65-right-now
If XDA and similar sites and the search functions are too bewildering, get Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine's "The Ultimate Smartphone & Pocket PC How to Guide" for Windows Mobile users. There you'll have all the basics covered for total beginners. It's no longer published but you can get a copy of the last edition which covers up to WinMo 6.0 with loads of other stuff for 20 USD. http://www.smartphonemag.com/cms/bundle. Some of the stuff may be getting old, but WinMo hasn't changed all that much.
Thanks for your help!

BoD World Tour Android App, possible port to WM?

My friend who has an Android phone (Moto Cliq on T-Mo USA) showed me this application she got called, World Tour. The developer is BoD, his website is here: http://www.jraf.org/android/ and the specific section for this application is here: http://jraf.org/code-latoureiffel/content.xml
What I'm wondering is if someone out there could port this application to Windows Mobile for my HD2.. I already e-mailed the developer and he said he is not planning on creating any applications for Windows Mobile, only Android :-(.
If not, then does anyone know of any similar application for Windows Mobile that will load live webcam's (from different links, I even know a few of my own I'd like to use if possible) as your wallpaper (background)? And this application will also change the image every X minutes (my friend had her's set to 15 mins)...
Hope someone can help, thanks in adv.!
85 Views and noonee is interested in this? Or willing to try porting it? I wish I knew enough about programming, etc to do it :-(...

[Q] Windows Mobile Beginner from where to start

Hello,
I'd like to start programming Windows. I've heard that people submitting apps before February will obtain Windows Mobile. Is it true? Which framework should I use for?
Thank in advance
first, i think you're talking about Windows Phone, not Windows mobile.
to develop for this platform you have to download the sdk, including an emulator from this website:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27570
to publish applications on marketplace (and to unlock phones) you have to subscribe an AppHub contract (paid, 99$/€/year)
http://create.msdn.com/en-US/
if you want only to unlock a phone (without the marketplace developer access) you can read various posts on this forum
obtaining a developer phone is not that simple, but it depends which country you'r from
Yeah Windows Mobile was it, you could do more with it but it's in the past, Welcome to Windows Phone where MS tells you what you want and need instead. LOL. I have the Trophy and it is great but it will never be as good as my Touch Pro 2.

Click to collapse
I agree, but only oh half...
90% of users are dummies. they need easy and closed operating systems.
that's the reason why ios and wp are so closed up.
WindowsMobile was great.. but such a mess!! it was used only from people that needed it.. if they want to sell... they have to realize something easy and reliable..
android takes a slightly different path, it is closed if you don't want to unlock it..
