I know 1.0 is broken on GB or 2.3.5, not sure which but I cant get gmail, even 2.3.2 to work with it anymore, even though on rom .596 i had 2.3.2 working ok.
Is there a way to get that to work again or has google killed that option with the secure API commands ?
Anyone able to get a beta from unread count to try? says its only supported on some devices and X isnt listed
I haven't been able to get it yo work either. And from what I have read it us locked tight on the Google side. One post suggested using a generic email reader, and going pop3 exchange for of to work. But I did not want to do that, as I have multiple Gmail accounts. Post if you get to work. Cheers

Hi guys. I run custom roms like bc. I have issues with push email.
It seems to work on begining and then week later stops working.
Seven is early in it's beta stages so maybe why it stops working
K9 on the other hand never works on evo as push email. It won't deliever unless you do manual check. Also i don't want to do polling every 5 min or so cause that's not push email but pull email which drains battery life. Yahoo client is weird too. Not push. Don't work well. Can't use gmail as my account is on yahoo.
Any ideas? I really would like k9. Any tips, tricks etc ?
?
I have no idea what you mean. Ive been using k9 ever since i switched to droid, on my hero and on my evo.
You are not setting it up properly. You know that PUSH = IMAP right? If youre setting up your accounts as pop3, it wont push. pop3 is pull only.
Download K9 from the website, not the market for the latest release. they upload a new version every 3 or 4 days its awesome. I have 0 problems, and ive gotten everyone I know to switch to it...
more than likely it is yahoo thats the problem. Not to sound rude but android is ALL about gmail. Itll work with other clients but its just not native support. Gmail (imo) is 9000x better than yahoo/hotmail/etc.
I thinkfor yahoo/hotmail imap you have to pay for it.

I don't bother with pop. I installed latest from k9 source. .10 ver. I did auto setup. Did not set anything up manually. Shall I ? If so what would the setting be? I like k9 format but don't work. None do. I finally got maildroid to work and it works great but i like k9 format much better. I don't know why it don't work.
Oh i see you posted a link with settings. Will try that. Thanks a lot for the link.
auto settings for k9 usually dont work. google manual yahoo imap settings and go from there. You may have to get Yahoo Plus or whatever they call it

Ok my Desire S is up and running now but one thing I'm having an issue with is connecting to my work email. It looks as though the included HTC email app isn't compatible with our exchange server so I was wondering if it's possible to install the default Gingerbread email app (as I hear this works very well with exchange now).
Is this possible to do on a S-on Desire S? I've had some joy with K-9 email but I'd prefer to use the Android default app if possible.

Try this its the original email app from my nexus s, I've just done the same things with the microbes live wallpaper and that worked

so worth a try.
Email.apk
Let me know how u get on.
**************************************************************************************************************
Just installed it on my Desire S, it installs fine but having problems conecting to server, you do get manual options so it could be me doing something wrong.
Will keep trying and post back if sucsesful
HTC email works fine with my exchange work email.
Got it working, bit of an odd one, it required me to change my password at work before it would connect. Not sure if something was wrong on works' side or if the Android mail app doesn't like certain chars in passwords? Odd either way.
For whatever reason, after flashing 3.1, Google Talk doesn't work for either of my Apps accounts. It shows me as signed in in the app, but doesn't pull down my contact list or actually send messages. My Gmail account is just fine, tried deleting the accounts in question and no dice.
I am having the same issue with the Motorola Xoom. I am also running 3.1 and have 3 accounts. Anyone else having the same problem?
I posted a bug report here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=17252&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars
Mine shows my contact list but doesnt show any messages recently sent since I flashed to 3.1. Also the status shows everyone offline but on my phone it shows the correct availability,,,,mmmmmm weird

Just to be a bit more specific, one account is a regular GMAIL account, and the other 2 are Google Apps Accounts, on separate domains.

I have one Gmail and one Google Apps account. Works fine, Gmail widget haven't disappeared. What about yours? Was your domain upgraded?

Switched syncing on?
Same problem, not on 3.1
I started experiencing this problem on Saturday.
I'm running Prime 1.3r2 with netformer 1.3 NOT 3.1
I have 3 google apps accounts and 2 traditional gmails. All working as intended until Saturday evening. Now only the first account I sign in to works until I do a reboot. The rest incorrectly show status and fail to send messages. During some testing last night my friends we're receiving test messages from a different account on my list regardless of it was signed in or not.
complete wipe and reload (not restore) did not fix the problem, leading me to believe it's on the google side maybe.
I switched recently to Boca and could not be happier in terms of performance and battery life.
I am missing one thing though: the well designed / slick / beautiful email app from Samsung (probably the only touchwiz thing I miss I would say)
Which email app are you guys using? Kaiten, Moxier, Enhanced email look interesting. Any advice?
I remember a post a year ago explaining Samsung's email app was just a derivative of another one but I cant find the ppst anymore... Could be interesting to explore this as well

I tried Maildroid, it seemed okay. I prefer Samsung email over the Gmail app too...
I really like the Samsung email app on my 8.9. I use that for my work email and keep my personal email in the gmail app. On my galaxy s and my (former) evo I use the enhanced email app. The developer for that app was really responsive when I first got it (back when it was $0.99, and had less than 50 downloads). I originally got the enhanced email app because it was the first one I could find that offered exchange phone lock password requirement bypass.
Thank you, I will have a look I checked K9 and Kaiten mail but I can't believe they still don't support Exchange 2010
I lve the Samsung app, definitely my favorite but I haven't found anyway to install it on a non Samsung ROM. I tried restoring with Titanium backup, I tried installing through ADB, but then got some certificates issues... Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]
Couldn't find anything on the web with people able to go around and install it
If you want the samsung mail then you need to use a Touchwiz based rom. Boca is a CM7 based rom. Other than that if you need trie exchange support then touchdown is the best. Or just use imap and kaiten.

