Polaris office alternative for CM7? - HTC Sensation

Any recommendations? I don't need anything flashy, just reading MS Office 2010 files (mainly .docx and .pptx) and maybe some basic text editing in those files.
If I could somehow transfer Polaris from stock ROM to CM7 would be the best solution for me. But I don't know if it depends on Sense.

Clear Vue PDF missing after bigstorage and ROM upgrade

Hi
I have succeeded done the bigstorage using WWE_1.12.00 ROM. Thanks for the posters. However I noticed the Clear Vue for PDF is missing. Word and Excell exists. Where can I find this application?
Thanks
Word & Excel are part of the OS rom. ClearVue PDF & PPT where coming on the CD I got from TMO. So check your package pls, can be that it's on the ftp as well. Otherwise gimme a signal & it will be there ...
Regards, M
Thanks oltp,
Just check the cd, it only have activesync and outlook 2002.
I guess the ClearVue is also in the old ROM (1.11.00WWE) or in one of the extended ROM Cabs. . Do you have any idea which CAB or can I rip it from the old ROM if its there?
I use one of the available BigStorage ROM (1.12.00) to upgrade from the ftp
Thanks
You can try bal666 tool to rip it from an ext-rom, easier method is to use wince cab manager. You can take a look inside each cab file from your original ext-rom. You did save it, didn't you?
Sadly I don't know by hard which cab file to look for, somehow I keep forgetting these things. & i'm posting with my magician, so can't check on the PC at the moment. Will look for you as soon as I'm able to.
Cheers, M
Found it in CV2.41.386WWE.CAB in the original extended ROM.
oh my..
thanks!
Or install adobe for PocketPC instead.

Arto.
@xda2mid
No problem
@artosoft
ClearVue is free, or at least it came with my magician. Is Adobe 4PPC free to? & is it useful a pdf is hard to view on a PPC.
Regards, M
ClearVue is NOT free. If you don't get it together whith your device, you will have to pay for it.
The Adobe Readers for PPC are free! You can download them from Adobes home page. But the Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0 needs at least round about 8MB, thats much more than ClearVue demands. But ist from Adobe, that means it can handle right all pdf documents, ClearVue fails sometimes if the documents are to complex.
Is it useful?
If you like to view pdfs on your PPC - Yes!
A pdf is hard to view on a PPC?
That depends on the document. The Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0 offers a special reflow mode which is similar to the standard layout mode of the Pocket PC Internet Explorer. But reflow works only whith tagged documents. Untagged documents can be convertet to tagged ones when tranfering them via ActiveSync from Pc to PPC, but it depends on the document, whether the automatic generation of the additional tag table is usefull or failed at all. The best are documents which are createt as tagged ones by the writer. But so far only few writer remenber the people who like to read the files on a PPC...
Untagged documents are hard to view on a PPC also with the Adobe Reader you will have to scroll around a lot (except the are specially made for small displays).

joe
Joe,
thnx i'll think about it. 8MB is not a limitation on my SD, but then it will load slow...& I'm not reading that much pdf's.

Offtopic, but have you guys tried Repligo? If I MUST have a document that was originally PDF, I use Repligo to shrink it down. It loads quickly and perfectly on the PDA and isn't a memory hog like Adobe.
I think the viewer is free, the converter is not, but very useful.

I have it installed on my SD and it's loading slow ... but not slower than the latest PC version! Yes, you will have to wait a few seconds, but when your PC loads it for the first time (after booting) you will have to wait for several seconds too!
Repligo?
If you like to convert everything...
I mean PDF is already a compact file format and I prefer to read documents as they are without the need to convert them before.

Interesting Office 2007 Issue

So I decided to use the 004 kitchen and put Office 2007 in my BE ROM. Guess what? All programs work fine until you try to activate the calendar or contacts softkey while the program is minimized (any of them), then a dialog box pops up and says "calendar is not a valid Pocket PC application". Close out the Office apps. and things go back to normal? Keep in mind I did pull 2007 from the 1413 build to use in the 968 build, so I'm wondering what could be up and if anyone has seen something like this before.
I'm not seeing this with my rom. I pulled the Office 2007 out of the Pandora's Kitchen and deleted the Office dirs completely in Farias, then put these in. Also modified the options.xml in the sys folder to have the correct values for the dsm files.
Mfrazzz's approach is definitely the path of least resistance. Awhile ago nottoosmart posted regarding issues with porting Office 2007, and I posted a cab-fix I got from the hermes forum. I assume he used it to adapt 2007 into the Pandora kitchen. If you're the "do-it-yourself" type, let me know and I'll send you the cab-fix as well.
Best wishes,

I should have mentioned that I integrated your cabfix into the Office 2007 I pulled off of Pandora's Kitchen. I was getting various errors until I did that so just put it directly into the Office directory and added the registry entries into the bottom of the office .rgu that were all in that cab you provided.
Anyone noticed if the problem is still residing in the Pandora Kitchen? I haven't seen this - and haven't directly addressed it. I don't know if nottoosmart added the fix. Just curious...
:S
I now that office2k7 is deply wired into de OS, however i been wondering if if there is a way to "install office 2k7" into an already flashed devices with office2003 ??
Best Regards!!

