Where is the bing vision and audio? I installed the rom mango on HD7, escaped from the htc, I can not find it anywhere.
use the search button on the phone, bing vision is the eyeball looking icon on the bottom, and bing audio is the music note.
If I remember correctly Bing services like vision, music and local scout are region dependent. In Germany there's no local scout for example. Changing the settings for the search language to English (US) makes the services appear though.

Hi Everyone,
Well I have my GPS and TyTN up and running smoothly but there is a surprisingly big lack of maps and/or software that seems to cover Japan/Tokyo. With this country being GPS mad there must be something available I can use without having to resort to google maps and downloading stuff all the time. TomTom does not do Japan (??) So perhaps a Japanese local offering?
Anyone in Tokyo using an interesting solution.
Thanks,
Ray
FYI - Mapking seems to offer a Tokyo map.
I was astounded at first, too that it's so hard to find any decent maps for Japan. None of the big players seems to cover the land of the rising sun. But it's not that surprising if you take into account that (nearly) everybody is using GPS in their cars or on their cellphones (which all have to have GPS since last April).
That said, check out www.mgmaps.com. It's a Java midlet application, but a darn good one! It allows you to *download Google Maps tiles of your chosen area and store them on your card*. Saves you time and data once you cut out the map(s) you need. It'll take you a while, but it's a great and free solution that even offers navigation instructions in some areas (I think Google doesn't cover all of Japan right now).
The other solution would be http://uud.info/shop/catalog/contact_us.php?language=en where you can buy maps for Garmin Map Source that you can use on you PPC if you have the according software. Usually Garmin bundles with their GPS hardware, but they recently released a program that enables you to just use your own (builtin) GPS. I hope one of those
I just got a Touch Cruise this weekend and love it so far.
But I find that I would really like to get 2 things for it:
1. a better keyboard. I know there is a learning curve, but I am not sold on any of the keyboards that came with the device. I heard there is a freeware keyboard that is much better. Anyone know of it?
2. is there an application like google maps or google mail that you all use to track stocks and see how your portfolios are doing? Something like this would make the device even more useful.
thanks,
Try out this keyboard: It's a little bit bigger than the standard one. I use it and it works great.
pocketcm keyboard
Google Maps can be found here: Google Maps Mobile v2.0.1.17
for the second one you can search for google2go... it's a hotlink collection for the IE. It launches as a normall app, and does include the mobile google finance
PocketCM keyboard is great. a lot of good skins for it too.
For a maps program Windows Live Search Mobile is by far the best. Seriously one of the best apps from Microsoft and it's for free. It includes movie times, gas prices, maps with gps, speech recognition for addresses and business locations. I think it's only available in the US & UK though, so really depends on where you're at.
As for stocks I use Pocket StockCenter. You can setup your portfolio, number of shares for each symbol, amount paid, etc.
or you could try Vitos' Zoomboard which is quite good
While I agree PCM is a great keyboard, I have been using TouchPAL and have been happier.

I just installed PocketCM keyboard but my Polaris continues to use the Old Keyboard. When I select PocketPC keyboard and then options, it says PocketPC keyboard must be the SIP inorder to Configure it.
What is SIP and how do I get the PocketCM keyboard to work?
I've seen that as a bug sometimes, when you hit the small arrow by the keyboard icon and select PocketCM and it gives you that standard keyboard with the really small keys. Try resetting and selecting the pocket CM keyboard. Then you should be able to go into options and modify it.
Also search for SIP changer, there are tons of threads and the file is floating around. Allows you to set the default SIP on startup.
By the way SIP is "soft input panel" or something like that, it's basically the app that pops up that allows you to input characters whether it be the default HTC ones, default Windows ones, or something like PocketCM.

Hi,
The only feature I'm moderately jealous of on the iPhone is the Google Voice Search feature. Pretty impressive.
What's the nearest equivalent on WinMo?
Bing in the UK does not have the voice search option, but I believe the US does.
Voice Search
I download the USA version of Bing through Microsoft website and it works fine with voice search. Still brings UK results. SO far havent noticed any problems with it.
Version im using is Bing 5.0.11249.0
thanks - I'll give it ago and post back with results...
cheers
UPDATE: I can't find the link! A little help?!

Good luck.
I had an HD2 flashed with DFT stock WP7 ROM and loved it so much I went out to get a dedicated WP7 device...
But when I had the DFT ROM when I did a bing search, say for 'pizza', it would show me the local pizza shops, show their location and navigate me there...
With my Quantum, when I bing search pizza it's more like google search, simply bringing up web links to all the big pizza franchises' websites...
What's going on?
so you also shouldnt have voice search...
its language and regional setting, set to uk or us, restart and you should be good to search...
just today i was wondering if it might be possible to change the settings by registry keys,
like stick to your original region & language
but enable voice search, local search + waypoints, bing trivia and all those nice little features....
Worked a treat... Thanks...
For those of you who are wondering why Bing Map shows only the "Current Position" button and not the other features like "Search whats near by", "Navigation" etc., just change your Region on your phone to "US" or "UK" or any country other than India or the currently selected one. You can do this by Home->Settings->Region+Language->Region Format. Go to Maps again and you'll find all the features waiting to be used by You.. By doing this, You'll also start getting some "Boxes" on the wall paper when you press the Search Button which will take you to Bing Search. Once you press the Box, you'll notice some interesting information about the wall paper you're seeing...
Always a great tip. People familiar with the platform are well aware of this, but newer people wouldn't be.
I'm in Canada, so I solved the navigation problem by getting a Garmin GPS unit
However in some language interface this cannot be solved by just setting the search language to US/UK, e.g. Chinese (Traditional/Simplified), Korean and some East European languages like Czech, Polish etc.
Waiting for Microsoft to make the user interface on different languages a bit more fair.
