[APP] 3G Toggler by Gnufabio and Roach2010 - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

Here is a small app from me and Roach2010 which allow you to enable the 3G settings menu after that you flash a rom or the 3g enabler from the CWM.
Read carefully:
This app need root permissions and overwrites the bootloader, so it may cause some problems. If you get a problem, just use nvlash.
Credits:
Me for programming this app
Roach2010 for his bright idea and for having provided the modded bootloaders
If you have any issue, please report it. Thanks

Reserved for future use.

Please note that this will not disable the 3g options for Prime 1.9 (3g version) since I had hardcoded some changes into the ROM files but this will work with every other ROM.

Hey guys,
thanks for this great app. it is working without any problems on revolver 3.0.
greetings
Matthias
(this was written with 3g Dongle )

How can I save my APN settings (VIVO) into Access Point Names? Already google it a lot and didn't find any helpful result.
Just filled all the required settings and there isn't any SAVE button, or something like this.
if I press < it just come back to the APN list and it appears empty.
I'm using revolver 3.0 with revolver parts. Downloaded and Instaled 3gPlugin and then 3gtoggler, so finally I got Mobile Networks menu under Wireless & Networks
My 3g dongle is a HUAWEI E173

Ive never heard of a 3g single. Can u use ur phone?

Collaboration at it finest, keep up the great work guys! My wife's transformer wouldn't be as smooth as it is right now without the bright developers like you two.

Yes.. I've got 3G again with my revolver v3.
Thank you!

Outstanding work guys,well done.

great work, great thing....finally got the opportunity to use 3g dongle. Never tried the other solutions over flashing special roms....this is a lot easier.
As mentioned above, i have now the same issue, not being able to save apn-settings.
How could i do this?
Or is there an opportunity to preload apn-settings?
so, at the moment i can't create any connection...can someone help me with this?
People who have a working 3g-connection - how did you get your apn-settings saved?

in Englisch: Try to flash the Attachment too. It´s from Gnufabios Revolverparts.
in German: Zusätzlich den Anhang flashen. Mal rebooten oder mal Netzwerk suchen lassen. Immer wieder APN eingeben, speichert sich von selbst.

no chance.
flashed plugin (again), typed in apn settings about 10 times - nothing saved, no connection

Did you "turn off the composite device of the 3G dongle" as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15284906&postcount=1
When I plugin my dongle it takes some time to get the APN to showup (I even need to remove and plugin the dongle sometimes)
On the market you can also find APN tools to set the APN manualy.

hey htc-hd2, I'm with the same problem as bswpt and right now I'll give a try with "turn off the composite device of the 3G dongle" maybe it works.
My HUAWEI E173 is blinking blue so it means that the dongle is attempting to register onto a 3G network.
I'm under Revolver 3.0, then installed the Revolver_3gPlugin.zip, installed 3gToggler, now I can see 'Mobile Network Settings', but still can't save any apn on the apn list.
Already tried to add an apn by too many apn apps from the market (apn manager, apn brasil, apn on-off, etc) without success.
I'll update with my results, maybe it helps anybody in the future.

tried the instructions, got everything working and putty gives out this:
ati
Manufacturer: huawei
Model: E1823
Revision: 11.825.03.10.55
IMEI: xxxxxx(deleted the number here...)
+GCAP: +CGSM,+DS,+ES
OK
at^u2diag=0
COMMAND NOT SUPPORT
AT^U2DIAG=0
COMMAND NOT SUPPORT
tried the the command in big and small letters - you can see the result.
Now, plugging the Dongle into Transformer, i noticed for half a second, that the device found an external memory....(this is allways shown for the microsd...., but never poped up like when i plug in the Dongle).
So i assume, that my transformer doesnt recognize the dongle as a modem....
Just to make it complete: i also installed the install-tf101.bat from the link above....
So: still the same result - can't get a connection, can't save apn settings.
Now i'll try apps from market to set apn manually....but i think it's useless, because until my transformer recognizes the dongle as a modem - am i right?

