lower screen resolution - HTC Sensation

Hey anyone else find that the sensation is faster with a lower resolution due to it not having to redraw/upscale apps?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk

didnt even know that was possible, is that what you have done? and if so how?

Not possible afaik

I used a free resolution changer from the market place

Though it does make some from of the native app/programs look funny - so there's definitely a trade off there

You guys can try this. I haven't tried it since I'm not rooted yet.

After changing resolution go into spare parts, unchecked compatibility mode, reboot.....and apps will appear correctly

That negates the whole point of having a nice qHD resolution screen.

Not possible afaik

Will give it a try

Reason why I went with this phone is b/c of the higher res.

Why buy this phone and then change the one thing that makes it so special?

Can we safely assume he changed his density and not his resolution?
Our resolutions rock a lower density. I love my insanely small text that is super clear!

Something interesting when you change the density to 200 and load up the new market in landscape mode. Looks and works just like my Xooms market. I can't wait for ICS!

Res issue

I searched for a while but couldn't find what I needed, I just wanna know if once we are perm rooted there will be a way to get apps to display properly, since some apps only take up part of the screen, I believe this is because of the high resolution on the sensation correct me if I'm wrong or is there a solution already without root? Thanks

the dev of the app have to do that or if you know how to edit apks you can
Have you tried turning off "Compatibility Mode" using Spare Parts?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G
Does that work while not rooted I thought u needed to be for spare parts
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App

I extracted the files using Root Explorer and placed the files where they needed to go and rebooted with NO SUCCESS
Title should read "Lock Screen Rings for S=OFF Sensation"

correct it only fills up like 2/3 of the screen. It also takes forever to get back into the phone once you use these.
anyone know the needed size to make them fit correctly on the sensation?
same resolution- 271 x 270. I just used the m10tools to edit the stock apps and it was super easy to do. Resolution was exactly the same as previously.

I have a bunch for WVGA resolution, do you know how I can modify this for qHD with the m10 tools? (That's all I have to do)

[Q] ink blots/blobs - is this normal?

I've had my sensation for about a week now and have noticed that if I press down a touch harder than usual on the screen I get what I can only describe as ink blots - like when you poke a laptop screen.
Is this expected for the sensation? I know e.g. blackberries have this, but my hero and girlfriend's desire Hd do not.
I also had green lines across my camera today but that was fixed by a reboot. Could it be related?
I've tried searching the forum but as I don't know the technical name I might have missed something!
Thanks in advance for your responses

I had one like that on Vodafone so I sent it back, on the other hand I'm a bit picky also
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Yeah I'm picky like that too. I figure if this is a next gen £400 phone it should be of the highest quality.
So I'm guessing it's not a prevalent issue and my sensation is faulty? Now I've rooted it and installed leedroid does anyone know if this affects the warranty?
Thanks!

What is Sensation screen resolution ?

Hello all- The screen resolution of the Sensation is listed as 960x540 but is that for 1 screen or is that for a screen with the scrolling wallpaper, if that makes sense.
The resolution of my Galaxy S is 960x800 but the actual 1 screen resolution is 480x800.
I am assuming there are also 2 different resolutions for the sensation, what is the other one ?

What?
First off, the 960x540 is the actual screen resolution not scrolling wallpaper. Second, if you're using the sense launcher then your wallpapers don't scroll and the sense wallpapers are also 960x540.
On a ROM without sense or with sense disabled, the stock launcher would use a scrolling wallpaper of 1920x540.

OK cheers for the information everyone. I had a look at this mobile today and the screen is a beauty but was curious as to what the actual resolution was, or what both(?) were anyway !!
I think this is my next mobile after moving on from my Galaxy S.

Screen dpi.

I have question what is best screen dpi for htc sensation screen. Now i use 200 but i dont know on whaat dpi have made apps. I can go lower or better not
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
It's personal preference. Try a few and pick what you like. You will find that deviating too much will make a lot of apps show as incompatible in the Play Store.
use 160. It won't make apps incompatible .

It depends on, if you are using glasses or not.
You can change to an intermediate value.
