So from what i've read i see that gtalk video should be installable on almost all 2.3.3 devices. So i'm running stock OTA 2.3.3, i've rooted it, got rid of bloat ect.
Tried xsmagical, as well as the basio ones. I get this error
"error sdcard/Gtalk_video_voice_XsMagical.zip status(0)"
I've tried deleting talk as well. then installing, no luck ..just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows answer. I've tried not rooting it and before bloat removal. I didn't user root explorer technique, much rather use clockwork. Any ideas?

Hello,
Well lastnight was somewhat productive. After hours of reading I finally decided I would try to root my evo 4g. Using Unrevoked, I rooted it. I then backed it up using Nandroid. I decided that I wanted to try the most recent version of the MIUI rom. I was able to get it on my phone but I've noticed that anytime I've tried to download something from market I get the following: Parse Error There is a problem parsing the package. Is there something else I need to flash or update? perhaps something on the phone doesn't match up with something on the rom? (sorry, in a hurry and best way to describe it at this time) Thanks alot!
Im new to this site. i got an eris that was rooted i think or was already updated to a 2.1 from the htc official update thats how i bought it im not with verizon i got cricket so the place i bought it from flashed it for me to cricket.
i really want my eris to run on a 2.2 rom like celbfroyo or something but heres my problem. i cant get the internet to work running a rom thats running on 2.2! my question is how can i get this problem solved???
i was reading forums on how to isntall custom roms and such and heres what i did...
i started off by downloading eris rooter followed the procedure on recovery i did a factory reset i wiped dalvik just basicly did what i was reading, then i installed kaosfroyo v39 on the recovery screen it successfuly installed i reboot it and i thought i had it.
everything was working fine phone calls even text messages except internet no internet at all i tried launching the browser and it would load but not do anything of course i did a backup so when i did a restore and went back to 2.1 my internet phone calls and text messages worked except my pic messages ive had this problem since i bought the phone
i know theres ways to get pic messages to work regardless even if my eris is flashed to cricket and i know i can get the internet to work on a custom 2.2 rom like kaos or celb etc but the question is how???
right now im successfuly running on xtrsense i got this rom to work by doing the same steps i mentioned above u know buy doing the wipes and such. xtrsense is running 2.1 which i dont like plus i still get no pic messages what am i doing wrong as far as me not having my internet working when running celbfroyo? is it not supported? or is it me???
if somone can help me with this i would highly appreciate it
thanks so much in advance
Hello, so after researching a lot about rooting, I finally tried it on my Motorola Charm. I backed up all the data before i rooted or altered anything. the problem is somehow the backups got corrupted. So my question is this, is it possible to re flash the OS without sending to the manufacturer? Its running 2.1. I had uninstalled some of the bloatware that came on it and motoblur, which i had assumed was safe to uninstall, guess not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
hmm....if you were able to root shouldn't you be able to use a similar method to flash the rom. Also think about doing a factory restore that should clear up anything that you added.
Ya. All i need is the 2.1 ROM for my phone. But for the life of me i cant find anyone who has it. And the kind people at Motorola are giving me the run around. So if anyone out there has the T mobile Motorola Charm 2.1 ROM then i would be forever grateful!!!
Thanks,
Sam
Problem solved. After hours of searching I finally found my ROM and just RSD flashed it. It was pretty simple and straight-forward.
I tried to update hosts file with the most current one using sgs tools like I always to do. I just loaded infused 2.2.3 today, it gives me an error that busybox is not installed. I tried installing from the market and it tells me that 2 versions are on the system. I tried running the update again and it still says busybox is not installed. I know it works on the infuse because I ran it on the stock rom all the time. Has anyone else had problems with busybox on an infused rom?

Not since the early v2 betas - some had a bad busybox install, but not any recent version.
Does logcat give any more details?

Try a clean flash.
I have two questions...
1. I had rooted my A2 when it was 2.3.5 and deleted a few apps. When the OTA update to 2.3.6 rolled around, I couldn't update because ATT is a grouch. Anyway, to solve that problem, I had to flash stock 2.3.5 back onto the phone removing root access and everything. I then proceeded to update to 2.3.6 which is fine. that's running stock as I type this. My question is, if I root it again on 2.3.6 (I know it's there...) and I freeze apps, when another OTA update rolls around, will I be able to update again? I don't want to have to flash it back to 2.3.6...(can I even do that yet?) so any help here would be appreciated.
2. I was out and about, and was looking at one of my friend's phones. She has this HTC HD2 running Android 2.3.3 AOSP. She uses ADWLauncher, etc etc. This is a Windows Phone, originally. That got me thinking...is there a AOSP version of Gingerbread for my A2? Without Blur? I'm kinda scared to do anything to it, because I want to be able to get ICS come July. Any tips here would help.
Sorry for not using the searchbar, I was just having trouble finding this info. Thanks guys!
1. Yes. Freezing apps / removing bloat as root will almost definitely keep you from the any OTA. Its the nature of the beast. You can always return to stock and apply the updates later. Also, any major update like ICS will produce a lot of posts here about how to update from an altered rom.
2. There is development work on getting CM7 to work on our phone. Currently the only released ROM that I am aware of is lfaber06's ROM

When a major update such as ICS is released, there will be alternate ways to install such as through bootstrap. Hopefully we'll find a leaked version of ICS before that, and pull the radio get CM9 working
Okay. So I'm planning on rooting it...now...but when I flashed 2.3.5 from the fxz someone provided, it said that once you updated to 2.3.6 you could never go back...but...
I'll try it.
What's bootstrap? I've heard about it and no one has been able to dumb it down for me...could anyone do that?
You can flash the FXZ after the update. It just requires a bit of modification and care. You might want to read the noob thread. It has lots of useful info.
Bootstrap is a way to backup, restore, and flash zips before android boots.
I just rooted the 2.3.6 it's running wonderfully.
Should I install the ibfaber deoxed rom? I mean I know I can do it per instructions but is it worth it?
It depends on what you want to do. If you want to apply any themes you will need to be running the deoxed rom. He also has a supercharged rom that has a lot more customization.
