on GPS test you cant even find a satelite...
I'm starting to think that my GPS came borked D:
This happened to my cousin once. He reformatted and it worked well.

Try install GPS status from market, cince this software will download RIL file (file satelite location) which will lock sateliite faster
Thanks everyone for the answers and the help.
Since i got this GPS problem, and, some others, like, slow graphics in some cases, low res screen, and low internal memory for apps, i sold my fit and bought a MS2 xD.
Thanks again for everyone.
great!

Hi Guys.
Just wondering if anyone has been able to solve the problem of tomtom7 taking like 5-10mins to find a valid gps singal when installed on the htc touch pro using the internal a-gps.
Sorry if this has been covered. I've tried doing searches and there is a lot of discussion but can't seem to find a thread that actually lists a working solution.
Can anyone help?????
so that is a no?
i thought this was a common problem with a lot of people?
any solutions?
gps fix
for me upgrading to 6.5 rom did the trick
Are you referring to the leaked windows mobile 6.5 rom beta??
I use Tomtom 7 and have no problem at all getting a GPS lock. With the original radio it took around 40 seconds, now with radio 1.12.25.19 it locks in around 10-15 seconds.
But I had to uninstall Google Maps for it to work.
I also use TomTom 7 but I dont use aGPS. It use to take time earlier when I had AT&T stock ROM. After I flashed with Energy ROM 2.0 Win Mo 6.1, the satellite locks pretty fast. However it is still not 10-15 seconds.
This might be as I have kept the radio same.
Do you all guys use aGPS?
I have aGPS disabled, because the GPS doesn't work properly if I enable it. Maybe Brazil has poor aGPS support, so I'm glad the GPS itself is pretty good.
Well im using my htc touch pro on the optus network in australia.
Checking device info shows my radio as: 1.02.25.19
Im guessing this is an old version.
I dont really wanna change anything thats going to void my warranty and the whole purpose of getting this device was so i could put tomtom on it and i didn't have to carry a gps receiver with me, i wanted to use the interneal gps.
Is there any software tweaks out there or is it purely down to dodgy internal gps/ dodgy htc rom
juzz18,.. check the HTC homepages.
there's an offical fix for the GPS fix issue that should blow your warranty
juzz18,.. check the HTC homepages.
What I meant is...
there's an official fix for the GPS fix issue that should NOT blow your warranty
hey that wasn't there the last time i checked!
They've just released it by the looks of the date.
I'll try it out and let you know.
Thanks Heaps!!

I had this radio before, and a few weeks ago I decided do flash a new one (1.12.25.19). I was a little afraid because I had never done that.
Well, now GPS locks 2-3 times faster, finds more satellites, and sometimes locks even indoors, like inside my house.

Ahhh ok. Well the one you flashed to is that an official radio release and if i was to flash to it would it void warranty on the device??
I fought with the tomtom software for a while and eventually gave up. Found a thread discussing amAzeGPS and installed it to the storage card. Works pretty well. Locks on really quickly. Might give it a try.
Anyone with Energy ROM 2.0 tried this?

For me on Energy ROM 2.0, Google Maps gets a fix in under 10 seconds, and Chartcross GPS Test gets a fix just as quickly. From what I can tell, attempting to get a cold fix with TomTom does NOT work, at ALL. However if I start up GPS Test THEN TomTom, it fixes quickly.
Thanks for the reply. Yes I do start Chartcross GPS test first and then TomTom
It take 20-25 seconds sometimes more to get the lock. It is much better than last time when I was on AT&T stock ROM
So I guess there is no use of this patch yet for me
As the title says, I can't get a GPS fix from any satellites anywhere. I live in Australia and this is an American phone, does that make a difference? I think I have to change the GPS ports or address or something, but I don't know what I'm doing. Could anyone help? I still have the original ATT ROM, and I've never flash a Rom or goldcard or anything. Please help.

In order to flash it, your phone must be rooted. Check out this guide mudknot created: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033353
Hello, I rooted my phone, and installed the Australia zip onto it, now I can find some satellites but only 4. I've waited for ages and used various GPS fixing apps. 4 is the most amount of satellits I can find, yet my friends HTC Desire next to me can find 8 satellites in seconds and get a quick fix.

Testing of this post and see if that's fault

Nah, I tried that too and it still is stubborn. Any more ideas?
I am located in Victoria on the Mornington Peninsula have the ATT Inspire 4g which I have rooted and am using the Virtuos Unity v1.29.0 Rom with radio 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2. I regularly use IGO8 and get very good lock and fix in a matter of seconds. Using GPS Monitor (search on Market for it) I get within 10 secs 4 - 5 satellites visible inside and when outside 8 satellites.
Hi all,
had my Desire S for a few days now (upgraded from Nexus One), all is going great apart from today I went for a run and the app I use for tracking/timing couldnt get a GPS fix.
Downloaded GPS fix and this got a fix after 3 minutes or so, but it was then lost again.
Used GPS Essentials and I can see that the satellites were being picked up, but were vanishing every so often.
Has anyone else had any GPS issues? Wondering if I've got a dud chip
thx
I was also trying out the GPS today. Without GPS Fix i'm only getting like 2 satellites but with it, i got 8-9.

