do You consider yourself a Flashmaniac?? - General Topics

Hello guys... do you consider yourself a flashmaniac?? i personally consider myself
i guess i change of ROM every 2 days just because i feel that sensation xD
what about you guys? how often change of ROM? and Why?
lets make the thread funny xD

Me,too!!
But so many nice ROM for Desire HD.
Very hard to stay on just one ROM.
I love LeeDroid and Virtuos unity very much!!

Hmm, hard to tell. I've been using ARHD 5.11 for some time now. I removed sense and installed ADW Launcher ex. But I haven't flash anything for the last 2 months because I don't want the hassle to adjust the phone (again) to my needs and preferences. Even if you backed-up everything you always need to spent quite some time to make it perfect again.
So the conclusion is: I like the new roms to explore them (like you have a new phone) but it's to much of a hassle to set them up to perfection. I'm a medium flashmaniak...

Lol, all the time. What I did everyday is backup my rom, flash a new Rom. Satisfied? Stay on it. Dislike? Revert back, lol

Hi my name is bluizzo and I'm a recovering flash addict used to flash a rom almost every day, but not a big fan of sense roms. On my madre's mt4g I'd flash a bunch of ish, but left her to CM nightly

Not me, I only flash a new ROM when I see a feature that I need, it's just that I see a feature that I need every other day, so really It's not my fault at all

Am a flashmaniac that's why I get bootmanager

I can stop when I want to!

Yes, I am an addict. I tried to stop flashing roms, but its hard.

I'm the same. The missus hates my phone addiction. I normaly stick with the same rom but flash a new one play with it for a while then restore to a backup. I'm on ArHd at the mo.

reasonably often, just been trying to find the right rom
although i'm fairly happy with rcmix runny....

I flash quite a lot too. But I like to keep an eye on roms for the rom list on my site.
If a rom has a different look or something a little fresher than the norm, then I like to take screenshots of it for others to see so they can decide whether to change or not.
So yeah, I suppose I'm a Flashmaniac.

I leave my main rom alone for up to 2 months at a time but using boot manager i try out 1 or 2 roms a week, if i see the right feature set i then flash it as my main rom so yeah probably a flashaholic.

gotta check xda every alternate day hoping to download a new rom... addicted

seems as many of us have the same addiction, i personally every flash i make i full wipe without backing up, so that way i feel as if i have a brand new phone xD
i flash almost every two days, i have tried to stop but its impossible, i know understand to other people's addict to something xD

its nothing wrong in searching best rom for device.
Personally V9 + Runny v1.2 is the best combination

I have to restrain myself from messing with my phone. I am quite happy with the current rom. But will be trying MIUI once in a while to see how the development has progressed.

ROM Flashing

So Last Night I Finally Got Around To Flashing To 2.2 and i must say if u havent! Do it! The phone is noticably faster and working way better. Thought i would share this wit people who are scared or woundering if they should or should not! And i Say Go For It!
Oh and question for every one out there on these custom roms will the new marketplace update it self or do i have to install the new apk???
It should do it on its own
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I'm actually still on 2.1
It's a combination of not being able to get to my desktop all the time if I ever have to use odin (travel), the assumption that stock rom gets better battery life, and not knowing which rom to flash =p
I will make the jump to 2.3 in a heartbeat though when we (they) are able to have the radio work... Which I believe will be soon

Opinions on Sense 3.0 roms

Hey guys I have a few questions about the 3.0 sense roms out there.
What are your guys experiences with these roms? Are they stable? Is 3.0 too much for the Inspire? And is it worth it? And if you would recommend a sense 3.0 rom, which one would it be?
Thank you for your answers
I've only tried Virtuous Unity so i cant speak on Kingdom. I think it was pretty stable, not a whole lot of lag except the 3D effect when switching homescreens was a little bit laggy but nothing that would make you notice (i did) but all in all it is great. Try one of them out you'll love it.
I've been on Virtuous Unity since 1.25 was released and haven't had any problems at all. I'm new to android and have only flashed 3 roms on my Inspire but from what I've read VU might be the best Sense 3.O rom for the Inspire. The extras you get like the lockscreen controls and built in task manager are pretty good and I use them often. Also VU 1.26 was just released earlier today which should improve an already great rom. Give it a try for yourself and see how you like it but I think you will love it.
I've used RCMix3D the last few days, and it works flawlessly. The weather sound effects are annoying as hell, but I think you can remove them. I haven't had any lag on that ROM at all.
Thanks for the responses guys. I'm about to root for the first time ever, and I was really looking forward to having the very cool sense 3.0 on my phone. One more question, is general call quality, sms, and gps pretty solid on these roms?
I just rooted a few days ago and instantly flashed the RCMix3D ROM. All of those things are flawless on that one, but there is an audio fix on that thread if you need it. Takes about 10 seconds to flash it.
Cool sounds great, off to read the how-to's I guess lol
Lol almost forgot, is battery good with these roms as well?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Good luck! When I did it, it took me about 4 hours, plus flashing the ROM. I had some issues with flashing first off, but it was only cause I didn't do a full wipe. Make sure you do that if your ROM requires it!
How can I make sure I do a full wipe? Will it ask me?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Put this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868720
And your ROM on your SD card. Make sure you backup your stuff, or just make a list of your apps, and then when you are done rooting, download ROM Manager. Go to "install ROM from SD card", and there will be an option to browse your SD card for the ROM. Browse to the full wipe zip file first, run it, and THEN flash your ROM. That's what I did, and it worked after the second try. If it gets stuck at all, what I did was remove the battery and hold down the bottom volume rocker while booting, then just use CWM to flash back to a backup or ROM.
Does the Rom you mentioned come with Google navigation? The app with the blue arrow icon.

