[REQ] Bluetooth issue fix that currently impairs wiimote connectivity? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Don't know how many on here have messed with Pikipirs' wii mote controller ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672884 ), but it absolutely owns. Especially for classic gaming using Yongzh's emulators. It'll ESPECIALLY own when combined with said emulators, and the TV out capabilities of our humble little Doubleshot. =)
Problem being, no sense-based ROMs work due to issues detailed here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676212
It's way over my head. Any devs on here working on ROMs for our phones think they might be able to give their roms what the wii remote controller app would need?
Prior to his vacation it seems that Pikipirs was working very hard on figuring it out. He hasn't even posted anywhere since he got back from his vacation =(. Hopefully that just means he's busy still working on finding a solution, and hasn't given up. But if there's a way to fix the issue whilst developing some of the ROMs that will be posted here, I'm all ears and would very happily donate some skrilla to anyone able to make the wii remote app work with their roms and said emulators =)

I'd like to know as well. I've been playing The Ocarina of Time on my phone, but I need something more precise for the arrow/sling shot challenges

I will look into the issue.

I keep accidentally hitting "Thank" instead of "quote" still not used to any option being left of the "quote" option lol.
But tell me about it. Ever tried playing the latter levels of Battletoads with the physical keypad? =) It's nearly impossible in the first place much less without a PROPER gamepad lol

Thanks man =) Your senseless ROM with wii mote support would be TRUELY ideal as it would pair all of the best things together in one ROM =)
To have the camera (and quick settings, they've defintiely grown on me) AND wii mote connectity in the same ROM, well, words can not describe how perfect that ROM would be ha ha =)

[Q] Possible FroYo w/Sense?

I know that the Wildfire has a different resolution than our phones, but, seeing as they are discussing porting it from the Legend, and that phone is similar to ours, can it be done?

Possible but ALOT of porting. A whole different framework.
And next time post in the right section please. THERE is a Q&A section

Just curious but would porting the new desire be easier? It seems closer to the Hero and it has 2.2 with Sense

Well brother keep on going I will try to catch up with you after work and see where your at with it maybe compare notes, I was just playing with it last night to see where we would stand with something like this. Still think the legend will be the one to port though. as the graphic work required for this alone would be a monster job.
Glad to see someone else interested in bring froyo to the hero.

Shouldn't adjusting the pixel density make the items show up correctly on screen?
It would effectively cut the resolution on our Heroes, though.
And of course, the Legend would be the easiest port, but the since it's not out yet, we have the option of making do with the Wildfire or standing pat. (Not that I'd accuse any devs of that, seeing as this port looks hard as hell).

There is not one that I have ever seen. What errors are you getting? How are you installing the software? What Software are you using?
I am running 40+ games and like 6 Snes games. (only ones I Own) Without issue.
all psx (ps1) emulators
Im having problems with all psx emulators on pretty much every custom ROM on the inspire except the stock ROM and cleardroid no matter how i download them.
Ide especially like to be able to run the emulators with an overclocked kernel so there isnt any lag.

Sounds more like a issue with the emulator more then the rom. As far as a gaming rom there isn't one, but the rom's that are going to typically run games a little better are the more vanilla roms. Like cm7 aosp. Sense takes quite a bit of memory.

btw, i managed to get over 200fps with all the advanced video options turned on at an 1.8 overclock. it was like playing in fast foward! lol

There really isn't a rom that you can turn it off then turn it back on. Sense is a ui overlay put out by htc, that is contained in quite a few apps and framework. Though there are some Sense themed launchers you can find floating around. If you flash cm7 or asop, you can't really turn sense on, though you can switch launchers.

When does it stop, what are you after?

I've been running CM7 for over 2 months now and I have stopped coveting any new roms, or any tweaks at all. I came to Android from iPhone when the Dell Streak came out and I was obsessed with what new things I could do with it. I couldn't wait for DJSteve or someone to tweak it some more. I came to Infuse with that same motivation and flashed and flashed and flashed whatever folks came out with just to try it. Then I got CM7 and only waited a short time for some small kinks to be ironed out and I can't think of anything I want my phone to do (although having less shutter lag on the camera would be great). So, with IOS you have the same OS for a year or so and get some improvements, but with XDA and the awesome DEVS you really get all kinds of options.....So here I am, extremely happy with my phone, rarely checking XDA for anything new and I'm wondering..........what "more" do you want? ..........

