homebrew Xaps in mango
Microsoft doesn't support ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES" in mango, but not all xaps require it, I removed it from the Navigon xap and then re-deployed it and it ran fine all my maps work on mango
A question here, what did you package .xap with?

Use either WinRAR or 7zip to unzip the XAP. Edit the file, compress to a zip, rename zip to XAP. I have a thread on this already...

There's no need to decompress the archive in order to be able to edit a certain file. At least if it's text based. I for one open the xap with 7zip, then right click the xml file and choose "edit". I can then edit the file to my needs, save it and when I close 7zip it asks me to write the changes to the archive. Once this is done I can deploy the xap to my device and all is fine.
True, the result is exactly the same, but this way you save some time and reduce the amount of possible mistakes.

True, never thought about that. Sometimes we just overlook the simple solutions lol...
a little offtopic
however, i successfully deployed other versions of the same app earlier on mango so i dont think it had something to do with ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES
it seems mango with tmode spl needs more work.
it get lots of different small bugs..
like i had 5x the same call in multitasking..
aborting calls almost crashed my phone today..
im thinking it was alround more stable on htceu spl
but i didnt try to fix anything yet..
maybe when i want to deploy something next time,
ill keep reporting..

Did someone tried to use IC_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES in apps? Heard that too about the deactivation but I'm still looking for proof.
I have the same error 0x89731812 !
I can't deploy any XAP with Application Deployment. I can't debug too with Visual Studio Express (Failed to connect to device. Ensure the device is completly booted and connected to PC).
I have restarted PC and telephone and reinstalled SDK and Zune but the error is still here !
As far as I know the Mango update removes your unlock. I think the only method to keep it unlocked is to use the provxml method. I've got a Omnia 7 which got relocked after Mango beta update - then I restored my unlocked NoDo backup. I'll try the provxml method and tell you if it worked for me
yes its not that the device is not unlocked, it still is.
@zuifon:
did you notice at some point that windows tried to install drivers for your phone but couldnt find any?
it looks like only restore will resolve this error.. its still a beta..
but i dont know yet, i still didnt try it but thx for reporting,
so i wont have to check if reinstall the windows software fixxes it
My phone is unlocked by APPMFG.
Applications installed before Mango still work.
The message is the same if I disconnect the USB Cable, it's very curious !
Zune detects the phone but not the deployer.
I have deleted the phone in the periphal manager in Windows and driver have been redownloaded from Windows Update but the problem is the same.

the unknown driver? or the phone driver?
my device manager does not show any unknown driver..
but it found unknown (the phone) hardware at some point..
now someone over here
reported that he also had used a different phone but can not deploy with the computer anymore. not sure if he has the same error code.
It's a phone problem. I have the same problem with a second computer.
hey guys,
i updated my dev unlocked omnia 7 to mango and re-unlocked it after having finished the update process.
for some reason, i cannot deploy any .xap to my phone, regardless of having ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES or not.
the software deployment software keeps telling me "the remotehost has closed the connection".
anyone have an idea? this is majorly annoying for me.
cheers,
phil
hey,I just think we have the same problem as you described, and i resolved it by my friends help. It's really easy, hey hey, just try to change it on another Universal Serial Bus. Hope can help you~~
heh actually i never tried using another usb port..
i have zuned the backup, everything working again.
maybe update to mango in some days
What on earth could be causing this? My phone (Optimus7) was in service and it got new mainboard. After it came back i did the usual tricks to unlock it etc. but now the deploying ends to this 0x89731812 error no matter what i try. Could anyone have an idea on where to start looking for the cause?

Same here, i don't know if it's warranty repair-related, i don't remember if i unlocked it after that (i relocked it way before mango, that's for sure)...but i got no new mainboard, they just replaced some components (based on repair list sheet), it seems strange they changed something so important to break developer connectivity

