Okay well my phone did fine on stock 2.2.1, but I wanted to root it and such so I did.
I rooted the device with the SuperOneClick method, and was going to install the Infused v2.1.0 ROM. I followed all the instructions, flashed the kernel it told to to flash, and then download and installed the ROM via ROM Manager.
It was taking too long (~30 minutes later), so I just pulled the battery. It then was on a boot-loop, so I reset back to stock via the Odin the same guy that developed Infused provided.
I'm back at stock and not rooted, but I can't get any internet...I can call though. The only way I can get internet is setting up an Access Point with the Cingular WAP settings...but, even then, I can only browse the web and cannot download applications or anything...
If anyone could help me in anyway, it would be appreciated...
Thanks!

My phone originally came with 2.1 Éclair and I upgraded it with Kies Mini the official AT&T way. Then I rooted it with Shortfuse's SuperOneClick method. I was not satisfied though and I wanted to get Cognition 4.3.1 but later found out that you needed to have 2.1 to do that. So I used Odin to go back to 2.1 and then I rooted my phone again with the same method as before. Then I installed Cognition 4.3.1 with Rom Manager FREE version. When my phone booted up, it had Cognition on it but it was not rooted anymore. I still had SuperUser on it but when I opened apps that needed root like TitaniumBackup Pro, it wouldn't allow me saying I wasn't rooted. So then I tried to root my phone with SuperOneClick again and it would work. It said it was successful but it still wouldn't work. I tried to root it with the OneClick and SuperOneClick and both wouldn’t work. After countless times of failing, I tried using my phone to call someone and it wouldn't let me and would start vibrating every 1-2 seconds. So now, what I did was put it in download mode and used Odin again to go back to my original 2.1 and did a master clear with Odin and a factory reset through my phone, and cognition was gone and all I was left with was 2.1 stock firmware, non-rooted, and I was mad.
Now my question is:
Can your phone be rooted and be running Cognition 4.3.1 at the same time? Is that possible or can I just have Cognition 4.3.1 only and not rooted? Is there a possible way to have both?
If there is a way, can you please give me some step by step instructions on how I can do it?
I understand how to root my phone and install Cognition on my phone but when I installed Cognition, the root was lost. Any ideas would be appreciated please.
Samsung Captivate Cognition 4.1.3. w/ Odin 3 flash
Hey Daniel. I had the same problem & trust me they happen. I went to the tube & found a
3 part vid on cognition install with Odin flash & at first it didnt work for me. So I reflashed to
2.1 stock with Odin & followed everything to a t.....having patience watching the vids. I kinda
enjoyed it & was able to effectively flash my Samsung Captivate to Cognition 4.3.1 that is based
off of froyo 2.2 (by the way). Cog is smooth & fast & works great with home launchers!
Enter Samsung captivate rom & look for the mobile tech vid of Cognition. (older firmware used
in vid but all works the same). My phone is way faster than 2.2 stock and I grabbed a ADW from
the market to change the home launcher and all my buds want me 2 do there phones now!
Just be patient, its worth it. You will glad you were when your phone is better than new.
I am having some phone problems as a result of a root attempt.
Phone : LG p999
Carrier : Wind (Canada)
Here's what I did:
1. Tried superoneclick root program. It never got to completion and I couldn't figure out why. It always failed at right before finishing, even after reboots.
2. After superoneclick , I decided I would edit the adb shell manually. I did not initialize psneuter because that step was successful with Superoneclick. I loaded the superuser package. After this, I couldn't get the phone to boot, even in recovery mode.
3. Next I used One-Click ClockworkMod Recovery NvFlasher to load clockworkmod (cwm) . At first I loaded it onto internal SD. This worked fine but I couldn't get it to recognize any backups or cm7 nightlies.
4. Then I tried loading on the external SD. This worked, I couldn't see any backups but could load cm7 nightly and gapps.
5. Rebooted phone, everything fine. But within a few hours, my 3g was not working. I typed #*#*4636*#*# and saw the 3g settings were empty. Apn settings are normal though.
So here is where I'm at now. Wifi, SMS, calling all work. Cannot access 3G, sdcard (can’t take pictures).
Also, I didn't make a backup. Yea, that was stupid.
first thing were you on 2.2.2 or 2.3.3 when you first tried superoneclick? It sounds like you did the update and were on 2.3.3. The superoneclick methode does not work for rooting anymore. You have to nvflash CWM first. Then flash xboarders stock ota rooted or any Rom that is pre rooted I think will work.
So what I would do at this point is try using nvflash and flash back to stock and start over. You will probally have to reinstall CWM then I would just use the xboarders stock rooted ROM just to gain root then install CM7. You probally dont have to flash xboarders first but that is the way I know will definitly work so that is what I recomend. Also I dont know if the NVflash returns the phone to stock 2.2.2 or 2.3.3 I have never done it. maybe someone else who knows more could chime in.