it doesn't work for me
I just did "turn off the composite device of the 3G dongle" tutorial and still can't connect by 3g dongle.
1 - found the COM port (COM15)
2 - started putty and connected with the port COM15
3 - did ATI command and got some information about the dongle
4 - wrote AT^U2DIAG=0 and got OK message (see that while you write the command it doesn't appear on the console, screen still black with a green square)
5 - close putty and go to TF.
Just power up the TF, wait for whole process being started, then connected the 3g dongle. It still to blink in blue every 3 seconds.
When the LED displays blue and is blinking once every three seconds, this means that the dongle is attempting to register onto a 3G network.

By the way, I can't save any APN into APN List and actually can't connect to 3G network.
Any suggestions?!?

It's a little hard because you can't see the command while you're typing, right?!

hmmm, i can see what i'm writing within putty (copy and paste from putty what you see above) . Well, why ^ should be on top of U? anyway, I'll give it a try.

What rom are you using, and what version of WiFi Tether?
Also can you be more descriptive of the problem, are you unable to see the wifi broadcasted from your phone on your computer?
PS i have seem WiFi tether be a bit buggy on some roms, or maybe its just particular versions of wifi tether that cause it, to where you have to go into, and then back out of airplane mode after you start the tether. Have you tried this?

you can try downloading this version and installing it
http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_2_0_2.apk
I still don't understand. Can you connect to the phone with a computer?
1. You can either connect to the phone over wifi, but don't have internet on your PC
2. You can see the phone as a wireless network, but trying to connect fails
or
3. You can't see the phone as a wireless network.
I know your typing on your phone, but it would make it easier for us to help you if you could give more specific information and used punctuation. I don't expect perfect grammar, but atleast use some periods every now and then. Your sentences run together and I cant tell what your saying. No hard feelings though
EDIT, after re-reading your posts a few times, I think your saying you can connect over WiFI to your phone after you enable Wireless tether, and it all seems good, but you don't have an internet connection on your PC; the wireless tether app never shows any data transferred either direction? If this is the case, open the app, start the tether, connect to it with your PC. Then, on your phone, press menu, then select "Show log", and lets see what it says.
Good luck =)

ok so i tryed and the log said it was all done but it wonk work at all. so heres the deal ill try to explain it again. ok so i open it up (on every rom with it PRE installed so it should deff work) it says installing files for it. when its done i press the green button, it asks for super user and i press always allow. then at bottom were it should say the down is 0.~ and up is 0.~ it stays at o.o and in my taskbar were it should show im using 3g it doesnt at all. so its like the app cant find the 3g im using or something of that sort. its hard to explain this since i dont understand why it wont work. lastly is there a Cretan pri or anything like that i need to run this?
Looking at the task bar in the first post it shows you are connected to 3g, going from left to right in the pic you attached I see:
Battery(or memory?) % indicator, Wifi Tether icon,Location indicator icon(blue circle with crosshairs), 3g Icon that looks like this (3G), Signal strength bars(2), circular orange battery indicator( only partially visible because battery is low, and the clock.
Did you try the newer version linked to above?
Try the newer version if you haven't, also..
open wifi tether, press menu, go to setup...
be sure bluetooth is not checked,
turn off wifi-Encryption
try changing the SSID
try changing the channel
Disable access control
Does your computer say it connected successfully?
Lets be sure its actually connecting properly. We'll be sure its getting its IPaddress from the phone, and not trying to use default windows ip or no IP
From your computer, go to start->run then type in CMD, press enter.
from there, type ipconfig, and see what your IPv4 Address is.
You may want to uninstall the app completely either through the phone or using adb. Then download this one http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tether_1_60_htc.apk&can=2&q=HTC+Donut and move it to your tools folder in the sdk.
From command prompt type
Code:
adb install wireless_tether_1_60_htc.apk
Also once you start the wireless tether app can you see it from your computer. You might want to make sure you are choosing the correct network. Some of the wireless apps have AndroidTether as the network name and some have G1Tether. Once you click the correct one you should feel your phone vibrate after it is connected, somewhere between 5 and 20 seconds and in your drop down menu it should say it is connected.