Yes and yes and yes for me. Rock solid.
I've used rcmix and am currently on virtuous unity. Both are awesome, no issues with stability or anything like that and both have been smooth and fast. My battery life when the phone is idle is great, maybe 1% every 90 minutes. When using the device though, battery is used up about the same as stock, maybe a little better.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Which is typically more stable and better on battery life, VU, or RC Mix? I'm using RCMix but VU looks pretty sweet, if not very similar
Also a question concerning radios. When rooting will I need a special radio for these roms? I know nothing about radios, the hack kit mentions the stock att radio as a choice, do I need to download that or is it already on the phone and I just need to boot it up? Or do I even need to mess with the radios? After clockwork, superuser, and rom manager is installed can I just flash this rom or do I need to mess with the radio? I'm worried because it seems the radio is what will brick your phone.
CoreDroid v7 is pretty nice, but Virtuous is probably as good as it gets. Fantastic rom that you should definitely take a look at.

Why flash roms?

So I was just wondering why would we flash roms? I mean the current stock os is almost bug free + when flashing roms we are faced with some major bugs sometimes.
I know that we would have the choice to remove bloatware, cutomise status bar, and sometime oc. That's all nice but still I don't see why not leave it as is?
Please excuse my ignorance. I just came from a rooted Dinc w/ miui
And I wanna have a better understanding.
Thanks

For me it's the freedom to do with my phone what I want. These developers kick out some sweet features that we'll never see from a stock ROM, and they get us the latest software before the manufacturers. I bug here or there is well worth it for me, and if it's to bad you can always revert. If you prefer the stock experience, than by all means leave it alone. But me, I'm a tinkerer. Be it a car, truck, bike... or yes, even a phone, I can't leave well enough alone.
Because we can
To pick up chicks......I haven't met one yet that's not turned on by 48+ mflops!
Can't do that with stock.....
This might seem like an odd answer... I flash so I can have a standard interface on my phones. I've had a droid, droid x, and thunderbolt in the last year and a half (my company does some android development on in house apps for one of our clients, and we go through a lot of test phones). having something close to a stock interface minimizes the daily annoyances of moving between those phones.... which is why I use the aosp roms.

Wait, you came from a phone that you rooted and flashed MIUI on, but don't understand why others choose to not stay stock
Why??? that's not the correct question. The correct question is why not!

I'm in the same boat. I just can't figure it out.
Cuz girls dig guys who flash roms
Pretty simple, I get rid of most of the stock crap, my battery lasts 30 to 40% longer, and it allows some independence

I rooted mine so people that smoke too much crack could ask me why
For me? Customization and battery life.
Number 1 reason on the Thunderbolt ... I prefer AOSP/CM7 over Sense.

ROM's that run flawlessly?

As brief as possible:
A few weeks ago my girlfriend asked me to throw ICS on her phone, i'm just a novice when it comes to rooting but i mean it's all self explanatory.
The only problem i ran into was finding a working ICS rom. I didn't know what xda was till this was all over and done with.
So i flash ICS 4.03, a ROM that appeared to have everything working camera/youtube/facebook/ the works (and it all did work). It's all peachy until i get this text where she says the keyboards all laggy. She's tried tons of android market keyboards and nothing really solves her problem, and shes just been seeing her phone deteriorate.
I don't have access to her phone seeing as it's hers and all, but she's asked me to fix it this coming weekend, and i don't really want to give her back that old sense 2.1/ gingerbread stuff she had. But i also don't want to give her some super fancy ROM that this phone apparently can't handle. I've read all the ROM Q&A's but with out the phone with me i can't really try them all myself, and i can't know if don't try them myself.
So my question is which ROM runs the best on this phone and preferably isn't a downgrade from ICS, or at least is better than her old firmware. Or if there's a better ICS ROM with none of these issue's, but i've been hard pressed to find it.
Sorry if i was non specific.
I've had no problems with redemption 1.2.7 it is ics with a lot of customization.

Choose revelation if you like HTC sense and sense features. Choose cm 10.2 if you want stock android and something that is lighter and not as heavy as sense. If I were you, I would try revelation for a week, and then cm10.2 for a week, and compare the ROMs. By the way, cm10.2 has more free ram than revelation (624 mb on android1234567's ROM)

@ OP like said above, only u can decide. U mite get another 20 posts here split 50/50 for sense and 10.2 which makes this thread useless, Im one of the sense fans but what i would say is flash a 10.2 rom (dunno which one is most stable but id prob go albinoman) anyway use that for few days r week and then when TeamVenom release their sense 5 rom, flash that n see if u wana go back
(p.s i dont actually know when sense 5 will be released, i just assume it will be soon)
If you're a true flashologic, even when you chose one of them, you'll end up bouncing back and forth. We're never satisfied Although we can stick with a rom we find "almost perfect" for a good while, we end up bouncing and try different stuff. Some people go back to CM after navigating through sense roms for a while, others do the other way around.
In the end, only you will know which feels more comfortable or it's according to your needs.
PS - And don't worry, you don't have limited time to chose, just try them and decide when you feel like.
Well, I think CM doesn't look as good as Sense on sensation. It just looks like it wasn't made for it. Sense therefore looks perfect on it. I think it has to do with the round corners, the design etc... Just my opinion..
