contacts problem - T-Mobile LG G2x

When I put in a contact it seems not to take it.I cannot find it anywhere. Might I be doing something wrong?
Thanks
Eddie

Maybe you pressed cancel or back by accident. I do that that sometimes and press the buttons without reading. Sometimes it takes a while if you're uploading to googole contacts

Notifications not working on ICS

I looked around and didn't see anything as specific as this, so I'll ask the question.
A lot of my notifications don't work 80% of the time, whether it's gmail, sms, or a game notification. All notifications are set to be on, but I have a theory. With Ice Cream Sandwich, there is the option to hold the back button on your phone and it will kill your app. I wonder if this might be a culprit. For instance, if I'm reading a text and hold the back button to kill the app, is it possible for that to kill the push notification as well? Granted it could be the ROM I'm using, but no one else on that particular forum has any problem like I've described. Does anyone have any ideas or has this happened on a regular basis? Most things I can live without, but if someone's trying to send me a text message, it might be hours before I think to check it and find out that hours before someone had sent me one.
Thanks in advance for any help.

what rom? how did you flash said rom? Full wipe of data/cache/dalvik? did you restore ANY data or settings with tibu and if so which ones? to me this is sounding like a bad flash. back-to-kill will only take out the active application, notification and sms retrieval is a background process and not susceptible to that.

The rom is The Collective's Redemption. I did do everything mentioned above and the only thing I used tibu for was to restore my apps, but not to restore phone settings. I haven't tried to reflash, and maybe that will be my fix. I still want to see if others might have had this happen to them.
Thanks for the suggestions Darunion.
Been running( mostly) Red for a couple of weeks. I have not seen that issue. The first flash of it did have some strange notification behavior. The contacts app would let me assign ringtones to individual contacts but would still play only the default ringtone when I got a call. Everything has been working properly since the second flash.

Thanks Gato, I'll flash the new Alpha 8r3 and see if it corrects my problem. If not, I'll post back here.

Reflashing seems to have fixed any notification problems I had.
Thanks.

[Q] number above message envelope won't go away

Hello everybody, I usually hangout over at the HP Touchpad forums, but just got this new SG3 that's begging to get rooted.Anyways, the little number that shows up above the messaging icon on the gs3 homescreen won't go away for me.I delete all the threads and however many number of threads that I had going disappear from the messaging app, but on the home screen the number still stays there. I can reboot and it goes away.
Any help would be appreciated.I printed out the 200 page manual but haven't gone through the whole thing yet. Most of it though. Is it something that I am missing to clear the number, or is it something with the phone ? Thanks.
I would clear data for the messaging app and see if that resolves the issue.

Update : I figured it out.Under settings/ developer options / apps/ do not keep activities: destroy every activity as soon as the user leaves it. I had a check mark in the box. I guess it was killing the app right after I deleted the text then I when back to the home screen it would still show a number above the messages icon. Maybe it didn't clear the messages number? WhenI leave the box unchecked and go back to the home screen after I delete the messages the number would disappear above messaging icon. Weird.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Factory Resetted, automagically :(((

Has anyone experienced this:
I left work today and started listening to some music from the GPMAA app with my earbuds. I was scrolling through some social media and after liking and commenting on some posts, I tapped the power button and put the phone back in my pocket. All of a sudden the music stops and when I look at the screen there's a phone looking icon with 2 arrows going in a circle clockwise. When the phone finally rebooted it was factory reset and everything was deleted from internal/external storage.
I'm kind of ticked off that all of my photos are gone and I have to re-install all my apps and re-setup everything.
other details:
Had weaksauce installed/rooted but no supersu/superuser installed. Stock ROM/S-ON. FoxFi installed with that certificate. Also been getting some bug report messages recently where it wanted to send it as an attachment. Couldn't make heads/tails from all that code.
Haven't experienced a factory reset but I do get bug reports every so often. It wants to send them but where and who idk? I have to provide that info so I never know what to do with it.

Did your foxfi app force you to use a lock screen with a pin or pattern because Verizon forces a wipe on ten failed attempts. Pocket wipes can occur thanks to this.

Yes, set up a pattern. I know that I did not fail that many times. Maybe it did in my pocket. You're probably right. Thanks for your response, this makes sense.

If you are rooted you can eliminate this wipe "feature". Setup Google plus photos to back up your pics to the cloud and use HTC backup app to backup the rest. Sorry to hear you got stung man..

Thanks. Fortunately I did have the auto backup but set it to the lower resolution option for unlimited backup.

What email address are they trying to send to? It's not uncommon for app developers to use your email to send bug reports.
Drop box is all through that bug report so my guess is something drop box app related is getting caught...

From what I can remember, the to field didn't have an email address so just sent it to myself. And then another time I sent it to my GDrive.
Welp now that it factory set, we'll see if I still get those bug reports.

''Myself'' in contacts, wont stick!

Everytime I set Myself i contacts, with my name, number and a picture, it goes away after a couple of restarts?
Is this a bug? Anybody else experience same problem?

Yes! The Z3 loses me everytime I restart. Do not think the phones likes me, it's likes the ugly blue standard contact picture head instead!
Noticed this problem yesterday after a restart.
