[Q] WeaponG2x 2.3.3 + silent video camera - T-Mobile LG G2x

I am happy with WeaponG2x GB 2.3.3 on my G2x. It has only been 48 hours, but so far not a single issue. (Cm7 nightly 124 was resulting in frequent force closes and sleep of death).
I found this xda post that provided a camera.apk that will remove the video start and stop noises. We like to get video of our toddler, but as soon as she hears the sound, she drops whatever she is doing and grabs for the phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056547
What I did:
0. Forced closed and cleared data from the camera app.
1. Backed up the original camera.apk from /system/app
2. Replaced it with the new camera.apk
3. Changed permissions to -rw-r--r-- (just like the other apks in /system/app).
4. Restarted.
Now i get a "stopped unexpectedly" error whenever I run camera.apk. I even replaced it with the original, and still no dice.
I hate the re-flash the ROM just to get my camera back. Any advice?

[Q] KD1 issues - anyone notice these yet?

Hi guys!
I'm wondering if anyone else has seen minor issues like this with KD1.
It makes no matter if it's Odexed or Deodexed. I never had this with KC1 or KB1.
So, here's the minor list of perplexing issues.
1) My co-workers and I rely on texting each other a lot. If I get too many texts one right after the other, the SGS4G will go into this odd "buzzing" fit with a blank screen. It will reboot properly by holding the power button down, and then will work perfectly fine for 36 hours or so. Then - repeat the problem.
2) If I do too many updates in the market (Amazon OR the native Android Market), it (the market app) will seize up and will not update anything.
3) Setting LCD Density lower than 200 results in force closes of various TouchWiz related items, especially the contacts app. This seems to be common with TW related items. Third party contacts apps work fine.
KD1 (both Odexed and Deodexed) were flashed to where everything was brought back from scratch. No TiBackup restores - all apps were restored from the app stores they were received from.
Thoughts/suggestions?
TIA
i've had the problem with the "stock" messaging app going black with one vibrations, then it vibrates 2x and pops up with message that it has stopped working force close. Today I noticed when I press the phone icon to call someone in my call history, there is a little lag on it. However, I also notice my battery is a lot cooler ranging 5-10 degrees. But I know I need to reboot phone, it stays on a lot, which will probably help with the 2 problems i've had so far. other than that no major issues. i am currrently running Whitehawk's deodexed KD1 with stock and 3rd party apps restored by TI backup

I've noticed a few issues with the market but nothing major. Easy fix for any apps that have issues, Settings>Applications><App>>Clear Data. Re-open app.
That has resolved the market issues I've had.
In regards to the texting issue, I haven't experienced that at all. I've texted several conversations at once as well, incoming and outgoing etc.
The LCD Density isn't something I have messed with, in regards to that it's been talked about several places that modifying those settings could have adverse effects. Some apps may work but others will have issues. The cost outweighs the benefit on this one for me.
I have had 1 app issue(psxfordroid) it would lock up. Not the phone just the app, fixed it buy uninstalling and reinstaling. Anyone notice a lag somtimes not all the time but every now and then(like hitting the return or home key)?

The more I play with KD1, the more I'm getting lockups. I'm about ready to go backwards to KC1.
I wipe KD1. Reflash it with blanking out user data and cache. Blank out my SD card. I still get issues where market apps don't install. Very irritating.
Like I said - I'm about ready to flash KC1 Deodexed and let it sit until some custom ROMS come out with CWM. I never had issues with KC1 Deodexed or Odexed.

FCs/soft reboot?

So so far, yesterday I've had the multi-touch keyboard force close maybe 4 times, the drag racing game 8, and a soft reboot. I have not rooted yet... holding off until there is more of a point. Anyone else having issues like this? I have 28 more days to do an exchange, I wanted to see if it's just my phone or not & either way I'll give it another week to see how it fares. Soft reboot occurred at maybe 40 hours or so of run time.
I use Go keyboard which has a far better layout and the swype ability as well, never had a fc. I dont play games. Have gotten a few fc's on various apps for unknown reasons, a few freezes in apps, but it happens so rarely that its not an issue. I did have to do a hard reset the day I got it though, but it was my fault.

try doing a battery pull, not saying it would help but it definitely wouldnt hurt.
Fter rooting FC's also
After rooting (One-click method) and running Titanium Backup Pro to get a good backup of my phone. I now have a similar FC issue. Every time I try to open a contacts details, in the contacts app that starts, it will FC on me. The same thing happened to the phone app, works only if I dial a number from the keypad, click on a recent call in log, baam! FC I had to install GO Contacts/Dialer and they work fine. I tried to clear the cache/factory reset but the issue persists after I just loose all my info.....
Any way to Flash back to stock yet, think its a little to soon to root this racehorse....
I now have 3 apk's in TB that have a line through them. I cannot backup/restore/freeze the apps. Under the lined out app it says "No Backup yet"
com.motorola.blur.contacts.sync.yahoo
com.motorola.blur.provider.linkedin
com.occamy.andriod.motoxmayhem1lite
Anyone that can post these apk's so I could re-install/repair would help me greatly. I had this similar issue on my old cappy and replacing the app fixed it. I think when TB makes a backup and closes the app it some how actually deletes the app and/or corrupts it and then you have to replace it.
Rooting should no effect on the problems you are having. Did you freeze anything with TB, if so unfreeze everything, if not try unistalling it and see if the problems persist
If you are rooted, download ROM Manager and run fix permissions. That should help out with FC's.