Uninstall that version, put 1.6 back on. Turn tether on, then connect from your computer. Then back on your phone, press menu, then access control, and when you see a computer info pop up in that menu, click the check box beside it for good measure. Then give it about a minute or so, then try to connect. See, it may not be the app itself. Go into network connections on your computer, right click the wireless network adapter icon, go to properties. Where it says ip v4, click that and go to settings I believe, then click automatically get ip address. Press ok. Then disconnect from your hero tether and re tether.

3.) on phone while in wifi tether (dont back out or close app) push and hold the phone off button to bring up the power menu
4.) Select Mobile network to disable the connection
5.) repeat last 2 steps but this time to re-enable the connection.
6.) close browser on computer and open back up... and...
Presto!!! internet connected and working great.

it sounds like you forgot a couple of steps... after it asked you for SU permissions and you clicked always allow, it should then be connected..
BUT you have to click menu on your phone, then click access control. make sure your phone says "Access-Control is enabled." if not click "Enable"
Now don't back out on ur phone or anything.. leave it with this menu up..
On you computer pull up your wireless networks, and if your using version 1.60 pre3 then you will see G1Tether. Click to connect.. (make sure ur not connected to any other network at the time and if u are disconnect that first)
once you have connected to G1Tether on your computer, wait about 30 secs and on your phone, in that same menu that u left open, under Access-Control is enabled, it should now have a dialogue that says Connected/Authorized Clients and should have you credentials. MAKE SURE u tick the box. Then click on menu from ur phone and click Apply Settings.
after that u should be connected...

[Q] Ready to Return My Transformer - Apps, Wifi Issues

OK so I have had my Transformer for 2 days now and so far it has been little more than a paper weight. I have not been able to download a single app from the market. I've tried everything suggested here (cancel/restart, reboot, etc) with no luck. I have not been able to even update Google Maps or install Flash Player, literally I have not been able to install anything. I've tried stock and rooted plus I cannot get any version of Prime to install (finally got the root and CWM installed). Lastly, since this is a Wifi only device it is important to wireless tether with my cellphone. Two days and I still cannot get it to work, will not even find the device. Only 2 days of ownership and I am completely frustrated with this thing. I really like and want the micro SD capabilities but if I can't resolve this ASAP it will need to go back to the store.
Anyone have any suggestions on what all I can try? Please help!
Sorry, I'm a little busy to look for the direct links.
Just look-for the vanilla NVFlash then add the Prime 1.5 (nvflash version). Dump them together into a folder then run the batch file. Simple !
I just helped two co-workers with their brand-new TFs getting rooted this way.
Maybe 5-10 minutes top.
Make sure you unzip the downloaded Prime file (it becomes 4 files). Read the NVFLASH post and have the USB driver ready.
Thanks man I'll give it a shot here shortly
Good luck.
And if you ever have a need to get back to stock (refund maybe ?), there is a stock-ROM (nvflash version), just as easy to get back.

You don’t have to root or flash with a custom rom to get the basic stuff like Wi-Fi. Everything works out of the box as advertised. If something doesn't then either you are doing something wrong or there is a fault with your device. Did you try connecting to a normal Wireless Router? Honeycomb can not see some types of adhoc networks without installing a patch (i.e created by Windows, this may be applicable to some phones too, however it worked fine with My Galaxy S).

I guess you enjoy using command lines to unroot ?!
There is a nvflash package w/stock-rom available. Just double-click download.bat then wait a few minutes.

Hi, sometime the problem is in the market. not the device itself. I got similar experience with my HTC device. I've installed many ROMs but the market always screwed. So what I did was, just reset your device, when it asks the Google account, type in your email like this: [email protected] instead of just blablabla or [email protected]

I guess your phone is offering up an adhoc connection, which Android doesn't support out of the box. It should work fine with phones that offer up a true infrastructure hotspot. Personally, I think adhoc networks should die a horrible death, but I appreciate their necessity if that's all your phone can do.
Search for adhoc and you should find a solution to this issue. You can also try PDAnet (tablet) too.