Does anyone know if this could be repair-related or just software? i tried last chewron tool too, no changes, phone doesn't connect to "developer" tools.
I guess if there is any registry key related to developer connectivity, to check if they changed anything through some strange sw flash (hoping it's not really hw)
i sent my Focus in for service. "would not charge anymore" they sent it back. with 7004 reinstalled on it. i had previously used chevron on it and was able to unlock it.
now i get the wonderful message.
"Sorry I'm having trouble communicating with the Phone
-Please make sure it's connected using USB
-Please start the Zune Application"
I have tried everything i can think of.
reinstalled SDK. made sure host file is not read only.
looked and searched on chevron unlocking for hours. and still not
able to get it to work. program launches fine. but wont unlock.
any help would be very wonderful.
thank you
Try goin into c/windows /system32/drivers /etc and open "hosts" file with note pad and delete any lines that say "windowsphonedevelopement" then save it...
i believe you still need to unlock chevron again like i did after i send to service centre.
fixed
in the end after 3 days of on and off messing about.
i renamed my hosts file and and used some back up hosts file that was in the directory. and it unlocked just like magic.
I've just bought a second-hand Samsung Focus (SGH-i917) from a local cellphone vendor for developement purpose. From settings, about, it reports software version Windows Phone 7.5 and OS version 7.10.7720.68. Is there a way to find out if my phone is unlocked or not. If unlocked, how can I load XAP onto the phone? If locked, how can I unlock it. BTW, I do not pirate, just for developement.
Hi
You can see if your phone is locked or not trying to deploy a XAP file on it.
You can do this using a deployer like Tom XAP Installer.
You also need the Windows Phone SDK (download it HERE) which is necessary to develop applications and deploy them.
After installed, download a XAP file (or use your own), connect your phone and run WPConnect (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Phone\v7.1\Tools\WPConnect) and open Tom XAP Installer, select Add XAP files and click on Install. If the installations finishes correctly, your phone is unlocked, otherwise you have to unlock it.
You have two ways to do this:
- Official jailbreak by Microsoft (HERE), It costs 9$ and allows you to deploy 10 applications. You won't lose warranty.
- Downgrade to the 7004 firmware (VIDEO) and unlock it using ChevronWP7 (Download HERE), then before updating to Mango you have to send a file (unlock.xml) to your phone (Tutorial Here), otherwise you'll lose the unlock.
Thanks, I'll try your instructions.
@AshleyT: A couple of minor corrections:
The official ChevronWP7 Labs unlock is not by MS, though they permit it (thus "official"). They don't get the $9, though you do have to use a Live ID.
There is another official way to dev-unlock your phone: get a Marketplace developer ("AppHub") account. http://create.msdn.com ($99, goes to MS) or http://dreamspark.com (requires student email address, free). For these methods, use the Windows Phone Developer Registration tool that comes with the SDK download.
The reason I point out the apphub account option is that, if the OP wants to develop apps, he or she may want to publish them to the marketplace at some point. You can't do that with a ChevronWP7 unlock, official or otherwise, but you can with AppHub.
Chevron can check whether your phone is unlocked, or u can try to install one simple xap application to test this.
It seems that my phone is locked.
First I tried Tom XAP installer, it said:
-Please Make sure your phone was unlocked!
-Please Make sure you connected device to PC and Zune launched
Try again?
Then I tried Application deployment from Windows Phone SDK 7.1, which said
Error - Failed to connect to device as it is pin locked.
I am sure my phone is connected to PC as I can see music/video/picture in Zune.
Could someone explain to me what is "pin locked"?

To remove the error of pin locked u just need to swipe up the lockscreen and try to deploy the xap file.. it will be successfully deployed..
I countered the same problem earlier..
Hope this helps
i have successfully unlocked my Dell Venue Pro and i have 5 applications installed. Now when i do Hard reset I'd be able to install only 5 or 10 applications?¨
PS Sorry for my english
Hello,
I'm trying to unlock my HTC Mozart (OS Version 7.0.7004.0)
I'm using Chevron WP7 (not the official unlock, but the first one) but everytime I try to unlock it I get this message:
Sorry, I'm having trouble communicating with the phone.
-Please make sure it's connected using USB
-Please start the Zune application
I've already:
- Installed the Windows Phone SDK
- Sent the ChevronWP7 certificate on the phone
I tried a lot of solutions:
- Downgrade to Zune 4.7
- Downgrade to the previous SDK
- Add this registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsPhone\ProxyPorts]
“DeviceReg”=dword:000069C5
- Connect through WPConnect.exe
- Remove entries from HOSTS file
- Check that HOSTS file is not read-only
- Check the relationship with Zune
- Make sure that the device was not PIN-Locked and was on the home screen
I'm on Windows 7 x64, how can I make it work?
I can't use a cooked ROM because for an unknow reason, when I flash a cooked ROM, touchscreen starts to work bad...
Chevron certificate is out to date (since Nov,2011)...you have to change date settings on your device and pc (put the same i.e. 01/09/2011) - not connected to internet, both - and all should work well...good luck
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!
IT WORKED PERFECTLY!
Thanks again!
glad for you, i remember first time i unlocked my phone, was so excited! i didn't slept during 24hrs looking for things to do...then i found XDA community !!! since that day there are always things to do... :]
Please change [Q] for [solved] in #1 post "edit post" then "go advanced"...thanks
If i can suggest you another "custom way" as you had bad issues untill now, let's give a try to ansar's new tech rom, it's quite a stock rom with awesome tools to update and keep unlock...
hallo... i have a Htc mozart too... and i try all of this that you said but i still get the same answer....
Sorry, I'm having trouble communicating with the phone.
-Please make sure it's connected using USB
-Please start the Zune application
what can i do..?
Where can I get the original Chevron WP7 Unlock and certificate?
With a time machine. They don't work anymore. The cert has expired and the hack that the tool used doesn't work on any ROM version since 7389 (which was released over a year ago).
what can I do now to jailbreak my htc Mozart...?
Hey,
My LG E900 is the OS version: 7.10.8107.79. And I want to unlock it take to install applications and games XAP. I used the method by MFG, I put XAP in a Tom XAP Installer to install, and gives me this error when installing:
-Please Make sure your phone was unlocked !
-Please Make sure you connected device to PC and Zune launched
Try again?
What happening? This method does not it? You can get the original ROM and remain the ChevronWP7 up to this latest version? I have another way?
Thanks in advance and sorry my english!
PS: I can put original Rom, install ChevronWP7 and remain to Last Version (7.10.7740/7.10.8107, or other)?
Use the official Xap installer tool "Application Deployment" that comes with the SDK. The third-party installers are plagued with bugs and bad error messages. Many of them also require at least a few components from the SDK, even if they say otherwise.
If you want to make sure that the phone is ready to receive apps, try synching a file to it from Zune - Zune must be running and synched with the phone for XAP deployment.
