I dont know where to begin or what to do. Do I have to turn s-off? I just want my phone a little more snappy. Also, is it possibld to dual boot sense 3.0 and srock gingerbread?
You can either turn S-off, root your phone and then, with a file explorer like Root explorer or ES file, delete the apps you want to get rid off;
or you can set a temp root (there's plenty of things related to this in Dev section) and with the same way, delete your apps.
There's a much easier method. Still requires S-OFF, but you don't have to do it manually.
WARNING: THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. PLEASE ONLY PROCEED IF YOU ARE SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS.
Firstly, get S-OFF with AlphaRevX's Revolutionary tool. Let it flash ClockWorkMod Recovery as well. Then flash this file in recovery to achieve root. Once done, reboot into Android (it's still the stock ROM). You then need to go into the Market and install an app called ROM Manager. Give it Superuser rights (Superuser is the front end for root). Then, right at the top, you have an option: Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery. Choose this option, select your phone model (HTC Sensation, only one in the list). It will now flash a new ClockWorkMod that's generally better than the one you flashed and used before hand.
Next, you need to install a custom ROM. This is still Sense (for now, it won't be at the end of this guide!). The custom ROM is called Android Revolution HD. This ROM is really fast, very optimized, and generally a great ROM. Download it and flash it through ClockWorkMod Recovery (reboot into ClockWorkMod by choosing Reboot into Recovery option in ROM Manager). Remember to do a nandroid backup by using the backup/restore option in ClockWorkMod.
The maker of this ROM also makes a Script called No Sense. Here's the post all about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14191947&postcount=2
Once the ROM has finished flashing, stay in recovery (it is essential you stay in ClockWorkMod Recovery) and flash the No Sense script I mentioned earlier. Once the No Sense script has flashed, you can reboot.
You should now be bloatware free! This is still a Sense ROM, but it removes Sense. Unfortunately, Pure Gingerbread and CyanogenMod aren't available yet, but I should think they will be soon.
Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any questions, it is quite complicated
Much like everyone else here, I've successfully S-OFFed and rooted my Sensation. I am perfectly happy with stock Sense, so the first thing I wanted to do is get rid of crap like TeleNAV, Slacker, and other bloatware that has an annoying habit of running in the background. Using Root Manager, which has worked for me successfully on my previous phones, I uninstalled the apk and, where applicable, the odex files for all the bloat apps that I wanted to remove, cleared the cache, and rebooted the phone. To my surprise, not only did the app icons still appear in the app drawer, but the associated apps still opened and ran!
I am not exactly new to rooting, and have successfully removed bloatware from other phones. I am not really interested in flashing a custom ROM at this point. Short of that, any suggestions?

I am in the same boat as you, if the apps are still open and there, whats the point in even rooting? I like Sense 3.0 and I think my phone is fast enough after a fresh reboot, I just want it to be almost as fast by the time my battery dies 20-25hours later and I was hoping deleting or freezing all those background apps I don't use should help with this.
I don't want to dual boot if it's not stock gingerbread or cyanogenmod and I really like sense 3.0 for some reason. All I want do is get rid of all these boat ware and make it as much of such sense that I can, but it looks like you guys are having a lot of trouble
Has anyone been able to successfully remove bloatware after rooting and S-OFFing their Sensations? Any assistance will be appreciated.
***UPDATE: I installed Titanium Backup and used it to remove the bloatware. Worked like a charm!

Can anyone confirm this?!
i can confirm this works, have had bloatware of my choice removed for over a week through Ti backup and it works perfectly... never had any problems... I got the tip from reading the suggestions in insertcoin rom's op (thanks baad)... some people have had apps reappearing using root explorer but not with Ti... and you know its working because if you keep track of your memory on there you can watch it increase as you delete the apps..
+1 for using titanium never had a problem
Tried Titanium, did the trick.
Also used Titanium to trash the bloat!
Do we have a list of applications that are SAFE to remove with Titanium backup? I don't want to mess it up. I had to BORROW a computer to even root my phone so can't risk bricking it.
Yes, but you may need to buy the pro key to acces that feature, choose batch then you'll see a list of choices to run
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using XDA App
I meant like for my previous phone Xperia there was a list of apps that are safe to remove on wiki page. I didn't find this for Sensation so I wonder if there is a list somewhere else. On xperia I was using Root uninstaller from Market to unistall.
There was a thread a while back that summarized what could be removed:
[GUIDE] Disabling system/bloatware apps using temp root
Thanks! The thread talks about disabling, not removing though. I take it no more harm can be done by removing right?
Hey guys i just rooted my one X on rogers and I want to now be able to remove all the bloatware for ever a smoother faster experience. My question now is what can I remove safely. I already removed the rogers apps but now i'm at a blank. Can you guys please help me out
thanks guys
I would take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634171 at the end of the first post they have a list of files to remove for Rogers and AT&T.

If there are any apps you want to remove, but nervous about doing so, you can freeze them with Titanium Backup (PRO version), and see if it causes any problems.
I apologize if this is the inappropriate forum since it's in regards to a single app. I'm brand new to Android and rooting in general. I have flashed by phone to Synergy ROM and wanted to restore my apps & data using TiBu. I had rooted my phone and set all my backups with TiBu, IMEI, and CMW. I did not remove any bloatware after rooting my phone as I was planning to rely on Synergy to debloat the phone. This is where I get confused...
If I restore my phone using the TiBu backup I made previously, will it REBLOAT my phone with all the CRAP that synergy had gotten rid of? AKA, do I need to debloat my phone before backing it up in order to restore without bloat?
If I must debloat my phone manually, can someone explain to me why I would want to freeze over uninstall an item? Also do I freeze/uninstall per PROGRAM or per .APK (pack)? I'm still a but confused as to what to freeze, what to uninstall, and if I want to uninstall a program, the .apk, or what??
Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thanks in advance!