Dave

Ad hoc issue appears to be most relevant.
Market download issues =software issues not hardware. If you do not have any other wifi option then go to McDonald's or Starbucks and try it on their wifi.

Don't know if this helps, But I just discovered that the Transformer doesn't seem to like hidden SSID.
Mine connects fine if the SSID is shown, but once I hide the SSID it said out of range.
My EVO 3D, iPod, TV all work with it hidden.
Does someone know if you can setup the TF to connect with hidden SSID?
Thanks
Thanks for the advice all. I don't have a custom ROM on it yet, just rooted. I can't get the zips to work. Says cannot open (bad). Will try re-downloading for a 5th time and see how goes it. I did figure out the wifi issue on my phone - it was ad hoc as stated and it recognizes my phone now but still won't download apps (says it's downloading but never does). Tried cancelling and restarting several times as well as factory resetting the device. Does the same thing when I connect to my home network as well.

My Wifi network is hidden and I had no issue connecting my TF.
What type of router and what settings does it have?
I am using a NetGear WNDR3700 (802.11-g,n). The TF connects to the 2.4 GHz section over 802.11n.
Is it wise to be playing with recovery images and custom ROMS, if you can't get basic market functionality working?
Clearly before changing your TF from stock, get the market working, this is almost certainly a probem with your Wifi router...
The only problem I am aware of with the Transformers Wifi, is sometimes it does not getting a DHCP address when coming back from sleep (use Static IP), the TW release has this fixed, but the WW does not for some reason, i'm guessing they know 3.2 is incoming soon.
Follow these steps to get the market working:
I don't exactly know what the problem is, but I've had it on a couple of phones before. I do NOT have a googlemail account, so that wasn't the problem.
I deleted all cache/data from the following programs: Market, MarketUpdater, Downloads, Download manager, googleapps (anything that seems relevant)
now first go on a computer, open your gmail via gmail.com, send a mail, edit some contacts, just make sure you do something! Now reboot your eee pad, accept the market policies and see if it works....
If this doesn't fix it, then I have no options left
Update: I ultimately returned my TF (I had already suspected that I didn't receive a new device due to other issues and packaging). I received the new TF yesterday (A+ to Amazon.com). The new TF was 1000x better. Loaded right up, connected, market apps loaded easily, quickly and on the first try. All in all I am pleased. And the root and ROM installs worked flawlessly. Actually enjoying my TF now. Thanks all for the advice and help!

Thanks

All the WiFi at my work are hidden and there at least 8 people with TFs here. Mostly Prime but some stock. None of us EVER had problem with hidden SSID.
At home my two WiFi are hidden. No problem.

My Wifi network is hidden and I had no issue connecting my TF.
What type of router and what settings does it have?
I am using a NetGear WNDR3700 (802.11-g,n). The TF connects to the 2.4 GHz section over 802.11n.

I am running a Belkin N750DB, (WPA2 encryption)
Every other thing in my house works fine, hidden. I changed from a ASUS 300N router that was running same encryption WPA2 with no problem on the TF. I have check and doubled checked settings.
Stumped
Also have it set on 2.4 GHz over 802.11n
I also had a issue with the wifi connection on my first unit. Its would pause/stall all the time in the interent browser and market would give me connection error messages. Now Im on my third one and it has a bright stop on the screen but the internet works great.