Yes I know that you need a Samsung Rom to have the right certificates for Samsung's apps which is definitely not the case with AOSP or CM ROMs
I was just wondering if some people had found workarounds
Touchdown? It's not gonna happen the application is bulky and ugly...
Thanks anyway
But there is some hope...
Unfortunately not yet for exchange accounts

Its not even about certificates more so than the whole touchwiz framework that needs to be there. If you are just after two pane email.for your gmail, run 160-182 dpi and set browser for ipad and you will get the gmail ipad site. On the other hand, Touchdown is not ugly once you fiddle with it but is the only working EWS client next to ICS I believe, unless you want Good for Enterprise (shutters at the thought).
Lemme know what you end up with.

Already using Good Enterprise for my Work email on my tab. It's not bad actually but eats a lot of battery
I am not looking for an app for GMail, but my personal exchange email. It looks like the one tat messes the least with your overall Android experience is Enhanced Email (And it does support Exchange 2010 accounts). Only downside is it doesn't seem to add any proprietary calendar and to be honest the default Android calendar is relly... ugly... (And not very practical)
Forget about Enhanced Email... It looked interesting from everything I read... BUT I tried the eval app. It resets all the sync emails every time I get over a few days emails... (Could be an issue with the trial version though, but if you make a trial version, you make it good....)
Besides it doesn't allow you to input from your device more than the name, number and email of a contact. Forget about birthdays, etc...
The developer seems reactive but it'snot going to be enough. Aaah I miss my Samsung's email client !!!
So, not I wont get this and I may very well stay on the stock app even though it misses pinch and zoom as well as search...
I hope ICS will be better. Anyway K9 is getting close to a good working solution for Exchange 2010 so I will probably wait until then..
Now I am using MIUI rom but missing Samsung stock email app. I tried pasting apk and odex to system folder but it is not working. Is there any way to get this application on miui. I tried. Different market mail like k9, Maildroid bit nothing comes close to samsung mail app

Happy to find someone who shares my opinion
If you follow my link above you will find a version of Samsung's app hat installs on MIUI but is a bit buggy (Will not easily allow to attach something to the email and will not support Exchange accounts)
The email app installed on the HTC One S is horrible compared to the standard android app when using it for activesync/exchange.
It doesn't display email properly and doesn't have message advance and back icons. You have to open the menu to get to them.
Does anyone know of a way to replace it?
You could just install a different email app. I hear good things about K-9 Mail (have not tried personally).
I actually think the standard android email app is pretty bad for Exchange, since its meeting invites do not show time or place directly.
I've used k-9 for imap connections, but it won't do an activesync connection to sync my contacts and calendar, unless there's a new version that does that.
I switched back to "Enhanced Email".
I couldn't find a way to change the ringtone in the one that came with the phone.
I also didn't like that you couldn't move back and forth through the messages like mentioned above.
I see Enhanced Email is $9.99 in Google Play.
I got it for free when it was the app of the day for Amazon.
I didn't know there were any alternatives other than Touchdown.
I'll give it a try.
Thanks.
I fully agree with you.
I already complained a month ago to htc for the lack of html support for example.
They escalated it to their technical support with no answer yet.

What are you talking about? HTC email app has the html support. Its like basic feature!
At least my exchange server, the original ics one showed html while the htc one option is grayed out and not working.

I have three different activesync acounts on my htc one, and none of them display hmtl.
Also, the attachment don't display from the mail client. You have to download them and open them directly from a viewer app.
Weird. It works on my exchange activesync account. See attached.
Attachments work fine too.

I don't think so. Whatever the exchange server version is, html should always be supported. Did you say it worked on other android phones?

When I had my Desire, I installed one of the ICS beta version (AOSP) and on that native ICS email client with the same exchange server, html support worked great.

Its definitely a bug in your email app since it works for me and other android phones. I would suggest removing the account and adding back if you havent tried that already. I would also factory reset and see if it fixes. if nothing, the only option is to get a replacement.

Thanks for the Info and efforts.
I did several factory resets with no change.
I also already had the firmware updated with no change.
I asked htc support about that and they escalated it still with no answer for more than a month.
Yet, when I enter an account which is not my exchange server like Gmail and such, I do get html support. That's why I figured the issue is related top my exchange server version...

Just out of curiosity, what is the version of the Mail app on your phone? Maybe this is not an issue in all T-Mobile US phones because of different version.
