I'm using the Lightning Rom 4.1
2 nights ago..took some pictures with my phone...all worked like it should
today I went to take a few pictures and now it wont save to the SD card
too the SD card out and put it in My Acer tablet, and I have no issues saving to the card
so its not a bad card....
it has to be something with the Camera app...
and I dont know how to fix it
the Video side of it will take movies and save them just fine
the camera side of it will create a file with 0 bytes in it.
also when I take a picture...it hangs for a second like its doing a picture review...but like I said...it doesnt save the pictures properly
I've tried the SD Rescan app...still broken
I've tried a different SD card... still broken
I've tried reformatting the card... still broken...
also.. for what its worth...I just noticed...
the forward low resolution camera works fine
the high resolution main camera is broken
Edit nevermind

anybody have any ideas???
I even went back to the stock rom, and reloaded Lightning Rom 4.1
Camera worked fine for a few days...
now this morning I go to take a picture and it doesnt work again...
Last night it worked fine, today its broken again...
I havent updated a thing since last night
DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS!!!
hello??
is this thing on??
anybody on here read and respond?
has to be somebody else with this issue..
Probably because you are using old ROM, isn't even latest available, ROM thread says latest is 4.3.
Might try that or send message to dev and see what he recommends.
Could be kernel issue as well, did you change that recently?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
same broken problem in 4.3
are you freezing any programs using titanium? I froze some programs that had nothing to do with the camera (or so I thought), and killed my camera. Had to reflash the ROM.
What about the other suggestions? Contact dev? Change kernel?
Do cameras from market work? What about camera from another ROM? Did you do full wipe of data, cache, dalvik, and format system between the 4.1 you had and on 4.3?
Did you ask this question in the thread dedicated to this ROM?

Probably coulda contacted me...you can just send me a pm...dont mind answering issues there...
My best guess is that you are removing something that you aren't supposed to be removing because it works for everyone else. What you can do, is pull the camera out of just about any other GB sense rom and push it to your system...if its still jacked up, you erased/froze/bad flash...if it works then let me know

I always loved this rom on the Droid Incredible. I got a Galaxy Nexus and gave the DInc to my girlfriend. She didn't mess with anything and now the camera won't load. Whenever she taps it, its just a black screen. It happened to me once, but was mysteriously fixed with a reboot. What do I do here? I can't go over to her house and fix it as we live like 20 minutes away (and we can't drive)
And trying to do it in school would most certainly get it taken. Is there a flashable Sense 3.0 camera that works on Sense 3.5? Even better, Sense 2.1 camera.
Please? At least someone say something.. I just want her phone to work 100% but she is so familier with Sense 3.5 now and I don't wanna give her a buncha instructions to flash and set up a whole nother rom. I just want her phone's camera to work, or at least to know if its possible to fix!

Hey XDA members,
Ive updated to the latest SKY ICS R-3. i must say it is the best ROM I've used and always looking for the latest update.
the only problem I'm having is running Song Pop app. I'm addicted to it and SKY ICS will not let it load. it starts up and then a blue screen thats all.
any help here would be greatly appreciated
Yup. Couldn't get it to work at all on skyICS. which sucked because I wouldn't get rid of that ROM, but got JB now and it works!
I'm having the same issue. I upgraded from sky ics 4.2e to 4.2f(non dragon) and it worked on my old ROM, but not since I updated. I posted in the sky ics post earlier... no replies yet hope we can figure something out. I can even help get debug if people need it, I just don't know enough to change code... I only know Linux, not java programming.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Not yet . I posted about it twice on his ROM thread, once someone even quoted me and confirmed it doesn't work, but noone ever responded to my post . Maybe I'll try one more time.
Oh and I upgraded from 2.7A to 2.8B update, and still no go.
Maybe his update or new project coming out will fix this problem MAYBE

Currently running the newest SKY-ICS 3.0, and SongPop still does not work. Tried everything, including installing the last Adobe Flash Player with a Flash Installer. Adobe Flash Player runs just fine, but still no SongPop. Had the same problem with Screenshot from Google Play today, as far as force closing, and the same error message. Uninstalled Screenshot, and reinstalled it, works fine now. I did notice the last time I uninstalled, and reinstalled SongPop, it said a shortcut was already on my home screen, but I had just uninstalled it. Maybe it's not truly uninstalling all the way to get a fresh install. I don't know, but SongPop not working on SKY-ICS is the only thing that sucks for me.
Just for ****s n giggles, SongPop support sucks ass. I tried seeing if they knew what was up, and all they do is dance around the problem. Told them all of what was going on in my first comment on there, phone, o/s version, and exactly what was happening. The tech replies with, please reply with all of this info including SongPop username, phone, o/s, sreenshot of when it's failing. I was kinda harsh, and told him I already posted most of it in my previous post, and then sent another reply with username, and a couple screenshots. One of the blackscreen when it f/c's and another one of the error message. Next reply is, try uninstalling, and reinstalling SongPop. In my first comment, I already stated that I have done this many times, along with clearing cache, data, and even did a fresh install of this ROM to make sure none of my other apps, and or settings was screwing with it. Next reply is, We're sorry you're having this isssue, please check back often to see if your problem is fixed. Also, each time they reply to new comments, they close your help request, and mark it as solved. It took me 6 days to get told, sorry it's not working, and we'll try to fix it.
Works fine on CM10/AOKP. Sky-ICS is dead. Switch to a newer ROM.

