[Q] memory and storage - T-Mobile LG G2x

I am currently running latest eaglesblood. and in my settings it shows that my internal storage is only cabable of holding 5.** gigs or so the specs say it holds 8
also memory is showed at 100 megs free of 352 megs again specs say i belive 512
What gives?

update
here is the mem infor exactly
(avail/total)
196mb/373
mnt storage
total space 5.44gb
available space 4.76gb

All phones are like that. It just sucks that LG decided to partition the 8gb internal storage into 2 sections(1.5gb for apps/games and 5gb for an internal sdcard) which makes no sense as most people buy a larger external sdcard for their music/movies wutever else. I myself have a 16gb Lexar class 6 sdcard and find the 5gb internal sdcard wasted space!
As for the ram, the android system uses a part of it to run on the phone and the rest is available as you just mentioned. Coming from the mt4g and it's 768mb ram there isn't much difference and the available extra ram was wasted so 512mb in the g2x is just fine IMO.

Question on MiniSD not showing full capacity

I purchased a 2GB TopRam MiniSD Card for my 8125 Wizard. However, the storage card size is showing up as 1949.59 MB. Is it normal to have 50 MB's missing? Am I supposed to format the card so that it shows 2000 MB free space? Just kind of puzzled here.
This should help clear it up:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibibyte
Basically the companies market it as 2GB whilst they make it less than a true 2 Gigabyte. The actual size would vary with the quality of the manufacturer.

[Q] Can somebody esplain the memory specs to me?

I have a Droid A855. The main problem with it is keeps giving me low memory errors. Now the specs claim that it has 256Mb internal memory.
The Droid X says:
TI OMAP 1GHz processor with Dedicated GPU
8GB Internal memory for emails, texts, and apps
2 GB microSD card pre–installed on–device — up to 32GB microSD supported
Is this 8Gb the same memory that the 256Mb of the 855 is? Is there really that much of a jump? This is the one I'm interested in.
But, the Samsung Fascinate is on a 1 day sale for the same price as a refurb Droid X - $99. It says:
1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Processor
2GB Internal memory
16 GB microSD card pre–installed on–device — up to 32GB microSD supported
I am still leaning toward the Droid X even though a refurb. WWYD?
-Jim
Droid X - 8 GB internal memory + you can put a 32GB SDcard in it = 40 GB is the maximum you can get.
Samsung Fascinate - 2GB internal memory + you can put a 32GB SDcard in it = 34GB
What is internal memory?
Internal memory is used to store data that is used by the system at startup and to run various types of programs such as the operating system. Typically, internal memory is contained on small microchips that are either attached or connected to the computer's/phone's motherboard. Memory can range from a couple of megabytes to several gigabytes. On an Android device the internal memory will be used by the operating system and applications. You can move some apps to the SD-card, but it's always nice to have lots of internal memory. I have an HTC Desire HD with 1,5GB internal memory and i have about 1GB free space left after using it for six month
Thank you. But what I'm after is how much memory the X offers for system processes. In other words, the A855 offers 256Mb, what does the X offer? I know it isn't the entire 8Gb, but some part of it.
I don't know. Someone with the X will have to give you the answer I recommend you ask in the general section in the Droid X forum.

[Q] Android tablet specs????

Hello,
I have a tablet GOClever TAB T75 and I have a strange caracteristics and specifications about it.
Android OS 4.0.3/4GB flash memory/512MB RAM
Hardware is:
Memory: 29F32G08CBACA [Micron Technology - MT] - 1pc on motherboard
RAM: HYNIX H5TQ2G83CFR - 2 pcs on motherboard
Correct me if I am wrong.
Flash memory some internet pages reports that is 4GB some 8GB.
For RAM I go straight to manufactor web site it's 2GB DDR3 ram module and tablet motherboard have 2pcs.
So my question is why Android OS showing only 4GB Flash memory (I think this is ROM - correct me if I am wrong) and 368MB ram (usable) and 512MB (total RAM) where on motherboard are 2pcs of HYNIX memory 4GB RAM?
Any advice and explanation?
Thank you
anyone????
Well what is your question?
If u got the tablet sold to you as a 4 GB. That is the whole system and storage total. Usually partitioned into 3 or 4 partitions.
Not really sure what u are asking, them Chinese tablets are made by about 100 different companies. Ram isn't removable if that is what your thinking

