My gf has had a HTC incredible 2 for a while and I have been waiting to root it for her. Can someone direct to a link about the HTC incredible 2.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
rooting used to be extremely hard but now its super easy go into settings applications checkmark unknown sources go into google through your phone down load apk for z4root go into the app and click pemanent root and let it do its thing your phone will reboot download root checker off your market check your root and there u go easy as that
Are you sure this works for incredible 2?
Ok, so I'm interested in this also. Has anyone tried J-Birds method successfully? GF always complaining about bat life on the Inc2. Rooting would definitely fix that issue.

Lol, I asked that question for my Gf's Inc 2. I used the downgrade method in the forums and it worked like a charm.

Just run the SuperOneClick rooting tool. Click root. Wait till its done. Click Enable Non-Market apps. Restart Phone. Install apps from the SD card.
You dont get actual root but you can install any app you want no hassle.

This is confirmed. I ran SuperOneClick. It ran all the way through with no errors like I got root and then I clicked Allow Non Market Apps. After disconnecting and rebooting, of course I truly did not have root, but I tried installing a non market apk file from my sd card and it worked!! It did not add the option to the settings menu, but nonetheless it is enabled. This should work great for the Amazon Appstore now. Thanks for the heads up!!
Confirmed x2 - this was all I was looking for ATM.. Didn't think about using the ol SuperOneClick
SOC will give you temp root until you reboot.
All you need is temp root to enable Non-market apps...I suggested this to people a month or so ago.
Glad to see it show up again. Its a super-easy solution for those not wanting full root, but still wanting sideloading.
It's even easier to do than the Sideloading wonder machine...
Works great. I still think its time for me to go all the way.
Gives temp root? Sweet all I need

THANK YOU just what I needed, sideloading on the go..!!! WORKS..

At first Amazon store was cool getting a couple free apps. Then I realized they don't transfer over and you have to continue using amazon store to update them. Kinda sucks just to save a couple bucks.

I want to root my thunderbolt but idont know how to use adb theres other app o r something more easy
I suggest you learn, it isn't hard at all, and will help you out in the future.
http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=how+to+use+ADB
Rooting is very simple and is basically a copy and paste operation by following this thread.

Go to YouTube and lookup Nat3mil. He
has great step by step videos of the whole process. U'll need to spend some money in Market too for ROM Manager, Root Explorer and a few others. Get the MR2 radio not MR1. Good Luck!
Use the google machine! One click root. It does the adb for you in 3 steps.
THUNDERBOLT
Is the process the same with a stock mr2 ruu? From what i understood update using the other mr2 radio leak then update to one of the the roms.

I've been searching to get the answer to my wifi
question but i can't seem to find a definite answer.
- after rooting, what do you use to get wifi tether?
pdanet, android wifi tether any others you'd recommend?

Pretty easy to do and if you watch the video and do it step by step you can't go wrong...so easy a caveman could do it.
Congrats Carlito, welcome to the rooted world. You'll never go back.
Coliny, once I rooted I got Rom Manager immediately and a few other root apps. I flashed the radio after flashing new rom - worked fine.

I agree. Learning how adb works is a huge help when it comes to problems down the road. Not hard to understand the basics.
It is saying that it is possible to lose sound. If I have s_off sorry to be dumb but first root wanna get it right if it's a one click method how do u get the sound back flash another Rom?which never did working towards that thanks.

One click method? Do not use any one click methods. They can potentially screw your phone.
Google attn1's ace hack kit. That is the one true way to root your device. Read and follow all of the instructions.

Rooted for the first time last week and did NOT lose sound with s-off. I read a few forums where upon using aahk (advanced ace hack kit) they lost sound. I dont know if it has to do with the gingerbread or froyo rom at the time of rooting but a fix was to update the phones firmware and it would come back. Not sure as this has never happened to me. Rooted while on the stock gingerbread and it worked like a charm

Don't say z4root won't work, it never works unless you're on eclair. I'm saying you can't make a post simply stating something doesn't install on this forum, you gotta at least say "when I try to install it says 'application not installed'" or the like.
Like I said before, you shouldn't expect it to work anyways, so why make a post saying it won't work? Don't tell me how was I supposed to know that, because googling z4root will yield you some results from 2 or 3 years ago.
I also suggested you try unlock root and superoneclick, because the poster before you said to try superoneclick as well and my translation of your post was that you chose to ignore that suggestion.

so then i started my channel to let the people know what i know
some day i flashed a kernal for cdma on a gsm phone
phone won,t boot and i kep trying and trying but i finaly i found and created a video about how to fix it(how to flash boot img)
And finaly guys i knew that easy ways are bad

Could someone suggest the best (safest) method of rooting my AT&T G3? I've only rooted a couple of phones over the years, so I'm not terribly experienced at this. I don't want to flash any new ROMs or change the phone drastically. I don't even care much about removing bloatware. I'd be happy if I could just remove that stubborn circle clock widget on the lock screen and would really love it if I could restore the FM radio.

IO root (I think that's the name) is simple just enter in two commands
In the adb and that's pretty much it. Also I think the radio is a hardware thing and is only on the D855 international model.

I'd go with Towel Root. Its unbelievably easy and works perfect. Google towel root and go to the website to download the apk. Once you download and install, open it up and hit "make it rain" then boom your rooted. After that I'd download SuperSU.

This. Towelroot is by far the easiest and safest route. Doesn't even have to reboot the phone. IT JUST WORKS
Curious, I'm relatively a newbie, after Towel Root method and the phone is rooted what benefits are gained? For example, Is it possible after rooting to install an app for Hotspotting?

After root you will will be able to download apps and tweaks that would require root to run. Its like having full access to your phone and files. Like having admin rights I guess. I'm not sure about hotspot.

Thanks for the tips everyone.
About hot spots. I rooted my G2 and was able to tether whereas before, AT&T prevented this function unless I paid extra.
Not sure I want t o do it at this point because the risk/benefit isn't worth it for me. This phone has so much storage that the bloatware isn't an issue and I never really tethered as much as I thought I would. Too bad about the FM radio. Regaining that function would persuade me.