Are you already on Cyanogen Mod 7 as your title indicates? CM7 is rooted OOTB. There is no reason to try and root it again.
Yes it is running CM7 now, but with some serious problems:
1. Can't use one click to flash stock ROM -- each time I try the phone gets stuck in a rebooting loop and just eventually freezes.
2. 3G/sdcard problems with CM7
- not sure if this is just an issue with the CM7 build or whether my phone is causing this.
I have flashed CM7, but the weird thing is that the 3G works fine for about a day and then it cuts out. Its not an APN thing --> I checked the settings. Any ideas what is going on there?
Gonna try loading xboarders when I have a free evening.
Thanks
I download T959VUVKH2 from samfirmware.com and flash with ordin (i didn't use pit). everything went fine. then i tried to root my phone with this help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127121. i had root. however, whenever i turned on wifi, it force close and the tmobile welcome animation (pink tmobile text at start-up) pop up in a second then it reading SD card and tmobile welcome animation pop up. this happened again and again. i had to pull out the battery and turn on device.
Right now, i'm doing fine with T959VUVKG4 from samfirmware and rooted with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15973153&postcount=211
I just want to go with unmodified rom and could you please guide me how to root T959VUVKH2 because i'm really interested in this rom. thank you so much.
Hi guys, I need your help!
Yesterday I updated my phone from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3.5 with Kies, then I rooted it trough Odin and flashed the recovery with ClockWorkMod recovery (i followed the guide, and made everything it asked to do). I completed the task succesfully. But here comes the problems:
I turned the phone on and I wanted to use Wi-Fi connection but I couldn't! It was just saying "error" and in settings the MAC address was unavaiable. I found something on the web, like trying to dial *#*#526#*#* but it didn't work too ("Driving loading unsuccessful").
So I wanted to bring the phone back to the previous state, So i unrooted it (succesfully) but now I'm stuck with this ClockWorkMod recovery and I can't find a way to restore the original Samsung i9003 recovery because i can't find it anywhere and I don't even know if I can use another Samsung's one.
I tought that maybe reinstalling Gingerbread from zero could fix this problem, but I'm not even sure of that, neither on how to reinstall it. Damn, I'm truly an Android n00b
Thanks to everyone that will spend some time helping me!
If it can help, here some infos about my phone

Now, Do you want a guide on how to re-flash back to Gingerbread using ODIN? If so,It is here. And, I would like to tell you that on re-flashing the FW, you are going to void your warranty and you will be able to get rid of the CWM
Hope it helped you!
hi OP
I'm facing the same problem as you, right now waiting for dxkp9 download and reflash with Odin.
But if you somehow manage to solve this issue please share.
Hi!
I tried and I tried and I solved it! I flashed back the stock rom of I9003 with Gingerbread trough Odin. This removed ClockWorkMod and restored the phone as it was in the beginning. Problem solved, original recovery mode and wi-fi finally works!

+1 [Reflash, and CF-root without 'extras' and restore]
The other day, I got a text from AT&T indicating that an official 2.3.5 kernel was available for my Captivate. Great, so I fire up Kies mini and install it over my rooted stock 2.2.
Update goes well, I have Gingerbread. All of my apps remain in place. Re-root (SuperOneClick) and my Titanium Backup works like a charm.
However, I can't get my WiFI to connect to save my life. IT scans for about 15 seconds then shuts back off. I can't even enter WiFi settings manually, because it shuts off and "fail to save" the settings.
IS anyone else having issues with WiFI on the AT&T stock Gingerbread kernel? (No, I don't feel the need to upgrade, since I just want to be able to use TiBU)

I just updated to stock GB and have no issues with Wifi, although I am not rooted. I thought that rooting with SuperOneClick didn't work with this 2.3 stock.

I'll have to check that when I get off of work. That's what I used to root the unit when on 2.2. I wonder if the root just carried through the upgrade?
Anyway, I am probably going to flash back to froyo and update GB again, sans root to see if that helps.
For the life of me I couldn't get Superoneclick to work on 2.3.5, or 2.3.3. I flashed the rooted kernel with Odin.