You can pick and choose which apps to restore with titanium backup As far as freezing over uninstalling, freezing just well 'freezes' the app on your phone, it'll no longer show up in the app drawer or function at all, uninstalling will actually take it off your phone. By freezing you can defrost it at anytime if you encounter problems or need it. You freeze and uninstall per APK, in titanium you'll see all the apps you have installed both in your system memory and data memory (system apps, are usually more important and are installed with the rom) (data apps are anything you've manually installed) As far as restoring after installing synergy, you probably only backed up users apps before and therefore won't restore any system apps.
Titanium will restore only what you have backed up. Removing bloat or freezing it is up to the user. I personally freeze what I don't want. If you freeze something by accident you need you can always defrost it. If you have removed something you may have to reflash the ROM to get it back. If you do decide to remove apps you don't want I suggest you make a folder on your external card and move them there with a program like root explorer or silimilar. That way you can put them back if wanted or needed.

A) Why not back everything up, then uninstall what you don't want and if something breaks or you decide later you need it restore from backup? Freezing seemed great when I was brand new to the phone but now that i know I won't break things I just uninstall but do have a back up. I'm not arguing, I'm honestly asking if I'm missing some advanatge to freeze/unfreeze vs backup/uninstall/reinstall.
B) If I backup apps on my stock TW, ICS SGS3 and then flash to say a JB non-stock, non-TW ROM do I have a reasonable expectation that I can restore the apps and they will function? I'm imagining not.
Maybe I'm asking the wrong questions... How do I know what I can and cannot uninstall with TiBu?
Example: If I want to use the digital clock widget, but not the analog clock widgets, and I delete the analog clock widgets, will this cause a problem with the digital clock widget? I heard some items share .APKs somewhere I think?
How am I supposed to know which services/appcs/processes are necessary to run gmail, mms, sms, etc?
How am I supposed to know what, say, EnterprisePermissions1.0 is? and if I can delete it or not? I guess a guide to what apps are safe to freeze/uninstall might help, if one exists...Could anybody link me to one?
Basically, I want to get rid of as much crap as possible that's draining the battery or eating up CPU cycles, that I never intend to use.
I also noticed in TiBu that my "call log" and "SMS & MMS" backups aren't checked, and I cannot check them to restore them...Why would this be? It's kinda a big deal to me to bring back my call and message logs.
Thanks again!
Bump...Could really use help decifering bloatware from useful and necessary items...AKA answer to the questions above.
Articles perhaps useful to you...
Anyone freeze their bloatware?
Applications Safe To Remove
i've searched and have not found an answer as to what this process/file does. I just recently noticed this process in my SGS3 GT-19300 (Unbranded/international). I have already froze it in Titanium Backup but i want to delete it, before i delete it i need to know if it's a needed file. I'm in southeast asia and my carrier provider is not orange.
Does anyone know what this file is for?
AW: com.orange.authentication.simcard.permission 1.0?
I believe it's for the orange api and services, but that won't explain why it's there...
If it's frozen and you haven't faced any problems then back it up and delete it. Or keep the frozen app. Custom Roms won't include this app in there preinstalled app list in case you wanna flash.
Huawei Prism U 8651T running Android 2.3.6
1. Yes I have read similar threads -they are about adding stuff or running new ROMS - I want to remove stuff and run stock ROM
2. Somewhat familiar with Linux . not so much android even tho linux based. Took the test and yes I think it's do able.
3. Yes found rootuing howto on my device on these forums
some questions before I root. all files on my Linux box are readable whether roor or not. Just can't modify unless root. I was reading files on android and they are locked down with encrypted looking stuff like when reading Windows files.
1. Will I be able to remove/disable factory installed google and t-mobile stuff or do they have it lockd down to where even if I'm root I can't do it.
2. howto says phone must be unlocked first - other s say no
3.Some howtos claim rooting should be done with non-active sim card - true?
** I understand that many services rely on google and tmobile apps but they are killing my battery and I can't force stop them ( they just relaunch in a few minutes - and I don't want or need all that cloud syncing junk***
Thanks for any help
Well, you do know what you want, so rooting is probably your thing, and yes you can delete T-Mobile apps and services and other things you might want to remove, including Google apps. Just be careful and don't delete google services like GmsCore.apk, Contacts etc. Maps, Google+ and all that stuff are safe to remove.
Most apps are located in /system/apps, but there are also some apps in /data/apps. Be careful when you delete system apps, so you might want to install Recovery while you're at it so you can make a NAND backup (backup of your ROM) in case something goes wrong, or you want to return to stock once you're on a custom ROM.
I can't give you an answer on the rest of the questions, since some of them might be device specific things, so i don't want to tell you something wrong.

Well not sure EXACTLY what I want but basically I want a phone that acts lke a phone and not all the social media cruft and "ALWAYS ON" junk running in the background. And if I do need it I will turn it on and off myself.
Thanks for the tips. I will begin posting oin the appropriate forum.