Is there a way to use deeper folders in W6.1 Mobile office?

Hi,
I have recently bought a Samsung Omnia, which I am fairly happy with. ifonz makes it a gem!
Still one thing which I think is plain stupid is that MS 6.1 Office Mobile can only access folders to a "depth" of two folders.
I'm curious is there a registry tweak to get past this? Or any other way?
I need to keep notes, docs, photos and the like fairly organised.
Softmaker Office(70€) can do it, but is fairly expensive. So I think, if Softmaker can do it, it does not seem to be a limitation of Win Mobile but rather of office mobile.
It there is no workaround, how can I deinstall Win Office Mobile and replace it by Softmaker?
Office Mobile seems to be integrated in Win Mobile.
Please use simple instructions I am not a computer wizkid (but I can change reg entries if you tell me where).
Thanks a lot!!
Franziska
I finally solved this issue:search in developers site "filedlgchg" and you will find 2 files to put in windows ppc folder...(follow the instructions in the post).
To navigate in folders you must press in left corner of bottom bar(to go up)or directly in the folders in popup window(to go down)
It works, but only partial in office mobile..
Hi, at least I can save now where I want. Great. Still I can not open where I want. At least not in Office applications. Is there a work around for this too?
Thanks for your help,
Franziska
I don't use office application to open office files.I use shortcuts to single docs or folders in Mortbuttons application:try it, it's a very good software...and free!!

Wich ebook reader to use with WVGA?

Wich ebook reader to use with WVGA?
Anybody got a idea? Having trouble to read eBooks because everything is to small.
allreader search for free english version...
I don't have the link handy.... it scales very well for any screen size..
you can also add fonts to the windows font folder and change the fonts in the program.
the same program works in both standard and professional wm...
eReader and Mobipocket work perfectly on Omnia 2 (WVGA). As rob_van_triet says, you can use fonts from your PC and of course, you can set fontsize to anything you like.
try this http://www.isilo.com/
Allreader is the one (-;
Thx all
Wise choice
I use Alreader on HD and happy with it.
You can also try µBook (http://www.gowerpoint.com/).
Thanks guys for the info, was looking for a good eReader for quite some while now =D
Anyone have a link to free english version of allreader? Can't find free one anywhere?! Thanks!!
Extract and copy .exe file to your phone and run Its english Alreader 2.3, works very good on my Leo
Thanks Petulinek! Its perfect! Nice one.
It's better than Abode Reader?
Maybe a stupid question but i'm looking for a e-book reader which can do the following things:
- Can open .LIT, .EPUB and .MOBI
- Works in a Windows Mobile 6.5 environment
- Works on a HTC HD2 smartfone, i.e. without a stylus
I've tried all the possible apps mentioned above. I used to be very fond of MS Reader but that one doesn't work on Winmo 6.5. Does anybody have an idea for me? TIA
UBook works perfect, do not use pencil, the application is handled very well by setting the gestures, supports multiple formats of text files sorporta zipped text with pictures inside, change fonts, appearance and etc.
The first time I Insala gave me problems but I think it's because they did not have Framework 3.5 installed on HD2, now works perfect, although I can not certify that the problem was not having Framework installed.
A greeting

I am looking for the same thing I have tons of .LIT books so I need an ebook app to handle that
does anyone of them have page markers to save your current location in the "book"?
alreader has page markers.
Undoubtedly uBook reader, supports multiple formats, annotations, boolmarks, etc, HD2 works perfectly and gestures can be configured to turn the page, etc. autoscroll.
I use and I will perfect
Thanks, i have 2.6 if ya want it, its ok, finger scroll would be nice though
I have been reading ebooks on my various phones for years and the best I have used on Windows Mobile is AllReader followed by uBook then Mobipocket. Isilo is poor in my view and to be avoided. I used to use uBook more than any other but once you start using AllReader there is no going back, it is just so configurable. Superb software and well worth the money.

Document Stuff

@Combat goofwing - the transformer comes with the Polaris Office suite pre installed which handles MS Office documents i believe.. so that should sort out your requirement for Word
Speaking of which, has anyone given Polaris Office a good going over yet?
..and are there any decent android alternatives knocking around?
There is QuickOffice. I'm not a fan of doc format so I probably won't use PolarisOffice or QuickOffice if I'll find an alternative. There is of course Google Docs - which probably will be enough for me.
offline editing will be handy though.. and compatibility with office will be a headline for many (especially with the forthcoming dock)

Yes. I'd prefer rtf or odt though because I use Libre Office on my computer and most my files are odt. I can settle for docs though, Libre Office doesn't have problems with them.