Can someone try these QPST Instructions for me? Please and Thank-you! :)

I do not have a Droid Charge, so I can't test this myself, but I want to know if using these instructions allows you to access QPST Diag ability. I have a few clients that want me to flash their Charge over to Cricket. This should only take a few minutes.
First make sure you have installed QPST.
Creating a virtual COM Port for the phone diagnostics software:
0vermind said:
1. Boot the phone up regularly without the cable attached. There is no special button to press while booting.
2. Connect the phone to the PC with a USB data cable.
3. Open phone dialer.
4. Enter in **usbdiag (**8723424) and press the call button
Now this should bring up a screen with 2 sections each has three options, select CDMA Modem in each section and your computer should detect new drivers, and it may take up to 5 minutes for them all to finish, because once one is detected it brings a few more in and yeah.. there will be one left that will NOT install, don't worry about it, go into device manager and make sure that in modems there is one listed for your phone.[/I]
5. If you have the Android SDK kit on the PC, the drivers should install automatically, or be pulled from the phone.
6. Now Download and Install HW Virtual Serial Port HERE.
7. Once you have it downloaded and installed, open it up.
8. Click the Login button. The password should automatically be filled in and click OK.
9. Go to the Settings tab and make sure that NVT Enabled is unchecked and go back to the Virtual Serial Port tab.
10. To be safe, pick a COM port above 8, but less than 20.
11. Make sure the IP Address field reads 192.168.16.2 and the Port field reads 11008
12. Click the Create COM button and after a few moments you should now have successfully created a COM port for your Droid Charge.
If you get Error in the LAN Status field then you have not successfully installed the drivers for the phone, or the phone is not set in Modem mode. Also make sure USB debugging is turned on and stay awake while plugged in is on. (These are in the Development section of settings under Applications.)

When using QPST, don't let your phone go into sleep mode or it will lose connection.
1.) Open your Programs menu and go to QPST > QPST Configuration. If you do not see an active phone listed, select the "Ports" tab and click "Add New Port..." at the bottom right. Highlight the port you created for the Charge, then click "OK." If the port isn't listed, you might need to uncheck "Show Serial USB/QC Diagnostics Ports only."
2.) It should show the phone information. Under "Phone" column it shouldn't say No Phone. If it does, please make sure that all the steps were followed to the T, and that the phone is in CDMA Modem mode.
Please let me know if this works or not. All I want to know is what shows under the Phone section. If it shows "No Phone," please let me know if you re-checked all the steps and if the modem drivers are installed. Also let me know what the LAN Status is and RX and TX friends for VSP LAN and QUEUE in HW Virtual Serial Port.
If this will help some kind of development then ill be happy to do it, however it will take me an hour and a half to get home, plus the time to test this

Thanks!! And yes, it will. Because it will tell us a number of things. 1. If LTE devices still have a operatable CDMA Modem instead of relying on the SIM Card. 2. If it can be flashed to other CDMA Carriers, this will help people who do not want to leave Cricket, Sprint, etc.
Let me know if you get stuck on anything. I would like more than one person to try this, so if anyone is reading, please take a few minutes and post back your results.
I can't get it to work, but I am MOST LIKELY doing something wrong. Ill try it again tommorow and let you know.

Where did you get stuck at? Were you able to enter USBDIAG and select CDMA Modem?
The code for usbdiag is **87284 trying to connect with qpst now.
Edit: I'm not having any luck. Qpst says no phone.
Edit 2: I'm getting lan error in hw vsp and I followed the steps exactly.

edit: followed directions and get same LAN error... a "VIA Telecom USB Modem" shows in device manager so perhaps drivers didn't take? also USB debugging is on btw, will try again
edit2: port looks like it was created despite LAN error? device manager shows a "ELTIMA Virtual Serial Port (COM12)"

It will create the port on the pc side but it isn't properly linked to the phone.

gonna try turning off LTE, maybe thats why no LAN connection
edit: tried again and HW VSP was in like a connnecting/error loop, then errored... VSP Rx=7502 and Tx=0, LAN Rx=0 and Tx=0, Queue Rx=0 and Tx=7502 and Baud keeps switching between 115200 and 38400
edit2: tried numerous times with same result of LAN status error... all drivers and programs installed properly, phone is in CDMA MODEM mode in both sections, tried doing this both with LTE on and 3G only, Modem and Port both show up in device manager however no LAN connection and "No Phone" in QPST

This method is for phones that do not have diag mode such as the Droid X, Droid X2, etc. It also works without needing the Virtual COM Port on phones that have build in Diag mode like HTC phones, and anything with CM7 on it.
The fact that it keeps going back to lan error, but allows some packets to go through, tells me that the SIM card is now in charge of all network operations and it holds information such as towers, etc. Which sucks. I had a Droid Charge in my possession for 8 hours and I tried everything I could think of to get the damn thing to register on QPST, looks like they changed how the network communicates with LTE devices.
Sorry guys! This is really frustrating, but it makes sense for Verizon to do it this way, slowly transitioning away from pure CDMA is a good move.