Where do you live? I've read about problems had by two Russian Desire S owners on this forum.
I've not really used my GPS as don't drive and had no need
I have tried running a few different ICS roms and had very bad luck with the GPS working. Is there something I should be doing prior to flashing a a new rom or after flashing that would help get the gps to work?
I have tried GPS Status, GPS Test and GPS Fix but nothing seems to work.
I have read tons of posts and nothing seems consistent in gettting the gps to work.
I have used AOSP 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 and vhgomez roms.

this will be moved into a different forum. dont post questions in development...but to answer your question, if you use those gps apps you sometimes gotta wait a while for it to pick up gps, u cant just hit clear agps data, redownload agps data and boom gps works. sometimes u gotta wait a little for it to find a signal. I've never in my whole history of owning an android phone have had gps issues that i couldnt fix by using those programs. and i've run the aosp oICS rom and had perfect gps.
If your GPS is not working at all, and you've tried everything. Try un-rooting your phone, go back to stock rom, see if that gets GPS to work. Then try to root again. I read on a Google forum that this guy did not have GPS working at all. He though he had a bad GPS chip or something. He un-rooted to return phone to Sprint and for some odd reason the GPS started working again. My GPS does not work also. It did prior to rooting. Im wating for the official OTA to un-root then root in hopes of getting it to work. I dont use GPS much so its not a issue for me at the moment. Good luck.
GPS seemed to be off for all the ROMs I was using, mostly in apps outside of the Maps app. I went back to 2.3.7 stock since I figure ICS OTA should be arriving soon.
Good to know I'm not the only one. I love ics too much to go back. But at least its a known issue. Anyone have any idea why?
How bad of GPS are we talking about here? This was done indoors just now...

Try the QBANIN GPSFix app if you haven't already, otherwise try using your GPS in different areas.
For the longest time I would rage because I had no GPS (or so I thought) when I attempted to use google maps or anything. Tried all the GPS fixes with zips and various apps, unrooted, same thing.
A month later I was on a trip out of state, opened up google maps and got a lock instantly! When I got back home checked gps again, still wouldn't lock.
Turns out for whatever stupid a** reason... about a 1/2 mile radius around my house GPS will not work but as soon as I get out of that area, its almost instant haha. Hopefully you have the same issue as I did

Thanks I will try that next time.
At the moment I have a working GPS all the time again.
On another thread a user indicated he shut all the location services off, then used GPStest or Status to clear the GPSA and then request a GPSA download. They he went back and turned all the location services back on. Sounds strange but it got my GPS working.

How long did you wait? I've tried this several times to no avail.
I tried all the fixes posed on Xda, sdx and every other site but i get the same problem when i put my GPS on, it things im in the middle of the ocean right under Africa. Kinda funny and when i go back to stock it don't pick a signal up at all i tried it in other locations and nothing. is anyone else having this problem? I read that it works for other people but nothing I tried other roms and I still don't get a gps fix on anything.
one of the best GPS locks I had is in Sharp Rom. You can find it on AF.
GPS locks in seconds, which proves that GPS problem in Triumph is not hardware related.
If you have CWM you should try it. Don't forget to turn on "use AGPS.." in the setting and you will be surprised.

Yeah this is something I want to try and fix in CM7 will see if I can't get it to work properly!
I'm using g60 cm7 and its stable, but can take up to 2 mins. When I use app gps status it downloads the satellite map and can sometimes speed up my lock. :good:
What I do is at night I'll kick on navigator and "use wireless assist thingy" and it will run forever while I sleep and it's plugged in. I was using FakeGPS for a while and that will mess things up.

Have you tried the GPS 2.0 libraries update for gingerbread ROMs?Now I know that some people say it didn't work but others say it did.I use it on my MT and it works great. If you have tried it with no luck then maybe its the GPS radio in the phone isn't worth a darn.I've read where it was said the poor GPS was a hardware issue and not software.
The fact that GPS is fully working in the Sharp Rom proved that GPS is not hardware issue.

Thanks for trying out the Sharp ROM. There are hardware issues with the GPS but it is also software related. With the Sharp ROM, the GPS, without AGPS, still works better than on any of the Triumph ROMs, IMHO, but the cherry on top is the AGPS. It is ridiculous how fast you get a lock.
Have you tried faster GPS from the market? Most roms and stock use crappy custom GPS servers that take way too long to lock. Faster GPS easily let's you set the server to the official ones closest to your region. I now get first fix times around 1 min then locks on under 10 secs any other time.
