WM5/WM6 has build in on-screen keyboard which works OK when typing in English.
Now lets say I activated another "Locale" in registry to be able to type in e.g. Russian (0419).
Now I can type in Russian, but ... if I look at on-screen keyboard, it has no russian characters It has some weird characters instead.
So ... is there any way to do this ... when I'm typing using on-screen keyboard and I change language, that on-screen keyboard layout will change accordingly and display Russian characters layout ?
I know about Resco keyboard, but it is kind of heavy and consumes a lot of resources. I'm looking for lighter solution
what would be more interesting to switch it completely ... say an english rom with a russian keyboard instead of the english one.
Well ... when I click two buttons to change between English and Russian layout in hardware keyboard, it would be nice that soft-keyboard will display proper symbols TOO.
I think MuNs keyboard has something I need, but I believe it is bundled with numeric keypad (where you dial phone numbers)
Hi guys,
I've just downloaded Swype for my HTC HD2 on your website, and I have to say, it's really amaizing.
There is one problem, I speak french, but I use the german keyboard... qwertz one, and what I would like to know it's : is it possible to use French Dictionnary and use german keyboard ?!?
If we can, could you show me how ? because it's really difficult to use french keyboard, letters "z", "q", "y" or even "m" are not at the same place...
Thanks very much for your help !

This is exactly what you need!
Keyboard from Android 2.3 + v1.0.12
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin&feature=search_result
# How to use this keyboard:
1. Enable it in the "Settings / Language & keyboard / Gingerbread Keyboard"
2. Find a text input (mail app or message app), long press the text view.
3. When the popup comes up, select "Input method" and choose gingerbread keyboard.
* How to install optional dictionaries: Go to "Gingerbread Keyboard Settings" / "Input languages", select (re-select) the language you want. You can also download the language pack from the Android Market also.
Special thanks to Zorxd from XDA for fr-rCH language support!
this is not really what I was expeting...
I would like to change keyboard layout with Swype...
The Gingerbread keyboard is very slick, but the Spanish prediction is driving me mad when it comes to accented vowels.
For example, let's say I want to type the word "salí" (with an accent), as in "I went out".
I tap out the letters s - a - l - i (no accent).
If I'm using the HTC_IME, I get the following suggestions:
Sali Salí Dalí Salir
The correct choice, "Salí", is selected by default. It gets placed on the text field if I simply press the spacebar.
If I'm using the Gingerbread keyboard, I get the following suggestions:
Sali Salud Salida Saludé Salu2
If I scroll to the right I get about 3 more groups of suggestions, none of which is "Salí". And yes, I have already typed out "Salí" manually to make sure it's in the dictionary...
Any ideas? If I could simply make the Gingerbread prediction work like the one in HTC_IME I would be happy.
Thanks
Hello,
I am looking for how can I add Turkish language to android keyboard. I can found Turkish support in the "input list" but it says that "not available".
When I select Turkish from input list, I can see Turkish indicator on the keyboard but not available.
How can fix this problem?
Nexus S i9023 - 2.3.4 Stock Rom without root.
No answer, i guess no solution to do this?
Not really but here is some info:

I'm using polish language on my chacha. When i write sms i see in notification bar information that xt9 En is enabled. So that everything i write in polish is underlined. I just hate it. Is there any possibility to remove that spell checking? or somehow use polish one? there is no configuration for this under menus i guess. Or I'm just serching in wrong one ;/
i'm on 1.52 with s-off and @fullbring_v2_eu
go to settings -> language & keyboard -> touch input -> hardware keyboard settings -> prediction (un-check this option)
Nah, i'm not talking about text prediction.
What i mean is that i have prediction off but english spellcheck is on underlining my polish words, as they don't exist in english dictionary. And under menu you mentioned, there is no option to disable it, or change dict language.
Yea, im having similar issue. Im using EU global rom.
Until today my language for typing messages was "Eng" (when you start typing message you will see small square on right side in notification bar, next to clock saying "Eng") and i was typing normally, without any issues.
Today i had OTA update of my ChaCha and my typing settings changed to "Eng xT9." Since im using Serbian language to type my messages it pointless to say that my every word gets underlined in red as incorrect word since it was not in english dictionary.
Its pretty much annoying to see your complete message underlined in red, and its lowering visibility of letters. Is there any way to disable "xt9" or change to normal "Eng?"
I found semi-solution. I installed Smart Keyboard from market and used it as default input method, and disabled all predictions spell corrections etc. it is not showing up with touch buttons and running in background so you can use your hardware keyboard as usuall.
hope it helped
I have the same problem, Azerty hardware keyboard and my language is installed in Dutch really annoying that every word is underlined!
so i have this problem too...i am coming from austria and we are using the htc chachas frequently for email checking and answering...
is there any solution now to solve this problem...i have also showing up the xt9 EN logo on the notification bar and i can't get away the red underline on each word.
i am using 1.54 with S-OFF
Can you guys perform a small check?
Set your phone's language to your country and start typing again. I have a hunch that xt9 is activated automatically by the ROM in the phone's language.

nope, already tried this...
switched from german (doesn't matter if i choose austrian, german or swiss version) to english and back again....
i think only in the original s-on country locked 1.18 version was a spellcheck for german, this was also the only version which hast the right qwertz keyboard.
now with cid 1111111 and original 1.54 there is no qwertz keyboard (even if i choose german language) and also no german spellcheck...
ok i can deactivate the dictionary funktion, but the spellcheck which underlines every word in red, i can't....
can you find out, which file does this spellcheck, so i just can delete it or do whatever it takes, to stop working.... i don't want a german spellcheck or a dictionary, i just want it to stop underlining f#####g words P
Is this available on the stock ROM?
Menu -> Settings -> Locale and text -> keypad -> XT9 [ ]
Tick XT9 for predictive text. Then go into XT9 advanced settings and fiddle about. There are tick boxes for Spell correction and so on.