QPST still no phone
VIA/Spirent PST
The Samsung i406/i510 and some others use the VIA schipset which is non-Qualcomm compliant that's why you can't communicate with it through QPST/QXDM etc... need the original VIA/Spirent PST to turn the RUIM NV-only option on to force the phone into using the NAM parameters from the NV and not from the LTE sim card. In addition to the NV you also have to switch the modem to cdma by dialing **583
If anyone has some info about VIA/Spirent PST please share it.

hope you guys gets some results on this~~~
Where to find INTF2 dirver?

HTC Thunderbolt on PPC with 3g without using CDMAWS paid version

Ok everybody, after a few days of tinkering around with the help of many different forums and threads (sorry, i cant possibly start thanking individuals cuz i went through so many threads) i finally got my htc thunderbolt on PPC with 3g working. this is how
1.) remove the 4g sim card (if you have it) from the thunderbolt
2.) aquire all of the drivers you need for the thunderbolt and DM mode (hint, use htc sync)
3.) on the phones dialer dial ##3424# and press send
4.) hit the button that says reboot to modem+diag mode
5.) when your phone is plugged into the computer, has all the drivers installed, and is picked up in the device manager as 2 com ports
A.) The voice, text, and 1x com port is the htc diagnostic
B.) the 3g/4g com port is htc diagnostic 9k
6.) aquire a copy of cdmaws (2.7 is fine, there is a cracked version floating around, just use google no warez links
7.) open up cdmaws and connect to the non 9k port and connect
8.) go to the security tab and input your spc (000000) and click send, should say unlocked
9.) go to the other tab and under R-UIM Config make sure you select NV only then click write
9.) write all your nam settings, mdn, min, sid, nid, imsi and etc etc (other posts here at xda have all the details) repeat for name 2
10.) go to the other tab and under prl make sure it says universal and nam1
11.) click write and locate your pageplus evdo prl file (i used 51720) repeat for nam2
12.) go to the main tab and click disconnect but DO NOT CLOSE CDMAWS!!!!!!!
13.) connect the 9k port and repeat steps 8-12 but dont read, just write (all of your settings should still be on the screen)
14.) close cdmaws after all the settings are written to the phone
15.) find a copy of qpst 2.7 build 366 (again, google is your friend) and install it
16.) open up qpst configuration and click add new port
17.) find your non 9k com port click it once then click ok
18.) at the top go to start clients->service programming
19.) click ok then click read, click ok on the pop up that comes up
20.) go straight to the m.ip tab and create a new profile (or edit the one that shows up if it shows up) make it look like the screenshots i have below
21.) write the profile
22.) go to the PPP config tab and put *your 10 digit page plus phone number*@vzw3g.com for your nai and *your 10 digit phone number*@dun.vzw3g.com for teth. nai. password is vzw for um and an tab.
23.) close service programming and select the com port in configuration and remove it, close qpst configuration
24.) get a copy of dfs tools (demo is perfectly fine)
25.) see screenshots included at bottom of post
26.) make sure you start with the non 9k port, write what you need. and change ports to the 9k port without closing dfs tools, write everything to the 9k port (to be sure i pressed write for everything about 30 times but i may have been a bit excessive
27.) now activate the thunderbolt on your pageplus account by taking the last digit off of the imei number and they'll take it.
28.) insert ANY sim card into the sim card slot (NOT A VERIZON 4G ONE) i used a old nextel one to be honest
29.) turn on phone and dial *#*#4636#*#* and click phone information. change to cdma auto (prl) and close out.
30.) make a phone call and BAM 3g picks up and authenticates
Sorry if this guide isnt easy to follow, im not too good with wording things, lol. but it gives enough info for others to help including me.
also make sure under wireless and networks-> mobile networks-> that data roaming is allow for all trips, network mode is cdma only, and system select is automatic b
feel free to post to this thread with any shortcuts, questions, or comments

