Trying something new, I installed TALK by Xouix, which also loaded something to my SD card, after TALK was installed. Since then, a woman's voice, is always on.. I uninstalled TALK, but her voice continued, even when I am talking on the phone, I hear her talking as well. I reinstalled TALK, and tried and tried, to learn how to shut her up, if not remove her. In Settings, Applications, the only thing I think may apply, is TTS, but when you open to uninstall, you can't, you can only turn it off. I tried, but she continued talking. I admit, I don't enjoy hearing her say CLICK, each time I click on something. I tried to contact Xouis, but I can't. I looked for instructions on it or a manual, which I can't find, so I'm hating my Samsung Captivate right now, for creating a problem with it, I can't understand, or solve. Does anyone have ideas on this? I admit, this is over my head, so any help, will be greatly appreciated.

seemed to have screwed up youtube on my android phone as it will no longer play any videos. in accounts and sync in options there was always one listed that had my username(at)youtube.com and i never thought much of it. started having trouble with it the other day and deleted it. whenever i open the youtube app now it asks me to sign in. i do using the same username i have when i log onto youtube's regular website and nothing works. just says that it is invalid. i'm at my wits end with this. any help would be appreciated
I don't know of any easy solution but you can always fall back on a hard reset/factory default. It's often quicker doing this than spending ages trying to repair one arcane problem.
i have thought of that but i'll be really pissed if i do that and the problem still exists which i have a feeling might happen. prob gonna end up doing that if no one else has any suggestions. thank you though
Hey all,
I originally posted this issue via the link below...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473003
I have not been able to resolve this, despite much effort and trying just about everything to fix it.
I just tried Navigation tonight and encountered this very issue again. Basically, after about 40 seconds navigating to a destination, the phone goes crazy and a female voice starts dictating a bunch of garbage web url's and this continues until you actually end the task/app. I can't figure out why this is happening. The only voice recognition software I have installed is the standard Voice Search app. That works fine. It is when you navigate that this starts happening.
Some of you here and elsewhere stated it can be an issue when installing a new voice recognition tool. However, that doe not apply to me here, as I have not installed any other app specific to this feature.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Maybe try toggling the "text to speach" voice function to see if that clears it up? Or clearing phone cache & davlick?
Thanks. Will try. Been told to do a bunch of other stuff as well.
BTW, Pico or Samsung for text-to-speech engine? Which one should I use or which is best? I'm assuming Google?
I did recently clear cache and davlick. That didn't seem to fix anything though.
Since I'm apparently not allowed to post this kind of question in the CGM thread due to being a new user, here it goes.
CGM10, Verizon GS3. Latest nightly (although I've had this problem with every CGM since I switched over on the 26th.
If I call any number that has a phone menu, such as voicemail, or anything else that has a "press x to go to xxxxxxxx", it does not recognize that I'm putting in numbers. This means I can't delete voicemail, I can't navigate through other phone systems, etc.
Anyone have this issue, and more importantly, anyone have a fix?
I've tried other dialers such as Dialer One and ExDialer, but they only seem to serve as front-ends for dialing. Once I'm in the call it reverts to the broken JB/CGM one.
By "CGM10" do you mean "CM10" as in "CyanogenMod 10"?
I use the Official CyanogenMod Nightlies (right now I am on 9-02), and I tried using my voicemail. It worked fine when dialing stuff while in a call.
bon courage !

Yeah, CGM10/CM10. I've seen it listed both ways.
After doing about 4 or 5 factory resets, I've found that it starts happening after I go in to change my voicemail to include my password. But, even when I remove the , the phone functionality remains broken, and requires I reformat the phone to fix it.
Looks like I get to refromat the phone again. Wheeeee. I've wasted almost 5 or 6 hours fighting this stupid thing...but at least this time I know what not to do, but that's going to be a pain in the ass, and I'd like to know why it's happening and get it fixed, as I'm not a fan of losing functionality.
So as the title says I have a "2 new voicemails" notification that will not go away, even though i have no new or old voicemails, and don't even use my sprint voicemail anymore! I have searched this forum and google for an answer but nothing i have read and tried worked. Strange thing is it only happens on gee roms. I have tried all the things mentioned like leaving a new voicemail then deleting them, changing voicemail # and using google voice, editing preferences in data/data/com.android.phone, and none of them have worked. Even after clearing data it goes away for a little while but then comes back. Even called sprint and had them check it out and reset my voicemail account but still no go, which makes me think it's in the software in my phone somewhere. I have an Optimus G on sprint. If anyone has any ideas please throw them my way because i need the help!
Hello, I've had the unlocked Note 10+ for a few weeks and have had chronic issues since day one and not really sure what to do about it. A lot of the issues seem to get worse over time. Not sure if the problems are related, but it feels like it.
First, I have MMS issues mostly with any other app but the built in messaging app and even that one isn't perfect. Using Textra for instance will get me MMS timeouts sending and receiving and sometimes messages don't send or come in. This seems to happen with or without wifi enabled.
Next, I'm getting delayed notifications on many if not all apps. Notifications will some in here or there, then all of a sudden I'll get all the notifications for the day all at once. So suddenly my phone is going crazy receiving 50 notifications from different apps all at once. Related to that, if I get a notification and click on it to open the related app, often nothing happens. Then like an hour or more later the app I clicked on for the notification will pop open in the middle of doing something else. It will also get hung up installing or updating apps. A reboot will usually clear this but at some point it get's stuck again and will take hours to install an app if it does at all.
I've done all the usual things like disabling battery optimization for the apps in question, set the phone to high performance mode. Uninstalled and reinstalled things, cleared the cache partition, reset network settings, checked APN settings, even now have factory reset the phone, twice, got a new SIM card. Talked to Samsung and they tell me I need to mail it to their repair depot in Texas if I think it's hardware.
So no idea where to go with this. Seems hard to believe it's a hardware problem and sending the phone away for a week or more doesn't seem like a great option, especially when they might just send it back as it works OK for awhile after a reboot.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
After you reset the phone, did you install apps manually from store or let it go off a backup?
Also, just an idea but maybe the tower servicing you is acting up.. Unless it's been happening in multiple areas.

That is a good point, I did let it install automatically from the Google backup. It wasn't a true restore the way I would generally think of it as everything was installed from scratch, but maybe some settings are getting put back that are messed up. It happens out of the are as well, but I did talk to my carrier and they claimed the did some stuff at the tower that might help. I usually think that means they go get coffee then tell me to reboot the phone. Maybe this evening I'll try a fresh install with no restore. Sort of sucks of course as that's a lot more work to get going, but what the hell at this point. Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. I have a note 10+ myself now unlocked and seeing some texting issues where I don't receive text or mms from Apple phones. Hasn't happened with Android to Android though.

So none of that reinstall stuff helped me. On texting I finally tried the Google Messages app with chat features enabled when it was leaked. Messages alone didn't work, but enabling RCS did and now it actually works better than ever. I hate giving up on textra, but I like the sheer speed of sending giant MMS messages now.
On the notifications thing, the thing that finally got that working right was disabling the Google app. As soon as I did that, all is working as expected. Of course that breaks some Google stuff, but at the moment that's what I have to do to make this work. Even upgrading to Android 10 betas didn't allow me to turn that back on.