try using the libCore.so from adobe air:
1. Install the lastet adobe air from google play
2. Copy the file libcore.so from /data/data/com.adobe.air/lib/libCore.so to /data/data/air.com.freshplanet.games.SongPop*/lib/libCore.so , you can use a file explorer like cm explorer or the terminal.
3. Start playing

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else, but after flashing AOKP Build 3 my camera keeps giving me the error "cannot connect to camera." I have tried clearing data on the gallery app, rebooting the phone, and nothing works.
I researched some and tried some fixes I found but none had any effect.
I then reflashed to stock to see if stock Touchwiz would work and it works with no issues. Wiped all data, reformatted my SD card, removed my SD card and cannot seem to find the culprit. I also flashed CM nightly to see if it was an AOKP issue with my phone, but had same issue
For whatever reason I cannot flash any AOSP rom without having FC on my camera. Any help would be appreciated. Again, sorry if it has been posted somewhere I haven't found, but I've looked for a few days and didn't locate anything that worked.

What version of CWM are you using? I've heard some versions don't play nice with AOSP.
EDIT: I'm assuming you're using CWM.
You happen to try a different camera from the play store? My quess is it wouldnt work either as its probaly a kernel issue?

Yeah I tried with several camera alternatives and all said couldn't connect to camera as well. :/
this happened to me randomly yesterday on CM10 M1, I'm on leankernal and using twrp. I had just flashed the aosp camera mod earlier so I thought it was that. I just restored a backup I made the other day and it was all good since. I guess its a good reason to make routine backups on aosp

I love this ROM. I'm not sure how it randomly a day or two into operation just quit the camera operation completely. This would be a real miracle solved

I wasn't able to get it to fix. I came to the conclusion that it was a hardware issue. For whatever reason it works on touchwiz but wouldn't work on aosp ROMs. I got a warranty replacement and it solved the issue. Wasn't able to find a software fix.

I am having the "cannot connect" issue on CM10. I posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2152348
The camera works fine in stock, but on CM10 no-go. According to this post its a firmware issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006128
only problem is to fix I need to figure out what camera firmware I have so I can flash a new one - but I cannot determine what firmware i535 has? Anyone?
Based on another thread, seems like I might be able to copy the bins from the cameradata folder on stock where the camera works. No need to flash or anything.

hi guys,
i've got a problem with my cam. when i take a photo, cam does take the action and in gallery there is a "photo" but the photo's just all in gray and cant open it. but i can use the camera to scan a barcode, to take videos sometimes... meanwhile the front camera works well
it may be caused by some problems when i flashed a different rom, i guess. but everything else works but camera.
i've tried to flash a lot of different roms, factory reset, wipe anything can be wiped, format internal, install other camera apps and radios.
still cant take photos
anyone can help here. or it 's sure to be a hardware problem?

I have the exact same issue. Except in my case I can't take any videos. I asked around and no one was able to provide any insights.
The only thing I would recommend is a complete back to stock using odin. In my case, this did not fix the problem.
Next, I re flashed the camera firmware using a dial code in stock jb ROM. This did not fix my issue either.
So I concluded hardware problem.
Next, I ordered a replacement rear camera module. Took my phone apart and replaced the camera. This did not fix the problem either. So whatever hardware it is, it is outside the camera module.
At this point I have given up and am just gonna wait till my contract runs out..
If you find a fix, please let me know.

Hello all.
I've only recently found this Phone Freedom and don't know why I didn't do it sooner. So first, thanks to everyone that's here!
But I do have an issue..
If this is a newb issue... Guilty! And I apologize.
When I rooted and flashed I used LiquidSmooth for 4.2.2 with TWRP and all was well. Then upgraded to LiquidSmooth 2.x for 4.3 and this Gallery issue arose. Every time some sorta gallery app is opened (stock, quikpik, etc..) the phone freezes and reboots. I've gone through uninstalling stock and replacing with whatever.
I'm now running Dirty Unicorns for 4.3 (which is beautiful I might add) but the issue persists...
Any help from you guys is greatly appreciated.
[update] just before I sent this I ran Master Clean and in the "advanced" section it did the same freeze/reboot action.

Try force stopping the app, clearing data, and cache. I would than try wiping cache and the dalvik cache. Worst case scenario: wipe cache, dalvik cache, factory reset.

Glad I checked here before posting the exact same issue! Reassuring to know I'm not the only one to hit this. In my case, I went from stock 4.1 to Dirty Unicorn (4.3), then went to Avatar (4.3) and had same problem both times. Then backed down to Embryo (4.2) and all is well.
So...is there a work around to this? Possibly removing camera and gallery via some tool and replacing with down rev version?
Thanks Mucho!

Backup pictures and videos that were taken pre 4.3(just do all of them) to PC and remove from phone. Mp4 files are the culprit I think. Should take care of problem. There is a way to download them back to phone afterwards and let media browser rename them. Not sure of exact process, but quick fix/work around is to get them off phone.

My S4 never has been quite right after gettting run over in the street, so I put my SD chip in my S2 and gallery crashes. Thank you for investing your time in this thread.
I am going to start with a clean chip and go from there. I'll test and fiddle and give a report back.
So you got gallery to work as long as there are no Mp4 files on it?
---------- Post added at 05:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:32 PM ----------
I put the SD chip in the desktop and went through the entire thing deleting all the MP4 files. Seems all the movies I made with the S4 had a mp4 file extension, and adjusted the windows explore to display details instead of large icons. Took a while to delete them all, I had a lot and organized the chip into folders.
Now gallery works just fine.
So is it a hardware firmware thing? No way to get an S2 with mp4 in the gallery? not to crash?
As reported in the posts above, stock Samsung ROM and its derivations work fine.