Thanks for the hard work you have done deathrow1993 ,I have been around in circles with this, It looks like you have come up with the answer. I have 2 questions for you.. 1: I have CDMAWS 3.9 a little different from the one you have..You mention go to the other tab and under R-UIM Config make sure you select NV only. In CDMAWS 3.9 the R-UIM config is on the main tap and there is also the button that gives the option of CDMA or CDMA2 or EDVO etc. and another button that gives the option of NAM1 and NAM2 .. Do I write to NAM1 and NAM2 under CDMA and CDMA2 and EDVO?? The last question 2: on the program page of DFS CDMA you have 765 2385692 in several fields is this the phone # thanks for all your work with this. I have had the 1X working for a bit now but getting tired of the slow speeds. Again thanks to you everybody else that has contributed to this... Merry XMAS

Thats my cell phone number. Forgot to edit the pictures i guess. If you have cdmaws 3.9 and its the paid version in order to get 3g go to the evdo tab and put yourphone#@vzw3g.com for all fields and vzw as the password. Then have pageplus do a esn reset and a data reset and 3g should work. If its not the paid version then the evdo tab wont write. It sounds like you already have talk and text working? also make sure if you write something (nv only, nam settings, m.ip, and ppp settings, anything) make sure you write to both nam1 and nam2.

Deathrow you can still get into diag mode with ICS roms and probably other non sense ones as well. Google "GScript Lite" and you can put your phone in diag mode without the reboot. I am with PPC too and love sense roms for ease of programming your phone without ever hooking it up to a computer but have run into losing data when flashing roms.

Thanks again for your tips. I currently have voice and SMS working...Still trying to get data tho...
deathrow1993 if you ever make it near PDX I'm buying you a beer!
Process worked (took me awhile to find all the tools).
I haven't got a non-vzw-LTE SIM card yet so I have the Verizon one in there (wife's phone...keeps the phone from complaining) and it at least functions with text/voice for her.
I suspect it will start snagging 3G once I get the random SIM card in there.
Best part was that this avoided having to use the paid version of CDMA Workshop (their DEMO version you can download lets you mod only the CDMA pages, not the EVDO). I really didn't want to part with $99 just to program a used phone that isn't even mine
Thanks again! Learned a lot!
HTC Thunderbolt on Page Plus/w Voice/Text/MMS/Web
..Finally, after a week of trying to get data to work, IT WORKS!! HTC Thunderbolt on Page Plus 55$plan, Voice/Text/MMS/Web at 1xCDMA. I started with the tips from this thread and others alike, used cdmaws2.7, DFS4103, QPST366, and WirelessWorkshop dotcom. To be honest, it was the WirelessWorkshop remote software and the Technical help from them(Dwane was his name) that got this working. I could never get the com ports/diag driver's installed correctly. I thought they were but they weren't and WirelessWorkshop(Dwane the tech dude) connected to my pc through teamviewer and fixed my problem with the ports and drivers! Way more than I expected him to do since I only paid to use the software remotely. Before he fixed my pc I could only write to the htc diagnostic modem, not the 9K..So CHeers to him and the rest of y'all that have helped out...
Now I need to get 3G working. I did run across this from another site's thread but I don't know if it works to fix 3G cause there are no other references to it:

I am not sure if changing the "vzw" pass to one of these would work or not.. Has anyone else seen this and does it work to connect 3G?
Hmm...
I popped in a non-4G-LTE SIM card yet still no 1x or 3G data (no MMS or anything).
Any words of insight here?
After having everything working(voice,sms,mms,data1x) for almost a week, I tried to get 3G to work and now I have no data or mms at all...I have tried to re-flash and re-flash, gone over all the settings a thousand times, but nothing...

