I saw in another topic where someone said they could trick Netflix into installing on the mesmerize. Which rom would I need to install to do this.
Thanks

With roms like pick n pack and heinz 57 I've gotten netflix to open but not play anything... seems like the newest version won't even open....
However, with MIUI it opens and plays without any trickery involved... you can even get off the android market if you are running MIUI.

Pretty sure it works in the cyanogen mod mtd as well
The definitive answer? You basically need a gingerbread based rom to run it. It won't run on froyo based ones.

I was able to watch Netflix and Stream Media via DFGAS's latest Miui Rom. I am currently watching Iron Man 2.
Also working on CM7, as someone else said.
You can't download the app from the market, though. You need to download the apk...don't remember where I found it, but search around on here. The apk files have been posted in a few locations.
Annoying pop-up saying there's a new version, but it doesn't pop-up while playing, only while browsing.
Quality is excellent via WIFI.
Working on CM7 with one of the modded version from the netflix thread on the general android apps section. No annoying popups, just streaming goodness.

I'm running Heinz 57 v1.2 and have no problems with netflix. No popups, and it streams like a dream. I didn't realize there were problems with netflix on the mes, as I am almost certain I downloaded and ran netflix from the market when I first got the mes about 2-3 weeks ago when it was stock.

Also miui. I didn't give it a fair chance never tried miui before. I hope it gets ported beyond miui.

Working terrific so far. Looks absolutely identical to regular miui. Except keyboard which is a tiny bit smaller I believe. Also noticibly faster in general. I do recommend it from my experience so far.
been running ICS build since it's availability and everything has been smooth and stable. it "feels" faster than any other MIUI build i've used, but could just be placebo effect unless ICS' hardware acceleration is really working.
i even had wifi calling working a couple times, but this has not been consistent. sometimes it worked and other times i had the "invalid sim" error.
can't really comment on battery life as i'm still re-calibrating.
the only issue i've run into is a Market FC only when i try to swipe through the screenshots for apps...weird.
other than the issue listed above, this rom has been great and error free for me.
tried it out.... hated the Ui would much prefer weapon x ui with ics improvements and toggles going back to weaponx 2.8.
Been using the ICS build. No crazy real world speeds were felt by me. Only going to keep running this build if the battery life is better than the regular one.
Missing extended power menu. Might be missing gps.config fix & APN fix files in this ICS build.
Looks & feels the same as any other MIUI Whitehawkx has ported over.
Installed just now...works great and benchmarks return 2700+. Also, I was having terrible problems with Youtube before with any other MIUI version (very, very, very, verrrrrry slow loading). Now Youtube is faster to load than when it was with Gingerbread.
THANK YOU Whitehawkx!

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I had that happen but only because miui considered it a favorite app and wanted you to submit a rating.
That's the only thing I found impressive was the media player, galnet player. I'd love to see it in cm7 or in a market.
Playing with miui on my G2 just to get a feel for it. Would have moved it to g2x but I need T-Mobile wifi to work

Just switched to a TBolt from OG Incredible. Was running cm7 on it, and loved it. Just wanted some idea as to the best version of cm7 for Tbolt and any other things to make it run better. Any help would be appreciated. I kinda dont have time to read thru 10000 posts in the cm7 topic...
Welcome.
I don't think you're going to get a ton of help with a first post like that, but you might want to check out the CM7 links from the forum post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081930
There are also a couple posts at the top of here and the Q&A subforum about what roms people prefer.
I don't have CM7 on my thunderbolt, but on a different device. In general, CM7 is stable enough such that the recent nightlies, if not the latest, are usually the best. However, currently most of the CM dev work is focused on ICS/CM9.
I just came from dinc last week. I had senae 3.5 on mine, though ive flashed every dinc rom ever available. You may want to try a sense rom, i was shocked how smooth 3.5 mikrunny is on this, and it all works. I will try some aosp roms soon, there is a cool one with ics theme, pretty slick. Just experiment dude, this phone rocks.

If you don't need MMS, I highly recommend MIUI. On the other hand, fully featured and most awesomely completely customizable - Gingeritis 3D. I personally switched from Gingeritis to AOSP recently, better battery life and faster performance but you can't use VZW apps. I'm currently running on Thundershed CM7 nightly and I will probably run this until CM9.

If you Google "Thundershed Thunderbolt" you'll find it very easily.

+1 thundershed is ur only option imo. As its the only aosp rom with good incall volume levels. And its super smooth. miui does not have working mms which is a bummer cause i like miui also.

You need to go to a Sense based ROM and connect to GPS, then flash (while still connected) to a AOSP ROM to fix GPS permanently.
Also I'm not sure why you're having those WiFi issues; try deleting the WiFi and DHCP folders, I forget where theyre located. I suppose running fix permissions wouldn't hurt, hahaha, I know people hate that response.

but i was having alot of crashes and my phone would just shutoff, but become unresponsive, iw ould have to battery pull and reboot... i think it also drained the battery too, not sure what this issue was called
didnt bother troubleshooting and i wans't sure if it was DA_G's kernel or the rom itself
now i'm using CyanoTouchwiz Rocket and no crashes so far, only problem is that i can't select if i want LTE or 3G.... which is very troublesome for me because i live on the edge of LTE coverage lol

Incorrect ROM flash instructions floating out there
Just an FYI for the folks here. I followed the instructions for flashing my phone to sky ice cream to the letter from this site: ___traemcneely.com/2011/12/27/install-custom-rom-at-ciq-removed-short-review-instructions/___
and the instructions are incorrect. and there will be issues. Example, phone would ring but no alert pop up and I could not answer the phone. The notification bar was gone...and just some other weirdness.
After researching here I discovered that I had to install the 6.75 stock, let the phone boot completely up then go back into recover and install the 7.4 update.
all the weirdness is gone....not that you all have control of external sites. But a google search on installing a new ROM brought up this site first.
At any rate, I am very happy with sky ice cream now. Phone is working great.
Thanks for all the folks effort here.
if u value battery life and stability above all else, use the tpc rom. for visuals use sky ice, and for "quickness," which is really just a decrease in the transition times, use quickwiz

I actually tried this and downloaded a Faux kernel but now when I open up this game, it gives me the spinning wheel and it says getting ready. This is on a MIUI rom 2.3.30
I had tones of issues on GB. So far no issues at all with various ICS roms floating around. Take the plunge and switch to ICS.
Ok here's a work around to my problem....
Draw something will work with Faux kernel for MIUI 2.3.30 but you can only use your data instead of WIFI. For some reason when in WIFI, you will get the endless "Getting Ready" message but if you turn off your WIFI and use your data. It seems to work ok.
Works fine for me on aosp. Laggy at times