I'm kind of confused.
The tablet is 4Gb of internal storage and 512Mb of RAM. There's really nothing more to be said. Android is only showing that because that's what is there. If you got scammed that's another issue - but if it was sold to you as 4Gb flash memory and 512Mb RAM then that is what you do have.
Like ronedogg said, the 4Gb is all the internal memory, including space for your ROM (software that makes the tablet run). That's all there is to report because that's all there is.
The RAM might be "2 pieces" of 254Mb RAM. It's not 2Gb - even if you have a copy of a tablet that's supposed to have 2Gb RAM you do not have that, you have 512Mb RAM. Nobody is putting 2 pieces of 4Gb RAM in Android tablets - you only see that in Windows tablets that have Intel processors and tend to be very expensive. Did you pay over $1000USD for this tablet ? I hope not. :silly:
Your RAM is probably 2 modules of 254Mb RAM, if it's even "2 pieces" at all. Generally when reporting RAM they will tell you total RAM, not some number that you multiply, anyway.
Hello,
Thank you for informations. I payed less then 80USD for tablet (used - not new).
Even that tablet have 512MB ram when it's on Android shown Total Mem.: 368,36MB ram (used for OS around 150MB) so Free ram that I can use is only around 200MB (on stock rom).
So that's I am confused why have 512MB of ram and usable only 200MB. Or it's just SW blocked???
In attachment are specs for module.
Thank you
BR
Well, what is the Ram that is being used going toward? The system can take more than 150Mb from what I've read.
I don't know what you have specs for, but I'd be willing to bet my firstborn that it's not what is in your device. You could open the tablet up to confirm it yourself, but if it was sold as 512 and reports 512, why do you think it would be otherwise?

How do I resize /data to more than 2 gig?

I bought a Pipo P1 tablet which has 4.4.2 KitKat, 2 Gig RAM, 32 Gig internal storage. I also rooted it already. Very fast table with the new RK3288 processor. The darn thing however has 32 Gig storage but only 2 gig allocated for the /data partition. I quickly ran out of space to install apps on it. How can I resize /data to bigger e.g. 4 Gig or 6 Gig?
Thanks

Only 11GB Free?

Just unboxed mine, thought it was supposed to be a 32gb rom. Only shows 11gb free space, doh!
16GB, having only that much free is pretty standard sadly.

From what I understand the international dual SIM model will have 32GB on board, and no expandable storage option.
I stuck a 32GB SD card in mines and I am good to go. 10 class for $10.99 from SanDisk so no complaints over here.
IDOL 3 (4.7) 6039Y: Internal memory: 8 GB EMMC + 1.5 GB RAM. End user memory: 4 GB
IDOL 3 (5.5) 6045Y: Internal memory: 16 GB EMMC + 2 GB RAM. End user memory: 10 GB
Both - MicroSD (up to 128 GB)
Don't have info for the dual sim version.
yeah, it's pretty vanilla, actually.
Compared to, say, the Galaxy S5:
http://www.androidcentral.com/galaxy-s5-rom-bit-monster-taking-nearly-8gb-storage
And 16gb is more than enough with SD cards being so cheap now.
About 3 years ago, I went into the ocean w/ my phone in my pocket for ~45 minutes (like an idiot), and of course the phone was toast, but the data on the micro SD was unscathed; in fact, I'm still using that card.
That's normal. I would think people would realize this by now. With my Samsung Skyrocket I had 11GB free so it varies slightly depending on the size of the OS ROM. But who cares. I picked up a 128GB Micro SD for $70 on Amazon. Damn I have tons of space now.
What is end user memory on this phone.