What caused the stability problems?

Ok, i've been modding and playing with my LG Optimus Black P-970 lately, and it's been working pretty nicely. But today it started being unstabile, and weird. Examples, often when scroll around menus etc, i see a black rectangle i would guess is about 5x10 px in size, lined up in the left side of the screen. Lots of apps act weird and stops responding. If i tru to unlock after a while in standby, the screen freezes on what looks like a untuned analog tv channel, just with some colors in it. So what might have caused it?
What i have done tody, is to:
1. Updated GO Launcher EX
2. Download BusyBox, and apply the newest update it offered
3. Update the su-binary in superuser.
4. Lastly, which i suspect, i pulled Phone.apk, replaced a few background pictures in it (New ones is same resolution, but different type, from RGB to Monochrome), and pushed it back in.
Now i got problems, so i did this without any results so far:
- I've replaced GO Launcer EX with ADW.
- Removed some widgets i made with Chronotopia.
- Uninstalled BusyBox (But probably not the updates it applied to my system).
Any experiences/knowledge with these kind of problems? I do suspect the Phone.apk and the updated BusyBox...
EDIT: I managed to get a screenshot of that block dot that keeps appearing on the left side. For some reason, it appears as white in the screenshot. w00t? Dunno if it's relevant.
I would change phone.apk back to stock just to see if that helps. I kind of doubt it had to do with busy box. Good luck!
That was my idea, and i thought i had Phone.apk laying around, but no So i tried something stupid and ended up bricking the phone again, lol. So now i'm back to stock, rooted it and did a backup Updated BusyBox, Superuser and su-binary. Seems good so far, haven't done anything else. I'm gonna be so sad if i find out that i can't change a few png's in Phone.apk without stability problems. I didn't sign the modified Phone.apk before i pushed it back, may that be the problem?
I suppose it could be. Try your change again & see what happens.
Ok, last time i ended up doing a full LG recovery, and just a little tweaking. Yesterday, i made a backup, then started to heavily modify the framework-res.apk, and i got the same problem once again. This time i didn't even touch any other apk's. So now, barely awake, lol, i tried removing the old files and replace them with stock in drawable-hdpi folder, and push it back. Still the same. Tried to push the stock untouched framework-res.apk, still the same. Tried to recover to the backup i made, and still the same. What bothers is that i bypass an error message saying "ERROR, LG Security Team !" on every boot.
So i tried another, bit old backup, and this one works fine. But these problems i mentioned has not been showing between those two backups. I just had to try to restore the backup i made yesterday once more, and still it's buggy. I just can't make any sens out of that...

Stock ROM: crash / reboot every 9 days 9 hrs 30 min

My stock ROM crashes (or auto-reboots) every 9 days 9 hrs 30min like a clock.
It happened for at least third time in a row, or most likely it is going on like this all the time because I only noticed this odd behavior when I installed a little "uptime" app. After 3 times obviously that's not coincidence, something is causing my phone to crash or reboot every 9d 9hrs 30min.
Has anyone else notice or had same problem?
Stock rom, locked/unrooted, with stock apps and very few extra apps installed, after previous crash I removed almost everything I had installed in the past, I kept only AirDroid, ColReader, Google Drive, File Manager, Mobo player, Skype, SPB TV, TeamViewer - nothing else, yet it still crashed. I can't figure out is it ROM or any of the apps.
edit - perhaps I should have posted in ROM development... Moderator, please move it?
I wish I could help but I've never been able to stay on the stock ROM for that long.
But....no, you've posted in the right place. Put it in developement and it'll get moved to HERE.
There's a TMobile app on there that monitors the days until suggested reboot (7 days) and will then proceed to "warn" you consistently when you're over that period. It is possible that this app is clashing with one of your other apps or doing something in the phone - maybe using too much memory? /shrug
My phone does the exact same thing after a week but it doesn't reboot, it just randomly "soft-crashes" after I hit the back or home key while playing a game or backing out of dialer, apps, etc.
It's extremely annoying and happens whether I have few apps or my normal stock of apps; the only time it doesn't happen at all is after a factory reset (if I don't update anything).
The only thing I can do to stop it is to reboot the phone, as suggested on the 7th day...as soon as I see that notification, I reboot and so far so good.
Good Luck.

Camera - Videos but no photos

I'm running the latest Sultan rom and the latest xposed. Just noticed that my camera apps record video just fine, but no photos are recorded. The apps start normally and act like everything is ok, but after taking a photo (which acts normal), no file is saved. Seems like they're trying to save a file--the back button won't close the apps like usual. There are no error messages, except for Dcam, which says, after a second press of the shutter button, 'Picture taking has failed. What a terrible failure!!'
I've tried clearing caches and rebooting. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Make sure there's a space of around 2gb left in storage, sometimes it happens because of not enough space in system.
35 gb free. Thanks.
Ok, stray bytes I guess. I wiped system and caches and reinstalled rom and gapps and things are normal again.
This has happened several times since my last post. In every case, reinstalling or updating the rom and gapps restores the functionality of the camera (it happens with all camera apps I have). In time, photos stop saving, videos are always ok. Just like my original post. If anyone has any ideas I'd sure appreciate it.