I'm thinking the APN may be wrong on my Thunderbolt (still verizon?) because it wasn't a setting I had to change in this process?
I will have some more time here soon to look at it and see if I can figure it out..
I don't think the sim card really matters much but I'm using the verizon sim because it holds the PRL. 3G data is working for me, you need to be able to write your specific keys to the phone using DFS. This took me a while to figure out but eventually I got my hands on a droid incredible and was able to use it for my source to setup the thunderbolt. I am not sure if there is any other way to work around this or not but it worked for me.
Edit: It may be that you need to do all the programming as stated by the OP before you do the activation or have an ESN reset thru PPC.

EDIT: I was wrong about the sim card but if you have a new one that was NEVER programmed before, then it will work with the 4G LTE sim card.
I had 2 used & 1 new sim card but I could only get the NEW one to work correctly with 3G. Sorry if I lead anyone in the wrong direction.
I am only finding one port (9k) since I upgraded to ICS. Does anyone have a similar issue or could this be another problem?

I have found This rom here to be the most useful in setting things up to where you can reboot to diag mode and then set everything else up as stated in the OP. Once you are finished, flash the rom of your choice but don't go thru with the vzw activation process so all of your settings will stick. They may still stick, I don't know for certain as I have never allowed it to finish.

Enable Tethering on J7 Sky Pro [SM-727VL]

After owning this phone for about a year now and using PDANet for tethering, I have discovered a way of enabling & using tethering / mobile hotspot.
1. Download and Install 'Activity Manager'
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andrefrsousa.tools.activitymanager
2. Open the app, select the 'Activity List' tab on the bottom right, and scroll down to the Settings app.
3. Scroll down the list of activities until you see 'Mobile Hotspot' (there is more than one, be sure you select the first one in the list, the activity is com.android.settings.Settings$WifiApSettingsActivity)
4. Long Press on that and select "Create Shortcut"
5. Go to your launcher and open the newly created shortcut
6. :highfive: :highfive: :highfive:
I've seen a couple threads where people have been looking for a method of doing this and I was one of those people so hopefully this helps you guys out! Enjoy ! :good:

Hey! I haven't been on XDA in a little bit sorry about not answering. I did have the straight talk variant and it worked for me. If it's not working to connect other phones (like another android device), PDANet worked like a charm for me on this phone. Let me know if that helps!

Thanks, but no, it's still not working for me. I'm just following the instructions either with the hotspot or the the foxfi options and they connect but the other phone always says "internet may not be.." stable or something like that, and there is no internet. Works 'like a charm' though on my laptop. Someone else somewhere else said something about a proxy but didn't elaborate so maybe that's the trick. Do you have any ideas? Thanks

What version of PDANet are you using? And what phone are you trying to connect? I'm not entirely sure what could be causing the issue, I have the same phone and same carrier and PDANet worked for me. I tethered my galaxy S6 to the Skypro with no issues, it's possible it may be the phone you are trying to tether since it's working on your laptop. You are seeing a message that says "internet may not be available..." correct?

Correct. It's actually another j7 for boost, same year, just a little different internals. Standard Android, stock. PdaNet installed on it. Unfortunately I don't have another android device to test with

What version of PDANet are you using?
Edit: just saw you post the version lol my bad, I'll get back to you in a second. I'll grab my skypro and see if we have different versions. I suspect it's either the target phone or perhaps an outdated version of PDANet
Alrighty, give these suggestions a try and let me know.
1. Uninstall PDANet and download + install version 5.21.4 on both devices
2. Make sure "hide tether usage" is off on both devices
3. Open the menu (the three ... in top right), and set wifi timeout to "never"
4. Enable the hotspot, then on the phone you want to connect, tap "connect to a pdanet hotspot" then click "select phone"
5. Manually input the password and attempt to connect
If you're able to connect and get wifi then you should be able to use the WPS option to automatically connect next time. I have version 5.21.4 installed on my skypro and just tested, this is working fine for me.
