[Q] Is Android Mytouch [HTC Glacier] 2.3.4 rootable? - General Questions and Answers

My Question would be from a few days of looking around and asking for some help.
I was wondering if the MyTough 4G - HTC glacier 2.3.4 is rootable yet.
Phone: My Touch 4G
Carrier: T-Mobile
Kernal: 2.3.4
Or
....
Would it be possible to downgrade the kernal of my phone to the previous rootable kernal?
thanks for all the help ladies and gents.
New to this site, so i don't know if ill be checking this as much as i need to to find out my answer. If you could please message me with a response or if you have AOL messanger you can AIM me: sampsonlabarr
again, Thanks you developers.

It is rootable. Go to the glacier forums and there is information on how to downgrade the software and root the phone.

Did you find out how to downgrade your android version 2.3.4?
The instructions I saw assume you have SU authority. I dont.
I downloaded the ROM, and saved the MISC.IMG but cannot move it to the dev/block as I dont have permission.
When I do the hboot, (power and volume down) it sees the new rom and examines the .zip file but no prompt on loading it. Just finished.
I need help.
I want to root it to load a new rom.
Thanks.

Once updated the official way (RUU from HTC website from AT&T), bringing your phone to android 2.2.2, then their is currently no way to root it. If you rooted from android 2.1 then updated using Cyanogenmod, then go here and use this to root: http://unrevoked.com/recovery/. Download, run it and follow instructions. N.B- This (current version - 3.32) will not work on factory updated android 2.2.2.
P.S. - You should have made this thread in the HTC Aria General section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=681.
I don't know is that official way i updated my phone.
It was like auto update.
A message poped out and ask me whether want to update the version or not.
Is 2.2 and 2.2.2 equivalent ?
How if i never root before ??

Check your hboot version. Instructions:
1. Turn off your phone
2. Hold volume down
3.Power on (still holding volume down)
Look at HBOOT and reply what version you have. If it is 1.02.0000, then your phone is currently unrootable. If you see 0.57, then you can root your phone by doing what I said in my first post. I don't know why it only says 2.2, but the hboot version will tell it all.
The Asian release was just 2.2

Yea its 1.02.0000 =.=" bad news :/

[Q] HTC Update - software version 1.45.531.1 with S-off, Revolutionary, Perm Rooted?

Hello,
I am running stock rom with S-off, Revolutionary, and perm rooted. I have been out of the country and tried searching the forums but cant find an answer. I keep finding instead of updating, install a custom rom. I don't want to change roms, because with setcpu and anker 1900 battery; I am able to go 2 full days without a charge with heavy usage.
Can I install the update, or do I need to do something else first?
Is there steps on what I need to do?
Thanks for any help.
You would be better off searching the forums for a rooted version of the update. That way you can stay stock.

Phone Rooted with Revolutionary....BUT....help
I rooted my HTC Wildfire yesterday (with Revolutionary)...it went perfectly well... but I am unable to use USB TETHERING on my computer ... & I have to rely on other 3rd apps for this & its really annoying....I just wanted to know that :
My phone by default came with Eclair....which I updated to Froyo & had to wait a long time to be able to root. Now (currently CM 7.0.3 Stable) if I want to either upgrade to Honeycomb or downgrade to Eclair will I loose the S-OFF & current HBOOT version ? Y/N
If No then pls list down the procedure for upgrade or downgrade respectively ?
thanx in anticipation.

You're on the wrong forum. This is the htc sensation forum!

Help with ChaCha and Roms please.

I have an HTC ChaCha that is on 2.3.3 (for some reason ATT hasn't given us the 2.3.5) and I've finally got it rooted successfully (it came S-Off).
I'm looking through the ROMs and I'm not sure if I can flash any of them because the they seem to all be with 2.3.5 and I can't find a 2.3.5 to flash that is marked for ATT.
Can someone point me in the right direction? In the about section of my phone here is what I"m seeing
Android Version- 2.3.3
HTC Sense Version- 2.1 for messenger
Software number- 1.23.502.1
Kernel- 2.6.35.10
Baseband- 47.17.35.3033
Build- 1.23.502.1
Thanks in advance! I really want to find a ROM that will get rid of all the HTC and ATT bloat crap. It's all frozen right now with Titanium backup but I would like it gone.
As I've said in the other topic, get SuperOSR or CyanogenMod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1291232
i'm using SuperOSR-1314
Thanks guys! Downloading now and getting ready to try it!

[Q] How to upgrade Android HTC Inspire from 2.2.1 to 4?

Hello,
I have HTC Inspire from AT&T. Have rooted and unlocked to 2.2.1. Now I would like to upgrade from 2.2.1 to 4. Can somebody help me How to upgrade Android HTC Inspire from 2.2.1 to 4?
- Raj
Check the link in my signature, Post#7 which contains basic info.
Basically read the op for each thread/rom to see what is required.
Download rom to sd card, reboot in recovery, perform a full wipe, flash the rom, reboot.
If you unlocked the bootloader using htc dev, that has a different flashing method. You'll get all that info from the guide glevitan wrote in my sig.

You should do some research before you post a new thread... There is so much info about what you asked, a simple search would have gotten you what you were looking for. Good luck with the process though!
Just some advice...
Please search the forums for threads, guides, tutorials, etc. before making a thread. Most of the time you can find your answer to your problem after searching the forums for a few minutes.
Try to find attn1's one click root kit and please read the manual.