+1 on the Bluetooth .. would be SWEET if someone can ever get it working.
On another side, also with CM7 .. for the Infuse, fix the front-facing camera resolution issue .. this camera ain't 640x480 only !!!
I want it ALL THE WORLD.....
The world is not enough...
Bluetooth would be nice. I'd also like to see some real 4G. I know it is in certain places, and it has nothing to do with the developers...
Hoping when gingerbread is finally released officially for our phones, maybe we will see some small improvements... but like you said... there's not much besides the tiny tweaks... and maybe.... getting them to fly .... haha
EDIT: OH YA!! I almost forgot the most important thing... I would like to see reliable working GPS... I have tried all the tricks I could find and it takes soooo long to get a lock and when I finally do.... suddenly I am a mile off course... Samsung GPS.... tisk... tisk

Part of the fun of Android is that you have the choice. You can take something and be perfectly happy with it like cm7 and run with it, or you can push on to the limits and invent new things as you go. That's the beauty though is that it's up to you, not the company releasing it, not the community, not your mom. It's YOUR choice how far you take it.

I'll be happy when I can get a ROM that will connect to a PS3 controller and be able to output HDMI video. After that, I'll probably stop checking XDA altogether except once every few weeks for an ICS ROM.

[Q] Are Most Of These ROMs A Waste? What Do You Think?

*I did not make this thread to discredit, discourage or bash any devs, I am simply asking for opinions on a subject that dawned on me recently. Please speak freely and non biasly. Thanks!*
OK guys, here goes. I've been experimenting with alotta ROMs lately, mostly ICS. In time I've realized that we never have the features that we paid for, mainly 1080p recording. If the phone doesn't oporate the way we paid for it to (And I paid full price) then is it not a waste to flash the ROM?
I love the speed and battery efficiency I get from the devs and I'm blown away by the amount that they've accomplished, but I've been recently contemplating falling back to stock simply because I'll have the awesome camera. I'd even settle for a top notch Sensation ROM. I know this sounds like a complainer thread, but I've been really losing morale with this device. It seems there will be no more hard KB devices so I might defect to a One S or wait for a One S equivalent from T-mobile. What do you guys think?
I will never give up my keyboard. You leave if you like. And these custom roms are supposed to give our phone something it would've never had otherwise. A functioning ICS rom. If you can't live without everything working, then you should stick to stock or stock tweaked. (I can't use 1080p even if it was working. Don't have a fast enough card )
Rom building and compiling takes a lot of time and effort, not to mention skill.
Essentially, these fine devs are doing the work HTC and T-Mobile were never going to do. Lazy greedy scum they are

I personally don't think that it's a waste to flash these ROMs. Mainly because IMO (aside from 1080p recording) we're really getting more than what we paid for if you think about it. All the features that are available with ICS alone would have made this device more expensive to begin with off the shelf. Then add features of CM9 that these devs are cooking into the ICS ROMs or the features of Sense/ICS ROMs combined together...I think we it's a great thing what's been accomplished.
If 1080p recordning is the main thing you really want then I'd follow the previous suggestion and flash stock or go with a modded stock ROM. There will be no defecting for me. I love physical keyboards! I use mine daily in one way or another.
Even if it comes to the point that nothing on this device is supported anymore I will have this phone lol. We have enough to be used as DDs. So all in all for me, I don't think these ROMs are a waste to flash/use.

This is why I use Bulletproof. It has everything we paid for, and is much more stable and optimized than the stock rom. I would love to have an ICS rom, but I want everything to work on my phone. This is my choice. I am happy with using a GB rom, because my phone does everything I want it to. If it isn't broke don't fix it.

I'm sorta in the same boat as OP. I've flashed everything and found camera limitations with all of them, so I'm really waiting a 1080p fix with flawless camera otherwise before I go back to ICS. I really love how far everything has come this year in terms of development and it's much appreciated, but I don't plan on going back to an ICS ROM without a fully functioning camera. I have an 19 month year old son and just can't risk it!
My dream is ICS with Sense, but even just for a nice camera fix, I think I'd be okay without Sense.
Running Mik in the meantime. Bulletproof was nice except for the green tint to everything.
Hoping for a camera fix soon. Wallet will be opened then!

I am in north carolina, my dev computer is in pennsylvania. I bought yogi's doubleshot, he doesn't have one anymore.
I don't know what I have, but whatever it is it's hundreds of miles away and wholly unavailable.
If you want to host the UV kernels, they were made by yogi, but I'm sure it'll be okay - only issue is no sources, so...?
If it's kosher to link them up here, then feel free to host them and make a thread for it if you want, I have no issue with it, if it'll help someone that's what's important.
Just make sure to credit yogi, and make sure to be explicit about no support from the authors. I'm not quite in a position to do so yet with my new job, still absorbing a lot of data and training, so my brain and body are worn and exhausted after my shift ends in the morning.
I'll bring this to yogi's attention, or at least ask about it, but I don't see an issue with sharing it, provided the two requests I made above are filled.
Sent from a digital distance.
Oh, not gonna quote the whole OP yet again in the thread on page 1... But...
Op - if you feel something is lacking, you are in the place to give you the best shot at figuring out how to make it do what you want.
As far as getting all the features you paid for, well, you paid htc or tmobile, or a little of both, or you bought it secondhand, but the money was originally collected by one or both of those entities. If you use the software they provide, then you get what you paid for.
Using an alternate software version, like what you find here, actually gives you much more then what you paid for it - for you paid nothing, and got a whole lot in return.
You can jump in and help the active devs solve problems, or wait until they do, but the argument about getting whatever value you invested real money into evaporates the moment you flash any non-stock OS.

New Years Day (Early Morning??) 2010, I did that. Got so Dr. Pepper in the end
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2
Heck, I've got a computer. Why can't we just upload it to a share site with permission, of course. If this is the same same Yogi from the G2 section, I remember him and he was a nice guy. I doubt he'd mind with proper credit. Let me know if I can help. I'm still settling in here and am a newb as far as the Doubleshot goes. I'd love to support this device with whatever can like I try to do with all my devices. Just looking for what needs to be done/or something helpful that's not too much beyond my expertise or time lol! I am a bit concerned and confused on the framework variations between ICS and GB but I can pick it up as I go. I've only run 2 ICS roms between two devices so I have a lot of reading to do. Well, my computer is here if y'all need it. Feel free to pm me if anyone needs it or if I can help.

To be fair, I never used this feature before I flashed CM9, and I continue to not need it. Cameras, to me, are just a bonus. I just want a faster phone with better battery life.

[Q] Who's still using their Sidekick?

The subject line says it all....
I have been using my Note 2 and Nexus 4, but threw my SIM back into my SK4G this weekend. I missed this keyboard! I just wish it had a better camera with a flash. I can live with everything else on the device. Though, a newer version of Android would be nice...

I still use it as my main...and only...device. Hahaha! I will be getting a Zeki Jelly Bean 4.1.1 tablet soon for my multimedia content. I already found out how to root it and make it look like a Nexus 7. Why not get a Nexus 7 you may ask? Lack of a microsd card slot. I'll be getting a 32 Gigger with it.
Anyway, I agree. It would be nice to see something other than Froyo on this thing. I'll be moving to AT&T later this year and getting myself either a Nexus or LG Optimus, I'm sure by that time there will some nice Key Lime Pie phones....I won't get a Galaxy after being burned by Sammy.

Yeah. The Nexus is nice. I like it much better than the Note 2. Still, there are times when a physical keyboard is an absolute must...I wonder how bhundven is doing.
I just started repairing one my friend had. Seems it has a power issue and I am following some instructions I saw somewhere here.
Still using it atleast till this xmas when I can switch carries an not have to pay 600 to remove one of 3 lines
I love the keyboard but I wish they would update it as I seen "it was sopose to get 2.3" but never happened
I just hope they get the cm6/7 running would be really nice

Waiting for EMS package with a device, that should replace Sidekick for me... Should get it this week. Too bad, but it seems like this phone has no future.
I use my sk4g at home connected to WiFi while my amaze4g charges sometimes also I use It to stream video on ustream as a stationary camera occasionally.

My contract runs until Christmas, so I'm stuck with this phone. It was a decent phone for its time, but its time is way past. I can't believe T-Mo never updated it to GB. I will never buy another phone from them again.
BTW @RicAndroid thanks for continuing to put out ROMs for this phone. I guess once you get your tablet we won't see anything else for the SK4G from you, eh?
Well...I'm hoping Dizzle1 from androidforums lends a hand with creating a new kernel. If that happens, I'll release a combination of all the roms into a new version of Glorious Overdose. Ay0teddy deserves more than to have his classic rom remain in limbo.
The tablet will be just for multimedia content. Movies and ebooks look horrible on the SK4G. I only plan to root it to add Google Play and Nova Launcher.

To put it simply, if Dizzle1 manages to make this happen, I'll make Glorious Overdose my main project.
If it doesn't happen, then I'll polish up minor stuff with my current roms and call it quits. Not much else left to do with KJ2, y'know?

Let's hope for great things. I still hope bhundven comes through as well. Is Dizzle1 on xda?

I'm still using mine. I only got it in January. It replaced my bricked Milestone 2 for a reasonable price, I love the design and if it wasn't for Froyo I'd want for nothing else.
Unfortunately, it is stuck with Froyo and I'm getting annoyed. But:
I didn't want to fork out the big bucks for an imported Relay 4G when it had a shonky-looking keyboard.
Motorola's qwerty line stops GSM support after the Milestone 2 which is only slightly better off in the ROM department than SK4G.
And there are no other pleasant or modern QWERTY options for Australia. So here I am!
(Also I love the girly magenta and no other woman in Perth is gonna whip out a Sidekick 4G. It was never even sold in Aus. I feel special!)

Yeah, the keyboard is awesome! Froyo is not so great. Though, the biggest gripe I have with it is that I can't use Chrome on it. Otherwise, I love the phone.
OK, I'm done, no more Sidekick for me.
Yes, it's not a phone, and yes, it's a strange gaming tablet, but I guess it would fit my needs, while Sidekick would be just a phone and WiFi access point.
Hope you guys would get something better than Froyo one day. I'm out of here, goodbye.

I'm planning on doing the same thing when I get my tablet, djh. It has Jelly Bean and I already figured out how to root it.
Anyway...thanks for your contribution and take care!

Just bought it from one of your betrayer for 20 bucks. Nice phone. I do not hate froyo, it is just the slow response bored me.
Also, the keyboard is not as fast as soft keyboard in note 2.
But for 20 bucks, I have no complain.

20 bucks you go a serious deal as this phone still goes for 100
An yes froyo is slow but the new nexus roms make is seem like no lag (atleast to me)

Wow I thought I got off cheap paying 60 for mine, it is flawless though, you would think its new.
Even if I would have know that there were only froyo ROMs for this phone ahead of time I still would have bought it, yes we need to move ahead, this phone is plenty capable of running even jb, but we need talent who has time to do so....

New Sidekick User
Hey everyone, I just got one for my girlfriend off ebay a few weeks ago, and everyone here in the subforum has been super helpful! I also got a second one for $50 that was broken with the reboot-power-button loop problem which I have about 60% fixed (using a TON of rubbing alcohol..).
I have to say, it is an odd little phone when it comes to hacking/rooting... My main phone is a Galaxy Exhibit 4G, which has its oddities as well, but the more I mess with this glitchy Sidekick the more I like it. My girlfriends phone is running RicAndroid's neXus JB 1.22, and so far so good. My Sidekick is running rooted and updated stock rom, for two reasons...
1) I can't seem to get CWM to stick without modifying the kernel as well
2) I really like the funky "urban" stock rom's style...
I wish there were a blend of all the features of JB with the look and feel of stock... That, or a functioning Bootmanager, so I could dual boot between stock and custom roms!

Sad times, 4.2.2 really isn't all that great, only real benefit to new phones are bigger screens and faster processors. Most of the features in 4.2.2 have 3rd party apps that mirror the new "features" if not improve on them. If you know of a 4.2.2 Android with a physical keyboard this big you let me know! Until getting one of these phones recently, I had forgotten the sheer joy of using a REAL keyboard!
